WASHINGTON — Actress Daryl Hannah has been arrested in front of the White House along with other environmental protesters who oppose a planned oil pipeline from Canada to the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The sit-in Tuesday involved dozens protesting the Keystone XL pipeline. It would go through Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas to refineries in Houston and Port Arthur, Texas.

Before she was arrested, Hannah told The Associated Press the protesters want to be free from dependence on fossil fuels. The group calls for clean energy investments instead. Hannah says they hope President Barack Obama will not bow to oil lobbyists.

Hannah sat down on the sidewalk near the White House and refused orders from U.S. Park Police to move.

She has been arrested in the past for environmental causes.

and FINALLY after weeks of arrests and protests, this movement gets some press b/c a celeb got arrested. Thank you Ms Hannah and thanks the POS MSM for holding to your news is only important if someone "important" is involved, way of covering the news.

        She's stupid. If she wants to stop oil drilling and building pipelines, then she needs to cough up the damn money and pay for the people homes that need heating and need gas in their cars so they can get back and forth to work.

        People like DH create more harm than good for our economy.

If about 1,000 celebs, whether currently rich or poor, black or white, asian, famous, not famous, living in Hollywood, or anywhere else would start showing up, it would be grand. If our popular screen-names would start protecting citizens from being raped, embezzled from, and not heard, would start to support issues, perhaps good media coverage would follow!

        One of the problems currently in the United States is that a lot of us who WOULD show up, just cannot afford to drive more than: however far we can manage to go on our $50.00/week gas budget.

        Why would you suggest anyone needs to cough up some money for another persons heat and gas? I would be for a grand overhaul of Washington: from Obama all the way down! Maybe then, we wouldn't be broke and hoping for or needing someone to pay our gas or heat.

          What Arieus means is that people like her like to bitch for their cause but offer no real solutions to real problems. It's all a smokescreen for publicity and funding to continue their smokescreens and buy houses in Malibu or wherever. You show me an environmentalist and I'll show you a hypocrite. I could walk in their house and show you 50 instances in the first room of them not really caring about the environment. Regular people do this so they feel better about themselves, celebrities do this to feed their narcissism.

            If she wants yo stop this then she needs to fork over the money to pay or heating the homes of people she is keeping it from.

            It looks to me like maybe she had some work done and it went wrong. Why can't women just let themselves age gracefully. I know some 50 year olds that are sexy as hell, but Ms. Hannah appears to have either let herself go or had some bad work done.

                Why is she pandering to the White House? Doesn't she know that the current president is 110% behind the oil industry? Just look at how he helped BP and they are owned by:

                BlackRock, Legal & General, Barclays Global Investors, Norges Bank Investment Management and Kuwait Investment Authorityamong it's largest shareholders.

                Obama loves these guys and will fight to the end for them. Take your protest to other locations that may help since the scotus even does what the white House says to do.
