Whose ad was more effective in getting its message across, John McCain's or Paris Hilton's?

John McCain recently released an Internet ad in which he compared Democratic rival Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, suggesting he is a celebrity who's not ready to lead the nation. Hilton responded with a spoof campaign ad of her own, referring to McCain as a "white-haired dude" and thanking him for his endorsement.

Hilton's ad indicates and understanding of the problem and an understanding that the solution will require compromise. McCain's is mean.

Pop-style mockery, that fluffy sort of wit, should be left to pop stars. Both ads' "message" was mockery, but Paris' was more effective because it's her job to speak like that. McCain was trying to paint himself as hip and witty, but that sort of thing has no place in politics.

Come on McCain! We're facing all sorts of national difficulties, and you're trying to play pop culture games? Why not let your policies speak for themselves? Your ad shows that you're the one trying to be a celebrity here. Not by virtue of your vision, your message, or your proposed policies (a politician's job, which is the source of Obama's fame), but by virtue of stupid media games (which is Paris Hilton's job, and she showed you up).

When did someone who was spending her irresponsible parents money on being a party girl or shoveling out sex tapes into the public eye an expert in politics or otherwise. Has America lost their senses?

However, with age comes wisdom, so John McCain is probably the best bet. At least he has a record we can look at and make an informed decision about him. Obama has a very limited record and very little information about him. If any one questions his motives or beliefs they are labeled a racist and he cries "Off Limits". As his past relationships and friends continue to come to light, it doesn't look like he would be the right person to lead this country.

                                                                  1. mistaking @!$%#e/Sunni with Alqueda in Iraq

                                                                  2. Referring to the non-existent Czechoslovakia 6 times and counting (its actually the Czech Republic now and I bring this up because while such a mistake an ordinary person is acceptable and even expected from a STATESMEN and man running for PRESIDENT such continuous errors suggests a lack of basic geographical knowledge or an issue with age-and I don't say that to be insulting or demeaning in anyway)

                                                                  3. Referring to the non-existent Iraq-Pakistan border (the two countries do not touch at all IRAN is in between)

                                                                  4. Joking about killing the Iranians by raising American exports of cigarettes to the country + the "bomb bomb bomb Iraq" "JOKE"

                                                                  5. Wrongfully including in his definition of the surge, every OTHER factor for the decreased violence in Iraq. I can't recall exactly which program McCain was on originally but it was re-aired on MSNBC when McCain talked about the Sunni awakening AND the increased Iraqi Police presence as "ALL part of the Surge"

                                                                  6. He also messed up the date of when the surge began.

                                                                  7. He also claimed at one point that troops were back to pre-surge levels when in fact they weren't, not by a long shot.

I could go on. I really could, but I think you get my point by now.

I watched it and now want to vote Paris for president and T bone pickens for vice president. Is it realistic? Probably not but I think the popularity of this video goes to show that we are all tired of career politicians double talking, flip flopping and living a life daily that is dependant on what wall street or the oil companies think. Living week to week in search of a sign of a good economy. This video, while a spoof, was refreshing and inspiring! Once career politicians get to Washington, they really can not move anything. while our engineers are making huge strides in alternative fuels, Washington is moving at a "snails pace". I am sure this is due to the fact that no one in Washington can agree as they debate about how their state will benefit. Paris for president! she may be one of the uber wealthy but she is who she is and I believe it is time to for someone practical and not a politician, but also someone who is comfortable touring Europe. can you imagine Mideast negotiations when Paris brings them a small miniature puppy! How can you not have peace? Besides Reagan was a celebrity and he was not so bad? Paris for president!!!!!!

McCain belongs to the past. Notice in the polls his overwhelming support about votes over 65. He admits that he cannot even send an email (though he did learn to "make a Google"). His only energy policy is "drill drill drill" when we really need new ways to solve our energy problems. I don't think Obama is perfect but at least the guy knows how to send an email!

The one thing he definitely needs to do, though, is to start treating McShame like the racist bully he is, and to just ignore him! As long as he fires back with criticism, McBlame is getting exactly what he wants, attention! When he does not get it, he cries like a little baby. (all that is missing is the pacifier!)

Just ignore him and let him make a fool of himself, without any help, which he does just fine on his own anyway; and focus on the issues and run full steam ahead on into the Whitehouse. That way the old white haired dude, will really have no one to blame but himself! The trouble with McSame though, is he will still blame everyone else but himself for his failure to win!

To attack his political rival, Obama, and compare him to pop celebrities, people that have almost NOTHING to do with anything either side talks about? Is he trying to show everyone how ignorant and dumb he is? The fact that he would even use an attack like this disgust me. What have the leaders of our world come to? I used to believe that even though celebrities would act childish, and do funny things or have petty stupid arguments, because they are people to. But when POLITICAL LEADERS, people that represent our nation as a whole, our sad, pathetic nation, do childish and immature things like this, it makes me sick. To think that someone who is a serious competitor to lead our entire country has come to this, saddens me. Not only that, but the fact that people arn't making as big a deal out of this (although it has become a fairly big issue, I'm surprised its not bigger) as they should. The minute McCain aired or even was thinking of airing this ad, im surprised he did not lose most of his endorsements. Who wants to endorse such an asinine candidate, who obviously has a warped view on what should and shouldn't be accepted in a campaign?

Comparing the old wrinkly white haired dude to the Crypt Keeper was great!! And for those who are complaining that we are wasting our time with Paris...well she would not have been involved in this if it weren't for McCain. PS - The Hilton family and the Spears family are registered GOP!! McCain is so stupid he doesn't even know who his supporters are!!

I am not a fan of Paris Hilton, but she clearly has a right to not be swiftboated.
