Palin does not support womens issues, she just happens to be a woman. The media is making this a fight between stay-at-home vs working mom

I don't believe you can use Palin as an example. She's not just a working mom - she's a Republican with the same "honor" as McCain

What does Palin have in common with "regular moms"? She is another Rebublican distotion of reality that they are packaging and marketing.

Palin is a poor role model. She has a dysfunctional family. If she can't run her family right, how can we expect her to run the county.

I think this argument distors the working mom vs. SAHM debate. Most- okay, NO "regular" working moms work or raise children (let alone five of them) under these types of conditions. You cannot compare Sarah Palin to the mom next door who juggles three kids and a full time job as a policewoman, teacher, doctor or even small town mayor! Sarah Palin is a poor example of a working mom- her children have been sacrificed, her daughter's past dragged trhough the mud, a newborn child with special needs practically ripped from his mother's arms. This is not normal- this is not about working moms vs. stay at home moms. This is about ALL moms vs. women who put their own needs fifty floors above the needs of their children. As mothers, working or not, we should all be saddened that this is what passes for a "debate about working mothers" which is akin to saying that the case of the mother who microwaved her infant is a "debate about spanking."

Why is it that Sara Palin can be all and end all? SHE cannot!!!!! Not alone, not without all of her "executive privilages". What most working moms today have to do is to pay high childcare costs, be housewife, mother, work outside the home and most moms work for less pay, hope for help with medical costs, stretch the money for food, who cannot hunt Moose. The Republicans fight against minimum wage, does not aid with needed childcare for working moms. Why should we expect this unknown woman to change this. Hockey MOM -No.........just another catch phrase the Rove Repulbicans use.

Stated like a true Marxist.... Take from the rich and give to the poor... "Robin Hood ?" I work for my money and have never go ta dime from the government. I don't expect it. Some people like to sit on their "behinds" and let the tax payers send them to college, pay for their meds after they get cancer from smoking (their choice).. AND supply them with food , clothing and a home.... I give to charities all the time, but I'll be d***ed, if I like giving to people that really can work........ Oh, and by-the-way..... were some of these working mothers pregnant before they got married, if they are ????? Go peddle your falsehoods to someone who cares.

I like some of Barak Obama's ideas. I like some of McCain's, too, but what's going to decide my vote in this election is that there are just five Justices on the Supreme Court who were willing to stand up and say the Bill of Rights means what it says. Two of those are recent appointees and two of the remaining three are getting kind of long in the tooth. I don't want the DNC to have the opportunity to appoint some ivy-league elitist who'll be legislating from the bench for the next forty years.

Pretty amazing to see all the politicizing of what is after all the choice of an individual woman who is apparently able to balance family and work pretty well. Why all the vitriol, girls? Can't walk and chew gum at the same time?

Real women, regardless of political affiliation or none at all, manage to balance career and family (if they choose both) in a way that works for them. And Sarah Palin most assuredly did not have an in-home nanny when she was Mayor. Now? I don't know, actually, but I do know that she doesn't have a driver or a personal chef and she sold the jet owned by the State of Alaska.

She's an impressive person. Male or female. No matter.

OMG...Insecure women....can't walk and chew gum at the same time...give me a break. Sarah Palin appears to support HER choices but no other women's choices. If she wants to take on all of this with her 5 kids in tow that is HER CHOICE and I support that as a women b/c I support CHOICE for ALL WOMEN. Hey if she can do this and love and care for all 5 of her kids more power to her. I find working with 2 very challenging but I'm just a mere average woman obviously she has super powers I'm unaware of.

What I find SO VERY amusing is how all you men, and I'm quite certain that many of you have bashed HIllary on this very subject can now stand in support of Sarah. Bill,

It is obviously a ploy to get votes and "Trig" (nice name) is being used as a prop much like the democrats using the roman columns at the DNC as she referred to in the her RNC speech that was written by Bush's main speech writer but she isn't tied to Bush? There was also a quote from her that Trig was her "statement" of being Pro-Life! He wasn't her child he was a STATEMENT! Wow! Nice mother there.

It will be great! Just think leave the hospital after your 24 hour stay, go straight to work where the crib is already waiting at your work station. We've come a long way, baby, back to the beginning.

Akred59, yes,I agree.Wake up men!Lust for Palin is wrong in every way. Women are seeing truth.Palin will take away everything that throughout the years women have fought far.She is not what she seems to many. Her friends at one time, not now, have written truth about her but the media as yet published this truth.Palin said yesterday about her children''I love my children and I know I will love Trig''She will !!? Have any of you women/men noticed it's her daughter that always carries Trig, not Palin or her husband.Open your eyes and see, listen to her words and Hopefully you will not be fooled, deceived. So far she has lied about everything.McCain needed her, they stand for the same. For all that like what we have had in our country, you aren't the middle income as myself.I want better for my grandchildren,I want to be able to have medical insurance,I need my s.s.( I depend on s.s. now)There will be a better life for us all with B.Obama.Let NOT our country be destroyed. Vote B. Obama and let's Save our great nation.

Good grief! Stop with all the personal Sarah Palin bashing (feel free to bash on issues and positions). I don't like her positions on the issues but I suspect that I would probably like her and her family personally. And I am absolutely happy to have a REPUBLICAN working mom in the spotlight. It helps all of us DEMOCRAT working moms who make difficult choices about raising our children and finding quantity as well as quality time with them. The fact that she has five children and one with special needs is not a disqualification from the vice-presidency. It's her views that I object to.

The reality is that it is probably far easier to juggle being Governor or V.P and be a parent than it is for moms and dads who work regular jobs. If you are Governor, you can bring your baby to work and you have a place where you can breastfeed. And as Governor of Alaska, Palin chose to work from her home 312 days out of the 20 months she has been in office and collect per diem while doing it (not to mention the government paying for her and her children's airfare to go back and forth). I wish I had that kind of job benefit where I work! When you are the boss, you can make the policies. The problem for most of us is that we can't take our children to work and don't have enough vacation or other paid leave to spend on things like taking the kids to the doctor, staying home with a sick child, or staying home with a newborn (since you can't take the baby to work).

Clearly, she is much more concerned with her own ego gratification then the well being of her 5 children. Her pregnant teenage daughter is a prime example of her parental neglect and failure to "balance it all". Some have asked abt Barack's ability to raise his daughters, if elected, but a huge difference btwn Barack raising 2 kids and Sarah's 5 kids...one of whom will require a lifetime of maternal nurturing as well as ongoing professional therapies. If Mrs. Palin truly loved her children, she'd place their well being well ahead of her own narcissistic cravings.

a barbi- Apparently you know nothing about a child with Downs Syndrome. Do you even know anybody with one? I do and still have no idea where you think they need ongoing professional therapies. If Trig has a mild form, he can be just like any other child expect he will have a slower learning ability. If he is severe, he would not even be out in public. And again with this being a bad parent because she has a teenage daughter who is pregnant. Pray tell how many of the voters out there who are so against Palin because of this do not have one or some one in the family doesn't have one or need I add HAD ONE as a teenager? It is a way of life in our society and totally acceptable. And don't you think that her decision to enter politics wasn't discussed with family? Were you and any of the others out here there when she made the decision? What is the difference between her going into politics which require long hours away from her family to conduct business than a woman who is a CEO of a large Corporation or a Lawyer who has very demanding hours? Where are their "good" parenting skills?

She could have been a stay at home mom who advocates birth control (pills or condoms), but in the heat of the moment, all that goes right out the window. C'mon now....

Although I do have to make comment about guns in Alaska, being an Alaskan. As an Alaskan, I wouldn't even go hiking/camping without one, having been charged by both Moose and Brown Bear. And yes, people hunt for food there. But my family's perspective differs GREATLY from Palin's on this issue. There should never be ANY "fun" in killing, even if it is for NEEDED food. Palins' family loves the "SPORT"...speaks volumes of her attitude. Such as people hunting if they don't need the food. Nor should they kill more than what is needed...someone should take a tally of her "trophies".

Mothers who go to Iraq to serve...serve nothing but the Beast in abandoning their children. Fighting in Iraq for oil is NOT fighting for my or my families "freedom". My Freedom comes through Christ and none other. I want my children to have a joyful and enriching life here on this earth. The Highest Job in the Land is God-gvien and that is to raise our children to Honor and Praise for the Lord God, to honor their mother and father, to live peacably among all men whenever possible, to recognize the difference of being in the world, but not of the world, to know and live by true charity to the needy...I could go on. Our values in this nation have become more than eskewed, and so we see the likes of Palin spewing out her lies and venom, while her new pet stands dazed and confused behind her, and throngs are applauding that?

"And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie...." They have no love of the truth and take pleasure in unrighteousness. And sadly, they will perish for it.

Rick in the Forest, maybe women are upset because most working mother can't take their kids with them to work with them like the govenor. She's her own boss and does as she pleases. Most women would love to take their kids to work after birth and breast feed them right there at their desk. Do you think you would like to see that. Come on.

I have to disagree with that. She is the governor of a very small population of people. Let her have to deal with some real issues. We are talking about the average working woman that are still wanting basic rights like equal pay and paid maternity leave. Sara needs to go home and take care of her kids. I will give Obama this - before he decided to run he and Michelle decided to make sure the children were protected. I have to respect them for that. You have to put your children first.

I love all the venom spewed forth about Gov. Palin's inability to be a successful mother as well as Vice President of our country. Where was all this venom when "Queen Hillary" was spending all of her energy promoting her womanizing husband's career? The feminists are bashing Gov. Palin for all the reasons they put Hillary on a pedestal. These same women will praise the dope taking, alcohol abusing women in Hollywood that give birth out of wedlock on a regular basis for exercising their right to do with their bodies as they see fit. They're held up as role models. As are the lesbians of Hollywood that adopt children. What a double standard. I don't put much stock in the opinions of people that akin celebrities to "heroes" anyway. The Palins appear to be just like most American families. Not perfect but caring, loving and trying to enjoy life as best the can. How many of the people criticizing them actually know anything except what they read/hear from the liberal leftists?? There's always three sides to every story folks; A, B and THE TRUTH. Only God knows the real truth !!! Let's all just deal with the facts & leave the mud slinging to the professionals, the news media !!!!!

When a man is elected to office, his wife is assumed to take over all household/child rearing duties. Why can't the same be assumed if/when a woman is elected to office? Please don't tell me we are still in the dark ages of a man not being able to properly care for his own children - special needs or not. Single women do it all the time - while working full time - with no hired help. I don't know what the Palin's current situation is, but I assume there are some household help type perks for the V.P. As for her not being able to manage her own family, I couldn't even list all the children of male politicians that have not only screwed up morally, but run afoul of the law.
I will likely be voting for Obama, but I wouldn't mind my daughter seeing a woman in the 2nd highest position. After discussing Hillary's candidacy earlier this year and noting the fact that there has never been a woman president, my 6 year old states flatly 'that's stupid'. Discourage her politics, but don't discourage the woman and mother. If she can't handle a high-powered position with a stay-at-home dad and paid help, we may as well kick all women out of the work force.

I hardly think "parenting" takes up a great deal of Hillary's daily schedule anymore. Getting lunches packed? Reading bedtime stories? Planning playdates and doctors' appointments? Not so much when your child is in her late twenties! How can you compare the two, honestly?

                                                                      {"commentId":2883200,"threadId":"355018","contentId":"1853830","authorDomain":"kamela"}

Here is a woman who is successful, articulate, bright and they are hammering her. Why? I think it has a lot to do with the fact that she is confident enough to be her own woman. She stands for what she believes in and does not back down. The liberals only want women that toe the line on their beliefs. They don't really want strong women who think for themselves, they want puppets. As for those that say McCain Palin will be bad for single moms, etc., you really need to think about what the higher taxes that you will pay under Obama will do to your family's budget each and every month.

I would like to point out the interesting quote that makes me really challenge Sarah Palin and makes me point out the recent rhetorical hypocrisy in her party (I'm Independent as was considering a vote for McCain until he picked Palin--or rather, until Palin was picked for him).

''To any critics who say a woman can't think and work and carry a baby at the same time, I'd just like to escort that Neanderthal back to the cave," the Anchorage Daily News quoted Palin saying last March, after the surprise announcement that she was seven months pregnant with Trig.

Perhaps Palin should heed her own advice and rethink her Neanderthal views about womens rights and gay rights, etc.
