Citigroup to ramp up hiring, add 500 employees

LOS ANGELES — Citigroup Inc. says it is planning to add about 500 new employees over the next few years as it looks to bolster its client services.

Spokeswoman Danielle Romero-Apsilos said Tuesday that the plan is part of a multi-year effort across all of the company's business segments.

The New York bank is looking to bring in a broad slate of employees, including bankers, traders and others in its Institutional Clients Group.

Like many other large financial institutions, Citi eliminated thousands of jobs after the financial crisis hit in 2008. At the end of last year it had about 260,000 full-time employees compared to 265,300 a year before.
