LONDON — DON - An insurance policy taken out by a British Royal Marine killed in Afghanistan last year is paying for 32 friends to go on vacation in Las Vegas, a U.K. newspaper reported Monday.

David Hart, who took out a 250,000-pound (about $400,000) policy before he was deployed , left instructions that a part of that amount should go to paying for his pals' holiday, according to The Sun.

"He loved going away with his mates — it was always the best two weeks of the year," friend Andy Hare told the paper.

"In his letter David said he had had a great life and had no regrets about anything," Hare told The Sun.  "He always said he would do something like this if something bad happened."

Hart, 23, also stipulated that 50,000 pounds would go to a charity for injured Marines, the newspaper reported.

His parents, Chris and Dilys, told the newspaper that their son's friends had been very attentive since he was killed by an explosion while on a foot patrol in Sangin, Afghanistan.

"Since his death, all of his friends have been round to see us," his father was quoted as saying. "It's nice they have been there to support us."
