The Republic convention was a good argument AGAINST giving them 4 more years. It was the same rhetoric and the same policies Republicans have been pushing for years (the ones that got us where we are). McCain may have talked bi-partisanship and working across the aisle, but the rest of the convention was low road partisanship of the worst kind. Either he is talking out of both sides of his mouth or he can't control his party. Either way, that does not mean change.

I agree! Let us not forget, "Read my lips," a thousand points of lights and, "You're doin' a heck of a job, Brownie". The GOP will say anything at anytime (especially during an election) to dupe the American people into another four years of the fat cats in Washington as well as big business sucking the life out of America. It is time for a change, and that change is Obama and Biden! Also, does America understand that McCain voted 90% of the time with Dubbya? So where's the change??

If big business sucks the life out of our country who do you think puts the life in? The Federal Government? Products, pay checks, infastructure etc. are all produced by "big business". Tax the businesses and they pass it on to you. This will increase your living expenses. Why do people think business is bad? I live in Illinois and the state has managed to tax hundreds of businesses to the point of closing or moving to another state or, worse yet, to another country. When a big company moves into your area I would bet that you and your neighbors are as happy as can be. Big business is not the bad guy in this country, big government is and the Republican philosophy gives us the best chance of reducing the size of the government.

You have got to be kidding. Unless you are a millionaire a few times over, the Republican philosophy is "screw you." Plain and simple - get out of the Republican "we've got the lock on patriotism at the same time we screw over the working folks in America and pad our pockets with your tax dollars but we will keep you in the God, guns and gays trance so you continue to screw yourself by voting for us" cult - please. Not for me but for YOU.

That's why we've lost over 600,000 jobs this year! Big Business keeps laying people off in the US to move jobs overseas. One of the two parties needs to change this statistic, and I can't see four more years of Bush/McCain making that happen.

I find it hard to believe that any of you can support Obama. You need to really look at what he's going to do this country. - Raising Taxes = less money in your pocket, higher unemployment rates as small businesses make up for their losses by laying off workers
        - "Socialized" Healthcare = take a look at Canada and tell me how it's working there ... it may be free, but it's terrible

This man has little to no experience in politics at an executive level. He's an excellent speaker (I give him that) but that is all that he is ... all talk.

Think about what is going to happen to this country! There's not going to be any kind of checks and balances as we are going to have a democratic congress and democratic president. It's gonna be Jimmy Carter all over again ... maybe even worse.

I'll see you at the unemployment line ... no you won't ... I don't need the government to fix my problems. Vote for Obama ... maybe his administration will bail you out.

What I find laughable is any Republican who thinks he is a conservative fearing Obama for national security or fiscal responsibility issues. Are we safer because Pres Bush put us into a foolish war and has spent our countries resources (money and lives) in such a wasteful way? Are we safer than if we had went after Bin Laden and terrorists instead of a crumbling dictator in Iraq? (Anyone remember the Powel Doctrine of War). Are we better of financially when we have lived through the most expensive Presidency in the history of the United States, and we have the highest debt that we our nation has ever had. Bill Clinton, for all his many faults, left George Bush a surplus. George Bush will leave a multi-trillion dollar debt.

We have a President with the lowest approval rating in history. We have a congress with the lowest approval rating in history. This Presidency has bankrupted America. Don't buy into the foolishness that the mortgage crises was caused by realtors, lenders, and appraisers. It was caused by a lack of liquidity. America is broke, and these bozos are trying to sell America on the idea that if appraisers were better regulated, we would be fine. Give me a break! The national debt is Trillions of Dollars. And some "Conservative Republicans" that are delegates to the National Republican Convention are worried that Obama might not keep us safe and will hurt our economy. Not only laughable, but truly amazing.

I am a 61 year old (OWG) living in Davis County, Utah. That is the most conservative county in the most conservative State in the United States. I have never voted anything other than a straight Republican ticket. I will proudly cast my ballot for Senator Obama. The Republican Party must be punished for the last eight years, and it must rebuild itself into a Party that sells what it promises: Competency and fiscal responsibility. Both have been totally absent in this administration. Obama offers change and his speech went point by point as to his plan to accomplish that change. His economic plan was far superior to any proposal coming out of the broken Republican Party.

For those voting republican first time in life, shame shame shame on you...it took just 7 short days of an introduction of Gov Palin to change your mind? Wow. What does that really say. I was not impressed at all by her speech...she didn't write it anyway. I wanted to hear from her - not a pre written Bush speech writer - instead she gave smudgy remarks about Obama and she doesn't even know him. I love how Obama reacted to this ridiculous attempt at a convention. In fact, I charge those Repubs with "borrowing" some of the Demo's ideas..."Change" Now all of a sudden, that word just rolls off of Sen. McCain's tongue as though he's the one that came up with that brilliant idea. I am so glad to be voting Democrat.

Interesting perspective. Big Business demands de-regulation and the "markets" will take care of themselves, but when the banking and loan industries nearly tanked our economy, the S & Ls come to the government looking for bail outs on the backs of the very taxpaying families who are losing their homes.

I work for a furtune 100 company. Their focus is to move lower level employees to contractor status, with the goal to eliminate paying health or retirement benefits. It's all LEGAL so, where is the problem....right? Boost the bottom line at all costs....make Wall Street happy?

I would suggest that small business keeps the country running. BIG Business is only here to reap profits, screw the workers, avoid paying any kind of taxes, and run away with millions in bonuses after laying off employees.

Need I mention Halliburton's mismanagement and war profiteering....then moving off shore to avoid paying taxes on their obscene profits?

How about the deregulation in the Futures markets, making it possible to make trades on paper without ever actually settling the deal?

Yeah, I can clearly see how Big Business makes our country better...(for them)

Country first what country I wasn't moved at all not even by his POW story. If I was a independent voter I would vote for Bob Barr better yet Ron Paul. How was Palin history more important than Obaama's, McCain is old I rather keep Bush than let McCain near the White House steps. It's the same.

LOL, and you think teh Dem's message was new. It is the same old thing with them. Raise taxes, increase social spending, go after big business, increased regulation. All i can say is this I own a small business in michigan. Dem's have been in for 6 years. Ran on same platform as Mr O. They have tripled in the taxes on small business reduced them for some big business and increased some of the taxes on insurance industry. Result is has been the following. Small business has been laying off people to pay for increased taxes. The insurance industry they have put a speical tax are now moving there headquarters out of state. The industries they have given tax breaks on (Auto) they are shedding jobs like crazy. They also increased the personal income tax in a down economy. Basically no better off. We will also be moving either out of state or out of the country to survive. To expenisve to do business in the state now.

With Mr. O card check legislation if he passes it like he promised you will see all those non union auto jobs leave the south of the USA and move to Mexico. Whenever I hear a polictian bash "Big Business" all the time is when I know they basically will be coming after small business again. Anyway long run McCain will do the least to harm us.

BTW the Dem's should have put Clinton as the Nominee much much better the Mr. O. She know that without small companies there would be no jobs and now growth. But they decide to put the person that has the least amount of experince on there ticket. Maybe they just don't want woman to have any power position like that.

Neither party is perfect and their will be pros and cons with either candidate. I think if everyone could set aside emotion, evaluate the candidates for what their beliefs truly are and what their historic impact has been for the people, the choice should be simple. We have a State Senator in Colorado that in 3 years has initiated more change for the people than Mr. Obama has in his entire career. If you have the time, look at how many votes Obama voted Present on. This means he voted niether for or against; doesn't this concern you to have someone who is indecisive only to hide his true position? Some people speak very well but never get anything done, create new government due to their ineffectiveness and raise taxes in doing so. Mr. McCain is truly in this for the country and the people; Obama has a motive that scares people who can see through his oral finesse.

I am voting Republican for the first time. Even though I'm having trouble believing that either party can deliver all the incredible amount of promises they are committing to, I think we are going to be facing another terrorist attack during the next few years, probably being planned as we speak - and I want the person who is going to be able act appropriately to that call at 3:00 in the morning. The economic, immigration, oil issues are all major, but security to me, for the safety of our children and all of America, is up there at the top. Without that, the other issues will not matter if we are not here.

The Republican talking points sounded better - lower taxes, less spending, more freedom. But it comes down to this, Republican rhetoric sounds better, but Democratic policies work better. That's why Republicans win elections even though they perform worse with respect to every single important economic indicator. You can do the research yourself. Republicans claim to create jobs, yet unemployment under Democrats averages under 5% and it's over 6% for Republican administrations. Republicans claim to put more money in your pocket, yet average after tax income growth under Democrats is 3.65% compared to 3% for Republicans. Republicans claim to grow the economy, yet average GDP growth under Democrats is 3.9% and only 2.9% for Republicans. It's the same with inflation, deficits, spending, stock market returns, all of them Republicans claim to know how to get the best results, but Democrats actually DO get the best results. There's an old saying that the definition of insanity of is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. If you want different results than the last 8 years, you're insane if you think you'll get them by electing a Republican again.

IS anybody else INSULTED and APPALLED once again by this idiotic opportunistic McCain USING the victims of 9/11 to further his political career. The victims in the Twin Towers were New Yorkers. Just how many are rolling over in their graves - along with their living families - considering that their legacies should constitute a YES vote.

I agree with you, McCain needs to go back and join the army, he is sad, our country is suffering for the greedy rich people. Jon want us o forget the last 8 yrs of high gas prices, shipping our jobs out of the USA and people losing their house. I was shock when I found out that Cindy McCain spent over 3000.00, for a dress, had on earring that was worth 280,000. It sure would be nice just to have the 3,000 she wasted on that ugly dress. These people can't even imagine the suffering of regular people,. Just wondering if you have enough money to pay your mortgagee ,utilities and maybe a car is getting to be almost impossible. People like Obama and Joe Biden can feel us, they need to be in the White house. I've always heard that the Republican are nothing but the Mobs anyway. That why they can be so evil, they are just dress up gangsters.

Your comment shows just how much attention you pay to what happens around you. The victims in the Twin Towers were people from all over the USA, and including many other countries. Did you actually think that just because it was in New York, that was the only people in it.........wow you are really intelligent. There were list of the people and states and countries they were from, it was all over the news. I am disgusted reading all the crazy stuff people are writing and its not even fact, one should check out the facts before posting a comment to keep from looking stupid....google it.

There are many substantive arguments for and against the Republican ticket. I am in complete agreement with the argument against McCain and Palin. In addition to the obvious, eloquently stated reasons listed in this discussion, I find both Republicans contradictions to the supposed "family values" their party espouses, total hypocrites!

McCain was involved with Cindy and left his first wife after a terrible accident that left her severely injured in an accident, after she had waited for him during his highly touted imprisonment. How's that for family values??

Palin preaches abstinence and lack of choice. Bristol is living proof of the effectiveness of pushing abstinence instead of educating our children on safe sex. Where is Palin's judgement when she states that a 17-year old minor has decided she will get married? Where is her judgement when she did not provide her daughter with enough information and support to make a better choice, before she got pregnant? Where is her judgement when she is now putting this extremely vulnerable 17-year old child, and her "baby daddy" boyfriend on public display - all but glorifying their bad choices? Where is Palin the parent?? Any family is vulnerable to teenage pregnancies. That is not the point. How the family deals with educating our children in hopes of preventing unwanted pregnancies, or the manner in which we support our children if an unwanted pregnancy occurs, is the point. Glorifying teenage pregnancy and giving it a national stage to shout out - "It's okay, America," is wrong!! Where is the judgement, Sarah Palin? I do not want my minor children and family members to ever think that a teenage pregnancy is cool! While Palin having a teenager who is pregnant makes her more like the rest of us, it does not make her ready for the presidency. Every VP candidate has to be considered a potential president. Palin is not ready for prime time. Her ambitions seem to exceed her responsibilities as a parent at a time when she is needed most by her daughter and by an infant with special needs. I have an adult cousin who has Down Syndrome. He has required a significant amount of care and nuturing, far exceeding the levels his two sibliings required. It seems as though Palin's family needs her more than America, at this time.

These are the candidates who would become the moral standard for many people in America, and possibly the world, if they were to be elected. Neither of them represent the moral character or fiber I want in the White House. I understand that many of the former presidents have had skeletons that were exposed once they were in office. However, we know ahead of time. Add this to the other well documented arguments against their election, and it seems like a slam dunk to me,

McCain has knowingly tossed his heroism in the garbage. Being a hero has less to do with what an individual has suffered, than with how he has used his experiences to alleviate the suffering of others. Knowing firsthand that torture does not produce results, knowing that torture only encourages other armies to eventually punish soldiers from a country that tortures, and knowing that what the USA has done to foreign soldiers and combatants is torture, McCain has done nothing to stop this crime whose future of horrors we can only guess at. McCain alone, over any other American, had the voice of power and the authority on this issue to made this country proud. We waited, there was no voice. And now, every time he reminds me of his time as a POW, he is only reminding me that he is a man without values.

What color is the sky in your World? Here on Earth Bill Clinton is a Saint compared to what Bush & Co. have done to this Country!! The entire Bush Administration should be charged with Treason!!

You don't know how much I wish little George Bush Jr would have just went and had a little fling on the side rather than destroy this Country as he and his Administration have done. If you don't know how many lies Bush & Co. have been heaping on us for the last 8 years then I think you sir are one of those sheep you're complaining about.

You'd better wake up and soon. You and all your fellow Republican sheeple.... one more term of Republican rule and I shudder to think of the state this once great and powerful Nation will be in.

I still don't understand how getting your plane shot down over enemy territory makes you a Hero but it must be true because Republicans keep saying it over and over... and now it's really lost the effectiveness it once had. If all that is required to be a hero is to be captured by the enemy I guess we're lucky we don't have more Hero's because there would be nobody left to actually do the fighting.

I'm not trying to downplay his sacrifice here, I appreciate his service to our Country but let's put it in perspective.

Are we better off than we were 8 years ago? We don't have to go back 30 - 50 years... just 8 will do...I think most people will tell you no they aren't better off than they were 8 years ago if they are honest about it. And who has been running the Country during that time? Oh yeah, the Republicans...

You realize Sir that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

I'm going to suggest you lay off that Republican Kool-Aid for awhile maybe give that fuzzy haze your living under a chance to lift so maybe you can see things as they truly are....

You don't have to... it's just a suggestion. Good Luck to you and yours, if your dreams come true you're going to need it.

Two facts are economically irrefutable. First, Asama's economic plan is faulty. Tax increases lower taxes. We lose jobs for two factors - high corporate taxes and too much regulation. This is in sync with McCain.

Secondly, the dollar weakness has been the cause of middle class squeeze and high prices for decades. This comes primary from deficit spending. Every dollar they give you ought of debt raises cost 1.50.

McCain doesn't say enough about cost cutting. But, Obama says nothing. I think partisan politics has hurt this country. But, unless you have the IQ of a dog, you can't be serious about Obama.

Remember aside from the bad war, every economic factors from unemployment to new jobs was better under Bush than Clinton. And, McCain is nothing like Bush. Hillary is closer to Bush than McCain. Dream away partisans. McCain is taking this one by double digits.

ScrewAllDems it's obvious that you were born with some sort of mental dysfunction. Democrats don't just stand for social programs and paying taxes, and while I am talking about social programs maybe you could have benefited from one of them and learned something about checks and balances. It's obvious that you are not making six figures or more, because you are as you say, "WORKING CLASS". Republicans don't care about you, and aren't worried about saving you a dime in taxes because you are not in the top 1% of the nations wage earners and therefore you don't make enough for their tax cuts. Whether you're democrat or republican who wants to pay for illegals or deadbeats. Democrats place importance where it's needed, after all the citizens make up this country, work in this country, die in this country, and DIE FOR THIS COUNTRY. Why shouldn't every AMERICAN CITIZEN benefit from this country. People dream of living the "American Dream" that we were sold as children, but if this type of leadership continues all dreams will be over before they begin. That is not the future I want whether you are democrat or republican, change is needed or we are all screwed!!!

One thing that bothered me about John McCain coming into this campaign I wasn't sure where he stood. He may not be the best Republican Candidate but I had much rather have a senator with 26 years of experience than one with 17 months. Additionally I had much rather have a tried and true war hero as the Commander in Chief rather than a Harvard trained lawyer and community organizer during the trying times that America faces in today's world. Experience matters.

Did all of you Obama lovers huff a bottle of glue at the beginning of this election? Because I think a bottle of Elmer"s up the nose is the only explanation for your delusions. Obama offers nothing. If you want a guy who specializes in rhetoric, and talking in circles, than by all means vote for Obama. Imagine this scenario, Vladimir Putin is standing in front of McCain and Obama, and his finger is on the trigger. You HONESTLY tell me who he has more respect for, who he is going to take more seriously, who is going to keep him from pushing that button. We all know that McCain is the answer to that question. You need a strong leader running your country. Not a zero experience, drug using, domestic terrorist associating(William Ayers), American hating church attending, do nothing, snob. The real reason so many of you people are voting for the guy is because the media, and his campaign, is spending so much time making people (who can't think for themselves) think that if you don't vote for Obama, well then you must be a racist. Study the issues people, put political parties aside, and really look at the issues. Look at how much Obama flip-flops, look at how he wants to raise taxes, look at how he wants more government, and more bureaucracies. Look at his energy crisis fix: Tune your car up, and make sure your tires are properly inflated. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!! All the guy wants to do is take more money out of your pocket, and give it to the government. And to all you Catholics out there who support Obama, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. Since when did Catholics start supporting a man who is pro-choice, and SUPPORTS partial birth abortions??? I know of a certain man who sure DOESN'T support partial birth abortions, or ANY abortions for that matter, and his name is THE POPE!!! In closing, John McCain is one of the most selfless, un-egotistical, and "for the people" Presidential candidates this nation has ever had. His ONLY interest is for the American people, and the country he loves. EVERYONE here knows that Obama CANNOT say the same thing. The choice is so PAINFULLY obvious that I must resort back to my earlier assertion that if you are pro Obama, you must have huffed a bottle of Elmer's. And to touch on one last thing, the comparison between Palin and Biden is so one-sided in Palin's favor that it's laughable, and requires no more elaboration on my part, but I can't help myself. Sarah Palin is smart as a whip, intelligent as the day is long, and tough as nails. She will stand up to anyone who gets in the way of her and the country that she loves, and she will protect America, and it's children as if we were her own. Not to mention she is stunningly beautiful! Joe Biden is EXACTLY the same old tired Washington bureaucrat that Obama said he WASN'T going to pick, which just shows what a flip-flopper he truly is. McCain/Palin is the obvious choice, and as far as I am concerned, the ONLY choice.

Boy are you democrats upset or what!! Just shows you that your are running scared and we Republicans are so very happy about that. Obama cannot hold a candle to McCain. Someone pushed a stick up Obama's butt and is holding him up there for whatever reason and they are going to use him as a puppet. It is so obvious that I have lost all respect for the people who ARE for Obama. He is see-through. Not handsome, not a good speaker unless it is scripted for him and all he can say is the same thing over and over and over again. That man is more establishment and more "Bush" than McCain will ever be. I am voting for the MAN and that MAN is McCain. You guys just can't REALLY find anything wrong with him and are groping at straws. You will eat your words when McCain wins BECAUSE if Obama wins (OMG how horrible would that be)....but if he does, you will HAVE to EAT your words because we will be taxed to the max and that is all you will HAVE TO EAT because you won't be able to afford anything else. Take the blinders off you sorry democrats.

Yes things are bad right now. What I want to know who for the last three years has controled congress. Now we want a change, and that should be in congress. By the way what qualifactions does either of the Dems have to lead this country? A poor boy that had to work his way thru college and never held a job but, now lives in a 1.5 million dollar home. Isn't AMERICA GREAT!!!!!

Are you kidding me? Nominating Palin as McCain's VP candidate is one of the most insulting move by McCain, and to add insult to injury he is running around telling all of us 'dummies' how qualified she is! What is he afraid of a QUALIFIED female running mate like RICE? She has made history today by meeting with Libya's leadership for the first time since 1953. Now that's foreign policy experience! As a Republican, woman, and Solider, this move was one of the most blatant gimmicks that I have seen in politics for a long time and the sad part is that he used a gender as the basis to level this most recent transparent gimmick. As someone who is a community organizer and is VERY involved in our local community, I found it very insulting to hear some of the leaders of our country whom I have loved and respected, down grade our work in such a manner. I have fought long and hard as a mother and concerned citizen to provide and support programs what will promote positive outlets and social awareness within our community for my children and the young generation and alternatives to the negative avenues that are currently available. I also was disturbed by the reaction by the party to the teenage pregnancy of Palin's young daughter. What type of message are we sending to our children when certain people attack Jamie Lynn Spear's teen pregnancy and call her parent's 'pin heads' but turn around and praise Palin's daughter for her choice. At least Jamie Lynn Spear's has employment that will help her provide for her family. This election has been one of the NASTIEST elections I have ever seen, as it has targeted race as well as gender in its attacks. Some of the garbage that I have seen and read during this time as made me realizes that this country has a long way to go, before we can STOP looking at the color of someone's skin or the gender of a QUALIFIED candidate.
This move by McCain and his campaign has sealed my decision to vote for Obama in the November election, as I am not willing to gamble my county's future on the fact that there might be a possibility that McCain and his inexperienced VP might run this country. And for all those out there who wish to push far right and left policies, agendas, and attempt amend of our constitution, I all I have to say is 'YOUR liberty ends, where MY nose begins!'

OMG rightwingmin. Where have you been? Read about Palin's rep in her own town. She didn't get the "Sara Barracuda" moniker because she worked so hard at her sports in high school, but because she, like Macbeth, would do ANYTHING to get and keep what she wanted. Shows no moral fiber to me. Beauty is as beauty does--remember Dan Quayle-can you spell potato? His looks got him the V; thank God he never got to prove his inabillity to lead. I say Biden has the advantage over the beauty. Let's look at issues, not decoration.

                                Hello Jhow,

The issues are all I look at my friend. I am afraid that your logic is flawed. Your "Sara Barracuda" example is exactly the reason that I love Palin as a VP so much. I want someone who is hard as steel, and will fight tooth and nail for what she believes in, which obviously, are the same things I believe in. And if you want to talk about moral fiber, all you have to do is look at the people Obama has associated with the past 20 years: Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, and William Ayers. Enough said.

I think with the issues we are facing both at home and abroad we need people in the White House who have the experience to do the job - on day one. Obama has NO experience - Biden isn't bringing change (he's been around for 30 years!!) - so where is this change coming from? Great - we get a guy who has no idea what he is doing and another guy who is going to do the same old crap he has been doing. My vote is for McCain. Here is a man who gave his all for his country when he could have walked away - he will fight for us. Then you add to that Palin who also has experience fighting off the good old boys. I get so tired of hearing everyone complain about the Republicans. Has everyone been asleep for the last 8 years? Who is running the Senate and Congress? Not the Republicans - this is where all the deals and laws are made - wake up America!! It's not the Republicans you need to be afraid of - it's the other guys!!

What change can Obama/Biden bring, the answer is easy, more increased taxes, running away from a war that has to be victorious, and still depending and bargaining on foreign oil! Obama couldn't even greet the solider's over in Iraq, instead he passed them by so he could shoot his campaign in a gym. People keep saying Palin's education, that she is not qualified, due to not having a degree, give me a break are you saying people without a degree are stupid? And as far as her pregnant daughter goes that could happen to any parent, I don't think they are at all they are promoting teenage pregnancy, you liberals make me sick!! Everyone wants to blame Bush, just like on Mondays after a football game on Sunday people blame the quarterback or the coach for a losing game. People it takes a team for victory whether Republican or Democrat, we are all Americans and we all need to start working together as Americans not liberals!

Yes Greg you Gas prices have gone up, thank you for pointing that out/ Only one problem...

The democrats gained a simple majority in Congress in January 2007. They do NOT however have even close to enough votes to overturn a veto (that would be George Bush) They have put up bills, and they get veto'd by W. Soo,, not much new has been spent because W has to agree with it first.

The senate however is still controled by the republicans, and both houses have been republican controlled for the last 8 years. During that time, we have gone from 1.2 Biilon dollar surplus, to a 3 Trillion dollar debt. How did we get in so much debt? Tax cuts for large companies and the wealthiest 1%, Earmarks (including the bridge to nowhere) in the 100's of Billions, and the Iraq war..

McCain said in a speech that Palin sold the Governor's jet on eBay at a profit which isn't true. It didn't sell on eBay at all and was sold later at a loss. My guess is that Palin told him the truth but at 72 years old, his memory probably isn't what it use to be.

its almost laughable that commucrats don't see whats coming. their witching season will soon be over if only temporarily, but over it will be. they miss the cause and effect of our economy, supply and demand. the economic slump has a few facets but the only two can help immediately one is lower taxes, since commucrats can not comprehend that well move on to the next, and that is drilling for oil now. OPEC does NOT want to compete with REAL American independent business owners drilling for oil in our own country and they will lower their prices to prevent it. notice that just talking about drilling, drops the price (cause and effect) and now we have a VP from the right place at the right time to get this done GO SARA GO. commucrates are right about one thing change is coming

"McCain said in a speech that Palin sold the Governor's jet on eBay at a profit which isn't true. It didn't sell on eBay at all and was sold later at a loss. My guess is that Palin told him the truth but at 72 years old, his memory probably isn't what it use to be."

Actually Palin said that in an interview with Rush Limbaugh.

I agree totally. McCain is letting his party push him further and further to the right. I have tried to remain balanced by watching both conventions but to be honest the Republican convention was just a personal and professional attack on Obama with no real plan on how to get anything done. How many times can we hear that McCain is a reformer when I think what he meant to say was conform because that is all we have seen him do right down to his pick of a vice presidential nominee

Palin is a brilliant choice. She connects with everyday people, none of the other candidates seems to connect as she did. WOW!

The Republicans have nothing to showcase so as always, they must rely on smear campaigns - they are the MASTERS OF SPIN. They are like bullies in the school yard, when things don't go there way they resort to name calling and insults. What amazes me is that they have a following. People actually buy into it. It would be nice if for once instead of slamming their opponents, they would concentrate on the real issues that most Americans care about. How can they possibly align themselves with the religious right and proclaim to have moral and religious values and at the same time resort to those tactics? Is that what Jesus taught us? How can they base their platforms on issues such as gun control? Aren't we struggling in Iraq and Iran because we want to keep WMD out of their hands? Shouldn't the same logic be applied to gangs here in the US? Don't we want to keep AK47's out of their hands as well? What hippocrites!

After the truth comes out about Palin, and it already is, McCain will put shackles on her and tell her to "shut up woman". I have recently discovered that she has already lied in regards to the jet she claims she sold on Ebay. Never happened. After sitting on Ebay with no bids an aviation company in Alaska sold that jet and made the commission on it. But the repukes cheered and cheered. As for the repukes taking jabs at Obama and other hard working people in this country who lend a helping hand in the communities they live in...gop is #^&(@^. Using 911 as a scare tactic was totally distasteful, but that's only expected from the mean spirited right nuts that we've all gone to tolerate. When is McLamb going to turn his VP pick out for the media? Oh and why wasn't his first WIFE mentioned in his mini bio? Did he not bare a child with this woman? The Democrats have had control of the House and Senate for less than 2 years. It takes a lot more than that to undo the damage of the Republicans who were in control for the DECADE before that! Give em time and a president who isn't such a stubborn idiot who won't consider anyone's opinion except his own, and they will get there. In other words, get Obama in there, and together they will make the corrections and changes this country so desperately needs!

Unwed is correct. Increasing taxes on business has never led to a hiring spurt. Why will it work now? Companies have to answer to their shareholders and they will want to know what the CEO will do to cut costs to offset the tax increase. Higer taxes will also lead the foreign companies to rethink setting up shop here.

What Obama proposes is a new welfare system that enables people, when we should empower people. That is what Republicans seek, however they have lost their way for the past 4 years. That is what McCain seeks to change and regain for his party.

Spending during the 8 year republican administration has steadily gone up with Mr. Bush signing every bill and earmark produced by the house and senate (without exception) until the democrats gained a majotity in the congress (house) in 2007. The only other change in the rate of spending (much more) was when the US went to War with Iraq (started in 2002) that costs roughly $10 Billion per month, as the "coalition" provides few actual troops, and even less monetary support, which explains why the US has 10 times the troop deaths and inuries of all of the coalition members put together.

Why do republicans and my fellow Americans have such low standards for our elected officials? They claim that experience is a key ingredient to being elected to the highest Executive position in our country! Besides what the constitutional requirements are for an individual to hold the elected office of the Presidency of the United States, why are we not holding our elected officials to a higher standard than we would any CEO that would be considered to run a Fortune 500 company? Should we not demand that they have a Masters Degree in at least one of the following studies, such as, Business, Law, or Communication? Should we not demand that they pass some type of basic constitutional law test, so that we can make sure that they at least comprehend our most cherished document? How can you not want the most qualified, educated, articulate individual to represent you and your country?

No, we settle for someone who just barely passes college that they got into because the family is wealthy, or barely makes it through the Naval Academy that they only got into because of their families legacy, or we settle for a VP select that went through 6 different universities in 5 years and came out with a degree in journalism. Now I'm not putting down journalist, but seriously why are we not more demanding of our highest Executive position? Governor Palin was a sports broadcaster, then a part time major of a small town, how can you seriously consider voting for this VP selection that could possible have to take over the POTUS, if something were to happen to McCain. She is currently Governor of a state that's population is less than most major cities. The current Mayor of Omaha Nebraska has more experience than she does. His town has a Population over 800,000 residents which is larger than the entire state of Alaska, and at least he was a CEO of his own Business. Maybe that is why our education system is in such peril. At least the Democratic Nominee – went through Harvard Law School, graduated at the top of his class, and has taught constitutional law for numerous years.

How can we gain the respect of our fellow nations around the world when we elect our President via a popularity contest, verses an educated and thorough hiring/election process? My fellow Americans, before you go to the polls in November, think it through! America, this is your country, you are on the board of directors trying to hire the right person. Why would you settle for the least experience person, least educated, especially when you have only two choices? Or are you just one of the kids in high school that voted for the popular kid, because you were told to, but didn't know why? Do the research, find out and demand the facts, don't listen to the talking heads, or even your friends and neighbors. Take the time and get educated on the issues, and the candidates for our highest Executive position. Hopefully you will conclude that there is only one real choice –

That's because she's a con artist. Can't you see what McCain's choice is doing? Do you want Palin as President when McCain kicks the bucket?

I agree with "self-educated voter" on one point - we should not be electing our president through a popularity contest. That is why I am NOT voting for Barack "All Image No Substance" Obama. Voting for him would be exactly like voting for the popular kid in high school. He has minimal experience, minimal qualifications, and no real ideas.

                                                    Amy Jean,

Please stop and review your "connected"-ness with Governor Palin and take the time to study the platforms. Give the "glow" you might have felt listening to Palin's speech (not written by her, but read quite dramatically!) a chance to settle down. Then ask yourself if you REALLY want an unqualified, inexperienced person a heartbeat away from the presidency, and if you REALLY want what the Republicans want for the next four years. One good delivery of a speech and certainly being governor of a state with <700,000 people (and a budget smaller than San Diego's) do not a good VP make! Take a hard look (without factoring in the personalities) at the issues; then make an educated, informed choice that is not based on emotion.

I lived in Alaska for two years. Trust me, it's a beautiful state, absolutely breathtaking across most of it, but it is not a valid training ground for those seeking national office.

If I were basing my choice on emotion, Governor Palin would be eliminated just for her grating voice and nasty, snide, and disrespectful words. However, I'm solidly supporting Obama/Biden because of the issues they support; they're important to all of us that the U.S. can regain its moral and ethical standing in the world community that has been eroded by the last eight years.

Wow, you think THAT'S connecting?!?? In that case - good luck. You're going to need it.

Sarah Palin did nothing but issue a cookie-cutter GOP speech constructed by McCain's people, in which she stated only what was necessary and only what the Republicans NEEDED to hear to give McCain ANY hope for their votes. She knows nothing of foreign policy and almost as little about McCain's policies - and therefore she stuck to familiar ground, including strutting about her "achievements", sniping attacks against Obama and Biden that came across as cheap and unnecessary when our country is floundering in today's market, and repeating again and again and AGAIN that she is a former hockey mom (which qualifies her for my vote......WHY EXACTLY?). It's quite simple - McCain isn't socially conservative enough to win with the Republican base, therefore he picked a rather viciously-conservative partner to help him out with that. Well - that, and to help him try and "poach" those poor Hillary women who apparently have no backbone or morals of their own and are just as likely to vote for Palin because SHE is a woman, too, right??

                                                    WRONG!

As a woman, I can truthfully say that Palin represents as many of my standards and beliefs as a lump of rock. And believe me - Hillary's voters feel the same way. They feel belittled and condescended by McCain's blatant effort to "win them over"......thanks for making women feel like nothing more than sheep, or lemmings. That smarts.

All around this amazing country, a feeling is stirring. A feeling across party boundaries and across the aisle, that we really do need someone with a VISION and greater intelligence than John Smith on the street to make certain a prosperous future for us all. This fine country needs change, and needs hopes and dreams. There's only ONE man and one man's government that can deliver any of that to us, and it's not John McCain.

                                                    Obama is The One!!!!

Don't be fooled. Sarah Palin didn't even write that speech. She sounded like she was reading a book to kids at storytime. Yes she is a great actress, but that is all she is. I am very dissapointed with the lack of an agenda in both her and McCain's speeches. There only economic solution to our country's financial disaster is "we won't raise taxes". McCain is a war hero but what does he know about Economics. Do your homework. Here is a quote from McCain "I'm going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated."

The U.S. has a record deficit, a botched war that is costing billions of dollars per yer, strained foreign policy, and the biggest financial crises (that has yet to even surface) since the great depression.. and all of this occurred with LOW Taxes. So what good are low taxes if consumers are not spending, people are losing their homes, and businesses are going under. I listened to all of the speeches with an open mind and the truth is that McCain and Palin are offering no economic strategies to help bring our country back to the top. If we don't do something soon, we could be taking orders from China.

So please, could you have picked a worse possible time to say that you are voting Republican for the first time. I'm sorry but you must only be voting because she is a woman and that in itself is a shame. We cannot tolerate another 4 years of the last 8 years. Our country is virtually bankrupt right now. Thanks George W.

Amy Jean (and other repubs), read this LIE from ur favorite Sarah Palin :

"A long-delayed natural gas pipeline championed by Gov. Sarah Palin that would carry supplies from Alaska to Canada and then to the lower 48 states exists in concept only and is years away from fruition.

The vice presidential hopeful, in her speech Wednesday to the Republican National Convention, said she fought to bring about "the largest private-sector infrastructure project in North American history" to bolster America's energy security.

"And when that deal was struck, we began a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence," Palin said."
                                                    (taken from )

i am sure some republican will stand up and defend/justify this too.... just so that he/she can convince himself/herself for the blind support to the republican party. PLEASE DO SO.

I cannot believe the idiots in this country that are even contemplating on voting for John McCain. All he talks about is his time in vietnam as a prisoner of war. Well guess what? He didn't really do anything during that time but wait to be released and returned back to the US.

I firmly believe that the only reason why most people are voting for him, is because they do not want to vote for a black person period. This country is in such disarray, and McCain had ample time in the senate to make a change, and he's done nothing. Wake up people! Obama is your best bet to get back with enjoying life.

Oh, and on the Palin pick; give me a break! God forbid if Obama had a teenage daughter that was pregnant. She can't even run her own household, so how in the world is she gonna help run this country.

PDX Brown, Please let us all know where the holes are? How was all of this laughable? By the way, did you see Bill O'Reilly last night? Obama can't even hold a candle to Bill O...I thought the part where Obama voted against the surge and now admits it was extremely successful was interesting. Here is a man who wants to lead our country, but votes against some of the most successful things that we are doing now....One more thing about Palin, the speech that she gave was not being read...if you would do your research, you would find that the teleprompter speed was off and she had to shoot it from the hip! Nice try though!

She is coming under inditement for the "trooper gate", her underage daughter is expecting a child (what about all the family value and abistinance crap the republicans keep pushing down our throats).

Palin is the biggest hypocrite. She was FOR the bridge to nowhere until she realized how bad it looked to the rest of the country. She is said to be pro-life even in extreme situations like rape, but when announcing her teen daughter's un-wed pregnancy she basically said it was her daughter's descision to keep the baby and marry the father. Isn't that PRO-CHOICE?? So she wants the government to make that choice for all women except the ones she cares about. That is hypocricy at it's finest.

                                                    Amy,
Hope you know that Palin does not believe in birth control, only abstinence, does not believe in abortion even when pregnancies happened thru incest or rape, has ordered the denning and aerial shooting of thousands of wolves in Alaska, does not believe in climate change resulting from humans, her husband works for Big Oil (British Petroleum who sponsored her speech), worked to ban specific books in Alaska, and if you believe this is okay, I say vote for her. These are facts, google them, see for yourself. Personally this scares me a lot, I'd vote for Hillary but not Sarah Palin.

You forgot to mention the fact that she received the earmark money for the Bridge to Nowhere but after it was canceled as Governor of Alaska she didn't return the money....

Is this the type of person we want a heartbeat away from the Presidency?

And I believe the phrase that was used concerning her Daughter's pregnancy was that it was her CHOICE!!

Kinda Elitist don't you think? Palin's Family gets to make Choices but Palin would do everything possible to take away every other woman's Choices.

Secondly, ALWAYS remember that it was SOLDIERS, not activists who gave the protesters you are talking about, the RIGHT to protest in the first place.

Thirdly, you know nothing about me, and you have obviously never been to Minnesota. I on the other hand, have been to the Bronx, and let's just say that I would let my 76 year old Grandmother walk down the street at 3:00am by herself NO PROBLEM. Personally I thought that Harlem was MUCH worse than the Bronx, I mean slick Willy has an office in the Bronx, so let's quit talking about it like it's the projects.

Now, I grew up with ZERO privilege, and was actually homeless and lived in our 1972 Toyota Corona with my Father and Sister for 6 months in the streets of La Habra, California. Just because I live in Minnesota now, doesn't mean I always did. So, once again, I cannot thank you enough for exhibiting your true colors, and passing off judgement on someone whom you have never even met, in typical Democrat fashion.

And last but not least, I am a Republican because I have been poor, I have lived on the streets, and I have been down on my luck. And I wanted to DO SOMETHING about it, rather than just take handouts from the Government, and do nothing and just expect the Government to fix all of my problems. Which, in case I haven't mentioned it before, is the Liberal Dems Modus Operandi.

So if you have anymore judgemental, pre-conceived notions about me Gretchen, feel free to direct them to me at your leisure.

                                                        Warmest Regards, RightWingMinnesotan

Correction to my own comment above.

I meant to say, slick Willy has an office in HARLEM.

                                                          Thanks,

Amy Jean - I couldn't agree wtih you more! I was on the fence before these conventions - not too jazzed up about it. My gut will NOT allow me to vote for Obama because of his arrogance and empty experience (not to mention his associations with unsavory people).

McCain - great guy - great patriot - reaches to the other side but not very inspiring.

Palin on the scene! Watch out! I'm in love with her. She's authentic - not afraid to say what she feels - not intimidated by today's politically correct nuttiness. She's so refreshing - so unlike anything that's been to Washington before. I truly feel like Sarah will make history.

Hillary must be throwing up on a nightly basis now. Traditional old-school feminists and the media are like deer in the head lights.

We got ourselves a horse race, people! I work at a university and many of the female professors who have been around the liberal front for years LOVE this Sarah of ours. She's an inspiration - something to be reckoned with.

I'm convinced she's thrown a wrench into this political drama - a good one that could not have come at a better time. She may have saved us from this ZerObama nightmare. Biden? Biden??!??!? Yikes - so much for "change" - the real "change" is obviously a woman from Alaska - a true American pioneer.

My gut will NOT allow me to vote for Obama because of his arrogance and empty experience (not to mention his associations with unsavory people).

She's authentic - not afraid to say what she feels - not intimidated by today's politically correct nuttiness. She's so refreshing - so unlike anything that's been to Washington before. I truly feel like Sarah will make history.

His arguement is that by it'self didn't achieve the goal, as the Iraqi's weren't doing their part to build a stable government and we should pressure them to do that" It is well accepted that the "awakening" (ccoperation of internal waring factions) got the iraqi's building a government, which had nothing to do with the surge.

The pauses were largely taken up by appluase. Her speech was written by Bush speechwriter Matthew Scully. He had crafted the words before Palin was picked, and the biographic details were added after her selection.

The debates will be watched, you are right about that.

But I am failing to understand your comments about the "Box", or "Bubble". Maybe you could elaborate, because never anywhere in any of my posts, did I ever say that the USA should be, or that I was a "isolationist". You see Gretchen, an isolationist wants to hide in his or her bubble, but I, in no way, ever insinuated such a thing. I love the world, and have traveled all over it, which further cements my belief that the USA is the greatest nation in the world. Former Prime Minister Tony Blair once said, when asked by Parliment why he was such a staunch supporter of the USA: "Because there is no other country in this world, that so many people want into, yet so few people want to leave."

Gretchen, I do not under any circumstance want the USA to become a liberal, socialistic society like Europe. Our country was founded as a REPUBLIC, and if it is up to me, a Republic it will stay. The USA became the greatest nation in the world not by emulating other countries, but by leading the pack, and by going it's own way. The United States of America leads, it does not follow. And if for some reason you think that makes me want to live in a "box", or a "bubble", than sign me up. And if a liberal, socialistic society is what you are looking for, I am sure that Europe would be glad to have you.

                                                                            Regards,

However, Im left with the impression that Obama is simply more intelligent than McCain. After 8 years with a non-intellectual president, this is really important to me. I believe his intelligence will lend itself to more creative solutions and a stronger ability to make the right decisions to affect these changes.

Not to mention that in the end he (McCain) completely "threw his party under the bus" in an effort to appeal to independents and undecideds. It goes to prove two points, 1) he and his running mate will say anything to win; and 2) he will turn his back on his most fervent supporters (MANY Republican party leaders) to win. What does that say about his character and how would he treat Americans if he were to be elected to our country's highest office. It's clear that Mr. McCain has no real respect for the American people when he and Ms. Palin can laugh at and ridicule the efforts of everyday people that have gotten involved in the election process at the grassroots, ground level because they believe in the idea that WE can make a difference. Surely, even they can't deny that "our community organizer" is much more than they bargained for!!!

                                                                                  Obama/Biden '08

What substance did she bring to the table? As a moderate, I found nothing she said particularly inspiring or helpful. I am glad she was a Hockey Mom, and that she managed a small town, however, what are her principles? where does she stand on the issues? There were small half truths to her speech, and honestly, that scares me, as she is backing up the oldest nominee for office. I voted McCain in 2000, but I don't know as though I can support this ticket. Palin, so far, has offered nothing more than what the other speakers before her gave, attacks on issues we don't know if she has understanding of.

I think you're confusing "feminism" with "femininity." Feminism is a political movement designed to empower women, and Sarah Palin has very little of that brand of politics in her. The politics of current conservatism are more or less the exact opposite of feminism.

And no, we're not scared of her. We are thrilled that such a poor choice was made. Beware of using Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity as your information source regarding how scared the left is, and quote me one person on the left who says that they are scared.

It's the right who's scard, because they know what a poor choice this was. If she gets pulled, they are positioning themselves to say it was because of the liberal media. It's a lie.

Well said. 5 days ago Sarah Palin didn't know what a VP did and today she is more experienced than Obama or really Joe Biden the actual Democratic VP candidate????? That is why they write her speeches, then hide her in a cave till the next prewritten and rehearsed speech comes available. They know she is not prepared for this position. As a middle aged, small business owner, some college educated woman...I am insulted that they think putting a woman on the platform would draw my vote!!!!! If we can prepare a person to be VP in 60 days...then why do we have a presidential race???? Might as well just be a resume and interview in front of a equal panel of Republicans and Democrats judges of course with a tie breaker.

At first I thought the comment about Palin being true, unselfish model of of feminism was being sarcastic - but I guess not. In no way is Palin a feminist. She would not even clami to be one. She does not support equal pay for equal work. She is not concerned about "women's" issues. She is against choice; she cut $3 million from support of teenage mothers.

I do agree with your statement that I am afraid of Palin though. She threatens everything I believe. The environment (thinks global warming is a hoax), health care, energy alternatives (she understands drilling for oil, that's it), censorship (she wanted to fire their local librarian for refusing to ban books from the library), and of course control of our own bodies (men know so much more about it).

And we "liberal Democrats" would not have had a five month old baby (regardless of his health) at a convention at 11 at night. We are a selfish bunch all right.

This woman will do anything for political gain. Listen to the real people in Alaska talk about her. She's a barracuda - in the sense of the "mean girls". Cross her and she'll make sure your life is hell. She'd be a great one to build bi-partisanship.

You are delusional and obviously a one topic voter. I'm glad that there are more of us who care about ALL the issues and can see that Obama/Biden offer us the greatest opportunity to putting this country back on the right track.

You think that Sarah Palin—whose views disregard a woman's right to choose for herself and blithely reinforce the gender stereotypes that have oppressed women in this country for centuries—is the epitome of feminism?

"Feminism is the radical notion that women are people." While Sarah Palin struts around the country filling our ears with the idea that the ultimate aspiration and duty of a woman is to be a hockey mom, Hillary Clinton has bravely confronted and worked to deconstruct that view. Hillary supporters should be offended and outraged that this woman has been chosen to represent the feminist movement. Am I saying a woman shouldn't dream of being a hockey mom? Absolutely not. But to put that position on a pedestal as the apex of a woman's capability and to treat it as an obligation is as shocking as it is utterly sexist.

I will not be voting for John McCain this November. I had not been strongly considering it in the first place, but his obvious and horrifyingly blatant ignorance toward issues of feminism and sexism in this country has tipped me over the edge. Anyone who thinks Sarah Palin's nomination in any way supports the feminist agenda needs to strongly reconsider.

                                                                                    {"commentId":2783180,"threadId":"350045","contentId":"1830383","authorDomain":"strofoss"}

Millions of lives taken every year, and thanks to Roe v Wade it is legal. I pray that Roe v Wade gets overturned. The legalized murder of millions trumps all the other issues combined.

Here's another concept. Random drug testing for welfare and food stamp recipients. Our congress spends so much time worrying about drugs in athletes, how about we stop handing out free drug money to the masses? Easy fix, you fail, you get no welfare or food stamps. Simple solutions like this would go an aweful long way to "spreading the wealth" to those who truly need it.

A woman other than Hillary that can hold the feminist banner and still aspire to conservative values. No wonder people are trying to tare Sarah down. Which would you rather? A president being tutored by the vice-president or a vice-president being tutored by the president? Easy choice when you put it in those terms!

Those of us who have gone through the times when women did not have access to birth control or the choice to continue a pregnancy or not, when women's career choices were nurse, teacher, secretary or mother, know that she is anything BUT a feminist. Banning books, abstinence only sex education, banning abortion - these are NOT feminist ideas. They are narrow-minded and sexist ideas.

But when it comes to abortion, you made your choice when you had sex. ABORTION IS MURDER. Let's ask the baby and see if it chooses to live or die. Life begins at conception. Or do you believe it begins at birth? Yet a few cells found on Mars and they would say, "We've found life on Mars!!!" Well, maybe those cells are surviving on their own - thus the difference between them and the unborn baby. So if surviving on their own is the litmus test, then abortion should be legal until the baby is, what, maybe 3-4 years old? Please. Life = alive = living. One living cell is life. So life begins at conception and abortion is murder. Roe v Wade should never have been passed - overturning will simply take us to where we should have been all along.

They can only rarely live on their own at 5 or 6 months, and only then with the best medical care. So by your own reasoning, that should be the minimum age at which it could be considered living. Also, if it is murder to kill a single living cell, I guess we should stop buying antibacterial soap!

It probably will not be a decision that I would make for myself but I think that the decision lies with the woman, her doctor, husband or boyfriend, and and her God. I don't think the government should have any say with what we do with our own bodies and as for the moral aspect we all have a conscience and if you are a person of faith we all will be judged by God for our decisions and no other.

Yes, let's ask the baby what they think... are you serious?? If you are against abortion, fine. If not, fine. Don't force your views on anyone else. It is amazing to me that for one young person(or any woman for that matter) who gets pregnant and decides to keep the baby. it is a private matter, but if it's the other way around people outside of the relationship or family feel they have to "save" the the potential mother from themselves. Judgement will come from God when we all die if that is what you believe in... NOT YOU - you won't be invited. If you don't believe in God, then the argument is a mute point.

He has battled lobbyists he has fought against democrat big government and the republican agenda when he felt it was wrong. For years the media has praised him for being a maverick but now they are trying to paint him as a lockstep Bush Republican which just couldn't be farther from the truth.

Well at one time McCain WAS a maverick, but you are dead wrong about him always being a maverick. Ever since the 2000 primary season when GWB and his replublican attack dogs ripped him to shreds for being a maverick he has become a republican conformist. Yes he has spoken out at times against the establishment but in large part he has conformed and now claims to be a "true conservative Republican" while trying to claim to be a maverick at the same time. Typical republican double-speak. Not what us moderates want to hear and certainly not what liberals want to hear.

Barack Obama indeed may be a liberal but he also listens to arguments from all sides and is willing to change his stance if a better argument is presented to him. THAT takes real courage in this day and age where any change in position is decried as a flip-flop.

                                                                                          {"commentId":2779137,"threadId":"350045","contentId":"1830383","authorDomain":"sdredfern"}

He is embellishing what he is actually going to do. And if he gets in office, you'll find that out soon enough.Taxing the so-called wealthy to implement all his programs is not going to solve your problems. Whatever extra money you do receive is not going to be invested or try to begin accumulating wealth. Its going to buy the new ipod or big screen TV, or a new car.

BTW most people that are wealthy in the US came from very modest means and did it by working their a%# off, instead of spending time crying about why they can't get ahead.

Obama would have you believe that the wealthy got that way because money was given to them.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone but sometimes the truth hurts.

Until you realize that YOU are in charge of your own fate and not the government, you will be in the same place 8 years from now, no matter who is in office.

Oh yeah but I will be able to choose my health plan. I do that now and it does not make a difference in which health plan I select. But under Mccain I wont be able to afford any of them.

By the way, it looks like a tumor on his face, he is 72, so it looks like Pailn will be president soon if they are elected. Then we will will really be in trouble. But then again, she is only used as a pon to get elected. We need to find out who is in John Mccains pocket to lead if he should get too sick to lead. Because we know it wont be Palin.

McCain is the man for what job, exactly? His policies are in line with Mr. Bush's...you cannot say with good conscience that Bush's performance in office these last eight years has qualified HIM to be the man for the job, and he HAS the job!

How stupid do they think we are? For the past 18 months Obama has been framing his whole campaign on "change" and because it's been successfully resonating with the electorate, McCain has co-opted it. But in reality almost ALL of the Repubs platforms are a seamless continuation of the failed Bush/Cheney policies. Putting the Democrats in the White House instead of the same old Republicans - now that's a change you can really count on!

Stupid enough to put George Bush in the White House not just once but twice!! And that is not only pretty stupid but also very scary... I just read a comment on here by someone stating that the Republicans were the only party that could reduce the size of the Government. That guy either doesn't know or is pretending that he doesn't know that under the Republicans the Government has become bigger than it has ever been! When George Bush Jr. took Office there was a Surplus of Tax Revenue, has anyone bothered to notice how many Trillions of dollars he has added to the National Debt?

I'm not sure how this has happened but I'm thinking there should be some kind of test required before people are allowed to Vote to ensure that they understand the Issues and have some kind of grip on reality because from what I've seen these last two Presidential Elections convinces me that there is some serious mental health and lack of Common Sense problems in this Country. Or the Republicans are Hell bent on completely destroying this Country. Terrorism is not Americas greatest threat the Republicans are.

                                                                                                God help us!

The one (and only) thing McSame had going for him was his distrust of the religious right. Now he's in bed with them (ewww, sorry, bad image!) She's a Pentacostal. You have to do a little research to know why that might be a scary religious perspective in the White House.

I mean come on, a stae twice the size of Texas, yet less population than the Texas Capitol? (Austin). Austin isn't even a big city. Her experience is that of governing a state with a population density of one person per square mile.

It's really hypocritical that the McCain campaign has been bashing Obama for his lack of experience for months, but put a person with less experience in governing than any mayor in any major city in the country a heartbeat away? I would rather have Biden be in that spot, honestly, he would be the Dem. nominee if a black man and a woman weren't in the race in the Dem party. Biden is more qualifed then everybody that even ran for the Rep. nomination put together.

She certainly doesn't represent me and her speech was full of factual misrepresentations. Some things were outright lies and others were gross exaggerations, like the gas pipeline for example. She sounds like the pipeline is a done deal and the gas will be flowing next week, when in fact if we're lucky it will be ten years if ever! Being a bully does not get the job done. We need real change in the direction this country is headed, and unfortunately the Republicans just didn't persuade me they are up to it. Personally I wish we had better choices all around.

I keep asking myself how in a nation this size, a nation with an intelligent, educated, knowledgeable, talented, clear-thinking, insightful, hard-working, rational, caring, ethical, and strong enough to make tough decisions pool of individuals, we can't get them to run for office? In all my years of voting, I have more often voted against a candidate than for one. Am I being too picky?

He explained HOW and WHY he would make changes and where the money would come from. I'm not exactly sure what some of you want. He GIVES policies in detail and I keep hearing 'only talk with no substance!' what is he supposed to do, write out a 1000 page book with in depth detail of each policy and change he will bring and personally hand it to you with a 5 hour long detailed explanation of each book (remember - there are MANY changes he will be making)? I just don't get it - are some of you just not listening?

McCain-Palin--------the only way change will come to Washington D.C. Obama is more governemnt, more taxes, more-more-more. I for one cannot afford to have him in the White House.

His relationships with Rev. Wright, Ayers, Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick bring out a judgment error that I do not believe he is going to be able to distance himself from.

John McCain and Sarah Palin will bring the honest, upright change to Washington and I support them 100 percent.

Being from the Detroit area, I would love to hear this one, and even if there is some unholy shallow link, please tell me how Kwame having an affair with his staff member has any associating with Obama. I will enjoy this one. Not to mention, I would think that Obama has done a great job at distancing himself from Ayers and Wright. If we want to get into associations I would love to open the gate as McCain has plenty of his own.

When GWB took office we had a budget surplus, no war, 22 million new jobs were created under Clinton and gas was 1.25 a gallon. You honestly think keeping the Republicans in is going to make things better? The Republicans don't tax you, they hack your bank account and take money out the back door by borrowing it from foreign nations like Japan, China, Russia, and the UAE. So American's THINK they have lowered the taxes, when in reality all they have done is postpone your paying them and to add insult to injury you will have to pay interest on the taxes too!!!. Educate yourself my friend. Don't listen to any speeches from Obama, McCain, Joe Biden, Sarah Palin, The talk shows or me either. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. stop using the internet just for porn and to post ignorance.
