I was going to vote for Obama but the more I realize he is just all talk and wants to increase taxes on everything, I thought no way. His plan to increase taxes on people making more than 250k(couples) which means singles making more than $125k is just stupid. The middle and lower income class people will be losing jobs because employers are forced to pay higher payroll taxes, increased minimum wage, higher health insurance rates and the worst they will pay higher income taxes. I promise you as a small business owner myself you will feel the trickle down effect. If I have to lose a chunk of my income because of my hard work and success, I will have no choice but cut 1/3(35 employees) of my work force. Today I am going to change my voting registration card to Independent from Democrat. For those of you worried about Roe VS. Wade being over turned, this has never happened under a Republican, just a Democrat scare tactic. Sorry but the upper middle class and the rich should not be penalized because of success. It's called the "AMERICAN DREAM". Isn't that what we all want?

You are a self-centered, "Me-First" dreamer. Obama promises tax cuts for 95% of middle class Americans, adn tax cuts for those business that don't outsource. The people you will be laying-off will go to work rebuilding infra-structure and renewable sources of energy. With Obama there will be more jobs, NOT less! By the way, how many houses do you own??

When are people going to wake up about this taxes issue? I don't care if you tax the top or bottom, we ALL end up paying either way. The issue at hand is to stop the wasteful spending--which BOTH parties do. And if people are really honest about it, they think those earmarks are just fine--as long as its coming to their community. You never hear anyone saying "no" to the millions that they just recieved. The President really has very little to do with it, look to your wonderful Congress with people that have been there for DECADES!

      Angela,
Actually you are correct, it is couples making more than 250,000 but it would be singles making more than 200,000.(According to Obama Aides) CNNMoney.com actually has some interesting factual comparisons to both Obama and McCain...NO offense MSNBC! Obama is also trying to protect the small business owners because he doesn't want to see your hard earned money go to waste either. Obama and McCain's tax proposals are not a whole lot different unless you are in the middle or lower income class, then you will save more. If you want to Vote for McCain then I respect that, however I just want to make sure that you have your facts correct before you make any decision at all.

We had higher taxes under Clinton and and the economy grew and flourished! Bush cut taxes, took us to war and jobs shipped overseas big time. McCain's policies are no different to Bush's. So that brings us to democrat or republican? seems like the democrats really know how to run the country.

Selfish people like you are the reason why the trickle down economics don't work. You promise your employees will feel the trickle down effect when it cuts into your wages but do you return excess profits to your employees when you get those tax breaks. After reading your statement I don't believe you have even bothered to do any research on either candidates full plans. Watching the DNC and RNC on your local news station does not constitute research btw. Your comment about Obama wanting to raise taxes on "everything" sounds like regurgitated propaganda from a McCain attack add. You are right about one thing though, the rich should not be penalized for being successful. On the flip, the middle class and impoverished shouldn't be punished by losing a higher percentage of their wage to taxes. Taxes should be closer to the same for everyone. Unfortunately only the truly rich can afford to send lobbyist to Washington to "fight' for their cause. The rest of us have to hope we'll get a chance to vote someone into office that will fight for us!

Angela, I agree with your opinion in theory, but the reality is that folks that make what YOU pay them, are not able to pay more taxes. The USA has too much debt burden and somebody has to pay the piper. Those people you said you would have to put out of work to maintain your 250k earnings, you are probably doing them a favor by letting them go as opposed to working for someone who thinks that the bottom line (GREED) is more important than living in a Nation where you are free to make choices (like firing 35 workers)

Angela, as a small business owner myself I am not worried about employees because as a new startup I do not have any, but what I do worry about is not having customers to purchase my services and as of last month, I did not have any of the either because they can no longer afford my services! With 65% of Americans having to deal with mental problems which in my view stem directly in the majority of cases from long-term stress, fear and lack of finances, I can tell you that we are in for a very rough ride, tougher than ever if McCain and Paline are elected. Palin voted for cuts in disability funding so if she were a single mother or not as well connected, she would be trying to find services and programs to help her with her baby who has down syndrome, like I had to fight everyone for my two sons who were only legally blind at birth! How can someone who is saying they are a champion for the disabled ever vote for cutbacks in a program that has not been fully funded, if that were possible, since the Clinton Administration? See, if you walked in others shoes you would see both sides of the coin and be able to determine what a better choice would be and many might feel it is the lesser of two evils but Obama is the lesser if you will. Research how his plans will actually affect you and your own situation overall, because you will not have employees either if you have no customers. Just a thought in reading your post.

I am curious what kind of Doctor you are? My husband is a Radiologist and is very concerned with Obama's plan. Have you ever been to Kaiser Permante(sp) or heard about it? It's a big HMO hospital chain with politicians controlling it. They offer the worst care in California possible. A couple of his colleagues that work there as Radiologist always shake there head when they have to blow through reads because Kaiser wants them read-out asap leaving many holes in the reports. They are looking to work in private imaging clinics because they feel Kaiser does not care about the quality and there patients. They get very low reimbursements and are overwhelmed by illegal immigrants taking full advantage of there free healthcare. The taxpayers flip the bill. California is a Democrat run state and has one of the biggest deficits around. You can't blame the Governor for that, just like you cannot blame the President. They have very little control on the economy. Congress is the one that sets the rules. Since the Democrats took the largest control of Congress ever, they have the lowest approval rating EVER. Don't elect people just because they are in your party, elect people that have history of making real changes. Clinton came into the best economy, so don't use the Clinton era. I was a political science major and have a doctorate in business, so I know how Obama's tax plan works. He want's to tax the dead, put capitol gains tax @28% on any profit you make on your home. 39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.')

          Single making 30K - tax $8,400
          Single making 50K - tax $14,000
          Single making 75K - tax $23,250
          Married making 60K - tax $16,800
          Married making 75K - tax $21,000
          Married making 125K - tax $38,750
Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!
          Restore the inheritance tax:
Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

I would rather take the tax breaks away from weahlty companies. Sure that may be some trickle down affects, but doing it Obama's way would let those companies who are actualy worried about keeping their company and jobs that they have in the US keep tax breaks. If a company is worried about losing tax breaks, its apparent that they are more worried about their bottom line, and not the employees who have made them what they are. If we continue on the path that we are on, all the good jobs will be in China, because of the lower labor prices. We need to face facts that The Us economy is no longer goods based, but consumer based, this needs to change. There is a good show that explains all this, "The peoples republic of capitalism", hosted by ted copple. Every american should watch this, and then they would know why we need to quit giving tax breaks to compaines that move out of the country as soon as those abatements have expired.

Angela, your numbers seem majorly skewed. Re-institution of the inheritance tax?? Please!!

Inheritance tax or "death tax" is such a joke. Personally I'm not concerned with this because I don't believe my estate will EVER fall in that bracket. My estate would have to be worth over $2million before it would it would be taxed.

The "death tax" is a republican scare issue for middle and lower income Americans. And if its over $2mil there are so many loopholes its rare that it ever gets levied.

Obama/Biden presents the real "Change" label with NO uncertainty.

McCain/Palin: Same old republican presidential candidate pitch from John. Sarah's story? ....it's now evident it is FULL of holes. Her judgement, not to mention John's on his Palin pick, has no place or should have any position in the whitehouse to govern and secure this country in its present state.

By nominating Sarah Palin as his VP, McCain has shown poor judgment for two obvious reasons:

              1) He is 72 years old, has health problems going back from his POW years in Nam about which he likes to talk so much, and has had 3 or 4 bouts with malignant cancer. His longevity is very dubious at this point.

              2) He is a gambler and that's fine if it only hurts him. But to gamble with the life and future of my children and grandchildren and with the 350 milion people or so that make up this Nation of ours by leaving us all of a sudden with an unprepared and unqualified President is totally irresponsible to say the least.

My assumption is that he thinks that just because he has survived so many times in the past, he is immortal!

Obama will be the real gamble. He and his wife are nothing more than lawyers. They are without real substance. Look at his record. He has been in the Senate for 4 years now and has missed more than 80% of the votes since Jan '07. He has had his sights on the White House since he was sworn into office. He is only there to further his political career.

Look at Michelle's speach again - She was nothing more than a lawyer presenting her case to a jury.

While you may think he is 72 and not fit, think again. He has been through a lot and survived. He is tough and will go the distance. His mom is 96 and still going strong. That alone should say something to you.

FYI: This is what McCain wrote in his memoir, and I quote:

"I didn't decide to run for president to start a national crusade for the political reforms I believed in or to run a campaign as if it were some grand act of patriotism. In truth, I wanted to be president because it had become my ambition to be president. . . . In truth, I'd had the ambition for a long time."

Of course, McCain's self-confessed "ambition to be president" isn't part of any media analysis when it comes to his own attacks against Obama on the same issue.

In fact, it's remarkable how few people even know that McCain wrote those words in his book "Worth the Fighting For." I had no idea until a month or two ago when a reader dropped them into a comment in a blog post. I was startled given how often McCain had been blasting Obama for suggesting he had (gasp) those same feelings.

For all you people who cite his mother as 96/94 (I've heard both ages) as evidence of McCain being perfectly able to be president despite his age... I find it ironic that you never mention the fact that his father died at the age of 70. Frankly women generally live longer than men anyway so it's not like McCain is guaranteed long life just b/c his mother has reached the age she has. Plus, she was never a POW or looking at the incredibly stressful job of President.

If McCain becomes Pres, there is an incredibly high chance that Palin will either become Pres before 2012 or will be acting Pres when McCain has health problems. The idea of that woman anywhere near the White House terrifies me.

Ace 2010- Yes his mother is 96 and that may say something to his longevity and if he gets in office I hope it does because Palin as president scares me much more!

But his father died at the age of 70 which may say something too. Especially since men overall are not as long-lived as women.

My vote didnt change, my opinion of the RNC just got worse and I was sickened to see the camera focus in on the few token blacks as the convention. That convention DID NOT represent America or Americans. It only explained to me what the GOP means - Good Old white People because that is all I saw - oh wait they did show this Asian lady a lot............The RNC lambasted the airways with inexperience on Obamas end and his whole Change platform and then they flip it and choose Palin and use the Change platform to push their agenda and decide to give her some classe on foreign policy because she is a quick study........Palin is Plainly not the best choice and in my opinion needs to take care of her household before trying to assist McEon with running this country..........I am sure she is good at what she does but punchlines and pitbull/lipstick comparisons is not going to lower gas prices or help the economy........Take care of your teen aged daughter who is being forced to get married - then think about working on the White House.........no sex-ed indeed.......

I AGREE WITH YOU. I WONDER HOW THE SMALL AMOUNT OF BLACK PEOPLE WERE TREATED THERE. THEY MUST BE OVER MCCAIN RICH LEVEL OF $5 MILLION OR MORE BECAUSE ALL THE REST OF US ARE CONSIDER MIDDLE CLASS/OR POOR. MCCAIN SAID NOTHING LAST NIGHT ABOUT THE ECONOMY AND HOW HE THE "MAVERICK", WAS GOING TO FIX IT. HE SAID TO ME MUCH OF NOTHING. THE TIDE IS TURNING AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS GREAT COUNTRY WANT A MAJOR CHANGE, NOT JUST A LITTLE CHANGE (HE JUST DOESN'T GET IT.") PALIN CAME FROM OUT OF THE BLUES, SHE MUST GO BACK. I LIKE HILARY UNTIL SHE GOT NASTY ON OBAMA. I STILL LIKE HER-SHE'S IS A LADY OF QUALITIES, MUST BETTER THEN PALIN, I CAN'T STAND HER VOICE. ESPECIALLY IN THE WHITE HOUSE TELLING MCCAIN WHAT TO DO. I FEEL SORRY FOR HER FAMILY. THIS IS A CLASS 1 STAGE ACT, I HAVE 2 SONS AND 1 GRANDBABY(WEDLOCK) I AM NOT FORCING MY SON TO AN EARLY MARRIAGE.tHAT'S A JOB ALL BY ITSELF. I am white and I didn't say the camera only focused in on the blacks at Democratic convention. I am so sick of hearing this. This election is not about color or race. Is
one of the most important things you are thinking about. Michelle Obama looked angry
whenever the camera focused on her or afraid of what the Clinton's were going to say.
Talk about body language. If you would have done some research you would have
found out the Sarah Palin's daughter was planning on getting married prior to her selection.
As far as sex education. It is important. I choose to encourage my son about abstinence.
So far he has went this route. This is politics both sides attack each other get used to it
                and quit whining.

I do not disagree with you that abstinence is not important, or that sex education isnt important, but what i do want to argue is that while Palin preaches abstinence , while taking the sex education out of schools. As a parent I can teach my children things about sex, but i am by far no expert, i would rather them learn about sex and birth control methods from some one with more credentials than I do. If you want to reinforce sex education, you need to make it available.

I'm voting Republican. It's interesting to read the comments here. Obama really has no experience running even a state, and he could be put in as President of our great country. That is just absurd. Would a major corporation hire someone with no successful business experience, running a company at all, to be CEO... never. How many states have a surplus, besides Alaska... I know that California has a huge deficit. How many politicians have the guts to cut out all the fluff, to keep money in the peoples pockets, such as Palin.

He may be older, but obviously by not taking the safe choice for VP, he is looking for change. If you were having heart surgery, you'd want someone with lots of experience to be your surgeon.

It wouldn't be a political campaign without mud slinging, but with every negative, there is a positive.

Anyways, I am confident that McCain Palin will win. THEY, represent, all different demographic of our population, and not just for the rich, if you listened to the speeches, you'd see that.

This is a historic election, either way.

IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN THERE WERE QUITE A FEW PRESIDENTS THAT DID NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE. THE COUNTRY IS MOVING FORWARD NOT BACKWARD. YOU NEED TO REALIZE THAT. I DON'T WANT THE STUFF MCCAIN & PALIN IS OFFERING. YOU WOULD HAVE HAD A FIELD DAY IF OB AMA PULL THAT KIND OF MESS, ALL OF YOU. YET YOU WANT A PRESIDENT THAT'S NOT THINKING ABOUT OUR COUNTRY BEING FIRST BUT HIS BEHIND BEING IN THE WHITE HOUSE. I LIKE HILARY UNTIL SHE WENT NASTY(NEGATIVE) ON OBAMA. BUT SHE STILL IS THE TYPE OF LADY THAT CAN BE GOOD FOR OUR COUNTRY. PALIN IS NOT, SHOWS LACK OF JUDGEMENT TO ME OF WHICH HE COMPLAIN ABOUT OBAMA TO ME. As Obama stated, I heard alot about Obama, but did not hear anything about how McCain plans to change anything other than drill baby drill. Does anyone realize how long it will take to make a dent in the gas prices? So what is the choices 1) Focus our attention to alternatives to oil, or 2) Drill for more of the same thing that got us into the situation we are in.

If "THEY" as you put it, "represent all different demograpic of our population" then why was the majority of the crowd old white people? If their message appealed to the diverse group of people they supposedly represent don't you think they'd attract a more diverse crowd?

Are you seriously trying to make something out of Alaska's surplus? How many states have the kind of income Alaska has with that low of a population.

And why is it everyone is trying to compare the job of President of the United States of America to jobs like surgeon or CEO. There is no comparison. Both the jobs of Governor of a state and serving in the senate or congress can give you familiarity with the way government operates, but the job of President will be unlike anything these candidates have experienced before. No one can be 100% prepared and experienced in all aspects of the presidency.

Why is it that you are saying that being a community advocate and activist for over twenty years and state senator for several years in a large state like Illinois does not count for anything, yet McCain and Palin ask our children to volunteer for the military? Community organizers volunteer to do that! McCain asked people to volunteer to help evacuees and then his wife parades out on the stage with a $300,000 dress on! You and the republicans negate anything that anyone has done as a volunteer or paid for their community! What have you done for your community? Probably nothing becuase if you had you would understand that without volunteers no non-profit program in this country would work! They do not pay organizers a lot unless they were working to campaign for a Presidental Candidate and when you think of McCain taking public funds for the campaign and his wife has a dress that costs more than most of our single family dwellings is hard to overlook to those who truly understand that without grass roots organizing like Obama has done and done brilliantly, there would have been no American Revolution, No Boston Tea Party, No Constitution or Bill of Rights because they were not experienced as lawmakers and we would be saluting the Queen of England right about now! I suppose the founding fathers and Paul Revere would be villifed today as not having any experience too, but only strong feelings about the need for change while they cowered in a corner instead of going out into their communities spreading the message and demanding change for their neighbors!

I did listen to the RNC speeches. They put down people who work hard for their communities. Are you aware that people who work to build homes are community organizers. They go out and organize people and build these homes for people who can't afford to buy one. But your party says these people are worthless, I wonder how many other professions they look down on?! I guess if they look down on community organizers then they must look down on janitors, waitresses, construction workers, and social workers. And lets not forget these people who look down on us for our hard work are the very people who have created this mess in this country where it has become necessary for community organizers to help the people they have screwed for the past 8 years.

                        You are an idiot!

                          Christy-

15 of our presidents had no experience in the executive branch (mayor, governor, VP, etc.) including Washington, Madison, J.Q. Adams, Jackson, Lincoln, Eisenhower and Kennedy. They all met the challenges of office. So what's your point?

Also 9 other presidents only had executive experience through the VP and 4 of them assumed the presidency after a death or resignation. So that's 24 of the 43 presidents so far with no experience in the executive branch prior to the election that put them in office(except Ford who was appointed). Again what's your point?

What a perfect name for you. Isn't your argument a little weak? Especially seeing as GWB has been going after everyone including the rabbit in his backyard? The man and his rusty sidekick have had a good go at it for 8 years. Wars started for reasons later retracted, the national debt past above our ears. What more can you ask for? Let's see, there's Iran, Pakistan, and now Russia. Who in the heck do you think has been suffering because of all this?

Guess what buddy. My mother, who worked hard all of her life and cannot find a suitable doctor or suitable housing.

Why is Hillary good for her party and Palin is not?

Are you serious? Have you even looked past the fact that Palin is a woman (which by the way, is where the similarities between Palin and Hilary end) and looked at what she actually STANDS for? She's a right wing extremist who wants to overturn Roe v Wade, will do anything to keep the oil flowing in her state (including suing the Bush administration over putting polar bears on the endangered species list!) and even inquired about banning BOOKS in her hometown that she found questionable. A woman that has no problem shoving her pregnant CHILD into the international spotlight but has a problem with talking about sex ed in schools does NOT get my vote.

WAKE UP and look past her "charm". Otherwise - I agree with "Not Fooled By Distractions" - you deserve Palin, Ms. Bobbitt

Who forced her 17 year old daughter into the spotlight? Right wing liberal media. And do you truly think one woman can change Roe vs. Wade? And by the way, abortion isnt the issue it is a symptom of the issue which is no morals and ethics. Morals and ethics is something that Palin has shown she has time and again. And 80% approval in her state is nothing to scoff at. Who can you say can boast those kinds of numbers. When we as a people finally take responsibility for our own actions and step up we will always wine and cry about our lot in life. The government isnt there to powder your ass and make it all better, that is your job. Sarah Palin didnt like the way her home town was run so she did something about it. She didnt like the way Alaska was run so she did something about it. As I said, if 80% of the people in Alaska approve of her then she is obviously doing the right thing.

Sarah Palin pushed her daughter into the spotlight. People are curious, however it was Palin who decided to "out" her daughter. She's the disgusting, selfish, self-rightous person who did this to her own daughter. Now poor Bristol will be marrying the baby's daddy, a high school drop out......my god, how low can you get? Bill Clinton said it best during the primary "If you can't stand the heat - get out of the kitchen." It is wrong for the Fox News crowd to beat up on the main stream press about Gov. Palin when the Press only reported the news and retractions they uncovered. We've had 19 long months right or wrong, good or bad to vet Sen. Obama and Sen McCain. Now they're keeping her off the news circuit. How do we get to know this person if she won't come forth and present her views on things that matter to the American people.

Just because you have a son going to Iraq doesn't make you an expert. I have two sons there and lost three family members - so I expect to hear and know more from my politicians. And we Americans have to let the chips fall where they may on both sides. I want substance more than style. I want real solutions when I wake up and see 80K more Americans are out of work and what are we going to do to get these people and this country moving again.

                              Answers=Solutions.....

John McCain's service to his country is unquestioned. However, it must be remembered that Sen. McCain enlisted for an unpopular war in the 1960's, and seems to be running true to form four decades hence. There was nothing in the speeches and presentations from Minnesota this week to indicate McCain understands the challenges of fighting a war against terrorists who have a mobile base of operations. Such an enemy lacks the hard targets of his traditional war-college mindset. Neither, for all his experience in the Senate, does he appear to understand the nuances of international diplomacy. He instead supports "finishing" the war that George W. Bush started in Iraq. What is also lacking in all the rhetoric of the past few days is the answer to a question that has been repeatedly ignored by supporters of the misadventure in Iraq: what constitutes "victory?"

You pose an extremely valid question I have also been asking over the last few months.

It's a talking point for Republicans to scoff at Democrats for wanting to withdrawal our troops from a country that we should have never gone into in the first place, wielding the weapon of "righteousness" with an astounding lack of strategy, and most important, an illegitimate claim of WMDs.

They claim the surge is working, as if the logic of sending more and more troops over there to stifle their civil war is going to achieve anything unless we can maintain that same military presence for as long as it's in our best interest to keep the violence down as much as is possible.

Yet I have never heard once what an actual victory in Iraq means to Republicans. How many of our troops need to police this country, while we strategically ignore the countries where the real terrorists are, and while we lack security of our own borders?

Do these ignorant, self-indulgent, out-of-touch-with-reality right wingers really believe that, after thousands of years of religious wars, sending American troops over there to fight and die and police their streets will put an end to it? Anymore than if someone tried to stay our Civil War would have been successful?

I would like to know an exact definition of "victory" in Iraq. Usually a war is fought against something, and victory is declared when that something is "defeated". We are NOT fighting terrorists in Iraq; we are getting between the fighting that was already going on in a more toned-down level under Saddam, escalating it, and sending our troops into harms way, into a country that poses NO THREAT to our borders.

Sarah Palin is a great partner for McCain. Is fresh, new ideas, strong. WHO SAID THAT McCain is going to die or is dying? Who said that Biden will be available and ready IF Obama dies? For God sakes, can you people be more supportive and positive. The election of Sarah Palin if for this generation, for our generation. We need new blood in the White House, mother who understands exactly what every mother in this nation is going through with their kids : i.e.: kids w/ special needs, teenagers, teen pregnancy, how to handle a big family, how to be a good parent, how to work with your spouse and stay together as a family. SHE HAS IT ALL. PLUS!!! She is very intelligent to pick up quickly everything she needs to learn in the near future about her job. HOW ABOUT THAT.

Barack Obama, does not have the experience McCain has. Does not have that "thing", that CARISMA McCain has. Obama is not Bill Clinton. The era of Bill Clinton was special and exceptional. And maybe someday, somebody will come again and be a Bill Clinton. With his charme and carisma and "now how" negotiation powers. But Barack does not have it. And I think that if Barack becomes President, Biden will be doing all the work. Bliden has more carisma and nows how to reach people more that Barack.

You speak as if you know Barack, do you? If not, why do you believe that McCain can do more internationally when no one wants the Republican guard back in office overseas. People in other countries are afraid of the Republicans occupying their countries and evidently they have a point and Georgia is next! The ruskies know that they can become a world power again with these warmongers, so they are working on that agenda now! With McCain, we will not only have a war in Iraq, we will have a war in Iran, in Afghanistant, Pakistan, the Balkins, and Russia, to be victorious we will have to nuke all these countries before they nuked us, not good foreign policy in my book but it has been done before, just ask the Japanese! Good for you. I'm glad someone else remembers. More saber rattling for oil, is grinding me raw. Our current leadership, is like an obnoxious drunk in a global bar.
And now, wants to pick another fight.

We have been at war for 7 years, on multiple fronts.
I am war weary. It is time to stop.

I think it was Socrates that said:

Once you turn your eyes from yourself.., the world becomes yours.

                                          (or something like that)

                                          I say, let's give it a try.

How Mr. Obama is received globally, is a breath of fresh air.
It's something I haven't felt like we've been able to do as Americans, in a good long while.
It feels good to be welcome and respected, again.

To the rest of the world, I say -

May Brotherly and Sisterly love prevail, and harmony dwell between us.

O.k., 10 O:clock. I gotta go to bed. I had the day off today, and got to watch this blob all day.
My first time. There were 1047 (or something) comments when I joined this morning. Now there are 18 -20 thousand viewpoints, feelings, and opinions. Most of it pretty positive, respectful, and intelligent. It has been a clean, spirited, comment forum. It was fun to spend the day with people from around the country and the world. Loved the concepts from homeowner in Sweden. Thanks for the 'wider view'.

News flash whitebird. South Ossetia is part of Georgia; North Ossetia is part of Russia. Russia invaded South Ossetia to "protect" the Ossetians from Georgia since they wanted to secede and join Russia. The Georgians, of course, tried to put down the separatists and that's when Russia invaded. So, it would be more like if one of the states wanted to secede and join a different country than if someone invaded Canada.

Do try to get your facts straight. A simple google search of "Georgia, South Ossetia" should get you some reliable results.

Obama promises help for children with special needs as well as all children by recruiting an army of qualified teachers that will be more than grorified babysitters, which is what they are now. He wants everybody to have a chance at education and teacher's pay will go up when he is the President. My daughter in law is a special ed teacher and she agrees with me on this point. Fresh blood in the White House does nothing for the issues. We are talking personality here and we are not electing a beauty qeen. This is not American Idol. This is a Presidential Election!! McCain (clueless) and Palin (fascist) are the worst possible result for the future of America. If elected they will turn this country into a police state and personal liberty will be completely gone. I hope Americans can look past skin color and see the danger we face if we do not elect Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

Skin color has nothing to do with my choice, it has to do with who I feel will be the best choice to lead this country. Had Colin Powel run I would have voted for him in an instant. Obama has done nothing to prove he has what it takes to run this country. Palin has proven she has the courage to face extreme opposition and make change. That woman has courage and fortitude. Not to mention ethics and honor. All you have to do is learn about what she has done in Alaska for as long as she has held public office and you will see she is all about change. This is a cruel world we live in and discussing differences over tea isnt going to cut it when it comes to countries like Iran and groups like Al Queda. It takes a person that will make the hard choices and accept the mud when people disagree with that choice. As for change, just look back to the "Contract with America" that the Republicans had a few years back. They lowered taxes for everyone and the economy was cruising along great. Only when we tax the rich and corporations do we hurt the economy. It takes people with money to invest to create jobs. If we punish those that earn more money then all we do is hurt the economy because they will just put it where taxes wont take it or move their operations overseas. Why do you think that so many companies have taken their operations overseas? Because in many countries there is no or little corporate tax thus a company is more profitable. You cant redistribute wealth by taxing those that have money and give it to those that dont. It has never worked and never will. With Obama, Biden and the Clintons, you will lose more and more of your liberties like gun ownership and pay more and more in taxes to fund their social programs. More taxes on corporations will in turn destroy more jobs. More taxes on the rich will reduce investments that keep the economy humming. Wake up people, its an easy choice.

Sarah Palin? Ethics and honor?!? Are you high? Have you taken the trouble to even look at her history? Or just intrigued by the way she delivers a hate filled speech written by a Bush aide? She supported the "Bridge To Nowhere" before it was ridiculed and when laughed at she backed away and let other take the flack for it. The money she requested to build the bride, $233 million FYI, she debated to have the money diverted from Hurricane Katrina recovery. I that Ethics? Also While she was in office, just this year in fact she sent a proposal for 31 earmarks totaling $197 million — more, per person, than any other state. An unprecedented amount to be sure... But just the other night at the RNC she spoke against the very earmarks which dominated her career as a politician.

And have you even heard of the Officer Wooten offences laid against her and being investigated right now? Honor? Ethics? I think not.... I do think you're high though...

Right-wingers are always parroting the don't-tax-the-corporations-too-much line saying it will force jobs overseas. Well, taxes were reduced an those types and jobs kept on going away at an ever-increasing rate. That argument is tired.

A corporation is not a person with a conscience. Giving them a tax break does not make them pause and think that maybe it's OK to keep jobs here after all. They will take that money and run.

                                                    Dusty,

Please tell us what Palin has done? She said that for Americans with special needs kids you will have a friend in Washington.....did she tell them that she cut 95% of financial support for special needs kids....she said that she faught against big oil...does she say that she has taken money from big oil...do you know that, do you know that her husband works for BP...she says that she was against the bridge to nowhere, do you know that she supported the bridge to nowhere got the money and kept it, then decided to be against it, do you know that she was also for the road to nowhere....do some research people...and quit acting like Obama/Biden won't keep this country safe. Fear...my goodness after 8 years you all are still fearful....so sad
