she and her husband Bill need to get over it. Next Hillary needs to start attacking the PUMA groups hard for thier spolied behavior
Short of physically hurting Obama, Senator H Rotten Clinton tried her best at assesinating his character .... She is only being nice cause she has to otherwise her future as a politician is over
Like that of her self-served egomaniac husband !!
They are the pitts and i just hope their stupidity will kill their future chances
American can do without their ugly ways......
Ditto that of her supporters .......who obviously could not give a dam about her or they would have help her retire her debt ; have poor excuses for not behavinig Democratic and do not get it !!!
It is not a wonde Republican party is using her negative comments and debastating comments during the Primaries.... She is probably helping them behind close doors she is not to be trusted ..........Senator Obama is just too good a person !
Learn to spell.
I think what is stupid is that a lot of the Obama supports who post on these blogs fail to even recognize that it was the "Clintons" who made your lives so much better in the 90's than what they are today under the heavy rule of the "Bushs". We cleared our deficits, we had better education and the community as a whole was moving in the right direction. To think that the Obama Team basically supported the idea that Mr. Clinton was a racist after what he did for the African American Community in the 90's is amazing to me. Even more amazing still is that the African Community apparently has no thanks or recollection of how much he pushed for their cause which is outrageous. This should be taken into consideration when coming from someone like me who has always championed equal rights for everyone when talking to both friends and colleague's.
This brings me to my next point which is Obama supports should be aware the more you bash Hillary the more reluctant those of us on the fence become to support Obama. Keep this in mind because it will be people like me who decide the fate of this nomination.
Let's get real here. The Clinton's cannot be trusted. How many "gates" did they have during Bill's presidency? How many lies were told to the American public ? It was confirmed that Hillary did not want the no 2 spot on the ticket because of how deep Obama's lawyers would have to dig into Bills Presidential Library fund, and the questionable sources of revenue. The Clinton's show you what they want you to see and hope you do not look for more. They have always been extremely self serving. Do yourself a favor and research their ties to the Bushes and to the money cartel of the US banking system. There is alot to find if you really look. Let's not do the wishful thinking routine with Hillary. We might wish that she was a honest, and up standing politician but that would be delusional thinking. The truth is out there if you really care to look. Don't believe their smoke and mirrors trick, they meaning Billary are not in politics for the American people. They are in it for the power and control to fulfill their self serving interests. DO THE RESEARCH, THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE.
Yes, it is true that the American people were better off during the Clinton era than they are today. However, it is NOT appropriate to attribute this sucess to BOTH of the Clintons. The sad reality is that Hillary had no more role in that success than a winning NFL coach's wife does sitting in the grandstand. The Clinton economic victories were the result of having assembled a first rate team and there is no reason to believe that Barack Obama will not be able to replicate this phenomena.
Bill Clinton earned his criticisms about showing racism by his actions. I was on the front lines in SC and saw the disappointing actions for myself. Also, Hillary Clinton did herself a major disservice in her 60 Mintues interview when she told Steve Kroft that Barack Obama was not a muslim -- "as far as she knew." This was an racist remark and she knew it!
People who supported Hillary Clinton would be voting against their own best interests to waste their vote in November for anyone other than Barack Obama. He is the nation's only means of repairing the damage done by the immoral Bush regime.
Joe, the more Hillary supporters cry like babies and waste their vote on McCain or Clinton as a write-in candidate, the more she will hurt her chances at any future election. Democrats should stand behind Obama as the nominee, let him run the country with Joe. Now if he doesn't do the job, then Hillary will have a shot in 2012. If Obama does the job, which he can't do no worse than the Republicans have, then America will be better off. What the Clintons did in the 90's have nothing to do with what will happen in the next decade. Each generation offers a unique perspective and it time for new leaders.
I agree with Joe on a lot of points. But I think you have to understand that many black people now feel that Hillary and Bill may be the one to prevent the first black man from becoming president. I would bet they don't feel that Hillary's support of Obama is anywhere near genuous (like many people), and untill she comes across that way, many of them won't have positive feelings to the clintons.
I agree with you in your last paragraph though - obama supporters aren't helping anything by being so negative. I am an obama supporter, and i do not understand the extreme hate for the other side - I am not the biggest fan of clinton right now, but that doesn't mean i will act in such a childish way to her supporters.
Joe, On one hand, I agree with you about everything that Bill did during his time as President, however on the other hand this primary season was about Hillary and what she did and/or didn't do. This was a very hard primary season and a lot of African Americans felt that some of Bill Clinton's remarks while he campaigned were a slap in the face. People also felt that the way Hillary threw the "kitchen sink" at Barack was over the top. (And this is coming from a Hillary supporter that went to Obama) This whole electoral season should be about more than smearing our opponents (whether Republican or Democrat) We as people, no matter what, need to come together. The last 8 years have divided and diminished us not only within our parties but as a whole Nation. we need to get over a lot of our personal feelings and look at the whole picture.
Civility is the rule for this country. Nasty and mean are for republicans. Get over it. Do we really want more Clarence Thomas's on the Supreme Court? Don't you think Mitt Romney and the others sad things about McCain that weren't flattering. By the way maybe this blog and some of the things being said against the Clintons are fodder for the McCain campaign. Does anyone remember Bush and Cheney:
Let's face reality for a moment. They are all politicians so no matter what they all lie, cheat and steal. No one is better than the other, period. That being said, the only thing you count on is YOUR OWN experience. How have the last 8 years been, compared the 8 previous? Forget moral issues, they always go down no matter who's in office but how has your quality of life been? I thought Bush was a likable person, a businessman who would continue what Clinton had started with the great economy - WRONG!
Not that I think Carey would have done better but the last 8 years have been horrible - not that's it's all Bush's fault but it's on his watch. Although Republicans seem brainwashed even they know it's been a failure, no Republican should win an election for Dog Catcher let alone President after these 8 years.
For Dems, having the Clintons back, although the economy rocked - they're a bundle of frustration to listen to and be represented by.
Obama seems competent and likable and other leaders like him which is a big plus because at some point we all (the world) will have to get along. If he wins his new job will be a lousy one anyway fixing what's been broken for 8 years but he seems to be able to do it.
I'm not campaigning for any ONE candidate but for goodness sake people quit letting other people tell you what to do and look at how you are living and decide for yourself who can help you improve your quality of life. Your ultimate decisions will make some people rich, some even richer and some able to get off the floor - look at the past 16 years (or 20) and tell me who's got the best track record.
I am an African American male raised in Philadelphia housing projects, and today I am a corporate executive. I will vote for Obama, but my first preference was, and still is Hillary Clinton. The two factual questions I have for you are, What has Barrack Obama accomplished for African American and other inner city communities, and What specifically has Hillary Clinton done to deserve the divisive label and other names you and others are calling her?
One of the main goals of the civil rights movement was to achieve equity and fairness regardless of race. I listened to both candidate's responses and determined Hillary Clinton's were more comprehensive than Barrack Obama's. The main problem we have is a news
media that is subjective, sensationalist, and arrogant. Unforntunately, we believe anything they say. If they had raised appropriate questions about George Bush in 2000, the way they always attacked the Clintons, maybe we would not be at war, and four thousand plus of our soldiers would be here to enjoy hopefully an Obama presidency.
Americans need to wake up. While we are bashing some of our brightest and most accomplished (Bill Clinton has the highest IQ of any U.S. President to date.) China, India, and Russia are positioning themselves as new world powers. If Obama is to be a great president or just a great public servant, let him do so. Don't bring down others who have done much for the country. Remember, Bill Clinton balanced the budget and left a projected surplus. Hillary Clinton always fought for children's welfare and healthcare. They had the credentials to do other things, but chose public service.
P.S. If you want to bring up Bill Clinton's troubles with infidelity, make sure you include Congressman Vitter, John Edwards, John F. Kennedy and many more you don't know of to the list. Or at least give them credit for saving their marriage.
On another point is anyone getting as disgusted with the Kennedys as I am? I worked for RFK's campaign. My mother was a private duty nurse for JFK Jr while his father was campaigning for the Presidency. We attended Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown with them. The third pew on the right center still bears a plaque reserving their seats. The front of the church had a plaque dedicated to JFK and the PT-109. I know the Kennedys.
I find it despicable that anyone, least of all a Kennedy, would try to compare obama to either JFK or RFK. JFK was a war hero- not obama. JFK served in the Senate on the Racketeering committee that investigated organized crime- not obama. RFK joined the Navy while still underage- not obama. RFK worked for the Senate committee on which JFK served- not obama. JFK and RFK(as Attorney General of the US) ensured our domestic welfare while standing up to Kruschev and making the Soviet Union back down from the brink of complete nuclear war-NOT obama. JFK's policies carried out under LBJ gave more to minorities than anything obama has ever done or is likely to do in 10 lifetimes.
RFK went into what could have been a terrible and life threatening situation in Indianapolis, in April, in 1968. And he with his words and compassion stilled the anger, the hatred and the natural instict to want to strike out of thousands of blacks to whom he announced that MLK Jr had been assassinated- not obama, I'd like to see him walk into a predominantly white neighborhood seething with anger over heinous acts committed by a black man and with his words and compassion bring calmness to the situation, but we would know the hypocrisy after 20 years or Rev Wrong wouldn't we.
And thats another thing sticks in my craw, the utter call to compare him to the Kennedys brothers is bad enough but to mention this charlatan in the same breath as MLK Jr is in some ways even worse.
Lets look at the record- but no we don't have to- the truth is apparent in his treatment and his supporters treatment of people like John Lewis and Stephanie Tubbs-Jones (God rest her- theres a woman I would have voted for POTUS). The rallying call of Clyburne "you gotta vote for the brother" while denigrating a man like John Lewis who stood with MLK facing beatings and threats of death so that lesser men like obama and his crew can stand up. The racist CBC who took Jones-Tubbs and Lewis to task for the utter audacity of being black and supporting a white woman. I have no use for racists and obama hangs with too many of them. MLK had to be turning over in his grave at the playing of the race card by obama, his campaign and the racist Congressional Black Caucus. They are disgusting.
Give me a human being like Stephanie Tubbs Jones any day- you can keep obama and his cronies.
This life long moderate DEM will never support a socialist President in cohort with an extreme liberal Pelosi lead Congress. I will vote McCain to balance the two out. Congress may or may not be able to override his veto power so that will help hold in their excesses. McCain would not be able to get what he wants through a Democrat controlled Congress....so both sides would have to work together from the middle which is in the end the best thing for uur country right now. We can not have One party in control unless it comes from the middle not from the far left or the far right. Wake up America!!
I would never vote for obama who has proven himself NOT to be a typical politician....this con man is much much worse.
noprahbama08- WOW.....beautifully stated. You have made an enormous point that everyone should hear!! Well said- Thank you!!
Wake up people, and listen!!
You ARE NOT a good representative of an Obama supporter. He is not bitter like you, he is not petty like you, nor is he naive like you. Obama is a brilliant man who deserves to be President, and Hillary is a brilliant woman who deserves to be president. Right now it's Obama's time, his message of change resonated more right now than that of Hillary's. Unfortunately people like you do everything you can to undermine Obama's objectives, you attempt at every remark to be vapid and hateful. You are not alone in the blogsphere of people who so misrepresent Obama's message. In fact I think that perhaps you and several other frequent blog responders are actually Republican "moles", who are simply trying to drive a wedge between Obama and Hillary supporters. It's pathetic and laughable all at once. I for one will not be affected by it. I have been a staunch supporter of Hillary, but as most smart Democrats have done, I've put my full support behind Obama. I'm already close to maxing out my contributions to his campaign. So instead of being so negative, why not truly help Obama by spreading his message of change instead of hate. Maybe try not to be so disrespectful of people like me who have respectfully supported our parties leadership choice. We've had enough of the haters the last 8 years, we're better than that.
At least I am.
The only thing that is hurting Obama is his supporters who have to bash Hillary and try to make all this her fault. The more that you do this the more you make her supporters turn to the Republicans. I just don't get it. You are all out of your minds. Where do you think this blame game will get you. Maybe you are trying to hurt him yourself, even though he has done enough of that to himself. I know nothing about this man except the way that his supporters talk, and that turns my blood cold.
Please, you don't know the real Clinton's you are just going for HRC because she is a woman - this does not make a good leader.
Reading a few of these comments, there is a strange reality. The people who seem to hate the Clintons also seem to hate the English language and its spelling. Learn to spell people and then READ, read everything you can get your uneducated hands on and watch only C-Span if you really want to know the truth of our elected officials. No talking heads, and no talking radio heads, they only muddle and confuse the facts. If you were an adult in the 90's, most people had it pretty good. We were at peace, the stock market was growing at an even pace, Bill passed legislation to get 100,000 more police officers on the streets, i.e. crime declined. Anyone remember "Americore", volunteer to pay for college, that was his idea. Get with a concept called reality folks! All parents have the Clintons to thank for saving their jobs when they need to stay home after the birth or adoption of a child, or for an ailing parent. Remember the "Family Leave Medical Act". Interest rates were low and fuel was cheap compared to other markets in the world. I don't really know about Michelle's true feelings about her country, but there have been many times in my life that I have been proud of being an American. Bosnia, Pres. Carter getting medicine to the African continent to stop a horrific and easily treatable disease. This country is the first to respond with whatever is needed when catastrophy strikes anywhere in the world. Many people understand this concept, would that more of our elected officials could. Get involved and quit whinning people. You're responsible for what information gets to your brain!!!!
Wow prejudice at its full form right here. You know your comments are so ridiculous it is not even worth me writing no more then I am now and even this is to much. You must be used to the back of the bus since you know so much about it.
Fortunately the majority of the country is looking at our presidential candidate as a human being regardless of the size of his ears!! As far as running a donut stand umm hello the idea you put forth is that you yourself could find that challenging and that is ok because our country is made up of many "donut stand " type people. Have you even eaten at one? I bet the hard working American preparing those donuts has no idea how self righteous you are but still serves you with a smile. Do you have any idea how ignorant you sound? Or maybe you just didn't read what you wrote. As far as Michelle Obama...WOW Do you know anything about the intelligence of an ant and the strength they have to support and defend the colony the call home? Hmm The sitting in the back of the bus comment is so far the most ridiculous statement I have heard. Oh and the one thing you said gave me a great idea...A $3 bill!! What a great suggestion with Barrack Obama on the front of it. In God and Obama we trust. Freedom of speech is a great thing just don't use it to promote stupidity.
Could the posability be that she really wants to unite the people.?. let us please look beyond the the conspiracy theories.
Try the spell-check. It might make you look a little more intelligent. Although with your comments I don't think it will make much of a difference. Stop being a hater.
Great job! Keep it up. That attitude with others as divisive will surely cost Democrats the election. If anyone can help elect John McCain, it is YOU and people like YOU!!
You are not very intelligent. Take a spelling class, too. I'm sorry your education system failed you. Your comments only bring disgrace and shame to the Obama campaign and Democrats as a whole.
Get a life and go back to grammar class. Perhaps you should take an anger management class too.
Noprah, you're absolutely right!!
I agree that Obama didn't do many of the things that JFK did as president, senator, and youth... but neither did McCain, save wear the uniform... "HE WAS A POW!!", there I got that talking point out of the way for you. Sure no one has thought to compare McCain to the Kennedy's because that's where you've missed the idea.
McCain isn't comparable to the Kennedy's because he isn't inspiring nor motivational, where Obama is. Obama easily draws large crowds, is adored worldwide, inspires youth, inspires people to want to get on the move to do something for their lives, for the lives of future generations, and for their country. That is the legacy of the Kennedy brothers. The other stuff you mentioned is great, but when you think of John and Robert and Ted you think of public servants, people who cared about those less fortunate, and had a vision. That is Barack Obama in modern day politics.
I haven't heard the comparisons of Obama to MLK. I've heard the comparisons of MLK's dream about where the country should be, to where we are very close to being today as seen partially through the nomination of Obama. Barack Obama has (expelling obvious variables, like PUMA's) a 50% chance at becoming president, where at the time he was born, black people like MLK and Lewis had no percentage of a chance at even using the same bathroom as a white person.
I must admit...I still have a bad taste in my mouth with her finally proud to be an American statement. If having your husband run for president is the only things that makes you proud....you're not really a true American at all.
She explained to you who harp on this issue constantly that she was talking about this country's political process, not our country itself.
People don't always use the best words to say what they are feeling. If it is misunderstood, they should be allowed to clarify it.
I wonder if anything you've said has ever been misunderstood or needed clarification?
Thank you Michael, very well said. I would love to know the same thing, but I think we both know the answer to that. ALL of us have said things that didn't come out quite the way we intended.
seriously CJ,
Are you that effing perfect that you've never said anything and had your words twisted? If you want to say you can't relate to the Obamas because they don't look like you, or they speak well, or they're better educated, or they have more money than you, by all means go right ahead. But stop beating a dead horse!
The media and people like you are the ones who have made this mole hill into the freaking Rockies.
I agree as McCain has said things that have been run through the ringer as well. It's called being human. Our political process has been turned into a media driven *presidential American Idol*. It is sad that someone like Mr. Biden with all his experience in national security, finical committee work and the brains to know how Congress really works was left in the dust of the *PRETTY CANDIDATE*. And so was it really a gaffe when Mr. Obama said the *the next President* when introducing Mr. Biden as the VP? Wasn't it Mr. Biden who said *The Presidency doesn't lend itself to on the job training*? These adds are NOT ATTACK ads from McCain, they are re-runs of true feelings and convictions of TOP political figures. TO suggest they "didn't really mean what they said* is to call them a liar. The only questions left is, were you lying to me then or are you lying to me now"?
We all go through times when we are not proud of the things our country does. Torture,15% of our people living in poverty, 47 million people not insured for health purposes, starting a war in Iraq based on lies and too many people not caring that this is just wrong. How can we spend so much time on a statement such as the one this blog is concerned about. With all of the above going on I can say that I am proud of my country because Senator Obama wants to talk about these issues and make this country a better place. So CJ I too am proud because he is running for president.
Someone who knows Michelle Obama said of her:
"Public service was always her interest, and Barack's. But as she began to see her husband having an impact as an elected official, she softened some."
She had small faith in the political process, as many of us have of late. How American!
CJ, I think that exact quote was: "For the first time I am REALLY PROUD to be an American" It kills me how people conveniently leave words out to suit their purposes. Saying that you are finally proud is saying that you were never proud from the start. Saying that you are for the first time you are really proud indicates that you were proud but now you are even prouder. It is important to listen to everything a person says and not rely on other interpretations.
Just thought I would make that point.
Some people will harp on one particular subject because they have nothing else to complain about. It is sad that you seem to be one of those people. Michelle Obama is no different than the rest of us. To be honest I agree with her. Just lately the American people have once again realized that they really can have a voice and make a difference. For too many decades we have felt beaten down and not heard. Now because of her husband Senator Obama we do have new hope, we feel proud once again because we are standing tall taking the political process into our own hands to right the wrongs and make a difference for our children. More people are involved in this process today than ever has been in American history, we are standing shoulder to shoulder to give this country the leadership it deserves chosen by the people. We will not be denied this time, we will not allow the Old Washington Political Machine to steal what is ours and place their hired mouth piece in the oval office. We cannot allow them to keep us down for their corrupt self serving interests. Not this time. Michelle was right, I am proud of all the people involved in the process trying to make America what America once was and has the opportunity to be again. Instead of complaining I invite you to stand with us, feel the pride and support real leaders. Obama- Biden 08
I have to agree with CJ. I will not let Mrs. Obama's comments dictate how I vote, but it does leave a bad taste. Everyone can clean up her statement, re-inturpet her statement, re-word her statement, but I heard what I heard when she made her statement. I know what she meant. People who say things like that should remember the great country they live in that gives them freedom to make such statements in the first place. In many other countries, she would not have even been able to voice her opinion due to the fact she is female. She should be proud she is American, period!
I also have the same thought. And don't try to tell me that we all say things that are taken out of context!! If your husband is running for President of the United States I'm guessing you've already been instructed to pay close attention to what you say!
It didn't look like she had any problem speaking at the convention last night. Now she loves this country!! And all of a sudden everything is spoken correctly.
Put it this way: After watching Bush/Rove operate for the last few years, I have been disgusted and embarrassed to be an American. I flinch when I think of what the world thinks of us. Do you not recall the British newspaper on 11-05-04, that showed a picture of Bush with the caption, "How can 53 million people be so stupid?"
For awhile, I was reticent about declaring myself to be a Progressive. I did not enter into too many political discussions.
Since 2006 and now, with Obama and Biden and Clinton and others who care and are fighting for our country, I can be proud again. I wear a blue bracelet to let everyone know what I am. I have a blue bumper sticker, that says, "We Are Everywhere!"
We can take back our country from the smallness, the pettiness, the meanness of Neocon politics.
So, yes, I understand exactly what Michelle meant.
I'm happy and often relieved to be an American.
How proud I am to be an American depends on my country's overall behavior, like being proud of any other institution.
When America behaves well and upholds the principles of Contitution, I am proud.
When America behaves badly and tramples the principles of the Constitution, I am disappointed.
I stand with my country, right or wrong, but I don't hesitate to point out when and where I feel it is wrong, and strive to make it right through word or deed.
Michelle was scripted last night...All those warm and fuzzy comments were fed to her, that was NOT the real Michelle Obama....
Nice try
McCain/Romney 08
OK, this is the problem I have with what Mrs. Obama said, "...the first time I am really proud..."
My question is this: Have any of you ever been proud to be American before? If not, you're anti-american. If so, you should also have a problem with Mrs. Obama's statement. You should not strive to defend or justify it. Just admit it was a stupid thing for her to say and I can accept that. We've all said something stupid, but the problem worsens and leaves a "bad taste" when we try to justify what we said instead of just admitting we said something stupid and sincerely apologize for it.
That said, I still agree with CJ.
It has been a long time since I have been proud of my country. With only a few exceptions, the last 8 years have been an embarrassment. 51% of the country voted for Bush. Proud of that?
Many people in the United States get disgusted and feel unappreciated but are glad to be in America. Often times people from other countries are treated with more dignity and respect than we are here in the US. Believe it or not we all have an opinion!
If that's all you have on her, then I guess she's doing pretty good. Is this how America views things now? Okay, let's weigh this objectively.
Person 1 is an heiress who helped her now husband commit adultery on his then wife and this same rich person stole prescription pills from a charity she is in charge of, oh, and she stole them because she was addicted to them.
Person 2 is someone who said "for the first time in my adult lifetime, I'm really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud. And I feel privileged to be a part of even witnessing this"
You're right, Person 2 is soooo much worse. Point Taken.
BTW did anybody catch that Fox News/hannity interview with McCain where he said "I didn't really love America until I was deprived of her company."? Cool interview. He meant deprived as in when he was captured, I think he was about 31 years old at that time... Hmm, that's adulthood right?
Oh and he said virtually the same thing word for word upon launching his 2000 presidential campaign:
"I was born into America's service, it wasn't until I was deprived of her company that I fell in love with America.
And again in December of 1999 he said:
"I was not in love with America until I was deprived of her company"
The Clintons have gotten over it. It is the Obama supporters who need to grow-up and stop crying every-time there is criticism of his Holiness Obama..
We'll have to wait and see not only what she says and does but how she says and does it. That is, not only today, but in the coming weeks and months that precede the election. Make no mistake about it, she recieved more votes and isn't happy that she isn't on the ticket.
For her and the Democratic party as a whole, turnabout was fair play. Remember back to the 2000 Presidential election, in which Al Gore received the majority of the popular vote but lost out in the number of delegates required to win the Presidency. Now more than ever, she feels Al Gore's pain. Had people back during the primaries known about Barack what they do now, more than likely, Hillary would have won in both the overall vote and delegate count. However, things didn't play out as she had (or anyone else had) planned. If Barack wins the Presidency, she won't be able to run for at least 4 (and more than likely) 8 more years. If Barack fails and loses to McCain, she'll be the Democrats #1 candidate and can say, "You blew it by not picking me last time, I could have beaten John McCain. Pick me now and I'll get the job done."
Then again, she's a winner either way, if Obama loses, she can run sooner. If she makes a nice deal with Barack and at least for appearances sake, looks as if she's supporting him, she could get a prestigious position within his possible administration. The remaining months of the election are certain to be interesting for sure.
You speak my mind
I would have preferred Hillary. I think she is smarter then the two men on the ticket, more experienced then Obama and has better ideas then he does. I think Obama would have been a great V.P. and then president. We could of had 16 years of good government. Saying that I'm still a democrat and will vote the ticket. Hillary will give a good speech tonight because she is a democrat also. Then it is up to Obama to close the deal with her supporters. He has to tell them or do something to make them want to vote for him. We don't vote for someone just because we are told to in this country. So far it's been mostly lip service by Obama. Will she get a prestigious cabinet post or will their ideas and support for an intelligent savvy women be ignored in his administration? Does he value her supporters thoughts, hard work and beliefs or are only his own ideas important to him? Why wasn't she V.P.? Does Obama resent Hillary? She was the most qualified to be V.P or president. What is this about Biden's lobby loving son Hunter that is being sued? It amazes me how these politicians are so quick to be just like us but make sure their son (Hunter) gets a 1.2 million dollar job this year to not have to be a lobbyist so he could distance himself from his lobbing job for his father's presidential campaign. He may know how to maneuver congress, but Joe Biden dances way to close to the line way too often in his dealings for me to be comfortable with his ethics. So will Hillary's supporters vote for Obama? She'll do all that she can because she is one classy lady, but in the end it's really up to him.
Until I'm shown otherwise I believe Obama, his wife, & primary supporters represent Truth, and a better American way.
I can prove you otherwise, and leave no doubt. Go to JohnMccain.com and watch his videos. There's a bunch on there, but there are a dozen interviews where he "quote" makes "promises" and then next sound bite denies ever saying it, and then comes right back and says hes nothing if his words cant be trusted. Best 1 is where he says hes going to pull all troops out then says he is going leave a little detail to guard embassy, and another to counter terrorist, and next day denies ever saying it, reporter read him his exact words, and video shows his interview the day before, remind you, and it is word for word what the reporter says, and he starts stuttering and still denying he ever said that. Worst part, his face told the truth, he knew he was caught in another bald face lie. I swear, its about 8 minutes long, and its a non-stop highlight reel, of bald-face lies. Its humanly impossible to vote for him after watching these. All Obama can say is Bush this and Bush that, and I am sorry, McCain is better than Bush ever was, and Bush I will say had more bad thing happen in his presidency then any other president, Katrina, 911,Irag, which by the way, Clinton almost went in to take Saddam's out, but did strike instead, but was deeply debated. And keep in mind, Dem. controlled house and senate, with no line item veto. I ask people this, was it better to error in Irag and take Saddam out thinking he had weapons but didn't, or not knowing for sure and him have them, if not then, year or two down the road. Worst case next president doesn't have to deal with Saddam like George Senior, Clinton for 8 years, and Lil George for 8 years. This went on for 14 or 15 years, and Lil bush ended his regime in a couple months. Please watch videos, and then e-mail me, and if you find something, bring it to my attention please.
My name is Michael, and I support this message. ha-ha Political humor Thanks
Please do not use Katrina as something that McCain would have done differently because Bush was at his birthday party during the Katrina tragedy. If he felt strongly about the individuals in Katrina, they would not have been celebrating at that time. McCain is all over the Georgia incident but did nothing about the tragedy here at home. Why is Cindy McCain going to Georgia? What is up with that? I am really curious of what experience does McCain really have since everyone always says that Obama is not experienced. What has McCain governed? All his years in the Senate, he is the main one who misses casting his votes. I know McCain is a war hero and everyone respects his service, but that does not mean he has all of the answers to run this country. There are currently alot of war heros today especially those who have and are still fighting in Iraq and Afganistan. I think Obama should call McCain on all of this experience that he says he has and can fix everything. All those years in the Senate does not mean you are so experienced. Also, he wants to continue to occupy a country where we are not wanted. If someone tells you they want you to leave their house, you leave not force yourself to stay.
Hillary is really trying but Bill is not making things better for her or him. I think that he is the main reason why Hillary was not considered for VP. I really will be glad when all of this Clinton domination is over.
Sorry, Mike, but I checked out your videos and they are either carefully editted to omit part of what Obama was saying or are comparing apples and oranges. If you didn't follow this step by step, I can see how you could buy the McCain clips. I can also see why, if you don't know the history of Saddam Hussein and how he came to power and how he got the weapons he had, you might feel badly for Poppa Bush having to deal with him. I would suggest you check out some history books, instead of basing your knowledge of what happened in Iraq on what McCain and Bush have said.
McCain may be better than Bush; he may not be. Even if he is, it's like comparing a dog's bite to the bite of a snake. If I have to choose, I'd rather have the dog bite me, but then I'd really rather not be bitten at all.
What I do know is that, if you like war, you'll love McCain....
Back in 2000, during a GOP debate, McCain was asked by Larry King, "What area of American international policy would you change immediately as president?"
McCain's reply? "I'd institute a policy that I call 'rogue state rollback.' I would arm, train, equip, both from without and from within, forces that would eventually overthrow the governments and install free and democratically-elected governments.
McCain to win by a landslide. Just watch.
Once the republicans get through with Obama via "swift-boating" techniques, the democratic party may never win another presidency.
If the dems are smart, they will show planes crashing and the USS Forestal fire, started by Mc/Cain in 1967 when he dropped ordinance on a flaming deck, killing 169 sailors, burning 400. THAT would be captioned, "Is this the kind of pilot you want leading our troops?"
It is too bad the Republicans have to resort to swift-boating to win elections and it is really sad many Americans fall for this process. Instead of trying to discredit the other candidate, how about telling us what you will do for us. Not sure if McCain can will with his plans alone so he must resort to the Karl Rove school of campaigns. How sad for America
And won't you and your lot be sorry. Thank the Lord my son is too old to be drafted and my daughter is beyond childbearing years.
Yes, it is indeed possible that the 2008 will have a landslide result. It is highly probable that it will be an exact replica of the last time that the Republicans nominated an out-of-touch Senator from Arizona. John McCain is only to achieve the same fate as Barry Goldwater and only carry his home state. This country simply will not tolerate yet another bellicose man who has no concept of economics.
If the Republicans are foolish enough to try to use the swiftboating techniques again, then they will turn the American people off even more than they already are by their failure to be willing to compete on the merits of their issues.
REally? The pendulum always swings back and forth; not in just one direction. Be aware of that.
"McCain to win by a landslide"? LOLOLOL and then you wake up, Greg-281912.
It's pathetic that the Republicans only know how to "swift boat" to win. What a sorry bunch of Limbaugh-loving Bush-groveling mindless robots.
I am so over Hillary Clinton. She was a poor sport during the primary. She was never right for our country, her husbands business dealings are questionable and even she still can't admit that voting for that bad war was a bad decision. She seems out only for herself and for the people so blinded by her that they are choosing to vote for McCain, I feel sorry for them. Like I said... I am over her. Someday a woman will be president, but it needs to be the right woman, not just any person. That is tantamount to voting for Bush again, I mean McCain.
Unfortunately, even if you don't like Hillary's Yes War vote... it mirror's that of Obama's VP selection Bidden and the position of 9 out of every 10 democrats in Washington.
Although I disagree with the yes vote, Biden has at least admitted he was wrong. That was my point. We are all wrong from day to day, admitting when you are makes you a better person and more apt to think about future decisions with more clarity and hopefully using better judgement.
I consider myself part of the democratic base---how can we trust Obama as a leader when he already ignore 18 million people----Obama maybe laughing right now but in November we'll have the last laugh and it won't be pretty.
Carlos Lopez

Realitycheck: There is no evidence to suggest that Barack Obama is or intends to ignore the 18 million people who voted for Hillary Clinton despite the fact that she showed poor leadership in the management of her own campaign. All of the issues of concern to Clinton voters are going to be a part of the Democratic party platform that comes out of the Democratic convention. Additionally, Barack Obama's selection of Joe Biden as the VEEP shows that he is willing to have at his side someone who has supported women's issues throughout his multiple decades in the U. S. Senate.
Anyone who can laugh if Barack Obama loses the 2008 election is someone who wants nothing more than a third term of the Bush regime. This nation simply cannot afford to not have Barack Obama take the oath as President in January 2009 because it is our only means of regaining the respect of the world community.
What a dumb reason to vote for McCain...just because you feel "ignored". That's really pitiful! Do you really think McCain will pay attention to your particular needs?
Let's think about this. Are you really going to go vote for a guy who voted with George W. Bush 95% of the time in 2007? As a "part of the democratic base" is that the guy you think you can better identify with than Barack Obama? You can't be serious. If you are such a Hillary supporter why don't you listen to what she says tonight. Make up your mind after her speech. I am pretty sure she doesn't want you to vote for McCain.
Look, I don't have anything against Hillary and I might have voted for her if Obama hadn't been running. I like Bill and Hillary. The thing is though, she lost. According to the way the Democratic Primaries are conducted she lost. Plain and simple. You can argue whatever angle you want, but he got the delegates and he gets to choose his running mate. If you and her 18 million other supporters want to go out and vote for a Republican in order to spite Barack Obama, you'll deserve the President you get. If that is the way you chose to "honor" her then go ahead. John McCain does not care about you, he just wants your vote. As soon as you give it to him he is going to overturn Roe vs. Wade, reinstate the draft and start a war with either Iran or Russia, maybe both. The guy is a loose cannon and we can't afford 4 more years of Bush/McCain.
If you support a woman's right to chose or want to see universal health care, voting for McCain is the wrong answer. If you want to do something to about global climate change and want to move from oil to something smarter, McCain is NOT your guy! If you want someone that can repair our standing in the international community then McCain is a bad vote. If you want a man in The White House that cares about your issues and will work for you and your family then you need to vote for Barack Obama.
Just as a side note to the others leaving comments here, if you look just below the comment box you will see a little button that says "Check Spelling." It isn't just a little reminder to scan through your post with your eyes. It is a button you can click with your mouse arrow. Once clicked it tells you where your spelling errors are so that you can fix them before hitting the "Post Comment" button. I just wish there was a "Check Logic" button people could click before posting their remarks so they don't make fools of themselves.
When will you people get it thru you head...He did not IGNORE 18 million people. SHE LOST...IT WAS HER OWN FAULR...SHE HAD EVERY ADVANTAGE...and by the way MILLIONS voted for Barack Obama also...should they be ignored??? Your argument would hold more water if you dealt with the reality that SHE BLEW IT. She had EVERY ADVANTAGE!!!
I bet by the election John McCain will have 18 million ... DOLLARS in donations from big oil. He picked up 1.1 million from them in June alone with an "energy policy" that emphasizes tax breaks and other handouts for oil and coal. You're worried about Obama "ignoring" Hillary supporters? I'm worried about a McCain who ignores the interests of people while he sells out to big business.
While Obama "ignores" 18 million Hillary supporters, ... by having nearly identical policy platforms ... McCain will be busy ignoring gains in women's rights back to the 1950's.
Enjoy your "last laugh".
I think people who actually think the Republicans are going to get back into the whitehouse after they screwed up the country so badly are freakin insane, lol!
-Anything But a Republican '08 (unless it's Ron Paul of course)
Yes, most of the Republicans I know agree it is time for a change. McCain is too much like Bush. He messed things up enough.
We need someone who is willing to take the steps needed to make a change. Hillary is too old school. We actually NEED someone who is less experienced. Someone who knows what it is like to live like the rest of the country - without money and several multi-million dollar homes.
You are so right. I agree we need someone who is not beholden to anyone and can start fresh. Our country needs a fresh start with someone who understands our plight. I believe Barack does. Anyone who saw his interaction with Michelle and the children last night which was NOT scripted sees our own families and children, I know I did and it warmed my heart to think that we might actually have a President and first family that was like me and my friends and family.
I can't imagine making 4.2 million dollars a year. You and the Obama's are the true story of the American Dream, guess you got your education at Harvard too?
Come on people - take some time to find out the truth instead of letting these people spoon feed you their crap.
Obama and his wife made 4.2 million dollars for ONE YEAR, not "a year". If I became popular enough that I could make $4 million on a book deal, I'd jump on the opportunity too. Obama worked hard in school to get to where he is today, usually at the top of his class. In the meantime, McCain rung out the bottom of the military academy his Admiral daddy got him into; and I won't even get into where McCain got his millions from (but when you "find out the truth", it ain't pretty).
Hillary Clinton supporters are really existing in limbo at this very moment. They are less apt to support another Republican presidential candidate. We want change not further torment: an end to the wars in the Middle East, a stronger economy, better gas prices, and a more promising future for this country. McCain is not ready to handle the situation. He is already in his twilight years and should consider bouncing his grandchildren upon his knees. We need youth, ambition, and energy. I do not necessarily believe Barack Obama is the better candidate. I think Hillary would have made a much better president. However, Obama is the only end result at this latter stage of the presidential race. Do not support another Republican presidential nominee. We do not need another four to eight years of more Bushism. He has already destroyed our sense of pride and greatly lowered our national self-esteem.
Hillary voter for McCain ~ NOBAMA~
Guilt by association or a verdict on judgment?posted at 11:35 am on April 18, 2008 by Ed Morrissey (read on HOTAIR.COM)
He presents as the transcendent agent of "change." Sounds platitudinous, but it's really quite strategically vaporous. Sen. Obama is loath to get into the details of how we should change, and, as the media's Chosen One, he hasn't had to.
The details you seek are on his website, take a gander. On the issues, it's hard to tell O and Hill apart.
Obama & his wife seem to represent basic American democratic values and seem to be proponents of Truth.
Hillary, you lost. Please say encouraging words about Obama, and get out of the way. Why do we have to stroke your and Bill's ego? Personally, I'm ready for you and Bill to fade into the history books. Gore would have been President if it had not been for you and Bill. Get lost.
Hillary and Bill Clinton, please go away...And take your 18 million votes and 1896 delagates with you...
It is definately the media, for the most part, with just a few exceptions, that are trying depserately to inject some kind of drama into this about hard feelings and a rift between Hillary and Obama, and does she really suppport him, is she doing enough, etc etc etc. I was watching reporters last night doing their damnest to try and stir you know what...
So true, media trying their best to come up with "drama."
But, THE story WILL be Obama's destruction by the republicans.
It is not going to be pretty.
By the way,I am not a republican, and not a fan of McCain. However, I know exactly how the republicans are going to win this election. I am just being a realist.
Hillary is hurting Obama's chances, but he doesn't have a chance in hell anyway. This country is still decades, and I do mean DECADES away from electing anyone other than a white man as president. There are still too many racists and idiots in this country - Obama just can't win. At least Hillary would have had a better shot, but she's just too divisive, and a lot of people hate her too. It's sad, but Obama is going to go down as this generation's Dukakis or McGovern - educated liberals that can't win over the vast redneck majority.
Yes, there are bigots who will vote against their own best interests rather than for a black man. However, these same bigots would also vote against a woman. Hillary Clinton had even less chance of winning the Presidency because she is identified not only as a woman but as a strindent woman.
Educate liberals can indeed win against the vast redneck majority because the rednecks are the very ones who have suffered the most because of the Republican agenda. People will not vote against their own best interests in the 2008 because even the dumbest voters can recognize that this election is literally a life or death choice.
The Primary race was over after SuperTuesday. Hillary lost the primary but she didn't want to believe it. She was inevitable, right? So she stays in to loose 11 primaries in a row and still could not understand the math (I'm winning in the popular vote!...yeah right). So she goes into attack dog mode and now her comments are now being used by the RNC. I blame the Clintons for all of the psycho-drama that's currently happening in the DNC. Entitlement is a hard thing to give up when you believe you should have it. She lost fair and square. It's not Sen Obama's fault she had no plan to continue past SuperTuesday. Inevitable, right? So all of these Clintonites that are mad because they are under the delusion that Hillary was not treated right need to read the Politico.com piece on the primary. It shows how dysfunctional her campaign was from the start and how well prepared, relentless, and organized Sen. Obama's was. If he runs this country like he ran his campaign (efficient, frugal, and on an even keel), this country will be heading in the right direction within one year. I've had enough of the Clinton's.
I SO agree with this comment. I have made this point to others as well (about Obama's organization). Your point is so clear; can you believe it will STILL not be understood?
I agree with you
Obama wants to make great changes in the country and with a democratic congress and senate, he may be able to do just that. That being said, he needs the support of Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton, 18 million people voted for her and they will follow her lead in the election, this cannot be avoided and anyone who thinks otherwise is naive.
There are many people who will have a hard time voting for a black man for president, that is just the way it is, racism is alive and well in this country and is a force to be feared.
Hillary and Bill Clinton will look out for the best interests of this country and fully support Obama. Hillary will have her chance again one day, but this day belongs to Obama.
As a lifelong Democrat, I am at a crossroads. John McCain speaks for me much more than Barack Obama ever can. Along with Ronald Reagan, McCain will be the 2nd Republican I have ever voted for. The fact that Hillary Clinton was not even considered for VP cemented my vote... and ESPECIALLY the vote of my wife. (She feels like the Democratic Party deserted women on this one!!) And Joe Biden makes our decision even easier.
A vote for John McCain is a wasted vote because it is critical that this nation begin to immediately repair the substantial damage done by the incompetent and immoral Bush regime.
It is a sad fact of life but Republicans only give their nominations to the weakest candidates possible and the years of Republicans being in the White House result in nothing beneficial being accomplished on behalf of the American people. Ronald Reagan was both a failure as an actor and as a President because he was the first to introduce the concept of deficit financing. He had no respect for government and it showed clearly in his policies. George W. Bush has secured his place in history as the worst man to ever serve as President because he put himself and idealogy ahead of the people. John McCain is nothing more than one more low IQ Republican in the style of Reagan and Bush who does not have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to be an effective leader in the 21st century.
How people can blame Obama for campaigning to win (which is what Hillary and her kitchen sink did) is beyond me.
The AUDACITY of that uppidy guy to actually win!
I am very happy for you and your wife Mike J. Although, I'm at a bit of a loss as to how "JM speaks for you more than BO ever can". After all, very, very little separated BO and HC as far as the issues go (and it is the issues that's at stake here, is it not?), but very, very much indeed separates JM from both of them. Very interesting how now it's JM that speaks for you and the Mrs. Confusing, but interesting.
Obama's choice of Biden tells us more than just that Obama lacks experience. Biden was the leader of the Famous Six White Men who decided Anita Hill was lying during Clarence Thomas' Supreme Court hearings. Biden could not stand up for the truth from a black woman against a false charge of racism (I thought Anita Hill was black too?) from an angry, ultra conservative black man. What did Biden do to the Supreme Court by rolling over then? And what will he do now? He and Ted Kennedy (remember Chappaquiddick?) have shown us where they come from with women.
Vice President-to-be Joe Biden has shown over his three decades as a U. S. Senator that he supports women's issues. His most recent contribution was his sponsorship of the Violence against Women legislation that was signed into law.
Joe Biden did not roll over during the Clarence Thomas nomination process. He simply did not feel that the accusations of one person were sufficient to keep a black man off the Supreme Court.
Let's see, Mike J, you claim to be a lifelong democrat, yet you voted for RR? And now you're voting for JMc? Me thinks you're a wolf in sheep's clothing.....I for one, won't fall for it. Tell your boss, Rove, your little trick didn't work. no one here believes you.
It's time for Billary to go quietly into the sunset while they still have some dignity. Our country is so much greater then their vision and so much in need of a more youthful, unintrenched, forward-thinking champion of the people. Barack Obama is a great man and can stand on his own without the dregs of the past weighing down his hopes and dreams of how great our nation can be once again.
