HANOVER — Kicking off his presidential campaign in New Hampshire, former Louisiana Gov. Buddy Roemer says he may be no one, but he's the only one ready to fight a corrupt political system.

Roemer, who's been out of office for 19 years, officially launched his campaign Thursday at Dartmouth College.

He already has been campaigning hard in New Hampshire, going so far as to move to Manchester recently.

Roemer is focusing on two issues: unfair trade practices and campaign financing. He doesn't take donations above $100 and described his campaign as a war against special interests that control Washington.

A Democrat-turned-Republican, Roemer served as Louisiana governor from 1988 to 1992.

Grim, I have no problem with him not passing muster with the TP but it would be nice to have an intelligent alternative to Obama.. At least there could be an intelligent debate and maybe some real solutions as opposed to the grade school barbs and sound bites thrown about by the teapublicans.

I won't vote for Obama but I am fed up with the insinuation of the TEA Party in the GOP. They have convoluted what the Tea Party was about, Overt taxation without representation. If they had stuck to that I could support them. It's the fringe issues of personal choices I strongly object to. Inserting religion, any religion into government is offensive. For Michelle Bachman to appoint herself as representative of that group with her lack of knowledge about American Revolutionary history should be an embarrassment to them. And, Sarah their other bright light is equally uninformed.

At least Romer took up temporary resisdence up here in NH, short as that duration maybe. The Inn is getting quite crowded and we're running low on syrup ... or maybe not.

My hope is we won't have another non-debate with a football team as a line up.

Jo, what happens when the Tea Party gets the nomination and you have to choose?

I'm not voting for Obama! Depending who gets the GOP nomination I may put in a write in vote. I've done it before but I have never failed to vote in any election, be it federal, state, or town since I was 21, a long time ago. We have paper balotts where I live. I've also held elected office.

I think you've confused Conservative war hero Allen West with Debby Blabbermouth Schultz.

What has Blabbermouth done for her country besides getting elected? You liberals cry racism when someone criticizes Obama, but when it's a non-liberal black man, then he's fair game for each and every attack.

Blabbermouth Schultz doesn't have a leg to stand on when she criticizes Allen West for trying to end Medicare as we know it. After all, she voted for ObamaCare, which cuts Medicare by $500 billion.

Is this the particular officer and a gentleman, war hero Allen West you speak of?

"West was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. During a hearing held as part of an Article 32 investigation in November 2003, West stated, "I know the method I used was not right, but I wanted to take care of my soldiers."[12] The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000."

OH BROTHER! Some war hero! Forget the gentleman part, for he never has been and never will be. OMG, Hero????

To idiots who never serve themselves, phony-baloney nut-jobs like Oliver North, and West are regular G I Joe action figures. In reality they are disgraces to the uniform.

Col West admitted he made a mistake that's more than can be said about Obama or those in his administration. Col. North did exactly what Operation Fast & Furious did under this administration, sold arms to the enemy.

Col West was correct about Wasserman. She should have said it to him straight on. Back biting and taking your personal fight to the floor of the House is vile. She's not a lady.

What are you talking about Jo? Obama has never sold arms to the enemy or traded arms for hostages or run a secret war from the basement of the White House.

You are aware of Operation Fast & Furious that sold guns out of AZ to Mexican gun runners/cartels under the authority of the US government (AG, Holder). who does Holder report to? If both deny it they are inept and if they admit it they are guilty. A case has been filed by members of Congress, an investigation is in process. Because of that operation a border agent was shot. The family is suing the government.
