Biden was the right choice. I think Richardson would have been equally good, but Biden would serve in the role of attack dog better. That is what Obama needs most at this time. Oh well now Richardson would have to settle for Sec. of State, not a bad consolation prize if he gets it.

This is great news for McCain in my opinion. McCain is a lock. OBama could not pick someone who could upstage him so that narrowed the field down to 3rd tier players.

I agree. Richarsdon will make an excellent Sec. of State, although I think that Biden could do well as Sec of State, too. Richardson has a keen mind that should not be dismissed as the cabinet positions are considered.

Obviously, most comments here are for Obama supporters and those who never supported Clinton. I speculate because of the Richardson comment - he has no integrity! Right now, I am disappointed. I like Biden, but I just feel like Hillary did deserve it more. I think you will all see just how interesting this race has become - only it may not be what you think. Already people from Pennsylvania were calling in saying they could not vote for this ticket. A professor said he could never face his students if he voted for a plagiarizer. This is not sour grapes - just honest raw emotions. I feel sad right now. I don't think it helped me that the pundits kept saying Hillary was not even vetted. That makes me angry - very angry. That did not help matters - all Hillary supporters are angry at that I would imagine. Again, I do like Biden, but he tried to run and had to drop out way back when. Hillary fought and fought. If you did not support her, you will say something nasty instead of being reasonable. I will be curious to see how other supporters weigh in - not just the Obamanites.

I'd like to address the fact that Hillary and Obama agree on more than 90% of all the issues in this campaign. I find it shocking that some of you would abandon the democratic party and Hillary's ideas because she is not the nominee. Now that she is backing our candidates, are you really going to betray her by not voting for at least her ideas. You serious think that she will not be a consultant to the party? Plus no one has addressed the situation and comment that she made regarding VP. She said she has shown no interest in it, but would do what she can to help. How do we know that she didn't turn it down for personal reasons or other. Maybe she believes that she can do more as a senator. Maybe Obama believes that too and wants to keep her there. Maybe they believe that because its true. Its common knowledge that a VP has less pull with the government than most representatives and senators. Research your ideas people, please. You're making us look like idiots.

Also, I've read comments that say that Obama addresses "change" and is the "correct vote for change," but "doesn't say how he is going to change things." That is complete BS. All you have to do is visit barackobama.com and click on issues. Its that simple. He tells exactly how he will bring change to the economy, the war, environment, taxes, and so much more. You don't even have to dig. Its one single click once you get to the site. It takes less thought and action than creating the complaint comment you posted. C'mon people. Think. BO2008.

I am a early supporter of Hillary and consider switching to McCain, but with Biden is VP candidate, Obama has earned my vote...Hope he will carry Virginia! (2 Dem senators and a Dem gov). The other thing that bother me is that all of the so call Blue Collar Whites who are Republican DO NOT realize that the Democratic Party is the Party that really protect their interest (ie, strong union, higher minimum wage, health care for everyone,....). And the Republican only look out for the wealthy. And I am considered myself a blue collar WHITES...common folks, wake up and smell the coffee!

Obama touts "change" left and right. Mokis G., I took your advice and visited Obama's website. He does not, as you say, "exactly" say how he's going to bring about this "change". For example, he says that he will 'simplify our tax code so it provides greater opportunity and relief to more Americans'. Sounds great, it really does. As an accountant I agree. But, as usual, Obama makes things sound great by being very broad. Where's the "how" it will happen? And you say that Obama tells us "exactly" how he's going to bring about "change"? Whatever!

Just a thought to Kim. I think that Hillary took herself out of contention by the way that she treated Obama in the primaries. There was a moment where she could chose to continue with a graceful campaign or fight with teeth and nails... what they called the kitchen sink. She chose the latter and while it was her right to do so it meant that she would attack bellow the belt even when she had little chance of winning. It just made it impossible to reconcile in terms of Obama having someone he felt comfortable with.

Even the whole negotiation that she forced before she would endorse him, and the fight to have her name submitted for voting lacked grace... What would have appeased her supporters would have been a genuine show of support for Obama. A crusade on her part to ease people's minds about him. But the truth is she has not healed from her loss and her speeches on his behalf still lack conviction. She doesn't believe in him and Obama while not perfect has a great many strengths that we can all admire. He needed someone who will communicate that to America. Because this election is not about which candidate wins, its about making sure America wins.

It saddens me to think that people are willing to mortgage the next 4-8 years of their lives and the future of our nation out of bitterness from losing an election. Perhaps Hillary could have been better than Obama, that we will never know... But I am sure he is better for America than McCain. That is what matters now.

      Shadow,
Does McCain say "exactly" how he will improve the economy. I don't think so. Not by your definition. I think you're expecting Obama to lay out his plan specifically, but I think it would be different for each individual. You speak as if you want him to tell you how he would do your taxes themselves. Its difficult for him to get any more specific than he does because it would alienate people and people tend to back away from ideas when only a small amount of others are involved.

Also, perhaps you didn't read it all. First it discusses that he would devote 20billion to tax rebates. I don't think he needs to be very specific about that. I think it to mean that he would split 20billion between us all. I think it speaks for itself. Next it says he will provide tax cuts to working families, 500 per person, 1000 per couple. Then, it says he will eliminate income taxes for seniors who make less than 50k. And here is the best part, the part that you quoted incorrectly:

"Simplify Tax Filings for Middle Class Americans: Obama will dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes. Obama will ensure that the IRS uses the information it already gets from banks and employers to give taxpayers the option of pre-filled tax forms to verify, sign and return. Experts estimate that the Obama proposal will save Americans up to 200 million total hours of work and aggravation and up to $2 billion in tax preparer fees."

THIS is the whole quote. Don't think you can twist things for your benefit. Obama supporters are too smart for that. WE do our research.

This would save me at least two days (I am not an accountant and own 2 small businesses). I'm not saying this is a solution, but its definitely a more specific example. You left out several parts of this quote attempting to prove a point against mine. I think its pretty specific. Going from 2 days to 5 minutes I would imagine would eliminate all the crap and rhetoric that falls is contained in the tax forms, not to mention all the paper we would save. It says it will accomplish this by using pre-filled tax forms. I think that refers to a form that is already filled out. That's pretty specific, I'd say. Specific is another word for exact.

Even if you have strict guidelines for explanations, you must admit that after reading the whole thing, of course, you feel much better about him as a candidate or at least have a working knowledge of his ideas, which are different and much more likely to bring about positive change than someone who has voted with Bush 90% of the time.

Those who are Hillary backers that say they will now be voting for McBush are very scary people. They don't really care what happens to this country as long as their precious little girl got in. Now that Obama has chosen Biden all of Hillary's girls are quiting and taking their balls home. To the Hillary Supporters threatening to vote for McCain (some of whom I'm sure are Republican trolls): it appears you care more about your feminine ideals then the reality of politics. First off, Hillary did not want to get vetted for VP, nor did she want to play second fiddle. She can still do a lot of good as Senator of NY. Second, if you watched any of the prejudiced primaries in this country (esp. WV), the ugly fact of America is that a Black Man/White Woman ticket would have handed McCain the win with a bow wrapped around it. Sometimes you have to accept personal defeat for the good of the majority… only immature, selfish egotistical supporters would retaliate by voting for McCain, but apparently that describes at least some of you. Please, consider putting your country first, which has been decimated by the Neo-Cons and Religious Intolerant, and vote for the ticket that can get us back on track at home and abroad. O-Biden O8! Please, Please, Please. WAKE UP.

I love reading the comments that Biden is a man of integrity. Gimmee a break!! The public has such a short memory. This man was accused of plagiarizing a speech, was guilty of plagiarizing a paper in college, and lied about getting a full scholarship and about where he finished in his class. How does that equate to a man of integrity? We need to start making our elected officials' actions mean something! I for one won't stand for a proven liar to be lauded as a man of integrity. I voted for Bill Clinton twice and I would never do it again because he was an immoral man who lied to the American people. Don't stand for politicians who lie to you! We as Americans deserve better than this. Many good people have died defending our right to vote and for our freedom. Start taking it seriously and don't just laud someone as a great man without looking into it.

Who here among us hasn't LIED about something? Hmmm? No one is perfect. Bill Clinton admittedly lied about the Lewinsky affair. But has that "affair" brought harm to our country overall during that time? No, it has not. Bush & Co has lied to this country more than anyone can count and has put us into this QUAGMIRE that he labled "The War On Terror". One point I will give you credit for is that WE AMERICANS DESERVE BETTER!! And with that said, I believe that Obama/Biden will be a great start to get us back on the right path to prosperity for ALL AMERICANS.

While I loved Biden's quick reference to Rudy - "A noun, a verb, and 9/11" - I would caution a previous poster who suggested that Biden paraphrase that and turn it into "A noun, a verb, and POW" when talking about McCain. Biden would SO risk alienating a key voting block....veterans and senior citizens. Keep in mind so many of them live in Florida, a battleground state if there ever was one!

Email from Hillary just came in -

I want to congratulate Joe Biden on becoming the vice presidential running nominee. Joe is a friend and colleague, a strong experienced leader and a devoted public servant. I look forward to not only seeing him in Denver next week but on the trail as I work to help Barack Obama and Joe Biden along with many other Democratic candidates campaign this fall.

Democrats are going to have a great and unified convention in Denver next week, and I can't wait to be there.

I can't thank everyone enough for your generous support over the past few weeks. It means so much to me personally to know that I can count on your continued friendship as I work hard to help elect Barack Obama and our other Democratic candidates in 2008.

This is going to be a week to remember filled with many memorable and exciting moments as Democrats come together. I hope you will join me in celebrating.

Thank you again for your hard work and your generous spirit.

        Hillary

Republican logic is amazing: Bush picked Cheney because Bush had absolutely NO foreign policy experience, but Obama (who has more foreign policy experience than Bush had in 2000) is criticized for picking Biden to bolster the Dem ticket's foreign policy credentials.

However, even more shocking is the lack of PATRIOTISM on the part of John McCain and the Republican Party...because one of the two tickets will be elected, so any PATRIOTIC American wants the best two tickets to choose from, and Biden does bring something important to the Democratic ticket, just like McCain's choice of Pawlenty or Romney will bring something important (someone with the business experience that McCain lacks completely) to the Republican ticket.

In fact, if there is a downside to Obama's choice of Biden, it is that Bush picked Cheney because Bush had absolutely NO foreign policy experience...and Bush-Cheney have been a foreign policy disaster from start to finish.

In response, this was my first post. It is true feelings, so there is nothing more I can say about that. I did not say I would vote for McCain. Biden is a good man and was smart enough not to endorse anyone until now. That is why Richardson should have been out. However, I am looking for what Biden will do for the ticket.

But to stay on point - to David - Hillary made Obama a stronger candidate. If he went into this thing with kid gloves, he would be way behind. If not for Hillary's tenacity - and do not fault her for those who said things she did not endorse herself - the public would just now be finding out about Rev. Wright, and Rezko, etc. She ran a strong finish - the only reason she lost was because she did not become a fighting contender until after Iowa. If she had started out strong, she would be the nominee now. So, to claim that she took herself out of contention is kind of condescending. She was forced to fight harder because she is a woman and a Clinton. Look at what Obama has been made to stoop to. It happens in the world of politics because you have no other choice. This was the job for President - you better be willing to fight for it. People hate strong women who act like that - look at Martha Stewart. So, to David, I cannot help my feelings. I was being honest - if people cannot live with honest emotions then that is fine - just do not belittle it. I am sure I am not the only one by the look of this board.

He was not my choice and I am disappointed, but I am not a Republican pretending to be anybody else than I am. My posts have been honest and have been meant to bring on more discussion.

Biden and Richardson are the only two people who ran in the primaries who have the experience to be president in the first place. I'm very glad that Obama chose Joe. He's a fighter and he's more intelligent than anybody whom McCain could choose. Also, remember that a lot of dems supported Hillary. I did too, at first, but TRUE DEMOCRATS cannot turn their back on the party. I've seen some really disheartning comments on here and it disturbs me. DO YOU PEOPLE REALLY WANT FOUR MORE YEARS OF A REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT AND THE CHOICES THEY MAKE??? More wars...more national debt...more spying into our personal records....more deceit....More Karl Rove's tactic aka Schmidt?
I can't imagine a republican, who was disappointed in McCain as t he party's choice, voting for Obama instead. That's what some of you have been saying.

I don't believe Richardson will make a good member of any cabinet. His own state of NM is a mess, rampant poverty infrastructure not maintained...well actually since I will be voting for McCain, it really doesn't matter...I will just sleep much better knowing that McCain will be running the country and not the Obama side show.

                        Attention: Shadow 442533
It seems that some of us are quick to critique, but don't seem to have much basis to comments that are not constructive. Here are some facts as reported on June 12, 2008 on the taxprof blog by Paul L Caron: Re: Comparison of the McCain and Obama Tax Plans
Here is the bottom line: If enacted, the Obama and McCain tax plans would have radically different effects on the distribution of tax burdens in the United States. The Obama tax plan would make the tax system significantly more progressive by providing large tax breaks to those at the bottom of the income scale and raising taxes significantly on upper-income earners. The McCain tax plan would make the tax system more regressive, even compared with a system in which the 2001–06 tax cuts are made permanent. It would do so by providing relatively little tax relief to those at the bottom of the income scale while providing huge tax cuts to households at the very top of the income distribution.

This certainly helps me decide who I would support. Not supporting anybody is a very weak reason to feel entitled to criticize everyone. The goal is to resolve the mess we've inherited from two terms of irresponsible governing

I am what many would consider an independent, always willing to give all persons the benefit of the doubt. In high school history, I learned to like both JFK and Ronald Reagan. I even have to give credit to Bill Clinton for his work during his two terms that truly made the tax breaks of GWB's two terms possible. I believe in limited universal health care that would offer to the middle class what we already give to the poor. Currently the working, and non-working poor receive Medicaid. Children of the working lower-middleclass receive healthcare through federal and state funding - in Louisiana it is LaChip. I have come to believe in the need for less research into the needless and bizarre, and the movement of those funds into projects to help inner city schools and youth programs. As a practicing attorney for the last 10 years, I have come to the conclusion that our judicial system has a history of improperly using the death penalty, to the extent that I would ask for a moratorium until there is a universal system in which we are 100% sure that a person is guilty of a crime, not just beyond a reasonable doubt - no more criminal witnesses, but two or more sound witnesses to the crime itself, a hard burden to bear, but in line with Biblical teaching.

What I cannot abide by is the fact that Democrats will overlook the fact that their nominee truly holds no life to be sacred. I do not personally believe in a woman's right to choose, but the courts have said that it exists prior to viability and only prior to birth. The Constitution guarantees that all persons "born or naturalized" have the right to life, liberty, and property, and that the government may not abridge these rights without due process. Barack "infanticide" Obama has made it clear that he is okay with a mother who has a failed abortion that results in a live birth ordering that her living child be killed. So now, the Constitution does not apply to those born. So who is eating away at whose rights. Next he will okay the killing of children born with disabilities that the parents don't want to deal with, and then adults who have been stricken with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease or AIDS.

I, too, want change. But not at the expense of others. If he will take away the rights of one citizen, I don't believe he will hesitate to take away the rights of others. Don't be fooled. Obama needs to be the President for everyone, not just the radical left wing.

As for taxes, be sensible. The poor don't pay taxes, and the truly rich already pay the majority of the tax monies paid to the U.S. government. The middle class always bear the burden, and don't think that that will change. Just look at the Clinton administration when taxes actually went up for everyone. If taxes are increased against corporations and the rich, that tax will be passed on to the poor and middle class through increased prices. The rich will never eat that cost. Wealth cannot be redistributed without the government running the whole show, and look how the Soviet Union turned out.

We should be concentrating on finding a president that believes in the rights of everyone and can work to create a society where everyone matters. Reward volunteerism. Assist those with drug addictions, put mentors in the schools to assist with children from broken homes - a CASA program for school children who just need to feel support. When we all become concerned for each other, then we stand a chance as a nation, but Barack Obama is not the man to bring about that change until he recognizes the rights of everyone that the Constitution protects.

Obama does not believe in abortion and does not believe he has the right to choose for someone else.

The tax policies were compared above and show that Obama's plan will help middleclass Americans.

And Obama has proven his respect for people - even to personally phone and apologize to someone he offended.

Your comments appear to show that you believe what you want to believe, rather than what is.

The thing that really annoys me is when people don't study or have no interest in history. The original taxes collected by Uncle Sam was collected from prosperous businesses and the wealthy. At that time the concept of taxation was to do no harm to those who had very little and only had a paycheck. Then WWI came along and the war had to be paid for hence the income tax with the understanding it was only to be for the duration of the war. After WWII the income tax was a given and it remained even though it does create a hardship for the lowest paid among us.

You all should do a little digging....what party made the temporary taxes permanent? What party keeps finding ways to stifle growth and progress by passing senseless legislation? What party wastes valuable tax dollars anually by worrying about steroids in sports, the late spring call-up of "BIG OIL"(only to do nothing about self suffiency)? These people always Talk The Talk, but when push comes to shove, all they can ever do is blame the other side. They want Teachers to get higher pay (I'm all for it ),but are against holding them responsible for failure. There are many glaring examples of high per pupil expenditures, and a dismal outcome.Liberals want to instill a "Feelgood" philosophy in our children but not give them the tools they need to compete. Many Teachers struggle to do their jobs, but those few are hamstrung by uncaring parents and schoolboards and superintendents who are incompetent, overpaid and then "Fired" with huge Buyouts only to be hired by another school system elsewhere. We as a nation need to firm up.We can barely compete with the Third World when it comes to education (very little money spent there),and the best example I can offer is the system I came from. When it was run by Conservatives it excelled, and had national rank. After the bleeding hearts took over,it fell through the cracks to the point where the state put it on the watch list.Is this what we want...and more of it?
I'm not tickled by McCain, but the alternative is guaranteed to bring us more whining and fingerpointing and with this ticket daily footage of Biden's sarcasm and arrogance.Let's put the last two years in context:Both houses of Congress were taken over by the Dems and the price of gasoline doubled. What did Pelosi and Reed do.....ZIP.

If you look at the vote, only 26.5% believe that Biden was not the best choice - so the large percentage of negative postings obviously does not reflect the results of the poll. What conclusion can be derived from that? For me it represents the number of Republican shills that have come here to try and stir up trouble.

There never was such a large number of actual Democratic party voters that were Hillary supporters and would have really voted for her in November. Instead there has been a large subversion ploy generated by Limbaugh and the Repubs to make it seem that Hillary was a contender in hopes of disrupting the election. I give NO credence to the "Hillary or else" postings on this site. If you are a true Democrat and you actually are upset enough by Hillary's loss that you will vote McCain or abstain from voting, then I say good riddance to you and you can join Lieberman at the Republican convention. You are not needed, appreciated nor respected by the true Democrats who are going to issue in change this election.

IF there really was any viable Hillary movement, then take the 26.5% who disagree with choosing Biden and subtract 1/2 as Republican shills, then divide the remainder by 1/2 to determine the votes that Obama has lost to any true Hillary followers that will not support him in this election and you are left with only 6.625 of the voters - then if you divide that by 1/2 to determine how many will change party to vote McCain and you are left with only 3.3125% of the Democratic party voters that Obama has lost. Not enough for me to shed any tears over. SO whine, whine, whine all you want.

Think. BO2008.

OOOH. Still trying to hang onto to that one Xoxiss?! Too bad. The official document was given to factcheck. org (a non partisan website that has found Obama guilty of a few things, but not this). They re-photographed it from several different angles and had it check out by many. It is real. He is American born and bread. Maybe its cause he doesn't look like you. That's where you're prejudices come about. I find that is a common trait of republicans...if someone doesn't look like you, then they are probably bad news...? typical republican. hey at least its predictable.

Typical republican? Typical liberal. If you disagree it must be about race. Calling everyone bigots doesn't make it so. But I guess it gives you something to be righteous about. Maybe we have the ability to look past race and vote on issues with logic rather than with emotion.

The remarks that are being posted by the rightwingers demonstrate their obvious ignorance of the facts. They really do not have much to boast about in terms of any significant accomplishments by W. and the rubber stamp Congress that he enjoyed for six of the eight years that he has been in office so, as always, they try to do their best to distract us from W's failed and miserable presidency by employing K.Rove type tactics to smear BO and his excellent choice for VP.

Most of the negative comments and complaints that you read about BO and his VP choice are from people that are envious of their successes and accomplishments in their personal and political lives, particularly BO who by the age of 47 has done more for people in need than most other politicians who have preferred to serve the needs and wants of lobbysts and the special interests in Congress instead. Many in America today would give anything to be in BO's position at this moment.

BO was born into a regular working class family and he married a woman with a similar background. Like many of us, he grew up understanding the struggles that poor and middle income families go through every day in their lives. There is nothing in his background that indicates that he has ever enjoyed anything more than what regular middle class families normally posses, contrary to the wealthy and privilaged lifestyles that the likes of Bush, Cheney, Romney and McCain have enjoyed.

As a single parent, his mother felt the need to apply for food stamps assistance at one point while caring for BO by herself. BO worked out his way through college and law school and just finished paying his student loans a few years ago. He turned down lucrative offers from Wall Street and preferred to settle in Chicago instead to serve as a Community Organizer making $15K a year assisting unemployed people from all walks of life get re-trained and obtain new jobs due to the changes of our global and ever evolving modern economy.

As an State Senator and now as a US Senator from Illinois, he has a established a record of passing legislation that promotes the expansion of health care benefits to poor and working class people, laws to reform the criminal justice system and strenghtening law enforcement to help reduce the crime rate, ethics reform and laws to fight the illegal traffic of weapons. Throughout his life BO has and continues to demonstrate to be a true leader and a man with great ideals and vision for himself, his community, the people that his has represented and, as our future President, he will do the same with the same dignity and honor for his countrymen.

BO is also devoted family man, a good husband and father, a man of principles, an excellent legal scholar and a man who believes in fairness, the rule of law and economic justice. He will help to heal and unite this Nation across party, religious and ethnic lines. I have no doubt that he will restablish the image of the US across the world by reaching out diplomatically to friends and foes alike rather than using the military as the first and, at times, the only option as Dick "in an undisclosed location" Cheney and the neo cons have and continue to advocate. We have a Pentagon but we also have a State Department. Both are equally important in managing and protecting US interests abroad. BO and JB uderstand this concept and both have and will continue to demonstrate their wisdom in managing US national security and foreign policy once they get in office. For these and many other reasons all of us should throw our support behind BO & JB.

Obama made a huge mistake in not choosing Hillary Clinton as his running mate. Biden is part of the existing system and is not a change candidate. Obama's whole premise of change is now nothing but a joke. I would never vote for him and will now actively campaign against him. Had he chosen Hillary Clinton, I would have worked equally as hard for his campaign.

As a liberal I've supported the Democratic nominee even when they hasn't been my first choice. I sucked it up and supported Mondale, B. Clinton, Gore and Kerry. B. Clinton was my 4th choice in 92. The moderates have dominated the party, yes I consider them all moderates, and if you can't get behind the nominee then you are not a true democrat. I consider Hillary a Hawk just like Lieberman, but would have relunctantly supported even her.

Are you kidding me? You would rather have another four years of McBush and the corporate cronies than vote for B.O. It is a shame that you are so single minded that you would rather vote against your interests than vote for Obama. His and Hillary's Policies are so close that is why the primaries were so close. The shame of it is that I would have voted for Clinton if Obama had lost, because anything is better than what we have. It is a sad day when you will sell your grandchildren down the river because of sour grapes. I hope you take a look at the supreme court, social programs, health care, social security, and the constitution, just to name a few subjects that may come up in the next administration.

I understand Hillary's supporters are disappointed. But is this how you show respect for all she has worked for, by trying to make sure someone who goes against everything she stands for is elected? You understand the impact of a McCain presidency? You understand he wants Roe overturned and considers his SCOTUS ideals to be Scalia and his pupet Thomas? You understand he wants to allow corporations to run rough-shod over all the less-than-wealthy? You understand McCain wants to allow the likes of Exxon-Mobile to reap obscene profits while Americans continue to lose their jobs and homes? That he sees no problem with those who are responsible for the mortgage crisis getting huge bonuses while many Americans have to choose between heat and food for their families? Please, don't play silly, petty revenge politics with the lives of Americans hanging in the balance. For many it WILL mean life and death. Do you want to be responsible for more of Americas youth sent to Iraq and then Iran to die for his machismo fix? That is what you are insuring with this sort of rhetoric. This is way too serious for grudges, this is where we have to act like responsible adults.

I totally agree with your comment. Obama should have done the right thing and picked Hillary Clinton for VP; but he couldn't bring himself to do it.

Obama will loose big time without her, his judgement is so totally flawed. Also, he didn't even send people their Text Messages; of course this could be a big joke. Since Obama loves Drama, you know Stadiums and the Brandenburg Gate and all that.
I think the Text Message thing was just to get peoples contact information so that his campaign can ask for more money.

You have to give his marketing and fundraising people credit, they are brilliant, but very manipulative. They even have a campaign to recruit children (check it out on his website). There is a strategy plan to get children involved with Obama's campaign in order to lobby their parents. I think that is a little creepy and over the top. At this point organizing children under 12 to manipulate their parents when they really don't have enough life experience to make a decision on choosing the POTUS...the means justifies the ends for Obama. Whatever works seems to be okay.

However, regarding the VP choice, I think he made a big, big mistake. Lots of people thought (including me) Obama would really make the decision to bring the party together
and choose Hillary Clinton for VP. Too Bad, he had the chance. NoBama in 08

You want a war monger guy of the past to further drag down the US? I've never seen such lack of reason in all my years of following presidential elections. Wake up guys! Obama is as smart as Hillary and will be a great president, and will get huge respect from people all over the world. Biden is experienced and down to earth. They will be a great team.

I don't understand people who say "I wanted Hillary, but since Obama chose Biden I'm voting for McCain!" I liked both Hillary and Obama, but did indeed vote for Obama, and honestly as far as POLICY goes see much more in common between the two of them then with McCain. To me it's like saying; "Well I liked Dean, so I'm going to vote for Bush instead of Kerry!" in 2004, way to jump from one end of the spectrum to the other people... I'm also confused as to how this is "A slap in the face to women", I believe the real slap in the face to women would be to choose Hillary just because she's a woman, or just because he thought that he would be able to win easier with her on the ticket, demoting her from a real candidate to the equivalent of a boat show model... What a step forward for women that would be...

I suspect anyone who is calling names on either side of this might be a Republican attempting to cause trouble. We Democrats all agree on an enormous number of things. McCain would just continue the disaster of the last eight years. Let's all realize that either Clinton or Obama is a far more agreeable candidate than someone who has essentially absorbed every single economic policy of the Bush administration and will put the Supreme Court away for the next 20 to 40 years

How sad is it that there can be more fellowship found in the battlefield on hostile land than here in our own country when it is clearly in crisis. To blatantly defect from moral duty to ourselves and our children, and vote for McCain, who I admit, as a serviceman, is individually an admirable man; but not rogue enough to stand up against the agenda of the few in the neo-conservative movement. If you don't understand how reckless it is to vote for a candidate who you KNOW will not serve the best interest of you and your children, think of a dear friend of mine who gave his life 7 days after arriving in Iraq 10 days after his newborn daughter was born when you cast that ballot this Fall. Think for yourself

If you're a true democrat you'll support the party, and not work towards it's loss in November. What was it going to look like if the Republicans started showing clips of all of the low life comments she made about him during the Primary. GET REAL. 49% of the electorate does not think this woman should be President.

Sounds to me like we need to be asking what is wrong with you? It's people like you that make all Americans seem simple minded. Barack Obama is not islamic, he is a bi-racial christian man, and it's people like you with your idiotic stereotypes and misinformation that has lead to this situation that our country is in today. You called on Jesus to help us. I will pray that he helps you and your bigoted ideology.

You republicans need to stop making comments pretending to be Dems for Hilliary. A TRUE Democrat cannot vote for McCain unless they want the Bush policies to continue. I just do not want to hear any complaining from the REAL Hilliary supporters if McCain wins and appoint Supreme Court Justices that go against WOMEN issues...If you really care about WOMEN issues, put your money where your mouth is...It's your choice!!!

May I suggest you use this energy to help Hillary pay off her debt. She and Bill are going to drag the party down begging for money.

I have received two emails from her already asking for money and raffling off seats to the convention or raffling seats for dinner.

If you really support and love her, HELP her.

You really need Jesus in your life! I have served with many Islamic AMERICANS and found them to be just as patriotic as christians. You see even if Obama was Islamic what difference does it make? If he were Jewish what difference would it make? What if he were Catholic, or God forbid Mormon(Rommney) what the hell difference does it make? I think that you have not only been misinformed as to what this Nation stands for actually you are completely antithetical of whats great about America! This is a wonderful nation founded on freedom from religious tyranny. WE hold these truths to be self evident that all (white men) are created equal? No my friend it does say all men and regardless of their religious affiliation they are endowed with certain unalieanable rights. These rights if youre a christian stem from God. let the wheat and chaff grow together and God will separate them, but if we let you tell it I guess that'd be McCain huh? And who has the Messiah complex?

Obama/Biden 08 is great! I cant wait to say First Mama Obama!

Why does everyone assume that just because we do not support this ticket that we support McCain? That is absurd. Nobody claims that McCain is the candidate of change, however, logically, anybody will be a candidate of change!

I think this is pretty serious. Even though Kerry got the nomination, people did not think like this. Maybe it is wrong - but look people, it is very real. Obama needed to consider unifying a disgruntled group of people as well as figuring out how to get the swing states. He picked a good man - I really like Biden - however I don't see how he brings the party together, nor how he brings Obama some of those big swing states like Florida, Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, and even Pennsylvania.

Wa-Wa-Wa, cry me a river. How can you say that Hillary would have been a better choice. most of the ideas between Hillary and O'bama are almost Identical. So what your saying really is you want one policy and that's it. Barack has spoken and his words is change. If he wanted same old blah blah blah he would have picked Hillary. (BUT) The one thing everyone forgets is this Hillary said it herself "I'm Suspending my run for President" she did not quit, bow out, or give up she suspended it and she is the first one to talk at the convention. So she still could and it would probably rip apart the DNC and get nominated. I HIGHLY DOUBT IT. The last issue is this you now say your voting Republican, so your going to go over and vote for McCain who graduated from the military academy number "894" of "900" great put another D Student in the White House. Since all Bush has done is jumped at items and answers just like a "D" Student. Think before you jump Froggy, you could get another Bush just by a different name. YES I SUPPORT O'bama and everything he has done so far. I don't hide my name is Carl and I'm from Virginia. Have a great vote and remember the only one that supports McCain right now is the ones who held him captive for 5 years. Brainwashed is what it sound like to me for McCain side. and the rest of the World Think CHANGE is COMING.

"Obama made a huge mistake in not choosing Hillary Clinton as his running mate. Biden is part of the existing system and is not a change candidate. Obama's whole premise of change is now nothing but a joke. I would never vote for him and will now actively campaign against him. Had he chosen Hillary Clinton, I would have worked equally as hard for his campaign..."

What a joke!!! As a realist and registered Republican, I find it very hard that people like yourself are allowed to vote. Your ignorance is completely disgusting. How is Biden more a part of the existing system than Hillary? How is Hillary not a part of the existing system? Did you just crawl up from underneath a rock for the last 20 years? Did you forget her husband was Gov. of Ark. and the President of the U.S.? Did you forget she played an active role in his "establishment" for 8 years with the same results of no real change in policy (I must say..he did do wonders for the economy)? Did you forget she was elected to the Senate (by popular vote obviously) and was barely a NY resident at the time (how in the world that happened, I'll never know...which is an argument within itself...how in the world could she know what NY folks needed when she's lived in Ark. for a majority of her adult life)? So, basically what your saying is that had Obama chosen Hillary that would have represented real change? What because she's a woman? Sorry, that doesn't qualify. I would never dispute a woman being President or VP. Hillary fought a long hard race, granted, but she was outsmarted and you know it. She went into the primaries with a chip on her shoulder thinking the nomination belonged to her and eventually, got played. Her strategy was, obviously, all wrong from the jump.

It is beyond me how people will do things out of spite, endure the next 4 - 8 years of business as usual and think they'll come out ahead. After McCain neglects real diplomacy and has us in war (again, like Mr. Bush) with Iran, people like you will be satisfied when our children and grandchildren are sent to die because of arrogance? Obviously, you voted for Clinton because and only because she's a woman. You can't agree with what she says and believes in, but when she doesn't get nominated turn your back on the party. That is so backwards. You've just set the feminist movement back 30 years just by voting for McCain. He just said that he'd be a pro-life President. Hello? I consider myself a Republican, but even I know that electing a pro-life judge will make this country worse off than it is now. Can you imagine how many back door abortions there will be and the lives that will be destroyed (mother and child)? You really are ignorant and any Clinton supporters that would turn their back on Obama / Biden are in for a rude awakening. What vested interest does Obama have with the current oil companies? None. Find out the real facts on his policy and real needed change for the big oil companies that are ripping off the average American citizen. Obviously, you have no idea on McCain's. I guess you've been spending too much time listening to McCain rant on about something that he doesn't even know about.

McCain is strong in one area folks that's war. He even admitted he didn't understand the economy and how it works. It's kind of funny how for the first Obama / McCain debate he wants to talk about foreign policy and nothing else. How ignorant is that? What, the economy and energy issues don't deserve the same attention in the first debate?

So, you be stupid and vote for someone that has no real interest in the average person and turn your back on the only hope of real change. If McCain gets elected because of ignorant folks like yourself, who'll vote for anyone but Obama or who decide to stay home, don't complain when suicide bombers come to our country because of ignorance.

Get real or get lost...nothing is guaranteed in the next 4 years much less the next minute.

Hopefully there is enough time for Hillary Clinton to campaign with Obama/Biden to straighten out her supporters who view this selection as wrong. As others have stated, both Obama and Clinton agree on more than 90% of the issues and Biden was the smart choice for the election. If Hillary was the nominee she also would have been smart to have picked a running mate with similar credentials, not Obama. This is called running with a balanced ticket. To not vote for Obama just because he didn't pick Clinton just makes no logical sense. That is called voting with emotion, and not supporting the candidate who you all worked so hard to get to where she is today. Do you honestly think that by voting for the McCain ticket that would honor her wishes? Do you really want to continue with the policies that have put America in the state it is in today? That would be the worst thing that could happen to this country at this time. So really think about this, please don't vote because you feel slighted, vote for what will be best for the country and the future generations.

It only proves that you were only supporting a genetic makeup, not Hillary herself. Hillary and Obama have incredibly similar beliefs and ideas. How can you support McCain because your genetic choice was not selected by the Dem party. Your ignorance is scary. Grow up. Learn what the issues are. if you agree with McCain's policies, then vote for him. But don't do it out of spite. If you have kids, what does that teach them? "If you don't get your own way, throw a tantrum." In the long run you only end up hurting yourself.

Hillary had done too much negative stuff to turn it over, plus Bill has made things even worse. The best Hillary can do now, if she truely loves America, is to support Obama-Biden ticket by all means, specifically address her supporters to support America by voting for Obama.

I was a registered republican once, I switched to democrat for Hillary, but later I understood that my swith was for Obama.

Also to say the least McCain is more trust worthy Versus Obama/Did anyone watch Saddleback?. I have read the history and facts on Obama. And now I know that Obama is not telling the truth. You people need to investigate the past on Barack Obama..What does he want? A country ruled by Terrorists? Higher gas taxes. Walmart will become a department store that will over charge its customers due to the change in this Country if he becomes President Of The United States Of America.Shame on you Democrats for not standing up and saying no! As an Independent Voter I do not see a VP candidate strengthening a ticket for a Presidential candidate who was attacked during the primary elections by the same VP candidate. Whether it be Biden or Clinton, they both attacked Obama's lack of experience. That being said, had Obama selected Clinton he would have easily added 18 Million Democratic votes and united the Democratic Party. Obama's goal after selecting Clinton would then have been to attract Independent and Republican voters. However that did not happen and he must now try to convince 18 Million Democrats to vote his way first.

Obama/Clinton had a better chance of getting my vote than Obama/Biden. God Bless Everyone!

I don't understand how Americans will constantly vote against their better interest. Unless you are a multi millionaire who is in the oil business and doesn't know how many houses you have, you have no business voting for McBush.

Biden is a very good choice but the jury is still out on Obama as far as I am concerned. He seems to deflect any question of his character as a personal attack while at the same time launching the same old politics as usual attacks against McCain. As far as "change" goes, the President needs the support of Congress to get anything accomplished and I am not sure either candidate can gain that. I wish someone with a plan would run.

I don't know what scares me more: the fact that you believe you are better off with a Republican in office after 8 years of George W. Bush or the fact that you will swallow every lie that the Republicans spoon feed you. I am fortunate enough not to be suffering from the high cost of gasoline and soaring food prices as much as many others, but a great many people are. And these people really don't need Phil Gramm telling them that they are a nation of whiners when they can only afford to partially fill their gas tanks or find it necessary to take a second job to pay for gas.

I am not a die hard Obama fan, but he could hardly do worse than the current administration. The only direction you can go when you are at the bottom of the barrel is up. And we could definitely use the help to restore our image in the international community.

And for those of you that believe a Republican in office will make you safer in terms of national security, consider this. Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, lead us through World War II. I think the Democrats have more than proved they are capable of defending our nation from it's enemies. Providing for the defense has nothing to do with your political affiliation. Think about that the next time you pump $3.70 a gallon gas into your car at ExxonMobil. By the way, ExxonMobil made $1,500 a second in the last quarter thanks to people like you and me.

I try to vote for the best candidate (in my opinion) without regard for party lines. To blindly vote for someone just because they belong to a particular group would be a wasted vote to me. I personally believe that Hillary Clinton was the best candidate with the best plan for the country and I am currently undecided who I will vote for come November.

He has tried to stay away from negative ads and everyone just keeps saying he's too weak. He stands up for himself and he's the same old politics. Hillary will have a place in government where she can continue to do great things. Please don't let this country stay in the hands of the republicans. We've lost enough freedoms as it is!

Think. BO2008.

And, I am tired of them using his being a POW as an excuse for anything and everything! There were some 800 POWs . Why is it that he is the only one who thinks he is entitled to be POTUS because of that? Yes, he endured more than most of us can only imagine, but so did hundreds of others. And when he says the hardest decision he ever had to make was when he refused early release.......well, just read the article by Doctor Phillip Butler, a 1961 graduate of the Naval Academy, and former POW. THEN chose to vote for McCain!

Now it's all gone with the wind and we'll see Mccain laughing all the way to the White House.

And, even the handful avid Hillary supporters I know, have all said that no matter how disappointed they are about her not getting the nom, there's still no way in hell they're going to vote Republican.

What a Pitbull as the family dog and fried chicken and cornbread for white house dinners. What true foriegn policy experience does she have remember what does she have not her husband. and last dispite what you would love to happen 18 million dont think the same way if they are true democratics and not as racist as yourself most will still vote for Obama

I don't understand why the Democrats are unable to figure out how to actually win an election. They could have won easily with Hillary as the nominee, either Presidential or Vice Presidential. Yes its politics, yes they want to win but to take such a selfish outlook on this and spin it to your arguement's advantage is laughable.

If you or anyone who thinks like you had half a brain in their head, they'd realize that voting for McCain won't solve anything because they'd be voting against their own opinions. McCain and the rest of the GOP's agenda isn't the same as Hillary Clinton's... either is Obama's but Obama's is a little closer to what a Clinton suppoter's looking for in leadership.

Moral of the story: Think for yourself, don't be dumb and just listen to stuff the analysts talk about on the Today show.

I totally agree with Ams. I was at a dinner party of 45-65 year old (read BOOMER) types who are dedicated left wing Democrats when we heard the announcement. The room went silent. Many people cried. Mr. Obama did an excellent job of securing a new base of young voters that the Democrats desperately needed. That is wonderful. The only problem with that is that at the same time he has failed to address a huge democratic base (45+% of Democratic voters) who chose Senator Clinton in the primaries. He only needed to be open to embracing these people and their primary concerns - healthcare, for which he has an incredibly weak plan, Social Security reform - ditto, and in particular our long wait for a woman in an executive branch to secure most of Senator Clinton's supporters. Instead he veers more to the middle of the road, chooses a man many older voters consider to be an unstable hothead, and more or less thumbs his nose at a huge known block of voters. Moreover Mr. Biden brings no votes with him. I won't vote for McCain, but neither will I support Obama - he is arrogant, indecisive and inexperienced.

Foreign policy? Only the blind could fail to see the Republicans changing this scene to both appease the anti-war voters (now open to a timeline), and to spread fear about the new Russian menace. The party lost this opportunity and I blame Mrs. Pelosi and Mr. Dean for that. The issue has not been neutralized but it has been brilliantly manipulated.

I am now willing to make a prediction on the election results - McCain in a landslide. Tonight he wrote off Florida, Texas, New York, Massachusettes and Ohio. He never has had a chance in the rest of the South. He is not trusted by a large part of the Jewish population, older women, or veterans. I'm going to go farther and say he will win in Illinois, and have a close battle in California, Washington and New Jersey - but that is it - those are the only states he will carry or come close to carrying.

If I had to choose a headline for tomorrow's paper it would be "Mesmer Chooses Tasmanian Devil as Democratic running mate". No character, no content, no judgement from Mr. Obama and Mr. Exploding Nasty in Biden. I mourn for America and the Democratic Party. What a disaster.

That is insulting, actually. That is one of many issues. Maybe we care just as much about taxes or rising gas prices. Maybe we are smart enough not to get pregnant in the first place. I am pro choice but I take issue with the females who continuously use abortion as their birth control. But that is another debate. Stop thinking women are only worried about the one issue, or that we think McCain, or any other pro-lifer is anti-womens' rights just because they believe passionately against abortion.

Has everyone forgotten the '90's and the fights and screaming and the investigations. the clintons just polarize the country and that is just the facts.

if that is not enough, then think of the 'vetting' that would go on, and the spin the republicans can put on all the donations etc. to bill clinton and his libarary...please just move on and let the country move on from the 90's.

a last comment on 2012...even if obama loses hilary will not win in 2012 because of the lack luster support from her, her husband and her supporters and that too is just the facts.

she should of run in 2004 and then she would be up for reelection but she played it safe even though by then she knew bush was selling the country out.

No matter how much this debate goes on, I think we need to address a way to fix it at this point because he cannot win with this kind of unhappiness and diversity within the party. Perhaps he has a special announcement for the convention that puts Hillary somewhere else in his cabinet. I guess we can wait and see.

Also, I have three college students and you can find the same injustices there. I feel like everyone should earn their pay and be paid on an equal basis - however, I am a little tired of some getting preferencial treatment just because of race and gender. Maybe it is because I experience it first-hand, though. I will research that bill, though. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I haven't really done much research on McCain yet. I have always voted Democratic and that is why. I will certainly look into that.

And if you're just going to vote for McCain because you're mad, then you are doing a disservice to yourselves. McCain couldn't govern his way out of a paper bag. The guy has no vision, no connection to what's really going on in America. Hillary and Obama both do and are both incredibly smart. If you voted for Hillary and now are going to vote for McCain, then you must have some wires crossed somewhere.

I can't believe all the Hillary supporters and their complaints. Just because she didn't win the primary, what is wrong with you democrats that you won't support the Democratic nominee? I'm particularly disappointed by the democrats who are making fools of themselves with their blind loyalty to Hillary. I used to think she'd make a good president, but watching her in the primary changed my mind. If she had been the nominee, I would have voted for her, but she's not. Any democrat is better than another republican. They've made a mess of our country in the last 8 years.

They voted almost identically on everything except the war in Iraq (she voted for, he against). Its my opinion, that that alone would make them a strong duo due to the fact that their opinions are so similiar. She would balance him out and be a good attack dog at home while he went to kiss ass overseas. She has the balls he lacks while they both have the same goals.

With all of the votes she had (18 million plus) she would have brought strength to the ticket. We can only hope that Obama/Biden can beat McCain/??. It should be an interesting race, but I still think that Hillary should have been the Democratic nominee.

I'm white. I'm a woman. I'm over 50. Now to the important part. None of those things matter as much as - I'm human. And I'm a hard working, just barely middle-class American.

I want someone in the White House (and it doesn't really matter what his/her name would be, what color they are, or whether they are male or female) as long as they start working for/representing me.

I want to see change - in our energy policy, in our health care, in our economic growth and in how the rest of the world views us. I want our respect back. And it can't won't happen with more of the current administration's policies.

Referring to Senator Obama as "Bub" in itself reeks of prejudice. Or ignorance?? In addition, after reading comments posted, in quite a few instances it seems some women are so insecure with themselves they take it as a slap in the face because Hillary is not on the ticket. Be ye male or female, to refrain from voting for a qualified candidate for the presidency - whether it be Obama or anyone else -only because of their race, religion, sex, OR the fact you disagree with their choice of a running mate - comes across strongly as prejudice. BTW, I am a registered Independent, always have been, and vote for the best man - or woman.

Likable. Good sense of humor. Heart's in the right place. Great smile. Foreign policy/judiciary committee experience a big plus. His personality will mesh well with Obama's. He will be a fierce debater with McCain's VP pick. He has the gravitas to be president if necessary. Good choice, Senator Obama.

This is a great move for Obama since Joe Biden was my main pick before he dropped out. This is just simply awesome!

However, Biden was born in PA, and so was I, so there's more of a tie there. Seriously, I think Biden's experience in the Senate, particularly in foreign affairs, will fill the gaps in Obama's cv. We have at the present time six years worth oil in untapped reserve; however, that is based on the present level of consumption which increases every year. Furthermore, the oil is not the issue, refinement is. Oil that is stored in the ocean is not of the quality of that currently removed from terrestrial (oh, sorry, I should define for people like you terra from the Latin for earth means land) environments. Drilling is not only not the answer, but , it is not even a stopgap. At the current time, abortion is a law of the land that will not be heard at the supreme court (this is the sentiment of the Bush appointed chief justice Roberts), so no matter how you cast your vote a womens right to choose will be upheld. Lastly, on the flip flop issue, I have over the course of time changed my mind on a number of issues when I became aware of new information. Educated people tend to do that!

How many times has McCain "Flip-Flopped" this year? Abortion, taxes, Falwell, campaign-finance reform, drilling, privatizing social security, torture. All things McCain has reversed his position on, sometimes more than once. He's trying to play to his base, people like pinkblossom, that don't even realize they're being duped. Stop buying the lies and get a fresh dose of truth, Republicans have destroyed this country. Obama/Biden 08!!

Let's win this one together Clinton supporters. No more drama within the ranks. We can take this one if you refuse to be manipulated by shallow promises by the status quo party.

She said too many false things that can't be taken back, She basically ruined her own chances by constantly changing the rules to match her losses. I'm a Republican and I'm voting Obama/Biden. This country cannot withstand another 4 years of a political party devoted to total corruption and destruction of the constitution.

Another fellow Republican for Obama/Biden. McCain scares the living hell out of me. What the hell does he mean "we are all Georgians". McCain wants to re-start the Cold War so badly. McCain is a warmonger, plain and simple. Even as a Republican, I dont see how any Dem for Hillary can vote for McCain. It makes no sense at all. How can a Dem who is anti-war want to vote for a Republican who wants to get tough with Iran, Russia, & China while still keeping troops in Iraq.

You bitter Hillary supporters can vote for McCain if you want, but understand that there Republicans out here who have had enough of the Bush years and are not interested in continuing them for another 4 years. Voting for McCain would be like voting for Dole in 1996.

You didn't lose; Obama won. I think we have a strong ticket. You've made a wonderful contribution and will continue to be a force to be dealt with. What I want now is dialogue and less debate. We're all Americans and want what is best for our country. Democracy needs an informed electorate. We've had eight years of fear, hate, and misinformation. No winners; no losers! What's best for our nation! (An aside: I think you'd have gone further with "it takes a village to raise a child." That's what I want to hear.)

Time to prepare for your dirtnap Grandpa .

And just think, Richardson is free to serve in the cabinet now. Awesome! Things are falling into place, and for the first time in a very long time it's the right places.

I don't understand how he could over look the fact that she works so hard for his campain and has won the states that count in the election. I have no respect for Obama and I will not vote for him. In fact I may not vote at all!

It is a tit for tat. She will campaign if he gets her debts paid off. It's always about the money. Don't kid yourself.

They basically told them to either charge Charles Keating or leave him alone. That was the extent of his and John Glenn's involvement. Maybe you need to get some history on it.

I've come to the reality that it isn't the VP choice of his, but Obama himself that is the big problem. He is smart, arrogant, and has such a future and in about 12 years should have been ready for the job - the toughest, most important job in the world.

Too bad the "Rock Star" groupies took over the caucuses (fraudulently), Obama had his good friend Donna Brazille do away with Hillary's wins in Michigan and Florida and with all that fixed, he could claim victory. But wait. He isn't even the nominee. He didn't get enough votes nor did Hillary, to win the nomination. So that means the superdelegates will vote next week. Of course, he doesn't want to run the chance of Hillary being a nominee and the superdelegates voting for her.

Afterall, the latest polls show that Hillary would be ahead of McCain by 6 points and would be beating him whereas Obama is just tied. Oh well. McCain will do fine as POTUS.

Why would she give up the power and influence she does have in order to take the most irrelevant position in US politics? As an Obama supporter, I do recognize that she is smart, talented, and capable but I believe that is too divisive. As a Democrat, if she had won, I would have voted for her. Clinton supporters who are not voting for Barack should really question why they support Hillary because it can't be because of policy...Clinton and Obama are very close on policy. I am young, female, and multiracial and I am not voting for a candidate based on those things. I am not against McCain because he is an old, white man... I am not voting for him because of his politics. Barack Obama is aware enough to know that he cannot do it alone. He is smart enough to surround himself by smart, capable people. Biden is an experienced, smart, and outspoken senator. It is not hypocritical to choose someone experienced when your platform is change. People have to willing to fight for change and if Mr. Obama believes that Biden will use his experience and influence to encourage change, then I support it. In order for an Obama adminstration to be successful they will need the help and support of experienced politicianns who are willing to embrace change. OBAMA/BIDEN 08

Don't you know if you don't vote at all, you may as well have voted for McCain? I wish my sisters would grow up, stop stomping their feet, and stop whining. No wonder we don't get the respect we deserve. Hillary lost - it's over.

If change is what is troubling you and holding you from supporting the Obama/Biden ticket, please do your own research during the primary debates, Hillary said things like this about Joe Biden: "do exactly what Joe Biden said"

He barely registered...in each of his presidential bids. Foreign policy is Obama's achilles heel, not Sen Biden's, but it's Obama that's on the top of the ticket, not Sen Biden. There's a whiff of desperation in this selection, as I see it.

And, Edwards is awesome. He's not better known because he's just worked steadily to serve his district(s), in spite of Tom Delay's efforts to get rid of him. Big support within the military because of all he's done. Other than TX, I suspect he's best known among the military having had the largest military base in the world in hsi district until that little mapmaking mess.... And, he still won in an even more Repbulican district.

No skeletons that I've ever really heard of, either. Just a steady guy who has had appeal to even seasoned Reps for a long time due to his tireless work on military and veterans issues.

And, maybe, just maybe, we'd have had a chance to pull in TX. Last time TX went DEM for Pres, it was JFK and LBJ. And, the chance of pulling in TX would be sweet. Of course, Edwards isn't quite as biting as Biden can be, so if they really wanted an "attack dog," Biden is probably better.

Edwards has been in Washington a long time and yet is not the ultimate insider, either.

Ya'll from other states don't know the caliber of man we missed out on. Sigh.

It was just all over the news about him cheating on his wife. If he can cheat on her then he can cheat his country. No thanks.

He didn't borrow RFK speeches in 1988, he stole them. Kids who do that in school get F's. I think Biden's arrogance will open the door to ridicule of an already arrogant ticket. Nice job, Obama. That is unless I was unaware that we were having this debate in high school. There are obviously great issues at stake for the country and dignifying your response with such triviality is less than productive for what is truly important. Plagiarism obviously should not be condoned, but neither should not paying teachers a proper wage, or allowing millions to go uninsured in a leading industrialized country. Can't you look at what's really important and put your own arrogance (and perhaps ignorance or pride) aside?

He didn't use any of RFK's stuff and was not accused of it. He used parts of a speech from British parliamentarian Neal Kinnock. He had used this part of his speech several times prior and had acknowledged Kinnock at those times, but did not in this instance. This is how the far right always attempts to discredit people. The drop half truths and innuendo and if no one calls them on it, it goes into the books as fact.

The Rove republicans must be called out on every falsehood, quickly and loudly. Biden is an excellent choice, and I can't wait to hear him on the attack. He'll make VERY sure no republican lie goes unchallenged.
