Palin continues to show she has not straight answers to anything.
I see alot of people saying she looked like a robot. Yes she did. They preped her so much. Its a shame that she does not stand up to them. She should be able to do this with out the prep. I guess she's not that strong and independent as she says. She needs big McCain's help. Or he does not want to look any more dumb than he already does for picking her. Biden could have said and done more but he played nice.
Regardless of what people say and think "Lipstick" & "Pit" did what needed to be done! Anytime someone becomes an elected official with authority, in Gov. Palin's example, you can't be a weak robot and make the accomplishments she has made.
If you are willing to be a political tool, yes, you can.
I doubt you really know much about her record from independent sources.
She appears robotic to a lot of people due to reiterating what seemed to be "talking points" instead of responding the the questions asked of her. She was on an unequal footing with the senior Senator who is the chair of the foreign relations committee, no comparison! No wonder she needed that little extra help of her notecards. I have to hand it to her for guts, showing up at all. But maybe that's just her overreaching ambition toward a tremendous responsiblity for which she is not qualified or sufficiently prepared. And which people in the majority think would be an unpatriotic thing to attempt, when she isn't qualified. Or maybe she's just that arrogant! Hey ANYBODY, absolutely ANYBODY, can be VP!
She strikes me as ready for nothing more than a small-size city's council. She was reportedly inept at her job as mayor of a tiny town (hey, I love tiny towns! That's not the issue) to the degree there were rumblings of impeachment within a couple short months. At that point, a town manager was hired to conduct her mayoral duties for her.
Managing a household of 5 children well is more impressive, in my opinion. I think the jury's still out on that one, though, in her case. I wish her kids well----they deserve better than this.
Oh, and those "accomplishments" of hers?
What, exactly, are they?
This "accomplishments" term gets a lot of play with her supporters, but then they never say what they're referring to. Do they mean just getting elected? Or what???
Please, tell us factually (and not talking points from Fox "News") what even ONE of those accomplishments is. Find out from a non-partisan verifiable source.
She did leave her little community in $20 million debt, when they'd previously had none, as I recall. In a time of fantastic prosperity for their region. And then didn't even institute the proper roads & works projects they needed badly with the money which had rolled in, before the debt piled up. They got a little of the infrastructure work done, of a very poor standard which will need to be re-done sooner (more $$$).
Because of her spending huge amounts on things that they didn't actually need, like a huge splashy sports complex that had legal entanglements and causing them a vast amount of $$$ when it could have been avoided, had she waited a little bit & just resolved the legal issues BEFORE starting to build it. But she wanted tobe a popular politician, so she gave folks about a grand each from their then-surplus and borrowed $$$ to address the infrastructure that they actually really needed (instead of a sports complex). Roads and infrastructure take a big hit there, with the weather being as severe as it is.
I guess all that is an accomplishment......of sorts.
Hey Molly,
Why don't you tell us what Barack has actually done. Nothing! He gave a speech and the Democrats put him up for President. Wow, what an accomplishment. If you think he is ready to run this country, seek help. The man you see is a shell developed by the media. Like Whoopie said, he can't be himself because he would scare the white people. She is correct. He hates whites just like Rev. Wright taught him to do. His wife might actually be worse then him. However, she probably has more experience to be President than he does. At least she actually was a big wig in business.
Barack Obama is a dangerous man!
Did you really read your remark? If he hated why people then why did he pick Joe Biden? Your remark is ludicrous! Read his biograpghy to see what he has done. Barack is no more dangerous than John " I cant rememer" McCain. When is this country going to stand up and be what its charter says: One of judging a man or woman by their character and knowledge, rather than skin color and perceived prejiduces!
Sara Palin is not a thinker she is a memorizer. The reason she didn’t stumble all over herself was due to the fact that she memorized talking points and then didn’t answer the questions she didn’t know. She corrected Joe Biden about “Drill baby drill” even though Biden let her get away with quite a few mistakes. The thing that scared me the most was her grasp of the constitution dealing with Vice Presidential authority. This woman scares the hell out of me and the ability of McCain to make a serious decision.
Palin needs a few more years of coaching to be ready for this level of responsibility. She is trying hard to fit where she is not yet adequate. McCain gamble is wrecking this poor soul that is not yet ready to tackle issues and questions as necessary. McCain has shown poor judgement in trying to tame her into a reciting machine, I think Americans deserve a VP of better depth and ideological reasoning.
She had her answers so prepared that she would change the subject so she could give the answer that she had memorized. Some questions she didn't seem to understand. . .Achilles Heel?? She was pretty silly. Bush was silly in his debates too. Two of a kind. We don't need a dumb beginner in office again. We've had that for 8 years. Times are too serious now.
Achilles Heel? She'd have to look that up before she could answer.
She was not intellectual and presidential...she avoided many questions, used cliches' that made her look unprofessional, she has a very snotty attitude...she is no where near qualified to be the VP of this country. Please America..don't do this to our land!
Way to go Marla...you hit it right on!
Can I be vice president, Senator McCain. At least I have some resemblence of a coherant thought and can answer a question directly when asked, even if it isnt the "talking point" Is Gov. Palin able to think for herself at all? As a nurse, I would be fired when asked a direct question I could not give an honest, critical thinking type answer. Well at least we can all take a breath knowing she is not responsible for "a life". Can you imagine if she had to think on her own feet and make critical decisions that could effect someones life? We would all be in trouble. Thank god that if she becomes VP she only has the entire country"s life in her hands.
How fake can you get! And the scary thing is she wants to expand the role of the V.P. ? After all we have been through the last 8 years!! I don't trust her at all.
Your right! What really gets me is that she wants to completey control Washington when she doesn't know basic answers to simple questions including what a VP does. Wasn't she full of piss and vinegar!!!!!!! and something else that I can't write on this page. But You know what I mean.
I love Biden. He was the perfect choice for VP. It shows Obama's good decision making skills. Biden could easily step in as president. McCain and Palin are scary. Palin is so out of her league. Times are too serious now to put someone so unprepared as Palin in office and someone so old and out of touch like John McCain.
So you counter is to put somone as unprepared as Obama in as President?
Should we not have high expectations for any candidate running for president???
Moderator was horrible. She didn't force Palin to answer anything!!!!
We do know she wants to alter the Constitution to give the VP MORE POWER
Hey, Gwen got bamboozled yesterday by the Machine; she was fine-------very neutral
But how funny is it that the Guv has no appreciation of the danger of a scary Cheney-esque unitary executive, which is using our Constitution like toilet paper!
I couldn't agree w/you more!!!!
A moderator is not a pundit, PPL.....A moderator does the job of making sure that the question is asked and that the answer comes in the time allotted! Gesh.....
After the racist onslaught that she received by many INCLUDING A LOT OF YOU ON THESE BOARDS, I think that SHE (Gwen)was the big winner of the night!
Palin was a disgrace to womanhood!
ObamaDiva :D
Gwen Ifill is awesome. She deserves a whopping big apology from the lowlifes trying to insinuate what they have about her this week.
Sarah Palin doesn't deserve to stand in the same room with her.
Palin's performance seemed more like a speech than a debate with all the issue switching. Isn't a candidate supposed to actually respond to the moderator's actual question? She certainly didn't fall on her face as many expected but she was extremely well-programmed. I don't want leadership that are puppets controlled by others behind a curtain (i.e. Bush). At least for Palin, she either goes on to VP or can at least return to Alaska with some dignity.
Good point! Bush is a puppet, with Cheney & Rove & the Others (including neocons) controlling him. Palin is a puppet, too. No wonder McCain et al wanted her. And if McCain is not able to be president, the Others will be in total control. Scary.
We need Obama & Biden. They're calm, in control, and SMART.
Senator Joe played it just right-----insisted several times on correcting the falsehoods, without being a snide SOB (like someone else I could mention, who tanked in the polls for good this week), continued being a fair, respectful, great debater.
He answered the questions and addressed the issues----he didn't spout a bunch of lines hand-fed to him; he doesn't need it. You may disagree with his opinions, but he was clear about them and took responsibility for them.
Additionally, and crucially, he hammered home specific details, those things people claim they're not hearing. And although Senator Obama laid out specific details and directly answered the questions, Joe understands that partisan hard-cores refuse to acknowledge what they don't want to hear.
Senator Obama & he are a fabulous team----they complement each other very well, on both policies and temperament.
If this was is considered a WIN by the McCain camp, everybody better start running like Forrest Gump the opposite direction. Sarah Palin is NOT qualified to be VP. She babbled all NIGHT LONG and at various time, she sounded like a broken stumping "record". It became very annoying.
Sarah Palin NEVER laid out a distinct difference between John McCain and George W. Bush!! She NEVER MADE THE CASE!!!
AND when she clearly claimed she's been at this 5-weeks so she won't make any promises, that SEALED IT FOR ME. Sarah Palin CLEARLY IS NOT QAULIFIED TO BE VP and JOHN McCAIN SHOULD BE TARRED AND FEATHERED FOR PICKING THIS BIMBO!!!
Couldn't agree with you more.
I can't decide what it is about Palin that makes me want to VOMIT more - her STUPIDITY and the fact that she is such a CON ARTIST getting over on those moronic republicans with the "cute" and "folksy" act...
...or the fact that she actually has the audacity to be so disrespectful of both Sen. Biden and Sen Obama. Both of whom she does not even deserve to be in the same room with.
Every time she comes up with one of her idiotic "jabs" at either of them I just wish I could slap the smirk off her face!! She is beyond annoying!!! I just wish she would go back to Alaska so I won't have to look at her anymore.
Am I the only one that is bothered by the fact that they have to spend so much time training and preparing Sarah? She is running for the second highest office in America! I don't dislike her as a person and I hate to read comments that she is stupid or dumb. She is not. She just isn't qualified for the second highest office in the United States. It's ridiculous that McCain chose her. Country first...baloney! He chose her on a whim. And it has backfired. She still sounds so rehearsed. I'm a registered Republican, but I am voting for Obama and Biden. McCain made a huge mistake.
Do yo think that Obama has not been trained. The only difference is that he has been trained for 19 months.
A huge difference, Lstewart, is that Obama has put forth many suggestions that have been acted upon - even by the current administration - because he's smart AND has a clue.
Well Lstewart, it's obvious that the polls show that Obama looks Presidential! He's passed the test. Some people like John Kennedy are just gifted to be President. That's Obama and that's why he will win. People in America are finally looking beyond the color of a man's skin - Thank God! Again, I don't dislike Palin, but she is not ready to be Vice-President. She is a talking machine at this point.
I wonder if he actually chose her or if she was chosen for him. There's something not kosher about this Palin choice. And with McCain already experiencing dementia, are 'they' counting on using Palin as a facade, pretty much like 'they' used Bush as a front for 'their' agenda? What we'd better remember, the course was set for Bush to be sitting in the White House--are we ready if there is a repeat performance?
Completely correct.
Empty vessels for their crazy Imperialist agenda.
I truly think we, the people, are pulling our country back from the brink.
Sarah Palin sounded like she was presenting her first "book report" - impressing on issues she was told to impress upon. She's so inexperienced and uninformed that she needed intense rehearsing. And she couldn't separate McCain from Bush, couldn't sound sincere and just doesn't have the substance for the VP position.
"Now we know what it would be like if "Barbie & Ken ran for office"
You mean Barbie and Grandpa Ken
And as much as Sarah Palin sounded like she was presenting her first book report - Joe Biden sounded like he was giving you a glimpse, with passion, of a book he wrote, based on experience and lessons learned. Joe Biden rocked tonight! And he did it with grace and candor. I was impressed!
He spoke to our hearts. This man is a real deal. And Obama knew what he was doing when he picked him. Great judgement on Obama's part. WATT! What a terrific team.
She wouldn't answer any of the questions, because she COULDN'T answer any of the questions! She just stood there and stumped for McCain. Except when she tried to answer the question about Chaney...Which she answered she agreed with him...( insert shocked look here)...I don't think the woman ever passed a civics class. She scares me more now than she did pre debate!
Me too, Candace. I also felt like she was talking down to me all night
I was very impressed with Joe Biden. He answered the questions with substantial information. Information that can be verified. He didn't generalize. He outlined very well what his ticket stands for. He reinforced the reasons I will be voting for Obama/Biden. I feel very comfortable with him in the VP's seat.
Sarah Palin sounded like she was stumping through the entire debate. I think this woman is a likeable person, but she is so far out of her league it is painful. She didn't answer the questions and never once established a difference between McCain/Palin and Bush/Cheney. In fact, she brought her ticket closer to the current administration with her comments about expanding the VP's powers. Frankly, as a VP candidate she scares the hell out of me.
I agree with you, Joe Biden looked and sounded like a President. I was shocked when Sarah Palin said "I may not answer these questions the way you, or the moderator, want them to be answered." This was because she didn't have the knowledge to answer any of the questions, she would just spin off onto some rehearsed conservative view. I don't see how anyone could trust her with the presidency... because she has made it perfectly clear that she is unqualified for the position, and on the wrong side of very important issues. Expanding the VP role unconstitutional! And why is nobody talking about her huge gaffe about General McKiernan? She referred to him more than once by the wrong name!
She outright skipped questions, refused to answer them at all!!! Her "folksy" style comes across as insincere and condescending. She simply has nothing of substance to offer me as a voter.
I believe Joe Biden is more connected to mainstream America. I know because I am a regular citizen and he is social and generally caring. He is not fake. He is nice when the cameras are not rolling. I think that what he experienced in losing his wife and daughter and not knowing whether his sons would make it, and stood with them and loved and raised them well shows his character. Many people would have not been able to handle this type of tragedy. Obama and Biden truly, truly cares about people. I think they are the Change Agents America needs. I am glad and thankful they are in our corner.
Has our country reached such low expectations that we praise the Republican Vice Presidential candidate because she didn't fall flat on her face? I certainly would not want her to be president of this country. If you thought the last 8 years were bad, a Palin presidency would be a disaster.
I agree Bucephalus. I think we'll find that Americans are not duped. I believe Americans are looking for answers. So far McCain/Palin have given us no straight answers to the problems facing the majority of us.
That's what the good ppl of Alaska call her.......
Disasta in Alaska
You're in Easy Mode. If you prefer, you can use XHTML Mode instead. |
She had no substance and didn't really answer the questions, but she had memorized her energy answers well. And she was cute.
