Boehner: Congress to overturn birth control policy

WASHINGTON — House Speaker John Boehner says if President Barack Obama doesn't reverse a new policy requiring religious schools and hospitals to provide employees with access to free birth control, the Congress will.

Boehner, a Catholic, said Wednesday that the rule is an attack on religious freedom in the country. The Ohio Republican, speaking on the floor, said the rule "cannot stand, and will not stand."

The speaker said the Energy and Commerce Committee will move ahead on legislation.

The issue has roiled the presidential race and angered congressional Republicans. The White House signaled this week that it is searching for ways to allay the concern of Roman Catholics who say the birth control mandate would force them to violate their religious beliefs against contraception.

What an idiot. Where is any Catholic being forced to use birth control against their beliefs?

Hey Boehner, where are the JOBS, JOBS, JOBS you promised during the 2010 mid-terms! Your low information followers might have forgotten your pledge to 'focus like a laser beam on JOBS', but I haven't...

All I have to say to you John, and the rest of the Republican 'SLUGS';...YOU LIE! LOL... And please don't get involved in this religious dispute, we already know everything you guys touch, turns to $h!+

The Catholic stance is an attack on the freedoms of any and all non-catholics who are patients at any Catholic run Hospital.

The hypocrisy in the complainers is amazing. They themselves are the ones infringing on "religious freedom" by trying to inflict theirs on their non-Catholic non-church businesses' employees.

Most Employer provided healthcare plans have always provided for contraceptives. Probably even the ones That Catholic employers have now. Is this something being cooked up by republicans. We're on to you. 98% of Catholics use contraceptives. Try to make them pay for them out of pocket and see what happens.

I didn't realize that paying for insurance that covers birth control equates with "free" birth control.

I also didn't realize that giving employees access to treatments that fit their personal religious beliefs is unconstitutional.

Free usually means that a co-pay or deductible is not applied to the charge.

Hey Boehner you dumb a---ss this is all about their insurance companies providing contraceptives. The Church or religious organizations won't pay and no one has to use contraceptives. It has nothing to do with freedom of religion. Damn does anyone know what is going on. The drunk known as the House speaker sure doesn't know what is going on. Boehner get out of the bars long enough to find out what is happening before you start threating the President.
