Author Coelho says books banned in Iran

— Brazilian author Paulo Coelho says his books were banned in Iran.

Brazil's Foreign Ministry says Tuesday it's looking into the matter.

It was not possible to confirm a ban with Iranian authorities and the country's embassy in Brazil did not comment.

Coelho says on his blog that his publisher informed him of the ban on Sunday. The author says he'll make his books available for free in Farsi on his blog.

Coelho's publisher in Iran is Arash Hejazi.

Hejazi is also a doctor who in 2009 was seen in footage shown worldwide trying to save the life of a young woman shot and killed on a Tehran street amid postelection violence.
