Which candidate offers the best policy on Iraq?

The American entanglement in Iraq has receded as a campaign issue in the past few months, partly because the number of American casualties has declined since last year. But Iraq will be an unavoidable dilemma for the next president.

Barack Obama

McCain says 'there will be more wars byr friends. Oh yes, there will be more wars.' He is a warmonger... not what we need to bring peace.

If you watched Newsnight on BBC Friday night, I agree with the soldiers. Its time to get out of a senseless war.

He has been more right than McCain has so far. I think his vision is better in the long run as far as the long range diplomatic one.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I think Obama will do what's best for the people of the US rather than the lobbyist and pocket for bib business.

The best policy is the best "judgment". Obama opposed the war from the start. McCain does not good judgment on anything.

We can't afford to keep so many troops there. Lower the number drastically and let the Iraqi gov't step up with troops and money.

MSNBC Makes me sick - the reporters working for this left wing ultra biased network should be removed and sent off to work in the PAC committee's they represent. MSNBC is no longer a valid news source - It should from this point forward be referred to as MSNBC/OBAMA4PRES - BIASED and Completely Partial Political news coverage. This network is a joke... Kind of reminds me of the NY Post....... Sad.

As I read the discussion above I see that the majority think Obama is better for our international security. I am saddened by the people who still support the GOP by saying that with Obama we can expect another attack by terrorists. Why must you use fear mongering to help elect your candidate? GWB used that in 2004 and we are sick and tired of listening to that garbage. Go back to the drawing board to find something else to use.

Obama supporters keep showing their ignorance as does Obama. The economy is in the situation it is in BECAUSE of the Clinton's. The Clinton's rode the Reagan era. Think about it. If you are smart and truthful you will come to the realization of that fact. Put your Obama in office and your child's era will be in severe devastation. Obama has nothing to offer but his charm. I am neither democrat or republican because both sides have issues that are not for Americans, therefor I am an AMERICAN trying to pick the best candidate and for those of you that believe it is Obama I feel sorry for you and the country if he gets into office. The day that Obama can address a question with an answer and actually give a truthful one that he has not lied about, backtracked on or just flat out given a half ass one from his aides well even then I'm not sure I'd listen because he speaks no truth and I won't even get started on his hypocrite wife.

I am so glad I am not the only one that feels this way. I have lots of questions, feel free to answer me. If everyone is going green why does Las Vegas not use solar power, they are in a desert?
If we are so worried about other countries and trust them why are there no other countries troops here in America?
Why are we exploring the moon, when we could be using the technology and knowledge from NASA to help find alternatives to live here on Earth?
As for our troops bring them all home wherever they maybe fighting or not, if a country wants our help we will be there, but only when they ask and only then.
Just a few concern not really in the news, but the money and energy could help with the situation we our now facing, as for Braveheart I agree you need help

The oil companies lost their contracts and now the highest bidder is China. We fought a war and China gets the oil. I think Obama has the answer. Anyone here a backfire? Couldn't be a car. We can't afford to drive ours. Must have been a Chinese car. Why are we there?

Get out before it costs us more lives and more money.

Once Bush landed on that aircraft carrier and proclaimed "Mission Accomplished" was not that the point in time when the OCCUPATION OF IRAQ began? To be precise, would not be it correct to use the phrase "Occupation of Iraq" rather than "The WAR IN IRAQ."

Oh, as for the upcoming election, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR THE LESSER OF THE TWO EVILS !!

Its unbelievable to me that so many people are overlooking the obvious. I agree that the reasons for going to war were trumped up and that we should never have gone. But no one seems to realize the far-reaching consequences of a premature troop withdrawal. If we leave before the situation is completely stable and the Iraqi government is completely in control, we're going to see a major oil-supplying nation go down in the flames of anarchy and civil war. You think the cost of living and the price of gas is high now? With their rose-colored glasses firmly in place, people like to pontificate about the need for alternative fuels and lowering dependence on foreign oil. But until the day we have a viable fuel cell vehicle or a massive oil deposit sitting in the Midwest somewhere, I'm happy to keep on keeping Iraq stable through our troop presence. Come back to earth and see the big picture people....or pay $15.00 to fill up your SUVs.

I totally agree, there in no need to have people in the white house just for the sake of having them there. If the McCain/Palin ticket can provide the American people with more information on issues that concern each and everyone of us than now is the time to speak. If you don't please keep your little thoughts off the TV. Give us more than your bald face lies and your uppity opinions.

Show some real concerns for our soldiers and citizens, not just the ones who write the big checks for you, but all of us.

That Sarah Palin is one scary chick when you think oval office and Palin in the same sentence. It would be like have leave it to beaver mom in the white house, doing whatever Todd and McCain say do.

Iraq has taken time away from what the American military set out to do...capture Osama Bin Laden. We did not set out to build a democracy in the desert. Sadaam had nothing to do with 9/11. So what was the point of going there? Now, seven years later our econmy is going into the ground and we are spending billions every month to fund this war. At some point it has to end, and I seriuosly do not see McCain doing that.

This is part of what the NY Post printed:

Barack Obama privately tried to persuade Iraqi political leaders to stall an agreement on scaling back American troops in Iraq while publicly campaigning for a speedy withdrawal, The New York Post reported Monday.

Obama's request for a delay was a major theme of his talks with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said in an interview with the Post.

A delay....he wanted them to delay? After he told the American People we need to get out of there. He is willing to sacrifice American Soldiers for his lousy campaign.

We are at the end of the task and we are getting from there in a good shape and with dignity. Both candidates are good, but i think McCain have the best idea. Obama was wrong before and is wrong now. We need to withdrawn our troops next year by a good percentage and the remaining troops will comeback in 2010 with the exception of a few troops. iraq will need to pay for oil and expenses as soon as the middle of 2009 and get 90-95 % of responsibility at the end of 2009.
