We do not vote for a runner-up, we vote for a President who needs to be sound in mind and body..and soul if they've got one.
With McCain being so old and questionable in health it would be a disaster if Sarah Palin became President. She is just not qualified. That is apparent to anyone smarter than a twit.
The bar for VP selections should be placed at the EXACT same level as that as the presidential candidates. One debate isn't enough. Other mandatory forums should be in place. Palin should not be allowed to "skirt" the media!!! If she were a man, she would have been laughed off the stage by now. This is beyond ridiculous - this candidate is a national tragedy!!!
VP's are required to step in should anything happen to the president, so although the exact same level of competence is not required, a very parallel competence is required if something should happen to the president and the VP need to take over. A bachelor's in journalism will not help one to make crucial national and international responses and decisions as Powell pointed out yesterday. It is further not an on-the-job training sort of position...it is the second highest seat in the United States. So I agree with both of you and I am really glad Powell addressed this issue. Normally age would not be an issue but with McCain being 72, it is a huge concern, thus important in retrospect to know if Palin is competent enough to be VP should anything happen to him.
RUSH: I went back, because I remembered something. This past summer, Gallup put out a poll, McCain needs to hammer this. It was June 27th, headline: "Americans oppose income redistribution to fix economy," by 84-13%. Hello, Joe the Plumber. "When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today's consumer, Americans overwhelmingly, 84-13, prefer that government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the job situation in the country as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans. Eighty-four to 13. This is back in June. Now, granted, gas prices were very high in June. The economy and the Wall Street mess had not yet come to the fore. It was effervescing out there. We hadn't gotten to the point where we're panicking and talking about bailouts. And in another portion of the same -- this is Gallup, now -- "Half of Americans think government is doing too much, not too little." This is the Joe the Plumber lesson.
The Joe the Plumber lesson is not who he is and not what he said. The lesson is what Obama said. But now the Drive-Bys have to go out and destroy Joe the Plumber. As I asked yesterday, how many Joe the Plumbers, Joe Six-Packs and Josephine the Plumbers are there? They are doing everything they can, the Obama campaign staff, the Drive-By Media, to destroy Joe the Plumber, and he's having some hard economic times right now like a lot of people are. They're even saying he's got this fantasy of owning a business. He's got a fantasy, as though that's not possible, who is this guy, thinking he's going to own a plumbing business. The plumber's union yesterday dumping all over Joe the Plumber about the fact he doesn't have a license or what have you. The fact is he is a plumber and he can work. They're doing everything they can to destroy this guy. What is this fantasy business? He has a fantasy. Fantasies are unrealistic, are they not? That's why they're called fantasies. Dreams are what he has, that's right, he has a dream and they're calling his dream a fantasy. I hope people are noticing what this Obama campaign is willing to do in order to win. It's a page right out of the Clinton book. You destroy anybody, including average Americans you claim to have formulated your economic plans to help... El Rush
So, you are in favor of the redistrubution of the wealth to corporations and the wealthy? Taking control of the failing banks and other financial institutions IS by definition socialism. Its' so much easier to rob a bank when you own it. That's what the repubs are all about - making a profit out of our tax dollars. Privatizing military by turning it over to your friends like the owner of Blackwater, giving no bids to companies you own a stake in like Cheney. As much as I can't stand McCain's poicies, Palin is worse and the thought of her as president is really scary with her right wing radical views on international relations, science and the environment.
Joe Biden yes Scary Sarah No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The thought is just scary and unreal
What experiance does your boy Obama have? You flap at the mouth, but you don't have any facts.
You are following a very ugly pattern but you can't be blamed since you are following one of the worse campaigns in history.
Of course! Once John Mc Cain choose Sara Palin to be his running mate I made the decision of voting for Obama, who has Biden as his running mate who would be president if something happened to Obama. In my lifetime 3 V.P. became president. Can anyone imagine Sara Palin as a world leader. She is a bimbo! The Republican Party thought that they were making a smart move & it backfired! Joe Biden could fill in Obama's shoes. She would be a hockey mom wearing lipstick! Poor choice on his part, and I may get slack for this comment, but getting pregnant in mid forties is a real problem on having a child with disabilities! I don't think that was a wise choice for her baby! She also lacks poor judgement. God help us if Mc Cain is elected, plus another 4 years of Bush! NO WAY!
ED - ANSWER THE FREAKING QUESTION, FOR PETE'S SAKE! Nobody wants to hear you spout right-wing propaganda. Take that crap to one of the many Reactionary forums available through Usenet.
What a tool!
With McCain being so old
Winston Churchill was 77 the second time he was elected, and he presided over some very prosperous times. 72 is far from being "too old" as so many Dems would like to claim.
Great News for the GOP
The Associated Press poll shows McCain down to Obama 44-42. Now, there's an interesting side light. In the last four weeks, Obama has not moved. He's gone down in some polls. He's not over 50. He can't get over 48. If you take the average of all these polls, he's at 48, and he has not moved in a month. But this AP poll, this is near journalistic malpractice 'cause I have the story. The poll, don't forget, now, 44-42, Obama. Here's the headline of their own story talking about their own poll: "Voters Souring on McCain." Obama stays steady. It's 44-42! I read the whole story. I read the entire story. Nowhere in the story is their poll mentioned. Their story focuses totally on how voters are souring on McCain, in a poll that they report being 44-42 Obama, two-point poll -- statistically tied.
Roger D:You are absolutely right. Unfortunately, there are a lot of twits out there. I keep trying to picture Ms Hockeymom winking and blinking and using such poor grammar in a meeting with Putin or Ahmadinejad (sp?). God help us all if the unthinkable would happen.
We're all twits for responding to these blogs.
Nothing but hate and anger from all of you.
Later, I'm out of here
...and it is bad enough we have had a president who uses poor grammar and can't complete a full sentence talking with Putin and the others all these years.
Whats worse than Halloween? Sarah Palin being President
Roger D: You are so right. Unfortunately, there are a lot of twits out there that forget the position she is running for. Imagine, with her "qualifications", sitting there with Putin or Al Maliki or Ahmadinejad (sp?) winking at them and trying to put a cohesive sentence together. You betcha!! Disaster doesn't even describe it. How sad for America.
If i am not mistaken didnt Obama say weeks ago that MCcain would say anything to get elected
WELL here goes Mccain stealing from OBAMA once again saying that Obama will say anything to get elected not only have you run out of lies for the Issues at hand
But you still stealing lines from Obama that is hilarious
young men have visions, old men dream dreams except for this one who has nightmares.
Only the young are visionaries? That's ridiculous.
Leonardo Da Vinci was old and a visionary. I think that younger people tend to take more chances and that they also have the energy to take those chances. They have not experienced the full weight of the world yet, so they tend to be more optimistic and open to change. These are all great strengths. But to say that only they can be visionaries is just ignorant.
It only increases how i see the VP-Pick and at this moment- the mere fact that McCain won't let Palin go under the same lens as we all put Obama under makes me give a second (actually about the 5th) look at voting another way -rather than take a chance on Palin messing with Foreign Relations (just can't see her at State Dinners)(how many ex-secretaries of state endorse her?
Everytime Gov. Palin's record comes under scrutiny it is obvious she has more executive and legislative experience than Barack Obama!
Don, you are correct. She has taken a town with no deficit and in two years it has a 26 million deficit. Her renegotiating the oil companies desire to build a pipe line. They were to pay for the environmental studies, impact fees, permits costing Alaska nothing. After Palin's expertise Alaska now will pay those at 700 K.
Yes she lowered property tax, but increased sales and gas taxes to the [point where they are now paying higher taxes in Walesa.
Yes her laxative and execution skills are on par with Bush JRs any day.
Hi Don,
Apparently every time Gov. Palins record comes under scrutiny it shows that she abused her office took advantage of taxpayers and paid off lobbiests. That's what is shows. At least Biden and Obama can tell you where Iraq or Afganastan is! Let's Gget real about this!!!
If my nephew got in a car at age 3, knocked it in drive accidently and sat at the wheel while the car careened out of control, knocking over everything in its path--would that mean he too is qualified to run the controls of a car in an emergency? Sorry, it's not just the experience that matters to me. It's the total package. And Sarah's package may be tied up in a cute little bow, but it's full of emptiness. Have you checked out the study of the pollution in her home town due to expansion? We need someone who understands the consequences for all of Americans with every option they chose, not just the few she seems to represent. Oops, gotta go, spilled my beer.
Larry,
She was elected Mayor and Governor. Obviously, she is doing something right. Obama has never held an executive position at any level. Can you honestly say that you know how he will act if he became President?
The only thing she did right to be elected is that all the governors before her were a bunch of corrupt. She critiziced them, won the election and then proceeded to do the same old thing: left her town in debt, charged the state for the travel of her children even when they were not officially invited, commited ethics violations, etc..etc. And that is without putting her on the magnifying glass... I'm sure there is more.
I can't listen to Palin speak for longer than 5 minutes without getting a headache. Darn it, dontcha know, golly, we are going to be the laughingstock of the world if she gets into office. Try as I might, I can't follow her train of thought when she answers questions or gives a speech. UGH.... She is the lowest common denominator! Obama may not have experience as governor, but at least he is intellectual and thoughtful, something we need more than ever at this point.
Why should she be viewed the same as Obama. She is not running for president, he is.
Think about...If I were to be put in a position to take over and run your household with your family living there. You would stop at nothing short to scrutinize any and everything about me and I mean everything for as long as it took...it would always be an ongoing thing with you...and if not, it should be! Because I would be entrusted with the lives of not only you but your loved ones as well. Every decision that I would make in that household would have the most profound impact on all of you....so it would be wise to put me through the microscope over and over again leaving no stone unturned..that being said picking a VP (that could actually end up being President) if something were to happen to McCain is a very dangerous thing not mention poor judgement. Its dangerous because she has been on the seen for what? 7 weeks, no one knew anything about her (and she is all of a sudden qualified to be VP because McCain picked her?) she was under investigation when he selected her and the republicans backed by McCain tried everything in there power to stop the investigation and at worst delay it until the election was over..but guess what? she was found guilty of abusing her power as govenor for personal reasons to get her ex bro in-law fired and she ended up firing the state trooper. She broke the law according to the bipartisn commitee and the state of alaska she violated the code of ethics in which she swore to uphold when shw was sworn in as govenor...she also tried to fire a libraian who would not remove certain books from the library...she eventually fired her, later she was re-instated...this is a person of vindictiveness ...someone who lied and said she did nothing wrong...but was found guilty be the committe that she had selected along time ago not to mention the state board of ethics. She new nothing abour rove/wade and could answer an intelligent question about if she agrreed with rove/wade what other cases could she name that she disagreed with..she could not answer....she said she gets alot of info by reading and Katie Couric pressed her about which articles she has read and from what book/magazine etc she could not name one! She has been on the Vp seen for 7 weeks, Obama has been on the campaign trail for 2 yrs...its a big difference 7 weeks and 2yrs...
My point is my friend, she should have been scrutinized alot harder than she was, maybe not as hard as Barak but none the less she should have been...we have no Idea what she would do/how she would perform under enormous pressure and what she would get this country into...and that my friend is scary
because she is running with a 72 yr old man who's health is questionable at best. her first requirement is to be president in the event of his death. OH MY GOD.
"She isn't running for President, he is".
WHAT?!? If McCain were elected and died while serving his term, she WOULD become president. This is why the nominees health IS important!!
Anyway, his choice of Palin as running mate has polarized his own party. He's dug a hole he can't get out of with that move. Tomorrow is promised to no one, the VP choice is important.
Definitely. Sarah Palin is no Eleanor Roosevelt.
All of you Obama supporters are blinded by his rhetoric and the MSM biased reporting. Colin Powell has endorsed BO on Meet The Press and thinks the R-party is wrong to bring up Ayers...yet if taken together with all BO's other questionable links, it all adds up to a wolf in sheep's clothing. Rezko + Wright + Odinga + Ayers + Farrakan + Alinsky + Islamic campaign support + lack of real work in the senate = NOT Qualified for what is supposed to be a Constitutional Republic based upon Judeo-Christian values...by the way Mr. Colin Powell, IRT your question of what would be wrong with a Muslim President...why don't you do some research into what John Adams thought about it...oh never mind...you would just twist it around somehow anyway...
Keep bringing up questionable ties because that's all you have to cling too right now. McCain has plenty as well but the Dem ticket doesn't bring them up repeatedly because they have a better platform to run on.
Newsmatt - Your comment is not only irrelevant to this article, but shows an immense ignorrance on your part. I just feel sorry for people like you. Having that much ignorance and hate running rampant must be exhausting.
The media is in no way biased to Obama. Check out the website "Media Matters" for some examples and plenty of proof.
IRT Bronco-656353, post 7.2...how is it irrelevant...I think Barack Obama is spiritually sick and not fit to be president more so than John McCain is physically sick...you claim that I have ignorance and hate...explain yourself...and if you cannot, be man enough to admit it...if you are claiming that I have hate running rampant, you are right that I hate sinful attitudes that only seek to slander my intentions. You are using tactics sort of like ACORN does when they are arguiing their talking points. Now in reference to post #7.1...What platform are you talking about, why don't you post a link to the two platforms you wish to compare...where in the platform do you think the R-party is going to make the country worse off than if a person were to vote for Barack Obama; I'm not clinging to the questionable ties, the questionable ties were an issue for me over two years ago, when I watch Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama in a joint appearance spouting off liberal-lradical views at a leftist conference and it had nothing to do with the additional questionable views that I mentioned in my post #7. And a PS to Bronco...if you want to create the illusion that I've much ignorance, that's fine because I'm not so arrogant to argue that I have total knowledge, nor do I have a perfect education; yet at least be man enough or women enough to admit your own subjectivity. And if I haven't said it before, I will now. John McCain may have his weaknesses, but a lifetime of proven service and scrutiny under the public eye form both party perspectives, his judgment, although fallible, just as any human being is, is more sure than the elloquance of an individual that is quite adept at selling political rhetoric...even though it is playing on the masses who are steeped in poverty. If the presidency was still decided by true electors instead of a general system of representation, the contest would be balanced, but as it stands now, large cities have an unhealthy sway over the "electoral" process and that makes the "Constitutional Republic" very sick indeed...we are talking about health issues of the candidate right...oh boy I've really messed up now...now people know that there has been a shame going on for the past 168 years!
Please give it a rest. We've heard this crap now for far too long. What does your candidate have to offer? Palin? More goodies for our rich friends? If you have no plans for the issues yourself, you make up distractions. You all have done that already. Sorry you can't see this.
Lets do be fair. Lets talk about McCain's relationships with the Keating Five. Keating, not Ayes went to prison. How about Gordon Liddy and his bombs and long time friendship with McCain. Liddy also went to prison. I don't believe quilt by association is valid but if you must, then McCain has his own problems which are more than the two I mentioned.
Reply to Newsmatt - You're an idiot. McCain has told so many lies he can't keep up with all of them. Watch his blinking eyes and facial expressions. Oh you probably wouldn't understand what that means huh?
Nevermind if you twist it around you would have the same thing.
McCain lies - Lie McCain
Carol: He offers a lot and the truth, that is why Colin Powell, A REPUBLICAN, is endorsing him. Hopefully you get your true facts before the election.
If you're talking to me. I know that. Your comment to me made no sense. I was telling the guy his candidate, McCain, had nothing to offer. And Powell endorsed Obama. Who did you think I was backing??? read it again. So explain, kjacks08.
wow, you should take something for that.
Newsmatt is typical of these hate-filled Republicans who feel the election slipping away and don't want to face the fact that the eight-year Bush/Cheney nightmare is almost over! I have a great deal of respect for Colin Powell speaking up about the fact that McCain's negative campaigning and Palin's inexperience were important factors in his endorsement of Obama. If more American voters had the backbone to reject the negative campaigning and vote against that kind of politics, the Karl Rove people might crawl back under the rock they crawled out of! Funny, it's not that easy to find someone who will admit that they voted for Bush in the last two elections, but more than half the country must have! In the same fashion, all these Republicans who fell into lock-step every time Bush/Cheney told them how they were going to vote and what was required of them by the Republican Party, all caved in! Without their support, Bush would not have been able to run this country down in so many ways! Now, they have finally had the balls to speak out against the Bush adminstration, probably just to get re-elected, and McCain falls right into this category! The ad that shows him touting his 90% voting record with Bush says it all. This "maverick" helped Bush/Cheney bring down our country, and now he wants people to forget about it. Sorry, Grandpa Potatohead, it's Obama/Biden this time!!
I agree
My apologies Carol, I just read your reply to that newsmatt's post and I was going to back up your answer and put your name instead of his since your name was in my head. Sorry!;o)
The Democrats have been very restrained about bringing up questionable ties but if you want to debate them rather than issues ....don't over look McCain's ties:
McCain needs to fully explain his questionable ties to:
Jim Hensley, Convicted Felon; G. Gordon Liddy, Convicted Felon; Charles Keating, Convicted Felon;
Raffaello Follieri, Convicted Felon; Rick Renzi, Under Indictment; Rick Davis, Freddie Mac Lobbyist;
Charles Black, Lobbyist for Dictators; Richard Quinn, White Supremist; Pastor John Hagee, Bigot;
Pastor Rod Parsley, Bigot; Todd Palin, Member of Secessionist Group;
Andrew McCain, Resigned Manager Failed Savings and Loan
None of these people have any ties to Sen. McCain. They did not preach hatred to him for 20 years, they did not bomb anything and be proud of it, they did not sell him properties for less than market value!
Don what planet are you living on? Better yet what drugs are you taking for your illusions? I want some. ;-)
I am a minority, native American, and I can honestly tell you that there were times that I felt the same way as Mr. Wright. I can tell you that I watched a show on the KKK and those kluckers all said that they felt the same way about America and how it is going downhill because of us folks of color. Parsley and Hagee preach intolerance and hatred and are Christian radicals just the same as those they preach against.
What are all these nasty people criticizing you about. Calm down Hazmatt don't these ignorant libertarians know you are the greatest living investigative journalist that ever lived. Of course they're wrong they are always wrong! Don't they know that you are going to release the greatest expose on Obama ever? Don,t they understand that you were in Bill Ayers Living room at the time and are the only one that can truly corroborate the accusations. How can they not understand that God told you Obama is Ungodly, it should be as plain as the noses on their faces.
Of course your not narrow minded, predjudiced, biggoted, racist, confused and dishonest. It's them, It's always been them. For as long as you can remember they have been out to get you.
newsmatt, Give it a rest. Jeez!
newsmatt, youre not quailified to think for yourself, McCain and his cohorts are actually worse than Obamas, McCains friends have stolen this country blind, and McCainwants to make sure they can continue to do so.
newsmatt has his head in the sand, just like most of the others who are clinging to the sinking ship that is the GOP. They have nothing left but to keep yelling the same talking points over and over again, because they don't know what else to do. If they had any self-respect and could get over their giant, selfish pride, they would start to admit to themselves that the party is not what it used to be. They would throw in the towel for this year, consider it a wash, and go back to the drawing board. They would break their party down and build it back up to something comparable to its former self. Something like the days of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Reagan. The McCain supporters who still think their party is the greatest thing since sliced bread need to take a good long look in the mirror and admit to themselves that something somewhere down the line went very, very wrong. So get over it. Pull yourselves up. And start over. When you can bring something respectable to the table, the rest of us will be happy to listen.
Over and over again. The same old things.
newsmatt, you vote your way, I'll vote mine.
...So what if a muslim becomes president?
Really? Why would anyone give a damn?
A couple of words to ponder, Keating 5. Please, it's ridiculous that McCain gets a pass on that one. He may have squirmed out of any legal ramifications, but he still was involved. And not innocently. When Ayers was doing his thing, Obama was a child. You are clutching at straws here. When you haven't got an original idea in your head to put forward to help our country in a state of crisis, you pull a "weak" association out of the woodwork and make it your battle cry. Sad, really, sad.
Everyone should obvious know that if the Prez is unable to perform his duties for a large period of time, the VP takes over. Given Obama is in better health than McCain, Palin has a larger chance of becoming Prez (whether permanent or temp) than Biden does, and given her background, personality, and questionable service, I am more worry with her being Prez than Biden. We do not need a far-right radical running this country and alienating the country further in the eyes of the world.
Yes, in the case of a 72 year old candidate with a history of cancer, who doesn't look healthy, and who asks us to accept his unqualified running mate as a replacement, if necessary.
For a younger, apparently health candidate with a qualified running mate (whose health problems haven't recurred in 20 years), no so much.
2,700 doctors nation wide have signed petitions for more Medical information about McCain specifically....wonder why...they have nothing better to do?...I think it's because as Doctors and given McCain's proclivity to melanomas...and 72 years old...they see PROBLEMS...that could...DEFINITELY put...SARAH PALIN/Todd Palin...in the OVAL OFFICE...that would be a GRAVE disservice to Americans.....They doctors CONCERNS should be the PEOPLES CONCERNS TOO....why does this seem like a non-issue to many Americans?...It's the most IMPORTANT ISSUE IN THE ELECTION...I don't want co-Presidents...McPit and her Dude in the Oval Office
McCain's age is no joke. He is 72 and would be halfway to 73 if elected and sworn in on January 20. That would make him the oldest first-term President ever, two years older than Ronald Reagan. He has survived four skin cancers (melanomas), including one in 2000 that was classified as Stage IIa.
McCain is two years older than his father was when he died suddenly of a heart attack at 70. He is 11 years older than his grandfather was when he died suddenly of a heart attack at age 61.
The United States cannot afford the risk that McCain would die suddenly in the middle of an international crisis.
Nor can we afford the risk of dementia. 22% of Americans over 70 are affected by mild cognitive impairment, while 13% of Americans over 65 have Alzheimer's. Ronald Reagan was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 83, but early signs were evident during his first term. Britain's "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher developed dementia at age 75.
McCain has never had an Alzheimer's test, even though he has 6 of the 10 warning signs , including his inability to remember recent facts like the number of homes he owns, the $1M lawsuit he filed in 1990, or the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.
John McCain owes America a thorough neurological examination for cognitive impairment and possible Alzheimer's long before Election Day.
I guess if you cannot debate policies (see Obama's lack of any legislative or executive achievements) attack his health!
Don, I am glad you post here I enjoy laughing at your useless empty rants.
Don,
What policies I have yet to hear anything of substance that hasn't been a rewording of Obama's idead.
Don, MaCains platform is so strong it has devolved into yelling socialist and communist and talking about unsubstantiated half said accusations that when brought into the light of day disappear like stinking shadows. The Neocons have nothing but fear and hate to drive their base, they feed you and yours the darkest coolaid I have ever saw anyone drink, very sad that anyone is buying into the garbage the GOP is still spewing
The thought of Sara Palin being President even for one day makes me want to hide under my covers!!
Not before Nov. 4th. We NEED you to VOTE!!! And all the rest of Obama/Biden supportors. No excuses folks!! We lost a very good Gov. once in MI because it was raining that day and 20,000 people decided it was an inconvenience. Don't let anything stop you.
Early voting starts today in Texas. Obama/Biden!
I'm voting today in Dllas and taking 2 new voters with me - 18-year-olds who have been helping the Obama campaign. Paint Texas Blue!
I 2nd Carol's statement...vote like your life depends on it....b/c it does. VA is a swing state this year and we are very excited for the possibility of going blue FINALLY. Finally I feel like my vote counts...not feeling so blue in a RED state at last.
I'm a life-long "blue" who has lived in Va since 1973. I feel like this is the first time my vote will really count. too. Did you hear the crack Mc cain made campaigning in rural Va? The one about how they were the "real" Virginians, and Northern Va. was, like not part of the state, inferring that NVa was a bunch of unpatriotic liberals...
IRT jupmod post #8, your post implies that Sarah-Palin is a far-right radical...you need to define just exactly how she is a far-right radical, does she have links to the KKK, or any white supremacist groups operating in various locations in both the United States and Canada...if I were to research it myself, I doubt very much whether I would find anything which brings me to the point I wish to make about your fear mongering...I think you are afraid of anyone who would bring biblical morality back to the forefront as acceptable behavior in this country to which I am a citizen as well as you and if you are against that, why and in what aspect does her beliefs offend you...is it the morality part or just the part where she believes that one must be born again through the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ in order to be acceptable in God's eyes...that is God's view according to the scriptures and not just some conjoured up belief of any one individual. It also says in the Sciptures that we should be more worried about what God thinks and how we are viewed in His eyes than in the eyes of the world. For God's ways are not man's ways and if you don't agree with that you have every right to disagree but I wouldn't bet on ignoring that, at your own peril. I'd rather have an elderly man, young women, or even an elderly women, or young man with questionable health that will make wise decisions based upon what is viewed as right in God's eyes, that what the rest of the world considers wise-worldly wisdom...for if God is not the builder of the house, we all labor in vain.
In other words, do you want America to be run like a theocracy? That is what Palin seems to be endorsing with her speeches. She's connected to a radical political group in Alaska that wants to see the state sucede from the USA. Heck, she's married to one. Her ethics are questionable regarding how she fires her workers under her command. You can ring up God all you want, but quoting the Bible and making religious speeches does not erase Palin's questionable background nor the smear and fear campaign she and McCain are running. I'm certain that God does not tolerate biggitry, racism, etc. since he loves all people, not just Christians, Catholics, etc.
That's right JUPMOD. Their campaign irresponsibly further polarizes this nation. It's sad and IMO very unpatriotic.
Give it a rest.
What this country needs LESS of is bible-thumpers. Blind obedience to a bunch of nonsense concocted by bigots of all types. Oh yea, I forgot, the world was created 5000 years ago and Adam and Eve fell to the temptations of a talking snake. Get out of fantasyland!!
Newsmatt,
Are we to believe that people like Palin and McCain are viewed better by God? Are you totally out of your mind? God doesn't like liars and people that bear false witness. I am so sick of people like you that carry your bibles around and try to judge other people. Get off your high horse before you fall on your butt.
Newsmatt; You are right I do not want your stinking 'morality' if has anything to do with the way GB has run our country in the last 8 years. My spiritual beliefs are my own and I think everyone has a right to thier own spin and will stand and fight for that principal if called too. In that same vain I refuse to live under a Christian Taliban which is exactly what you want. Freedom of religion should be that, keep your faith to yourself and I will mine. We do not need a theocracy, no matter what your pastor tells you. If you really want that sort of government move to the middle east and see how well it is working for them.
I will vote for Obama. McCains selection of Palin is a big reason for my decision. I have a question. Is being Governor of Alaska a tougher job to handle than being Mayor of any of our larger very socially diverse cities?
MAybe not, but I am afraid you confuse Obama with mayor Bloomberg!!
IRT Patti-639941, post #9...if that makes you want to hide under your covers, just think what a world-wide theocracy ruled by Jesus Christ is going to want to make you do...and that is what is coming eventually and it will not be all roads lead to Rome in the sense that all religions will get one to God...only Jesus Christ will save any person in His day of judgment and it will come like a thief in the night and much grief for those who do not know the Way, the Truth and the Life which is only found in Christ; for only His atoning blood can set one free from fear.
This is either a joke or gibberish.
How did we get from health issues to religion? Again if you don't have a stand on the issues, make something up. even if it makes NO sense at all. Do we see a theme here??
It might make no sense to you but this discussion thread was a set up in the first place to be biased against McCain and you know it...why was it even considered an issue...if you don't think spiritual attitude and health from a biblical perspective is important for you just say so and move on, but I won't give in to tactics used to ignore the obvious bias that this news network and other MSM networks have used to worship a candidate that they have not vetted as fiercely as they have the R-ticket...where is all the information that is out there at independent news sources that exposes the D-candidate as these networks have done to try and discredit Sarah Palin and then use that to try and destroy McCain's candidacy...
Not everyone views Jesus the way you and Palin do, and the have the RIGHT not to. So please keep your religious views to yourself and stop pushing them on others. It's very offensive. This is why there is separation of church and state.
Not everyone believes in Jesus the way you and Palin do. People have the RIGHT to their OWN beliefs. PLease stop pushing your religion on others, it's very offensive. This is why there is a separation of church and state.
And doomsday is going to happen all because of this election. I would assume, that someone as powerful as God wouldn't need an election to out the anti-christ. What are you going to do if all these doomsday, end of the world scenarios do not occur within the next 4 years? I am very sorry to tell you this, but religion has nothing to do with politics, at least at not legally, because if it did, as written into the constitution, I believe your church would have to be taxed on that, and we're pretty well clear on the idea that you guys hate taxes. I am sorry this has your religion all riled up, you aren't the first religion to feel this way, and I wager you won't be the last. Maybe this is God's way of hitting us over the head about learning how to accept our fellow man and to have a little faith. I don't know though, I'm not very religious, and this is why.
Subject at hand, I'm not going to call Palin any names, I'm sure she would be lovely at a party, but I am voting against her becoming the potential President of the US.
newsmatt: Learn to separate church from state and keep your personal religious views to yourself. And by the way, inflation of the ego is one of the seven greatest sins.
I still remember Jehovah witnesses predicting the doom and the end of the world on the year 2000. I used to discuss with one of them about it... then the 2000 arrived, then the 2001...2008... etc... and now I asked him: so, where is the doom ??? His answer? Silence. Meaning: we do not know any of G-ds plans, how dare we to speak and predict things we do not know about? Why some people thing they are holier than anybody else?? Besides, this topic is about health, not religion, and in health McCain has had 4 recurrences of cancer, if something happens to him, the most unqualified and plain dumb candidate since Mondale could be president. Now...that would be a real doom for America.
Aborted babies don't ever have to witness the ugly parts of life. There's no possibility that they'll ever become pedophiles themselves, murderers, drug addicts, white collar criminals bilking the life savings out of people, especially elderly people . . . the get a free pass to heaven and since that's what the christians are after (heaven) they ought to quit whining about it. Plus if you are a pro-lifer who is vocal about all babies being born and adopted and placed into loving homes and YOU are NOT adopting unwanted babies then YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE.
Go to Yahoo and type in: Sarah Palin hates animals. Read all you find. Who speaks for all the creatures on this planet? We depend on them for our survival. When they're gone, we're gone. This woman hates animlas. Shooting them from a plane for fun proves it.
So you think abortion is a GOOD thing, because these babies won't become pedophiles - and you think I'M crazy???? I actually DID try to adopt a couple of so-called "unwanted" kids, turns out it was only their Mom that didn't want them. Their Dads did want them, who'd have thought? Parental rights weren't terminated, so they went to their Dads. You think I'm a hypocrit, I think you're full of @!$%#.
I think forcing your damned beliefs on people because of your religion is sick and facist. I think abortion is up to the woman, her family, and her doctor. Case closed. I personally do not want some religious fueled policy dictating what I or anyone else can or can not do. What I said sounds crazy because it's just as crazy to say babies deserve life because God says so. You bet I'm full of @!$%# and so are you!
Abortion is never a good thing. Period. Obama himself said it a million times. If we can do something to avoid or help people in these situations, that would be better than the abortion. Nobody I know is Pro-Abortion. They only want the RIGHT to decide by themselves.
Now, our constitution also gives us the right to self reliance, and to decide for ourselves what is best for us. Why do you want to remove that right from a woman? Palin even supports the ban on abortions on rape cases. Is not that extreme?? Why somebody would be forced to have the child of a psychopath??
No perfect being (God) would have one human characteristic. No God would be judgemental, vindictive, OR compassionate. Those are human characteristics. There is no God. God was made IN MAN'S image, not the other way around. For God to allow one sick person to live while allowing another sick person to die and both have the same disease and the the one who lives is a miracle . . . sounds arbitrary to me. No god should be arbitrary. So either God doesn't exist (which IT doesn't) or God is aloof and inactive (as a perfect being would be since a perfect being would never be motivated to create a flawed bunch of creatures and NOT KNOW ABOUT IT and then require these creatures to worship it and have faith in it and never reveal itself), or God is very very dumb.
get back to health issues and leave God alone. I agree with the idea Palin is NOT for protecting the environment, but when you go on like this you defeat your message. Rethink your approach, please.
Question. Is Sara Palin more qualified because of her being a Alaska Governor. Is being a Governor of Alaska a more difficult job than being a Mayr of any of our larger very culturally diverse cities?
I'm not sure about the answer, but consider this...Alaska is the largest state in the country and serious environmental issues to consider as governor, not to mention border issues with Canada and Maritime International border issues to deal with...also there are several departments within a government body of which she must have a certain amount of oversight for the purpose of ensuring accountability even though she may not be directly involved with the operation of those departments...a good leader will know how to honor the concept of delegation of authority and when necessary ensure that intervention is made when a problem has been brought to her attention. Also, it could be argued that a Mayor of a large city could have similar experience but I could not tell you the differences as I've never been a Mayor, nor have I ever been a Governor, but maybe if you went to the McCain/Palin website and asked, she might explain it on a smaller scale...you could look up information on other elected officials and make some comparisons...and last but not least...if you have some concern about her being in a position such as the VP, you should not as there have been instances where individuals have been placed in that position and could be again through means other than elecions...example President Ford...went from Speaker of the House to the Presidency in short order manner...and it could happen with Nancy Pelosi as well with our current situation if there was ever an event that would precipitate that.
Newsmatt, you seem to have been cozying up to Republican soundbites for so long, that it is difficult for you to distinguish between reality and fiction. the issue here is not religion, which is surely not what you want it to be anyway (why? Because you would very effectively lose on that front) reason being, if you get off of the Republican soundbites long enough and try to read at least some of the unbiased reports from fact checking websites, you'd realize very quickly this next statement.
Sarah Palin has been factually seen on recent video getting cleansed of demons and purified from the spells of witches, fact two, she has been factually seen and heard on video speaking anti-America rhetoric, fact three, even as she was introduced to America through the Republican National Convention, her first act was to disparage the reputation and character of a man she personally has never met, now what GOOD Christian has been taught to do that?
You also seem to have omitted her blatant abuse of power and unethical activities while holding public office in Alaska, which was recently shown by proof of evidence and as reported by a commission setup and run primarily by a majority of Republican officials, one which was started long before she ever became the V.P. nominee pick by John McCain to extinguish your it was a politically biased argument before you even start it.
My last question to you, do you think God approves of the way the McCain/Palin ticket have handled themselves at any point during this campaign?
Now, stick to the article in question, which is the health of John McCain and stop trying to argue with religion using a losing and decidedly biased set of view points that have absolutely no merit in this discussion.
Finally, just a suggestion, you might want to do some actual research in all places relevant to the discussion, not just Republican websites and then post only after you have actually read the articles being discussed, otherwise you only waste everyones' time... Thank you, this has been brought to you by Alongwayback and I approve this message!!
Please tell where I can see a video showing the witches and demons being removed from Sarah
I agree, this is all rhetoric. Just like Obama, very smooth and elequent with no facts to back it up!
I would like to see facts, like Obamas medical records!!!!
I approve this message!
VOTE SMART!
