Emphasis on deregulation by the Bush Administration and leading Republican lawmakers (Phil Graham et al) exacerbated Wall Street's greed.

THE REPUBLICANS IS THE PROBLEM!. All they care about is the war and showing how strong we are. Look at us, look at our economy! How are we strong? Because of this stupid war to show we are strong has thrown the U.S.A to the ground. We are never going to get better if we elect yet another Republican into office. Why would we do that? Why would people want to vote a man into office, who only cares about killing and making the rest of the world afraid of us. Why would you want that? We need major change, we cannot afford to have another Republican in office, if this does happen, we are going to head straight toward DESTRUCTION. McCain says the if we pull out of the war we would be in danger and he saying hes going to bring them home in victory, you are putting those man in a war that can never be won. We are doing the same mistake, just like the Cold War. Trying to impose our views on other poeple and trying to change them! It is never going to happen! WE NEED CHANGE WE NEED OBAMA!

    TWO WORDS---UNREGULATED DERIVATIVES !!

There is at least one key difference between casino gambling and CDS trading: Gambling has strict government regulation. The federal government has long shied away from any oversight of CDS. The CFTC floated the idea of taking an oversight role in the late '90s, only to find itself opposed by Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan and others. Then, in 2000, Congress, with the support of Greenspan and Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers, passed a bill prohibiting all federal and most state regulation of CDS and other derivatives. In a press release at the time, co-sponsor Senator Phil Gramm - most recently in the news when he stepped down as John McCain's campaign co-chair this summer after calling people who talk about a recession "whiners" - crowed that the new law "protects financial institutions from over-regulation ... and it guarantees that the United States will maintain its global dominance of financial markets." (The authors of the legislation were so bent on warding off regulation that they had the bill specify that it would "supersede and preempt the application of any state or local law that prohibits gaming ...") Not everyone was as sanguine as Gramm. In 2003 Warren Buffett famously called derivatives "financial weapons of mass destruction."

Home owners that didn't have the itelligence to realize that adjustable rate loans only adjust one way are the cause of the problem. I don't blame either party. If people didn't get loans that they new they wouldn't be able to pay for when they adjusted  banks wouldn't be having the issues they have now. People need to learn to take responability for their own actions and quit passing the buck. I don't feel bad for any of you! You all need to wake up and learn to live within your means.

The blame should go to everyone, or more precisely, anyone who made a purchase they could not afford! This economy is a disaster due to greedy people.  America is becoming a spoiled nation. People need to take responsibility for their own finances, rich or poor; it is no ones fault but your own.  Did you sign a contract you can’t honor or make a purchase you are unable to pay for?  That would be YOUR fault. We should be teaching our children to budget, to take responsibility for their actions; instead we are trying to pass that responsibility to everyone else. No one promised your home would appreciate, and if they did, you were foolish for believing it. There are no guarantees in life, if you live above your means, take responsibility!  Yes, mortgage companies took advantage of people, I am sure of this, but if you are an adult with all your faculties, it is your responsibility to read that contract and to honor it! People are quick to “pass the buck” but it is time for us to all take responsibility for our actions. Can’t afford it, tough luck, you don’t deserve it.  It is time to start earning our rewards, not sitting back and waiting for everything to rise in value and reap the benefits. Are you willing to share your profits? If not, quit trying to pass the blame when it goes sour. Let’s all start taking responsibility! I drive a used car, I live in an older home, but I can pay my bills and if not, I am willing to downsize if it means feeding my family.  I am not blaming anyone for my financial state nor do I expect a bailout from anyone.

Your right eurigo09...the tape doesn't lie. And everytime I see the tape, I see Emmitt running, running, running. You say he had a team around him, but anyone that watched the Cowboys knows that the running game made the team...and Emmitt WAS the running game.

You make NO sense. Emmitt set state high school rushing records in Florida, then set more rushing records at Florida U in only 3 years (records that took 4 years to break). After all that...he OWNS all the major NFL rushing records (Yards, TD's, Carries), won multiple rushing titles, and an MVP. Oh yeah...he has 3 rings as well.

Backup...I don't think so. Doubt me...then watch the season finale against the Giants after the '92 season. One of the greatest performances in NFL history!!! Yes, he was durable...don't count that against him though...he endured in the single most difficult position to endure in...NFL running back...average shelf life of 4 years!!!

The numbers never lie... #1 All-Time
