She makes no difference. Now that the Clintons have turned the convention into a soap opera, so she can run in 2012, McIdiot may win. Horro

When someone says for the first time she is proud of her country, that means all these years she had hate against the country, that gave her all these opportunities to be where she is right now, just because her husband has a chance to be elect she is proud of it. How can you trust this women? I'm sure in the future more negative things will comeout of her mouth that will show true color of her side.

There have been times when I have not been to proud of this country, that does not mean I hate this country. Proud is not the opposite of hate. How can you judge someone by one 30 second sound byte? I bet you call yourself christian but you sure don't sound like it.

CAN YOU ALL PLEASE GET THE QUOTE BY MRS. OBAMA RIGHT!!?? She said that for the first time in her adult lifetime she is "REALLY" proud of her country. She never said that she was "proud" of her country for the first time---but that she was "really proud." This makes a difference in how you interpret her quote. She was also talking about how proud she was of the political process that was taking place during the primaries and how people were voting in record-breaking numbers! GET IT RIGHT AMERICA and stop bashing this woman for no reason.
THAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH US---Americans---we always are quick to judge and assume without knowing the total truth. Research and find out the truth for yourself! The media is not always right in how they present the message. Oftentimes they deliberately will put a "spin" or "twist" on something, just to give people something to talk about. GET SMART! (And I am not talking about the movie).

          Sincerely,
          A truly angry black woman!

In the 57 years of my life, I have been a military child, a college student in the late 60's and early 70's, a dissenter, a believer in "My Country, right or wrong," a questioner, a college grad with debt, a Voter every year since I was able--and a bunch of other stuff no one really cares about. There have been many times I was not proud of my country, but that doesn't mean I hated it! We strive to make a difference when things don't go as we like. Get your opinions out there. He has done more flip-flops than a fish out of water. This is not the person I want in the White House. Who is demanding? I don't think that anyone but the loyal Hillary supporters and the Republicans are protesting the Clinton support of Barack Obama. I don't think they needed a subpoena to get them to campaign for him or to speak at the convention. I think Hillary understands that although she wished it were her accepting the nomination she has to, as a simple matter of conscience not because someone is telling her to, support the person who mirrors her views and will fight for her causes.

I had to make that same decision in 04 when my pick, Howard Dean, left the race and although I wasn't particularly wowed by John Kerry I knew that John Kerry had far more in common with my causes than George W Bush. Of course I would have preferred to vote for Howard Dean but he was no longer an option and I couldn't not vote so I voted for the best option of the two. It was a pretty easy choice to make.

Ah yes - they "could" do so - ANYONE can run for the office of the president, indeed - including the Obama's - in my opinion WHEN they have a resume of public service accomplishments, most notably a bipartisan working resume of national accomplishment that proves to Americans Barack Obama and his wife can indeed do more for this country - then spend what has been the entirety of their adult lives (except for these past three short years) representing in elected fashion any group of Americans.

To presume that after three short years (one of those years spent away from Illinois campaigning for another elected office) you can somehow run effectively and proficiently the entire nation - well that is presumptive, arrogant, meritless. ....so back to Illinois Barack and Michelle should humbly go. Should spend some time - not just a little more than two years (as is Barack Obama's sum total of public elected service) working with both sides of the national political aisle before he (they) both presume to assume they can offer up Americans - all Americans a experienced, truly proven to be effective national leader.

In a spiffy marriage the spouses always bring out the best in one another. In that case, from the interactions between Michelle and Barack we've seen on TV, Michelle is indispensable. I suspect that the same may be true for Cindy and John McCain. Marriage is a great institution. Made even greater by some states that allow same sex marriages.

I would gladly vote for either Michelle or Barack for President. I had voted Republican all my life starting with Nixon, until 2004. I even voted for Stupid in 2000 (I am ashamed to say) I voted for Kerry in 2004 and I doubt I will ever vote Republican again. I would vote Democratic in 2008 regardless of who the nominee was going to be. Why can't anyone see the terrible shape this country is in. McCain's financial advisor (Phil Gramm) thinks we are all a bunch of whiners because we would like to have a decent job earning a decent wage and be able to have health care. He lobbies for cushy deals for his rich banker friends and thinks all rich people deserve tax breaks so they can invest and create jobs overseas. Earlier this year McCain said that no one is more knowledgeable about the economy than Phil Gramm. What kind of policies do you think McCain will enact? McCain thinks it is a good idea to throw away ten billion dollars a month in Iraq. How about bringing that money home to invest in our schools and rebuild all the bridges and other infra-structure that needs repair. Think that might create a few good paying jobs and help this country's economy?
I wish that all the "people" who despise the Obama's because of the color of their skin and because of their intelligence and accomplishments would at least be honest about it. Stop insulting our intelligence, you morons, with all these lame excuses about his lack of experience and any comments Michelle has ever made. That is not why you will not vote for Barack Obama. You know the real reason you don't want to see Barack and Michelle and their family living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Does being stupid automatically make you gutless and disingenuous also? I am 55 years old and seeing Barack Obama elected President would be the proudest moment of my life and a sea change in the history of this country. How anyone who can watch the tapes of the civil rights marches from the sixties and not get nauseous watching those morons turn the fire hoses and dogs on those people who were marching for the dignity of being able to eat at the same lunch counter, drink out of the same water fountain and ride in the front of the bus, is beyond me. That was not 1760 or 1860. That was the 1960's. Does anyone think that Michelle and all of us should be proud of that wonderful part of our history? I will now answer the question that all the ignorant ones are asking right now. I am Caucasian.

Obama in 08, before it's too late

I have heard that some people will automatically call another person a racist if they do not support Obama or disagree with any of his ideas or policies. RLW, thanks to you, I now believe that statement.

There are legitimate differences of opinion in this country, which I personally believe to be the greatest country in the history of the world. It is O.K. for you to support Obama and even believe the way you do. But I hope that you can understand that many of us share the same disgust you do about how blacks were treated in this country in the past, but we disagree with you that Obama is the best choice to lead our country.

You seem angry. I hope that you can overcome that demon.

now the morons turn to planned parenthood to do their dirty work!

who needs the fire hoses and dogs when men such as Obama and those of like mindedness can kill thousands of black children daily in their secret killing fields of the abortion mills?

we're not talking about the 1760 or 1860, but the year 2008! Does anyone think that Michelle or any of us should be proud of this "wonderful part of our history" (sarcasm and disgust intended)? I too am Caucasian, and from MS.

                                RLW-450024:
You call us, Morons? You have it all wrong. It looks to me that you are not really aware of what it going on. You can not be more wrong. We are Americans. We are not voting for Obama because of his color. It is Obama who uses the race card.
Maybe, you need to know who Obama really is.

                                OBAMA 101

Obama is American because he was born on American soil (US law follows Jus soli) to a white mother. That is what makes him American. Now, he is black because his father was Kenyan, of Kenyan nationality. OK Got the picture, so far? What I am saying is that he does not share the struggles of the Black Americans.

When he was 2 yrs old, his father left to go to Harvard, met another woman there whom he took back to Kenya with him. Meanwhile, he was still married to his original wife in Kenya, referred to by the Obama family as his true love. His father was a drunk and a polygamist. Yet, the Obama supporters did not question this but they were ready to bash Todd Palin fir a DUI charge many many years ago. I am not making any judgment but I am just comparing the mentality of Democrats and Republicans.

Did you see the slime that the media and Obama's attack dogs threw at Palin's family within 24 hrs that she appeared on TV. Are these the kind of people that find respectable?

Obama's past before he appeared in Chicago is blurry. He says his parents were married in Feb 1961 and he was born 6 mos later. Nobody said anything about this but the Obama's camp were too quick to question Palin family's moral values. In his book, "Dreams from My Father" he had written: "...the hostile stares, the whispers, would have driven a woman in my mother's predicament to a back alley abortion." If Obama's mother was less strong, there would be no Barack Obama today. His two memoirs were written as a prelude to his political campaign.

He came to Chicago after his graduation from Columbia University. His grandparents attend, Mr & Mrs Dunham, attended his graduation. After his graduation, he came to Chicago. Why? He had no relatives here, he had no friends. Later, he said he was searching for his roots. Chicago as a large black population, largely democratic. Perfect place to reinvent himself. You said you are going to vote for any democrat, then who is the moron? Since the day he came to Chicago, he already had his eyes on the top. He took the job as community organizer in order to learn the skills of organizing people, which is important when you are running for office. It did not matter whether he accomplished anything or not. As I have said before, as a community organizer, he did not change the neighborhoods nor restore jobs. However, he learned how to get money from the government to finance projects. He changed himself. He met developers who, later, became important in raising funds for his campaign.

I put my country first, before my Party. I am proud to vote for McCain. Too bad, the Democratic busted it again. Until they put the interests of the people in front of their personal ambitions, I do not want to be associated with the Party.

Obama presents himself as the President of the Middle Class? Look at the company he keeps and take a good look at the people who shares center stage with him. The Elite.

Obama wants to reduce taxes? haha! While he is preaching this, his own turf, Chicago's sales tax just made it to the top, the highest in the country at 10.25% He is too busy campaigning, he does not see what is happening in his own backyard.

Listen to him when he talks. Since he was campaigning for the primaries, he would say, "I will do this, I will do that" He never mentioned Congress nor the Senate. I guess he forgot he is running for President, not Dictatorship. Or, maybe, he will abolish both houses. Who knows?

If you really want to choose the man this country deserves, do a little homework. Find out who Obama really is. Find out why he went to Kenya in Aug of 2007, the real reason, not what he tells the people. He is such an excellent tale-spinner and you know, you must also learn to tell lies and exaggerate to tell interesting stories.

I am not voting for a myth that the Elite and the liberal media has created. I am voting for a LEGEND who was willing, and, indeed, risk his life for our country. It took Obama to make me see McCain in a different light. He has not done anything, anything, to make me believe that he can fulfill all his promises. That is all he has, promises and scaring people another 4 years of Bush. Change has come, and it is not Obama who brought it. McCain and Palin did.

Country First before Party! In good times and in bad times.

So because you are a STRONG woman and have the guts to stand up for what you think is right, you are angry? I love that we have strong women that are willing to speak up for what is right and what they believe in. This is what us women love about America. Women can say what they what and what they mean. I want all little girls to grow up to be strong women and if they call them angry, then so be it.

Mrs. Obama is a disgrace. To fist bump her husband shows no respect for him and even less for the American public. This type of behavior may be acceptable on the street but it has NO place in our White House. It is comparable to the disrespect Rosanne Barr showed our country when she butchered the Star Spangled Banner.

I for one thought the fist bump was charming.

You do know that a fist bump is the same thing as a high five right?

So it's disrespectful to high five your husband?

This woman became completely ridiculous right after she delivered the, "first time I'm proud of America" rant. Being in the military it made me disgusted someone like that even gets air time. Obama is an articulate dude, lots of people are, and his cool public speaking is starting to become routine; revealing the idiot that lies beneath.

Nobama08 will be just that. It'll be a landslide and I won't blink twice at the results.

                                          Sincerely,

The bible cannot be used to mandate the definition of marriage as church and state are separate in our great nation. Thank you for your strange attempt to put words in my mouth Robert-451108.

Civil rights are not strictly defined as black rights, although the 'civil rights movement' was one of the most important civil rights movements of our time.

The point of the term 'civil rights' is the concept that every person of every gender, age, race, sexual orientation, disability or other defining characteristic has the right be treated with civility and fairness.

I'm not comparing and segregating groups as I like to think of us as one country.

You say that I don't know my history? Well, fair enough. I luckily don't remember the time when our politicians were able to tell a woman she didn't have a right to choose and if I believed in God I would thank him/her for that.

I think that if you don't believe in separation of church and state, it's apparent that you don't know your current events. Based on what is going on in Massachusetts and California I can see that separation of church and state is alive and well.

WSM-"The bible cannot be used to mandate the definition of marriage as church and state are separate in our great nation."

where do you suppose the founding Fathers of our great Country got their guidance for creating the law that governs this Country, and our constitution from? ................GOD and HIS Holy Word.

EVERYONE is protected under the law..does it always go the way we want it too, or think it should? NO ..EVERYONE has a voice in our electoral process, it's the law..was this always true (?)..NO..but your evasive explanation and attempt at lumping the homosexual movements attempt to redefine the law on marriage in with "Civil Rights" is a disgrace to those who fought for the civil rights movement, they had no voice..their rights were limited.

judges legislating from the bench (making law) is NOT constitutional..if you will remember we have a check and balance system, 3 branches of government and it's not the responsibility of the judicial branch to make law from the bench.

not trying to be mean spirited but these two statements of yours are a good reflection of most Americans..in our fast food society where we want it NOW, more and more we see people making important decisions based on what OTHER people tell them, and on what THEY want to hear and not on THIER OWN thoughts and beliefs..they don't or won't take the time to educate themselves.

current events...judges making law from the bench..why even have elections? lets just let the judges tell us how to live.

EVERYONE is protected under our laws, EVERYONE..are they always fairly administered? we will NEVER see perfection as long as imperfect man oversees government justice..the laws are there, they just need to be enforced in most cases..the homosexual movements attempt to change the definition of marriage is not the same as the civil rights movement no matter how you view it..EVERYONE has the same rights under the laws of our Country..if you are in the camp of those who wish to change the law on marriage, i say thats your right..as it is my right to stand for the law......and it's not the right of a judge to overrule the voice of the people such as the case in Cali.

where do you suppose our founding fathers got their guidance from as they wrote our Constitution and laws? ..............the Bible, Gods Holy Word, was use by them to help define the mandates of the law.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

                                                    separation of church and state?

Don't dismiss me or anyone else when we DEMAND experience from a person running for the highest elected office in our land. And to presume once again we all align ourselves, our futures, our children's futures behind a man who has not even completed one singular term in elected office, has indeed been absent from his duties as an elected member of U.S. Congress for one of those measly three years in order to campaign for THE HIGHEST OFFICE in our land is the essence of arrogange and hubris. I mean it. I apologize to no one for saying so. My demand for true bipartisan working, long standing POLITICAL experience - has nothing whatsoever to do with race. So don't dismiss this all important fact. It speaks to everything in regard to this candidate - that he thinks so little of the office of President of the United States that he would promote himself in the year 2008 as the best candidate for the office. That he can somehow run a country at war - a war he won the dem party nomination professing to "END" by the end of calendar year 2009. What a lie that was! That he somehow can settle and resolve the energy crisis that each and every American faces. That he can somehow resolve the separate ethical conundrum which is our total ECONOMIC crisis - impacting our entire nation. That he can resolve and indeed has solutions to -real solutions - our crisis driven illegal alien mess - post haste and with decisive "experienced" ability to do so. And on and on. And that somehow HE can turn around and also negotitate and be held in high esteem with international leaders - based upon - well who knows what, really.... Come on. His EXPERIENCE - and/or his almost complete lack of it - has EVERYTHING TO DO with NOT casting a vote for Barack Obama in the year 2008.

ALWAYS HAS ARM CANDY. HE IS AN ADULTERER AND HOT HEADED. I SURE DON'T WANT HIS FINGER CLOSE TO THE RED BUTTON.

He was not our only chance at getting this country back on track and for change. He doesn't have the experience to be our savior. We had another choice and blew it! He will get my vote or I will not vote, either way my vote will never go to the Republican, because with all his experience he has no clue. The problem with Obama is his idea's are great, but he doesn't have the experience, the cunning, the know how or the connections to get the job done right now.
