after watching tonight people should run from McCain as fast as they can.
I noticed that Sarah Palin talked as if SHE was the one on the top of the ticket. She talked and sounding like she repeating stumping talking points. There were a LOT of times Gov. Palin rambled to the point I was shaking my head and saying "what the HELL is she talking about"? She was doing nothing but "babbling" on and on. It was very annoying.
Wow. I know that I left a comment earlier, and now it is gone.
Now I know why this forum is slanted toward the Democrats.
Proof will follow...I will probably have to be someone else though.
Deucalion - Your comment is still there. The fact that you are in the huge minority here is not bias. It's just fact. Sorry.
Deucalion...All comments are welcome here. Where are all the Republicans?
She HAD to talk about stumping talking points...it is all she knows. She was spoon fed it and then regurgitated it...over and over and over again no matter what the question was
ALL of them are prepped and "spoon fed" information. Duh! Get real. Barack can't normally speak without a teleprompter in front of him (or a mirror for that matter).
im telling you if obama and biden get in prepare for the end of the world as we know it.
world will end if obama hussein gets in
Did you know that OBAMA wrote his own convention speech?? This was not something he is spoon fed. Check the facts..
America as we know it will be no more if McCain/Palin wins. If they are elected the world will laugh at us!! They are running on the fact that Fools like you will not vote for a black man even thought he has strategically out maneuvered everyone that he has and is running against.. Keep underestimating Obama and the American People.. WE WILL HAVE THE LAST WORD.
CHECKMATE!!
Now we know what it would be like if "Barbie & Ken ran for office!
Biden was great tonight.
I hope the voting public really take a look at McCains health care plan. For those who are unemployed and who are uninsured his plan for $5000 tax credit is a drop in the bucket when it comes to paying for insurance. Palin's comment about people living within their means was something that made me angry. Yes, of course we all need to live within our means and yes there are some who have over extended themselves. But the majority of the population are just trying to pay for the basic needs of the family...like fuel bills, food, health insurance, taxes, etc... Palin is not only a Bush clone, she's a Cheney clone as well. She wants the VP to have more power!
If you think you are better off with the government controling more of your money, then pick Obama, a health care system would be a nightmare, If you think HMO's are terrible. A government health care would allow everyone medical? At a snails pace of care, why? The cues would be so long and the doctors would just pack up and head to other places or countries that would give them a better condition and work environment. I agree that we are living beyond our means, this is where government has put us, if you put Obama in the WH the Democrats will be stronger than they are now and have been for 2years. Bush is not responsible for all the failures in our government, as you can see with the bail out plan, congress has the greater control, the President can shout do this, but the bill must be past, and Pelosi should have been watching out for the public too? Palin and McCain will challenge the Washington Boys Club, I haven't heard such a word coming from Obama Camp?
In a government-run health system, the ques may be long, but at least you would have health care and wouldn't have to bankrupt yourself to pay for it. You're just spouting the same arguments that every opponent of universal health coverage uses. Health care is a right that should be enjoyed by every citizen, not just those who can afford it. Furthermore, I don't see the doctors from others countries that have universal health care flocking to the US to practice medicine.
Regarding putting Obama in the WH, it's time we had someone who knew how to govern and lead for the people, not just for a select few at the top of the income ladder as we've had for the past eight years. Bush may not be responsible for everything that has happenend, however as President he should bear the responsibility as it was his administration that presided over the failures of government during his tenure.
I agree! She doesn't get it! For some people right now living within their means isn't living at all. Those statements really anger me. Obama want's to raise the standards for EVERYONE.
90% of homeowners are paying their mortgage regularly, and struggling to do so! Who the hell does Palin think she is? She made alot of people angry with that statement, did she wink at us when she said it?
Ssimpsonca is absolutely right about health care. Also, it needs to be pointed out that universal health care does not equal government run health care. What Obama is proposing is that every American be given the same excellent health coverage that members of Congress enjoy. Are we not all as entitled to health care as any member of Congress?
MSL has a good point. We're not talking universal health care, it will be just another option for people who can't get coverage now. McCain's 5000 tax credit (2500 if your single) would barely help. The average cost of health insurance for a family in my state is over 10k. Even in states with lower costs the average is over 9k.
It's a pretty sad statement about the vice presidential debate that Sarah Palin's success was that she didn't fall flat on her face. With the immense difficulties facing this country, we need an experienced Vice President, not someone who has absolutely no domestic and foreign policy experience. She has no understanding of the complexity of the issues facing this country. Joe Biden spoke knowledgeably about the issues and totally outstripped Sarah Palin. Joe Biden won by a landslide. McCain made a huge blunder choosing her as his running mate.
I agree wholeheartedly!
Excuse me but I do get it. I have had the occasion to experiment a government/ country run facility. It's no picnic, no privacy, you share a room with 3 or 4 people who are very sick, maybe sicker than you, then you might see the specialist doctor once in a 6 day period. They schedule tests, and those can take weeks or months depending on your place in the cue, many have made the comments that you may die before they figure out your health issue. So don't tell me I don't get it I really get it and feel we are better off in the US if we can pick and choose our own health care, and that our country just makes it lower costs for everyone to have their own choice.
You will still be able to pick and chose your healtcare. No one said you will be forced into using the governments system.
You can pick and choose your healthcare now. Nothing's stopping you from turning down your employer paid bennifits and paying your own healthcare out of pocket now. I haven't seen a drop in health care or health insurance prices ever.
"Excuse me but I do get it. I have had the occasion to experiment a government/ country run facility. Look at Canada for example, they have it right as far as health care. You can go to any doctor, any clinic and if you NEED the operation, you get it. Things like cosmetic surgery or any other form of elective surgery will result in a potential waiting list. You say you have experience in government run health care, which is the worst, everyone knows it. However, have you ever stopped to ask why? Why do county/VA type hospitals suck, the reason being, they aren't funded as well as private facilities. That's a fact. In Canada, you don't pay a health care bill at the end of each visit, medication is free or low cost, why, because the government regulated it to be such. They don't play games with the special interests out there lobbying for the health care industry. Wake up, do some research before you drink the koolaid. Canada was one example, go look at Europe for plenty of other successful health care plans that would work here and benefit the American people.
I want all mothers to rise up and tell Palin her baby needs to be in bed at 10:30 and not up on a stage being paraded around like a prop. Come on what responsible parent does that to a very young baby. I think that is in the end what makes me so mad at the McCain/Palin ticket. Palin is not the only mom in the world, she is not "special" because she lives in Alaska and her husband races snowmachines. She does not speak for me or any of my working class friends. My friends know how to be a good parent, my friends dream of their kids going to an Ivy League school and getting a chance to travel abroad. I know proper grammer, important Supreme Court decisions and what magazines I read. Come on lets all try to inject some reality into this mess.
Barb - Her grammer is terrible and she is so confused. I don't fault her wanting to succeed but why not raise her family first? She comes across as being very selfish and I am offended that McCain tried to win the female vote by selecting her. They should have done more searching but then, he is out of touch on so many issues, isn't he.
thank you barb. you made my day
I, too, agree that she is not being a good mother to have that infant up that late. I did notice that he was trying to sleep. Why would any parent do that to a baby? I boggles my mind!
But I have other issues concerning her and her parenting style or lack thereof. I also question who that baby really belongs to ... I'm just having a hard time believing Sarah could be in labor on an airplane for hours and the stewardesses didn't have a clue she was even pregnant. I just can't buy the fact that when she was 7 months pregnant nobody, including the people she worked with, knew ... or that after having 4 other children she didn't look pregnant at the age of 44 ... I just don't trust the McCain campaign because I think they would rather make a good story into a better one by fudging the truth a tiny bit. All you have to do is remember is Cindy claiming Mother Theresa asked her to take the 2 babies back to the states, one of which she adopted, when it was actually other nuns that asked. There again, making a good story better by fudging the facts a little. Its not like the McCain camp hasn't done it before.
It is all anit-Palin now. My screen shots will show a very interesting story today.
My kids are in bed at 8PM because they have school the next day. What are her kids doing following her around the country this campaign instead of being in school?
I thought I was the only one thinking this! I understand that the McCain people know that her family "connects" with the public, but can't they at least let the baby be safe in his snuggy bed at that hour as he should be. He is, after all, not much older than an infant. The sister lurching around the stage with the baby in her arms (no support of the back) looked pretty dangerous too! Back in the 70's and 80's I was a single mother and if I was out late at a business meeting etc, my young children were home like they should have been. It's pretty bad when a campaign uses babies!!!
I just can't help feeling that something is wrong with a "mother" who will use a baby to promote herself. There was absolutely no other reason for that baby to be there. If she feels that the unborn should have rights, than certainly she would believe that a small baby should have them too. At that time of night, all babies should be in quiet, restful places so that they can get the sleep they need to grow and be healthy. Who defended this baby's right? Perhaps Palin abused her power as a mother to parade a poor baby? More bad judgement. Maybe no one has told her how to properly care for a baby? Or maybe she just doesn't care?
Lmao!!
Failin was not even close to presidential.
At best she did a very good job as a NewsCaster spreading the mantra of her party.
She did not appear real, honest, or that she was talking from what she knows.
Instead she looked Fake, Prepped, and truthfully like a talking Parrot.
I am so excited about the O'Bama-Biden ticket. It would be so nice to have intelligence in the White House again. I think most of the people that voted for "someone to have a beer with" have learned that it is a job that requires intellect. Senator Biden explained so many things tonight that Senator McCain lied about.
I hated hearing some of Palin's answers, it was so painful. She started to look like a dear in headlights.
It is excruciating to think that anyone living in America would vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin over Barak Obama and Joe Biden. Frightening. What did she say about nukes? I know how hot things are, does she even have an idea? I don't think she does. She was pumped up in Crawford for ten days and probably had a bug in her ear to boot. Didn't help, but at least she isn't a complete joke anymore, which was a complete embarassment for all of us.
Biden was statesman like and proved he is ready to serve and lead in the event the need arises. Palin came across as a robomessenger. I kept wishing I could push the off button or hang up on her. It was very disingenuous for Palin to keep misstating facts and votes -- obviously, two people saying the exact opposite facts cannot both be right. I think fact check organizations will find that Biden was accurate on the facts with little deviation. Palin was far off the mark on the facts--even on her own record on tax reductions in Alaska. It amazes me that McCain and Palin seem to discount that in our internet age voters are able to quickly research and confirm facts and issues. McCain, Obama and Biden's voting records are available at the click of a mouse. Palin's records are also easily obtainable. We can find out the facts, and, unfortunately for McCain/Palin, we will find out the facts. Those annoying facts will get you every time!
Apparently she thinks a civil war general is leading the war in Afghanistan. I just sat here, dumbfounded, that McCain has the audacity to pick this woman as his running mate. This choice he made illustrates very clearly how little he cares about this country. He is running for power and he will only benefit the wealthy. As a wife of a member of the military I am terrified of McCain/Palin winning this election. As a middle class American I am disgusted with the republican party in general. Obama/Biden is the only sane choice in this election.
Sukami - I am terrified as well. People must get out and vote, especially the younger Americans. We cannot have McCain and Palin in Washington!
Dont let fear drive you, fear leads to irrational decisions. Can you imagine what our President was faced with after 9/11? Then think of the cost to impliment Changes in a short period of time to make America feel safe. think about those who let fear drive them to make such decisions. there are a lot of things we gave up and it is in the Patriot Act. I don't think McCain is part of what our President has orchestrated and we the people simply just let our representitives take that from us. Dont blame McCain for our short fallings, look in the mirror. look in the mirror and make a choice come election night. You want some to take care of you or do you want to take care of yourself?
rudy- your words are correct. I do not think Biden would have faired as well if he was facing Senators Shelby or Hutchinson. However, Biden did not have to face these formidable conservatives. No, John McCain chose Alaska Barbie. I thank you for your honest and wise words.
Joe Biden won hands down. Sara Palin was a pre-programmed caricature and didn't add anything substantive to her portfolio, all half a page of it. The thought of this person ever being President is the stuff of nightmares. She is an enigma in the sense that after listening to her you still don't know what she stands for. It's as if "the lights are on but there's nobody home". Biden on the other hand proved himself quite knowledgeable and certainly capable of handling whatever comes his way. He has also demonstrated this in a very personal way as he told the story of his personal tragedy.
Biden by far is our man. We do not need mean beauty queens with no feelings other than for herself and her family in the Capitol. We also do NOT I repeat NOT need someone that has a connection to oil.

Joe Biden did an amazing job showing the american people that John McCain is not the Maverick he thinks he is... and neither is Sara Palin. She smiles at your face while she puts the dagger into your back. That is not new, that is vintage washington. The american people have a clear choice to make in Nov; do we want to re-elect the same old policies, or do we want to take this country in another direction, perferrably one with more accountability. Another question is; are we tired of war, or do we want to have a war monger with "serious PTSD" running this country?
Pat Buchanan actually said "she knocked it out of the park" and "owned the stage"- WTF???? She did not answer the questions that were asked, instead launched into a condensed and recycled version of her convention speach "energy independence - insert sentence fragment - maverick - insert sentence fragment - tax cuts - insert i want to expand the power of the vp - insert victory in iraq with a surge strategy". Only those with negative integers for IQ's would think she performed well.
The debate is an opportunity for the applicants to interview for the job to which they aspire. A good interviewing strategy for any job candidate is to answer the questions asked with clarity and directness so to instill confidence in the interviewers mind. Only people who can see Russia from their house could take comfort in Ms. Palins answers.
Conservative columnist Kathleen Parker wrote this week "if BS is currency, Sarah Palin could pay for the wall street bailout on her own". I suggest she made a down payment tonight.
Haha, down payment indeed. Good point.
very well said!!!
I think Palin and Biden both did very well. It's sad there is no intelligence requirement to vote. The truth is, neither ticket will get to pass any kind of agenda, their hands will be tied and they deserve our support as one unified people.
Pat Buchanan was referring to her lip gloss. It is obvious the old geezer is infatuated with Palin. She could set the Whitehouse on fire purposely and he'd say it was an accident as long as she wears that Friday night special lip gloss, those heels, and winks at him.
Kathleen Parker "knocked it out of the park" with her comment about Palin. She is such a B.S. artist. People need to wake up and realize that Palin being a woman does not make her Hillary Clinton's equal and the GOP used this poor woman to sway the woman vote and Hillary supporters who are on the fence (such an embarassment) because she did not get the presidential or VP nomination. Don't be sore losers and I am a huge Clinton supporter.
Come on people..........if you think the GOP are for the middles class you are so wrong. Although Palin doesn't make the standard high governor's salary it is comparable to what the governor's make that in the major states since Alaska isn't that big in comparison. You have people in her own state that don't know her and she has never made a visit to their town. We were warned to stay out of the Bushes 4 years ago but out of fear and hope that Bush would resolve the war he was re-elected (stole) the oval office.
Don't let it happen again................be smart!
McClellan apparently ditched the Army of the Potomac and is leading the fight in Afghanistan. Wait a minute.. *scratching head*
Biden was really great, the only mistake he made was the mentioning of an unknown ethnic group in the Baltic's whose people go by "Serbiak's.. that cracked me up but everyone knew who he was talking about. I really felt bad for him when his voice began to quiver when speaking about his deceased wife and daughter. Sad story, no one can fault the guy for showing emotion on that.
I can't wait to check out Fox news to see how they spin this into a Pallin blowout.
HOW MAVERICKITY......THE VP DEBATE PROVED PALIN SHOULD HAVE A LAP DANCER SEGMENT ON THE OREILLY FACTOR/FOX NOISE SCRIPTED GOP MCCAIN INFOMERCIAL. SHE'S A CUTE PERSONALITY, THOROUGHLY UNQUALIFIED TO BE VP OF HER OWN MIND, LET ALONE, THE LARGEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. PALINIMBLE BRAIN IS THE GOP'S WORST JOKE & THE BEST EXAMPLE OF MCINSANE'S JUDGMENT. SCARY! LOVED HER COMMENTS ABOUT EXPANDING THE POWERS OF THE VICE PRESIDENCY AND ANNOUNCING HER COMMITMENT NOT TO ANSWER GWEN IFII'S OR ANY OF THE MEDIA'S QUESTIONS AS ASKED, ONLY RECITING MCSAME TALKING POINTS, LIKE A KID SHOUTING/SPELLING THE LETTERS OF A WORD IN A GRADE SCHOOL SPELLING B. HORRIFIC! HER TALKING POINTS WERE GIMMICKRY WITH A WHINNY MEANNESS. WILL SHE BE DESIGNING/DECORATING THE USA-ISRAELI-PALESTINIAN-JERUSALEM EMBASSY WITH A MOOSE LODGE MOTIF IN MIND? WERE HER FOLKSY-SIX-PACK BURPS, VOMITED FOR VICTORY, SORT OF LIKE THE MCMANIAC/SARAHCIDE DEFINITION OF VICTORY IN IRAQ, MY FRIENDS? HANDS DOWN, BIDEN IS THE CLEAR WINNER OF THE DEBATE!
Palin hit on the contradictory habits of the democrats exploiting past comments of Obama and Biden. reading most of the comments posted, seems like most are not listening to what Palin was saying which is that McCain is the only one who has literally fought for our Country. McCain has been steady and was correct in saying that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong." That is a fact that the media need to convey to the American people. Media, please look into who is responsible for the current economic crisis in wall street. report on that, that what i want to read about. How are we the people going to hold those responsible?
Yes, McCain fought for our country. However these days our country needs a wise leader, not a good soldier.
I have watched and been a fan of Chris Matthews in the past, and I actually know his second cousin. I used to work with her. I know that MSNBC has taken on the liberal demographic of late. I would like to voice my support for the McCain/Palin ticket, and recommend that Democrats and Independents spend some time visiting the Hillary Clinton Forum (www.hillaryclintonforum.net) I have found this forum to be an excellent source of information that cuts across the political spectrum. Many of these Hillary supporters are supporting John McCain because they see his authentic record of reform (taking on big tobacco, tackling campaign finance reform, breaking with his party on stem cell research, against torture, and pro-active on the issue of global warming).
I watched the VP debate tonight and I was blown away with the charisma and character of Sarah Palin. She has been on the national stage for five weeks. She has energized millions of American voters. She has drawn intense scrutiny and ire from the media. I think she proved tonight that she is willing and able to lead America in the right direction. Her comments about Freedom touched me. We are a nation that is not perfect. We make mistakes. But our ideals inspire the world. Millions of people are coming to America each year for education and for economic opportunities.
We are in a dark period for our nation. The irresponsible behavior of the few threatens the many. Will we turn away from freedom, from limited government, and surrender to our enemies abroad? Or will we march forward, with conviction, with passion for the American ideal.
We can rise above this current crisis as previous generations. We must. And I trust John McCain because of his record of service to this country. I trust Sarah Palin because of her straight talk and record of reform in her state. She won't tolerate the status quo. She IS the change we've been waiting for.
Thank you for the opportunity to share my view, though you may disagree.
Nicole
P
I disagree with your opinion on John McCain he is my Senator and he is not what he claims he is or what you think he is. As far as Sarah Palin goes, tonight, I suppose anyone can ask yourself a question and then answer it and get away with it and then propose more power for the office you are running for, that is very troublesome and chilling considering 8 years of Cheney.
Hillary Clinton doesn't support your views or a forum in her name that would accomplish what you are proposing. I don't know if you are a disgruntle Hillary supporter or what. However; a real Hillary supporter would never vote for McCain-Palin for they have nothing in common, their beliefs are so far apart on the major issues of the day and Hillary and Barack are so close their is no difference. Hillary lost the nomination because of the people she had running her campaign were abysmal.
My wife was for Hillary and I was for Barack. She would get so down when he won a primary and so up when Hillary won. She would say why are you so calm and I'd just say look at the campaign Hillary is running she doesn't have a chance and if she does win I'd vote for her and my wife said she would vote for Obama as well. That is called staying with your core beliefs and John McCain has nothing to offer us and I dare say he has nothing to offer America.
Nicole, I am very bemused that you would use that particular websight. It seems that their are a certain number of people who are willing to throw this country under the bus. Just so that Hillary will have a chance in 4 years. I respect Hillary Clinton, and if she were running for election I would surely vote for her over the McCain/Palin ticket. However, I cannot let the middle and lower economic brackets of citizens of this country deal with four more years of McSame. I won't do that for anyone, not even Hillary Clinton, and she doesn't want that either.
doesn't matter what she babbled about, she never answered the question that was asked in the first place, NOT ONCE. Even if her "answers" were somewhat intelligent (huge improvement from those in her interviews, probably b/c the answers were scripted ahead of time), they didn't fit the question. In any sort of test, that would still be an "F"! Just imagine her being involved in any sort of international talk, and she starts rambling about Mavericks and tax cuts...
BOB GREENE-----------:-D
John McCain was also my senator, for 20 years. When I tell people that he exposed his worst nature there regularly, or perhaps it was just reported on, and that I consider him a hypocritical, mean SOB, they're usually shocked. He's been given a lot of leeway oveer the years in the media, in my opinion.
It's a relief to see what he's really about, what his record truly is being finally exposed. Well, at least part of the time :-/
And I agree with you wholeheartedly on the issue of maintaining consistency with one's core beliefs; I was prepared to for Senator Clinton should she win the primaries and the nomination, despite my lack of enthusiasm for her and my eventual disagreement with her campaign toward the end. She had the Democrats' platform to see through, not just her own, and I was confident she would do so honorably. And Senator Obama's positions are very similar to hers, so it would be ridiculous for me to cut off my nose to spite my face, in voting against the platform I support if my preferred candidate lost the nomination.
My vote is too precious to me to waste in an act of pointless defiance.
Thanks for your always thoughtful words.

Thank you my friend from Arizona. I feel so strongly as you do about John McCain that people are shocked when I say he is a phony and the run for the Presidency is not about Country First, but McCain First. for him to avenge the Vietnam War loss. All you have to say is he is a phony war hero and people go wild, but he is. Just his story that the enemy sat him down and said hey John you can go home and he says no let us take this in order of who was captured first. People believe that crap. If the enemy wanted to send him home they would have and not even consulted him,he is a bold face liar.
Now we have his side kick lying about the bridge to nowhere and all the other crap.
But we find out she is a member of GOPAC no maverick here.
The tapes from the 2000 Bush-Gore debates Palin last night was George Bush in a dress, for she said almost word for word what he said, can't people see through these phonies and this crap.
Say the same thing from 2000 and in 2008 call it change and being a maverick and package it in a dress and they think the American people will buy it because our memories are so short. When you can give people the facts and truth they won't vote for that mean old sob from Arizona believe me.

All Sarah has to offer is a smiling face and a baby to hold to help mothers identify with the party that ruined our economy.
