CHARLOTTESVILLE — The murder trial of a former University of Virginia lacrosse player has been delayed again because a defense attorney is sick.

George Huguely's first-degree murder trial resumed Friday morning despite the absence of a member of his defense team, who was ill for a second day. But by mid-morning the defense said it didn't want to proceed without attorney Rhonda Quagliana, and the judge relented. The defense will continue its presentation on Saturday.

The 24-year-old Huguely is accused in the slaying of his former girlfriend Yeardley Love in May 2010.

Huguely's defense had been expected to wrap up the majority of its case by Thursday, with closings to begin on Friday.
