    Wary but hopeful

Democrats, due to a few recent painful disappointments, will mostly be wary at best and panicky at worst..

When one candidate's message is leadership and motivation, and the other's is nothing but negative, I have faith that voters will get it.

I am quite sure Obama will win unless there is significant voter fraud as in the last 2 elections. This is a very viable possiability.

Obama has 159 sure electoral college votes, not counting VA, NM, or CO; or OH or FL; or any tossups such as NC or MO. Just 11 more to win!

I am hoping that people feel so strongly about this particular presidental election, they will be determined to ride out the long wait, as i will...the "scare" tactics from the GOP I have read this morning towards people siding with Obama would have been the last straw for me, had I not already made my decision ...the threats, racial and otherwise are, to me, so damning for the McCain camp, had I been leaning towards McCain, they would have put me in Obama's camp... This is America...the right to vote, and to vote for whomever you feel to be the best candidate, is everyone's right and no one should be threatened, no race, no ethnic background to try and sway them to the other side...that absolutely sickens me!

I agree with your comments.  It is so sad that the GOP have taken the Rove tactics to an even higher level.  It is also scary that before Bush leaves office, his cronies that have committed crimes against American's will receive a full Presidential pardon.

The GOP is not using scare tactis they just want a fair election. The media except for FOX has been bias. You only hear what they want you to hear.

Question: Would you sit in a church for 20years over 500 sermons, get married there, have your kids baptized there with a man that say GOD DAMN AMERICIA, THE LAND OF THE US OF KKKA ect. and not get up and walk out? The person whom you are voting for Mr. Barak Obama didnt walk out he sat there. That absolutely sickens me.

Mr Barak Obama is a smooth talker and you should be scared if he is elected.

I don't necessarily agree with every thing that my priest says during mass, but that doesn't mean that I should walk out.  Perhaps mygirl34 should educate herself a bit more about the reality that Obama loves the United States, and is the best candidate for the job of POTUS.  He is a true diplomat and can bring about a much needed change for this country and they way that the world views the US.

I think your bias has prevented you from seeing truth.  What you speak of is called campaigning.  Both sides are guilty but I assume you fail to see it from the Obama Camp because you tend to believe in, or at least agree with, what he is selling.  What sickens me is that too many voters will cast a vote with very minimal understanding of what their particular candidate stands for.  We should all be fed up with campaign tactics as well as voter ignorance.  It is no longer about education, it is about persuasion.  That is the wrong approach.  I will vote McCain because I believe in his experience.  Obama is young, give him a few years to gain more relevent experience.  Then give him the job once he has proven his worth.

We need someone that is like Lincoln, not someone who is a winkin'.

I surely would not sit in a church that bashed our country and spouts racism which his does. You are disrespecting the black community stating have you been to a black church. Not all churches are like the racist Rev Wright's.

It's about what's best for our yours and my country. Barak Obama has chosen the wrong path with many people......................! I don't think that he has our best interest at heart he has his best interest at heart.

I had a white pastor that was a big racist and philanderer, and I didn't know anything about it til I had long since left the chuch. Do you know everything about your preacher / pastor / clergy? Are you 100% sure?

Beginning with Nixon, the GOP has actively developed the "art" of dirty tricks around elections.  Let's end their extremism and divisiveness.  Tampering with the vote must be treated as a criminal act.

It is amazing to me that with all we have heard about Mr. Ayers and Senator Obama's former minister, we have not heard more about Sarah Palin's minister - you know, the church where she was baptized, as were her children, and the one she attended until she got political ambitions, you remember, her minister who "blessed her against witches?"  That minister, Palin's, teaches and preaches that Jews and Muslims are "witches," which is why she had to be protected.  (With all her talk about Israel, one has to wonder whether she understands that there are Jews there?) Oh, yeah, and of course her minister also requested God to provide her with cash.  How holy.  Seems to me that between her nut job of a terrorist husband (Listen to the speech SHE gave at his secessionist group last year if you want to hear hatred for the USA) and her witch hunting minister, it would be better for all to just avoid these issues completely and try to stick to the issues, of course if your answer to the issues is just 'More of the same," I can understand why you wouldn't want to talk about it.

With most voters stating that McCain's "choice" of Sarah Palin and his smear ads are high among their major reasons for thinking he makes poor decisions, why on earth wouldn't he change his tactics, unless he had no other options?

I, for one, am so sick of this garbage - these constant personal attacks and hate filled robo-calls - that I long ago decided that a major factor in my voting decisions would be based on character, and that a lot can be learned about character by the type of campaign a candidate runs.  Guess who has taken the low road?  McCain/Palin, that's who.  Me?  I'm voting for the one who ran a clean campaign.  Yeah, That One!

BTW, for a good laugh, "Hockey Mama for Obama" on YouTube.com is terrific!

This election is not about black or white. Or creating history by electing the "First Black President." This election is not about one side beating out the other side, or attacking the Christians in this country for having a more conservative view. It is about electing a person for the Presidency.  A person that has the character, qualifications and ability to properly fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the President of the United States, and Commander and Chief of our Armed Forces.

Once the election is over, all the rhetoric and glittering speeches over, everything will depend on performance. Obama would be facing huge challenges, domestic and foreign.  It is admirable the Democratic Party, Youth of this Nation and Black Community want to make history with this election. However, what will it do to these groups credibility in the future when Barack Obama cannot make good on his campaign promises? Ask yourselves, as senator that was very ineffective while in the senate, is very inexperienced on domestic and foreign policy; how is he going to create all the change he has been promising? No, what you will have is a few token improvements in the beginning; then Barack Obama’s written agenda’s and policies will shift into gear.  So, let’s discuss some of those.

Barack Obama wants to give a credit refund check to most Americans. Exactly how is this going to be paid for? Obama has stated by taking 15 million dollars from Medicare programs.  These programs cover prescriptions, in-home-care, and electronic wheel chairs for the elderly. Basically, you are willing to throw your elderly parents and grandparents under the bus, for a refund check.

Second, Barack Obama states he will only raise taxes on personal and business incomes over $250,000.00. (Now, he is stating this is revised to over 105,000.00). And Barack Obama is saying he will raise payroll tax to cover these refund checks. Exactly how will this not affect 95% of Americans? Businesses will raise the price of their products to cover the tax, and in about 6 months to a year, your employer is going to let you go. Why, because he/she can’t afford the higher payroll taxes.

Currently, businesses pay about 35% in income tax. Barack Obama’s tax increase will raise this tax to 50%. However, another tax Barack Obama’s plans will be raising is the Death tax. Think about all those hardworking farmers, restaurant owners, gas station owners, or corner grocery mart. Your grandfather dies and now your grandmother’s death tax has been raised from 35% to 55%, under Obama’s planned tax increase. So much for passing on the family legacy, your family will be lucky if the family home isn’t sold to help cover the tax increase.

So, let’s talk about the other “changes” Barack Obama has been promising. Performance is where Barack Obama has nothing to show for his political career. Not as a Senator in Illinois or in Washington. He has repeatedly missed committee meetings and refused to take a stand on numerous issues and cast a vote.

Policies that Obama proposes under the banner of “change” are policies that have been tried in other countries and failed. Politicians taxing and telling a business how to operate?  That’s been tried in countries around the world, and failed so badly that even socialist and communist countries like China and Russia have begun freeing up their markets. After countries like China and India began freeing up their markets, and got rid of similar government control policies that Obama is advocating, the economies of India and China began to take off with a high rate of economic growth.

Obama wants to put restrictions on international trade to save jobs at home? That was tried here with the Hawley-Smoot Tariff during the Great Depression. Unemployment jumped from 9 percent to 25 percent within a decade.  Why? Other countries refused trade with American products, companies and jobs were cancelled.

Barack Obama talks about “Spreading the Wealth Around” from higher taxes.  This has been tried in socialist countries.  The government increased taxes on small, medium and large hardworking companies. This redistribution of wealth turned into a redistribution of poverty. Consider impoverished Russia, prior to the collapse of the Soviet Union, as a prime example of this failed policy. Production in these countries fled to other countries and economic growth was stifled by lack of personal and business incentives.

However, the economic disasters resulting from Barack Obama’s naïve policy “changes” will pale by comparison to his naïve stance on Foreign Policy. Even members of the Democratic Party have repeatedly stated that Barack Obama’s stance on meeting with world leader adversaries “without pre-conditions” is not only politically naïve it is dangerous. Senator Barack Obama’s naivety and political inexperience was never more evidenced than when he called Iran “a small country.”  This bitter irony will be faced by Americans living in the shadow of nuclear threat by Iran that cannot be deterred.

Iran and their Fundamental Muslim Terrorist Allies have called Israel “the black dog that must be wiped off the face of the earth” and America and Christians around the world, “the great infidels and whores that must be destroyed.”  Iran, Syria, and other Al-Qiada terrorist countries, hide behind the support of the Soviet Union and the threat of nuclear counter-attack.

The real issue here is suicidal fanatics cannot be deterred. They are willing to die for their cause and we are not. And because we are not, we are at their mercy, or their non mercy. Once countries like Iran achieve nuclear weapons, this then becomes a situation that cannot be reversed. Not in this generation or in generations to come. This is the legacy we will be passing on to our children and grandchildren, by voting for a candidate, such as Barack Obama, based on style and symbolism, rather than substance.

The dangerous naivety of Barack Obama is this concept that these catastrophe’s can be deterred by sitting down and talking to terrorist leaders in Iran and the Al Qiada. History is attempting to repeat itself. When country after country fell to Hitler during WWII, it was primarily because each government’s politicians believed Hitler and the Nazi’s could be reasoned with and a peace could be negotiated.

In a nuclear age, one country does not have to send troops to another to conquer it.  A country can be conquered if another can dictate who rules it or is elected, by fear of reprisals. An example of this, was Osama bin Laden threatening retaliation against US cities if citizens voted for George W. Bush.  Osama bin Laden was unable to back up that threat because he didn’t have access to nuclear weapons at that time.

Americans can’t conceive what this can mean, because America has never been a conquered country. However, here is an example you may be able to relate to. After France was conquered by the Germans in 1940; this country was reduced to turning over its’ own Jewish citizens and Christian Sympathizers, to the Nazi’s to be killed. The Democratic French Government felt it was better to sacrifice the lives of these groups than have its population terrorized and destroyed.

Do you think our leaders wouldn’t turn on our own here in America? We already have. At the end of World War I, the US Government ordered the Army Calvary to ride down and kill military veterans, their wives and children rioting outside the White House.  Our government had promised military soldiers jobs and $600.00 cash for their military service and then refused to honor the promise to the military.

Relating this to modern day, do you think our leaders would not turn over Jewish or Christian communities to fundamentalists terrorists; if the alternative was to see a Nuclear Mushroom Cloud over New York or Los Angeles? Any Christian or Jew in this country shouldn’t want to bet a vote on it.

This is what makes Senator Barack Obama’s stance on negotiation with our Adversaries so dangerous. Middle East fanatics don’t just want our resources and human lives; what they want first is America’s humiliation. To Middle East fanatics, negotiations “without pre-conditions” are a sign of weakness.  Leaders of these countries and groups have already openly acknowledged Barack Obama’s inexperience and promised “testing him within months of his taking office.”

In essence, extreme fanatics already do not fear Barack Obama and see his presidency as a way to bring down the United States and “Infidel Beliefs.” This type of extreme philosophy has been evidenced already in the sadistic ways the fanatics videotape beheadings and the eager viewing market they find in the Middle East and other “hot spots” around the world.

None of these issues ranging from our decayed economy to foreign affairs can be prevented by glib talk or inexperienced promises of change that Barack Obama offers. I have no animosity toward Barack Obama, and respect his passion and historic bid for the Presidency. However, wanting to be President and truly qualified to be President are often two different things. Only John McCain, a President of character, courage and experienced decisive actions has the qualifications to change the current course of this country.

I'm not persuaded that Joe the plumber is a better endorsement than the many prominent republicans who have crossed party lines to endorse Senator Obama. Senator McCain has said the fundamentals of the economy are strong. So I will agree with Senator McCain when he said he didn't know much about the economy.  In Iraq Senator Lieberman had to lean over and correct McCain on the Sunnis. In a recent interview the Senator seemed to think he would need preconditions to talk to Spain an ally. He also thought Spain was in South America. He was the biggest cheerleader to get us in an unnecessary war. Senator Obama has warned us about  Afganistan while  Senator McCain ignored it because it wasn't in the newspapers. Senator McCain is too old and has not released his complete medical records. His vp  pick of Gov. Palin shows a political decision over what is best for this country. His SNL skit has it right, Sad grandpa.  Senator Obama has shown an  ability to unite Americans while McCain and Palin seem willing to say anything to get elected. Their lies has been refuted count less times on CNN and MSNBC and even Fox.  Too many voters will get their information from these smears ads and not educate themselves. That is what the GOP is counting on! 8 years of the GOP greed and incompetence is enough. Senator Obama has a positive message that includes creating jobs and energy independence.  He reminds us what another young man told us " Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country." Senator Obama has already proven his worth by reminding us we are all Americans, not red states or blue states.

Do you know any words besides moooo and baaaa?   You've allowed your fear to cause anything sounding scary the GOP throws at you to stick.   That's what sheep and cattle do--run away as a group from something just because the others are doing it.

By the way--Here's something scary that HASN'T been thrown at you in this election even though it should have:  John McCain is one of five crooked politicians responsible for covering up and standing up in defense of the criminal (Charles Keating) responsible for the single largest financial institution failure in our history up until now.   The Savings and Loan scandal of the 1980s.   Want to talk about scary friends and acquaintances?   McCain chose to take money and vacations from Keating while purposely blocking the investigation that found him crooked and dirty.  McCain has publicly said he's sorry, of course, and deeply shamed by it all, but compared with the Rev. Wright stuff you're talking about?   You ought to be much more deeply frightened by an actual history of personal corruption in the service of government, right?   That's John McCain.   Oh, and remember, if he dies in office--a PTA mom will be running the largest free nation in the world.   If where Obama went to Church scares you more than THAT fact does?   You're plain ignorant.

Team Work - If McCain's "experience" shows he makes decisions that are bad for America or just opposite of my ideals, then, I don't see how experience is a good thing.  Tested - and having the wrong answers is not a good thing.  I will go with the "inexperienced" candidate who speaks of uniting, not dividing, this country.  How has a health care plan that will not take more money out of my already tight budget.  Who will help me to get my children health insurance - because my employer will not cover them.  And who says we are ALL TRUE AMERICANS and we ALL deserve representation within our government.

And Obama said "spread the wealth". --- See, sound bytes.  Believe everything you hear, do you?  Look up the entire context.  He was talking about reversing the Bush Regime economics and tax breaks - the "trickle down" politics of the rich getting richer through tax breaks that never reach the middle-class.  He believes in giving everyone opportunity.

Choosing Sarah Palin means he panicked and sucked up to the scariest people he could find in our country--rabid, hate-spouting, choose to be intolerant, hate-mongering  fundies-just like the fundies anywhere---

Obama is the future. Hurrah that we HAVE ONE! Time to take care of people who actually do the grind in this country. Not the elite or the helpless, but the guts of this country. The black, white, brown, yellows, not the blue and reds. I am fed up with hearing about the right and left-the Dems and Reps, reds and blues. I am an American. I am a veteran, a woman, a senior, a grandmother, a taxpayer, a humanist, a liberal, college-educated, under-employed, living close to paycheck to paycheck. We vote!

Are some of these people kidding? Fox News is not bias (did they really get that out with a straight face)?

Policies tried in other countries did not work? What country just used 700 billion dollars of taxpayer money to bail out wall street?

What country pays China to manufacture its goods? Then borrows its own money back from China and pays interest on it!

                                    NY Girl-

The Fox Propaganda Network is the right wing media arm of the current White House and the RNC.  The fact you claim they were the only non-biased news source is proof that you don't go there for "news", but rather go there to have your ideology stroked and comforted.  I feel sorry for you in that your paradigm has been horribly skewed.

The truth is that the Main Stream Corporate Conservative Media (MSCCM) has given way too much time and credence to the slimeball attacks levied by the McCain/Palin ticket- particularly Palin.  They also spent the last week trying to stoke an undeserved McCain "comeback" by just mentioning the word everyday.  The AP was particularly disgusting in this respect- even going so far as to issue a poorly conducted poll showing the candidates almost dead even in the face of all other polls saying otherwise.  Turns out that poll had twice the number of evangelicals than voted in 2004 by percentage.  It was irresponsible for the MSCCM to even issue that poll result.

As usual, you neo-cons blame that "liberal media" myth for all your failings.

I'm not too concerned about Fox or the GOP propaganda machine.  A majority of American's have finally awakened from their drunken X-box and "America-Idled"- induced stupor over the past 4-8 years and are starting to realize they are being robbed blind.  Those outdated tactics are failing miserably.

What concerns me the most about tomorrow is that not much has been done about the corrupt pre-programmed electronic voting machines with no paper trail and no accountablility.  All built by companies such as Diebold, ES&S, and Sequoia Voting Systems.......all big GOP donors.

Until these machines are eliminated by legislation, or they are mandated to be transparent and thus we are allowed to review their algorithms, then nothing can be taken for granted.  The GOP is not going to give up their much cherished power easily- upto and including cheating.  Voter turnout is the only way to purge these people from the political landscape.

Wright and David Duke spread anger.  You sound like an angry woman and to think that Obama will bring the country down is really sad.  Bush was suppose to be for the people and we have been screwed.  Now McCain can't even say how he would help the middle class, but you want to talk about Rev. Wright as if Obama is a racist towards white americans.  Please remember nygirl, it is called the White House, but it was built by black slaves.  You are a sad case nygirl.

then look at your candidate and compare and contrast! dont take the erratic approach and attack attack it shows how far done and out you are and it shows how ignorant you are and how much substance you have for obtaining and educated decision!

El Rushbo's Gut Starts to Speak!

CALLER:  The reason why I called is I was one of those liberal Democrats that, about ten years ago, thought himself entitled and a victim to my life and my choices and woke up one day with an epiphany that my life is predicated on all the choices that I make and that freedom and choice are the greatest pillars that I could possibly possess.  And as a result, I am now of course a Republican, but what I understand about that freedom and choice is that I am responsible. I must take ownership of every choice that I make, I must be response-able to each one of those choices, and I alleviate and eliminate the victim mentality that I was living in, that I see so many Democrats living in right now.

RUSH:  Do you know what the source of this epiphany happened to be, what caused this?

CALLER:  I wish I could pinpoint one particular thing, but it wasn't.  It was an inspiration from listening to a variety of people, reading a variety of people --

RUSH:  You can admit that it was me.

CALLER:  (laughing)  Well, part of it was you, part of it was a couple of my best friends, Dan and John, that were amazingly supportive during difficult times in my life, my parents, who are both passed away now, some of it's been you, Thomas Sowell, John Locke --

RUSH:  Sowell, that's fabulous.  That could be all that anyone would need if they could read Thomas Sowell.  You say this happened ten years ago?

                                    CALLER:  Yes, sir.

RUSH:  Could you compare the past ten years with your life prior to this epiphany?  Just in terms of your outlook, your contentment, your happiness, all these things that all human beings want in life.

CALLER:  I'm glad you asked that question.  My life is so much more joyful now.  It doesn't matter where I'm at in my life, I'm a happy guy.  I don't look to other people or situations to make me happy.  All of my choices make me happy.  I don't confuse a difficult choice or an undesired choice with no choice at all.  I always have a choice, and as long as I live in this nation and I have freedom to make that choice, my life can be absolutely spectacular.  And it is.  I mean just recently I moved back to Arizona and I am part of a start-up company.  I have a terrific boss that I just absolutely think is amazing, I work with some incredible people, and it's a small business that's, you know, just start-up, it just is a start-up this year, and I have great hopes for it.  But I'm not attached to the outcome, because I realize that I keep making choices, so if one choice doesn't work, I go to another choice, and I accept all of my choices.

RUSH:  That's excellent because what you're basically saying is opportunities are endless, and it's up to you to exercise the access to opportunities.

CALLER:  Equality is opportunity.  Equality isn't me earning the same amount as you, Rush, or anybody else, equality is the opportunity, and I went for that opportunity.  I went to college when I didn't think I was going to.  I started very late, in my thirties, I went for scholarships, I went for loans, I pay my loans back.  I took responsibility, I made sure --

RUSH:  Yeah, but before the epiphany happened, were you envious of people?

                                    CALLER:  Yes.

RUSH:  They got to you with the class envy, I mean you would be happy if people you thought who had more than you somehow got hurt or harmed by a government policy?

CALLER:  Absolutely.  Because what I did was, I was living in an idea of shared suffering, that if I suffered, you had to suffer as well, and if you're one of those rich people, that you got it all and I don't have it, somehow I want to make sure you're suffering so that you can endure the victimization and suffering that I'm doing.  I don't live in that anymore, and it's obviously sick behavior.

RUSH:  Well, congratulations.  I'm glad you answered these questions honestly.  I'll tell you something, Greg.  Earlier this week or late last week, there was another -- and these are pretty common surveys on happiness in America, and they found even now, I mean with the status of the campaign, that, quote, Republicans, conservatives, whatever you want to call them, twice as happy if not more than liberal Democrats are happy.  This is borne out by anecdotal evidence.  When I run around and just see people.  I mean you can tell who's angry and enraged all the time and people who are happy and having a great time and are optimistic about things, even during times like this.  I mean this is not an ideal time for Republicans to be happy, but overall, their outlook on life is far more positive, particularly conservative Republicans, than people on the left.  It's totally understandable to me why, psychologically, and you just explained it as well as I've ever heard it, and I'm glad you called.  That was Greg in Scottsdale.

                                       NY girl,

I'm sorry to say that most people here "drank the Koolaid". You can easily tell by the hostility in their comments, and their absolute refusal to listen to anything that is not totally pro-Obama. The brainwash job by the mainstream media has worked. Just look at the comments above and that will follow this post!

Hopefully some here can see the truth before it's too late. The future of America depends on it. There are so many reasons to look very carefully at the inexperience of Obama. There is zero argument about it. With a super-majority House and Senate the corruption will run RABID, and the blame game will begin.

How will Obama pay for all his programs without raising taxes? It's impossible! The economy is in the toilet (courtesy of (D)-Barney Frank). What good will a tax cut do if you don't have a job or a place to live??? You think a $500 check is going to pave the streets with gold, not where I live!

Forget the picture the press has painted. Think about his radical ties, arrogant comments, unwillingness to disclose viable information, and of course inexperience. Is this the man you want GOVERNING YOU'RE LIFE?

What planet do you hail from?  Seriously, you've got to be blind and deaf in order to make such a statement.   "fair"?  Using fair and the GOP in the same sentence?   Hope you don't go anywhere near the polls.  You're in for a rude awakening tomorrow.  McCain's scare tactics (not to mention his dumb choice of Palin) caused republicans to cross over to voting democrat in droves.

McCain and the republicans couldn't possibly cheat enough to win this election.  They would be taking a tremendous risk if they chose to do so.  It would not turn out as believable as Ohio in '04.

Funny how republicans are scared of a democratic majority as being "tyrannical", "corrupt", and "unchecked".  Guess it was okay when  the republicans actually DID participate in this behavior when they owned everything- particularly 2004-2006.  They nearly destroyed the nation entirely.  We will be paying for that for many years to come.

Translation:  It's okay when republicans control all branches of gov't, but not democrats.  Does GOP hypocrisy know no bounds?

                                          To Barack Hussein Obama,

The New York Times carried a story on Saturday, October 4, 2008 that proved you had a significantly closer relationship with Bill Ayers than what you previously admitted.   While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

The Chicago Sun reported on May 8, 2008 that FBI records showed that you had a significantly closer relationship with Tony Rezko than what you previously admitted.   In the interview, you said that you only saw Mr. Rezko a couple of times a year.   The FBI files showed that you saw him weekly.  While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

Your speech in Philadelphia on March 18, 2008 about 'race' contradicted your statement to Anderson Cooper on March 14 when you said that you never heard Reverend Wright make his negative statements about white America.   While your attendance at Trinity Church for 20 years is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on March 14.

In your 1st debate with John McCain, you said that you never said that you would meet with the leaders of Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea without 'preparations' at lower levels ... Joe Biden repeated your words in his debate with Sarah Palin.  While the video tape from your debate last February clearly shows that you answered 'I would' to the question of meeting with those leaders within 12 months without 'any' preconditions.  While your judgment about meeting with enemies of the USA without pre-conditions is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America in the debate with McCain.

On July 14, 2008, you said that you always knew that the surge would work while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you stated that the surge would not work.   While your judgment about military strategy as a potential commander in chief is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on July 14.

You now claim that your reason for voting against funding for the troops was because the bill did not include a time line for withdrawal while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you voted against additional funding because you wanted our troops to be removed immediately not in 16 months after the 2008 election as you now claim.  While your judgment about removing our troops unilaterally in 2007 is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about your previous position.

You claim to have a record of working with Republicans while the record shows that the only bill that you sponsored with a Republican was with Richard Lugar and it failed.  The record shows that you vote 97% in concert with the Democrat party and that you have the most liberal voting record in the Senate.  You joined Republicans only 13% of the time in your votes and those 13% were only after agreement from the Democrat party.  While it is of concern that you fail to include conservatives in your actions and that you are such a liberal, the greater concern is that you distorted the truth.

In the primary debates of last February, 2008, you claimed to have talked with a 'Captain' of a platoon in Afghanistan 'the other day' when in fact you had a discussion in 2003 with a Lieutenant who had just been deployed to Afghanistan.  You lied in that debate.

In your debates last spring, you claimed to have been a 'professor of Constitutional law' when in fact you have never been a professor of Constitutional law.  In this last debate, you were careful to say that you 'taught a law class' and never mentioned being a 'professor of Constitutional law.'  You lied last spring.

You and Joe Biden both claimed that John McCain voted against additional funding for our troops when the actual records show the opposite. You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted against funding for alternate energy sources 20 times when the record shows that John McCain specifically voted against funding for bio fuels, especially corn - and he was right - corn is too expensive at producing ethanol, and using corn to make ethanol increased the price of corn from $2 a bushel to $6 a bushel for food.   You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted like both of you for a tax increase on those making as little as $42,000 per year while the voting record clearly shows that John McCain did not vote as you and Joe Biden.  You lied to America.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted with George W. Bush 90% of the time when you know that Democrats also vote 90% of the time with the President (including Joe Biden) because the vast majority of the votes are procedural.  You are one of the few who has not voted 90% of the time with the president because you have been missing from the Senate since the day you got elected.   While your absence from your job in the Senate is of concern, the greater concern is that you spin the facts.

You did not take an active roll in the rescue plan.  You claimed that the Senate did not need you while the real reason that you abstained was because of your close relationships with the executives of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Countrywide, and ACORN - who all helped cause the financial problems of today - and they all made major contributions to your campaign.   While your relationship with these executives and your protection of them for your brief 3 years in the Senate (along with Barney Frank, Chuch Schumer, Maxine Waters, and Chris Dodd) is of concern, the greater concern is that you are being deceitful.

You forgot to mention that you personally represented Tony Rezko and Acorn.  Tony Rezko, an Arab and close friend to you, was convicted of fraud in Chicago real estate transactions that bilked millions of tax dollars from the Illinois government for renovation projects that you sponsored as a state senator and ACORN has been convicted of voter fraud, real estate sub prime loan intimidation, and illegal campaign contributions.  Tony Rezko has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to your political campaigns.  You personally used your political positions to steer money to both Tony Rezko and ACORN and you used ACORN to register thousands of phony voters for Democrats and you.  While your relationships with Rezko and ACORN are of concern, the greater concern is that you omitted important facts about your relationships with them to America.

During your campaign, you said: 'typical white person.'  'they cling to their guns and religion.'  'they will say that I am black.'  You played the race card.  You tried to label any criticism about you as racist.  You divide America.

You claim that you will reduce taxes for 95% of America, but you forgot to tell America that those reductions are after you remove the Bush tax reductions.  You have requested close to $1 Billion in earmarks and several million for ACORN.  Your social programs will cost America $1 Trillion per year and you claim that a reduction in military spending ($100 billion for Iraq) can pay for it.  While your economic plan of adding 30% to the size of our federal government is of concern, the greater concern is that you are deceiving America.

The drain to America's economy by foreign supplied oil is $700 Billion per year (5% of GDP) while the war in Iraq is $100 Billion (less than 1% of GDP).  You voted against any increases to oil exploration for the last 3 years and any expansion of nuclear facilities.  Yet today, you say that you have always been for more oil and more nuclear.  You are lying to America.

Mr. Obama, you claimed that you 'changed' your mind about public financing for your campaign because of the money spent by Republican PACs in 2004.  The truth is that the Democrat PACs in 2004, 2006, and 2008 spent twice as much as the Republican PACs (especially George Soros and MoveOn.org).  You are lying to America.

Mr. Obama, you have done nothing to stop the actions of the teachers union and college professors in the USA.  They eliminated religion from our history.  They teach pro gay agendas and discuss sex with students as young as first grade.  They bring their personal politics into the classrooms.  They disparage conservatives.  They brainwash our children.  They are in it for themselves - not America.  Are you reluctant to condemn their actions because teachers/professors and the NEA contribute 25% of all money donated to Democrats and none to Republicans?  You are deceiving America.

Oh Mr. Obama, Teddy Roosevelt said about a hundred years ago that we Americans should first look at the character of our leaders before anything else.  Your character looks horrible.  While you make good speeches, motivating speeches, your character does not match your rhetoric.  You talk the talk but do not walk the walk.

                                          1.  You lied to America.  You lied many times.  You distorted facts.  You parsed your answers like a lawyer.

                                          2. You distorted the record of John McCain in your words and in your advertisements.

                                          3.  You had associations with some very bad people for your personal political gains and then lied about those associations.

                                          4.  You divide America about race and about class.

Now let me compare your record of lies, distortions, race bating, and associations to John McCain:

War hero.  Annapolis graduate with 'Country first.'

Operational leadership experience like all 43 previously elected presidents of the USA as a Navy Officer for 22 years.  26 years in the Senate.  Straight talk.  Maverick.  54% of the time participated on bills with Democrats.  Never asked for an earmark.

The only blemish on his record is his part in the Keating 5 debacle about 25 years ago.

Mr. Obama, at Harvard Law School, you learned that the end does not justify the means.  You learned that perjury, false witness, dishonesty, distortion of truth are never tolerated.  Yet, your dishonesty is overwhelming.  Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty that caused the impeachment and disbarment of Bill Clinton.  Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty of Scooter Libby. You should be ashamed.

Mr. Obama, it is time for us Americans to put aside our differences on political issues and vote against you because of your dishonest character.  It is time for all of us Americans to put aside our political issues and vote for America first. It is time for America to vote for honesty.

Any people who vote for you after understanding that you are dishonest should be ashamed of themselves for making their personal political issues more important than character.  Would these same people vote for the anti-Christ if the anti-Christ promised them riches?   Would they make a golden calf while Moses was up the mountain?   Would they hire someone for a job if that someone lied in an interview?  ..Of course not.  So why do some of these people justify their votes for you even though they know you are dishonest? Why do they excuse your dishonesty?  Because some of these people are frightened about the future, the economy, and their financial security and you are praying on their fears with empty promises and because some (especially our young people) are consumed by your wonderful style and promises for 'change' like the Germans who voted for Adolf Hitler in 1932.  The greed/envy by Germans in 1932 kept them from recognizing Hitler for who he was.   They loved his style.  Greed and envy are keeping many Americans from recognizing you.  Your style has camouflaged your dishonesty, but many of us see you for who you really are and we will not stop exposing who you are every day, forever if it is necessary.

Mr. Obama, you are dishonest.  Anyone who votes for you is enabling dishonesty.

Mr. Obama, America cannot trust that you will put America first in your decisions about the future.

Mr. Obama, you are not the 'change' that America deserves.  We cannot trust you.

Mr. Obama, You are not ready and not fit to be commander in chief.

Mr. Obama, John McCain does not have as much money as your campaign to refute all of your false statements.  And for whatever reasons, the mainstream media will not give adequate coverage or research about your lies, distortions, word parsing, bad associations, race bating, lack of operational leadership experience, and general dishonest character.  The media is diverting our attention to your relationships and ignoring the fact that you lied about those relationships.   The fact that you lied is much more important than the relationships themselves - just like with Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon.  Monica Lewinski and Watergate were not nearly as bad as the fact that those gentlemen lied about the events.  Your relationships and bad judgments are bad on their own - but your lies are even worse.

Therefore, by copy of this memo, all who read this memo are asked to send it to everyone else in America before it is too late.  We need to do the job that the media will not do.  We need to expose your dishonesty so that every person in America understands who you really are before election day.

Mr. Obama, in a democracy, we get what we deserve.  And God help America if we deserve you.

The only thing that sickened me about this election is having Obama shoved down my throat by wealthy celebrities with off shore bank accounts who think they know anything about what it means to be an American and the media elite with their selective reporting.

If you are voting for Obama you are:

                                            • a willingly ignorant fan of his eloquent but meaningless speeches

                                            • voting for him because he's part black

                                            • don't care to do any research of your own, think for yourself, and only rely on the tv commercials and what the media tells you

                                            • you're a closet communist with no belief in God hoping to be part of the higher end of the collective by indoctrinating our youth (Bill Ayers) (Frank Davis)

                                            • or brainwashed by your college professor who is the one above (like Obama was).

The character and world view of a potential leader of this country and the world is of the highest importance.  How do we know someones character and world view?  By looking at their past.  What they've accomplished.  Who they've been influenced by.

More Americans are dying from gun fights in Chicago then Iraq.

The irony is that Chicago — thanks in large part to Barack Obama — has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation. Which, as we all know, only restricts the legal ownership of guns by responsible, law-abiding citizens.

What scare tactics are you talking about? The truth is that Obama has terrorist ties and they funded his harvard education. his cousin and father are both real nasty people. he even has the suport of terrorist in iraq.  rev wright was his pastor for yrs. he didn't hide his racism he openly preached it and obama stayed by his side.  i saw it when obama said he was going to spread the wealth. i saw the  speach when bidden said obama was going to be tested and it was not the supposedly chopped version that obama claims the republicans did to twist biddens words. obama changes his stance on the issues every time the wind blows. his tax cut has gone from people under $250000 down to $120000.  these are obamas own words.

I hope when people go to the polls they remember what Communism and Socialism really are. Its when the Government hands out to the elite class and the rest of the country stands in bread lines. Thats where the repugs have us now. Get real and open your eyes.

Jesus and Mans law are two seperate things. You so called Christians ought to know this. I am not even a beleiver and I picked up on it. What part of Jesus is the new testament dont you understand. Preaching love thy nieghbor and hate do not mix. Love thy nieghbor does not mean the guy next door. But all faiths and all of your Gods children. We live in America where Church and state are seperate. Our Forefathers understood this. To mix the two would make us just as bad as a socialist party.

So this should mean that if you vote your Faith and play God you are no better than. What your Jesus spoke against. Vote the truth not your Party line scare tactics.

It is sad that in a country that supports the right of every citizen to vote for the candidate of his or her choice, some would deny that right by using scare tactics and untruths in order to win. I believe that Obama and his campaign have taken a higher road in this election, and that has helped to secure my vote.

Name calling, disrespect and inciting people to condone physical harm to a political candidate have no place in a democratic and free society.

The fact that Montana, North Dakota, and Arizona are in play for Obama should worry McCain.

I don't think McCain has done a good enough job to win over the independents or conservative Democrats.  Plus I don't think he's totally convinced his own party given how many Republicans have endorsed Obama.  I can't remember a time where so many from the opposing party have publically endorsed the other candidate.

I can't remember when people have publically endorsed someone from the opposing party either, but then again I can't remember when people have fought so nasty and tried so many dirty tricks.

I am sure the nastiness plays into the party hopping, but I wouldn't count anything as sure until Wednesday.Don't be overconfident, go VOTE.

Election day is Tuesday, 4 November 2008. Do not let them try to give you a provisional ballot, don't let them try to tell you it is on Wednesday. If you have a video camera or a phone that does video, record any sort of shenanigans as they happen and report it to the police and the news.

Exactly.  Keeping government out of what should be personal decisions IS what we need.  Marriage (gay or straight), abortion, sex, family, religion, etc.  are all very personal decisions in which our government should have no say and should not deny access to.  You (and the government) have no right to dictate that your beliefs are more important or "right" than mine.

BTW - law abiding citizens do not own "weapons".  A weapon is something that is used by a criminal to harm another.  The second a firearm (or knife, pipe, tree branch, etc.) becomes a weapon is the same second it should be taken away and the user put in jail.  I have no issue with the sporting use of firearms.  I actually enjoy using them myself.  I do however have a problem with weapons.

If human life was turely cherished, only those medically necessary abortions would be done. Our system is set up to reward the high preformers rather than ensure that all will succeed. If we did show that ever human life is indeed sacred we might be on a course to end abortion by choice. That would be nice. If we understand that that we have made the 5% rich by identifing 95% as unworthy poor performers, we might begin to raise a just society.

You all have it wrong.  Obama can end the war in Iraq, bring the troops home, stop all terrorist plots with diplomacy, completely save the economy, give everyone their homes back, cut taxes, give us all clean energy, stop the greenhouse effect, save the ice caps, walk on water, give everyone ice cream on Fridays and finally give us the answer to how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop.  He sounds like he is running for class president with all of these promises.  If you are dumb enough to believe that every thing that is wrong with the world was caused by Bush or that Obama can swoop in and fix it, you are an idiot.  There are far to many factors that define the way of the world.  Our president is only one of them.  Manage your expectations and open your eyes.  We need an experienced individual in the head office and Obama is not it, yet.

He is trying to keep the "American dream" possible. Please understand that no one but Jesus Christ can walk on water and you are delusional for using that analogy. Get informed. American's are tired of working so hard for nothing but higher taxes, the threat of losing their jobs, homes and retirement. We have worked to hard to have a rich, non-caring Republican who only will get richer, come in and tell us what my values should be, while their pockets become heavier and the average American pockets get lighter. Look at what experience has gotten us so far. Wake up!

Barack Voter you are delusional, the MESSIAH will cureit all. You will be so sad, when you realize he is only a MAN. The American dream will not be handed to you by the government it was never meant to be. This country was founded in the believe that you make, I repeat MAKE your own dream and achieve it by your own means. Affluency is not a one party disease , look at the democratic party and who the richest members of the congress are, who is backing OBAMA? Are all those multimillionaires willing to give up half their take and I don't mean the factory owner who took 20 years to make his money, but the Hollywood elite that made 12 million in 1 movie.

No, we Obama Supporters are NOT delusional!  And we know full well he is not the Messiah, see what we understand is, he wants to pull us all TOGETHER to do the hard work TOGETHER!  So we are not trying to get one man to make a magical fix, however we UNDERSTAND his rational that together as a team we can make things better for this great country.  And as far as the government "handing" over anything.  Who pays the government's salary?  WE THE PEOPLE DO and so we have a RIGHT to expect something in return for our hard earned money.  See republicans like to overlook certain truths.  If we pay taxes, every single day, we should expect some compensation.  Our health care system is a killing joke!  Insurance companies are the doctors who tell you, me and our sick loved ones whether they have a right to live or die based on whether or not the insurance company is capable of finding any loop holes in their rules & guidelines.  How did we end up at the mercy of insurance companies?  Because of republican deregulation.  A doctor will tell you, well I do think you should stay in the hospital 3 days, but your insurance company says you should only stay 1 so, that's it!  This is SICK and were we are.  So the alternative should be universal health care so doctors are able to do their jobs with no reference or consequence of someone's insurance carrier.

It works all over the world except in our money hungry, your life means nothing U.S. of A.  Obama wants to fix this and if for no other reason, you may need to take another look at the man's mission.

Why I feel sorry for the Republicans this year:  They have a candidate that they (truly) only feel luke warm about.  Their VP pick is a complete joke.  They (if only they could admit it) are more excited about defeating Barack Obama, and all of us who support him, rather than building up their own candidate.

I was just at an Obama rally on Saturday here in Missouri.  Their were 40,000(+) of us in attendance.  There were no anti-McCain, or any home made signs for that matter, even allowed into the rally.  It was a class act all the way.  Twice the crowd tried to "boo" McCain and Bush.  You know Obama said..."no, don't boo, just go vote".  He could have easily let things escalate, but didn't.  It will be so great to have a president that I will be proud of again.  We got to see them as a whole family on stage.  The open affection they all have for each other was great to see.  I see my small family in them.

GO VOTE!!  ONLY ON NOV. 4TH!! DON'T LET ANYONE TAKE AWAY YOUR RIGHT!!!

Take comfort in the long lines of early voters, the people willing to stand outside for 8 hours!  Consider the number of sporadic voters making it to the polls this time, the number of first time voters of all ages voting early and bringing their friends.  The time for change is here again, this election will break records and set new records.  Consider the bellweather chart of the top three states that have correctly chosen the President: Nevada, New Mexico and Illinois.  Senator Obama presently leads in the polls in each of these states.  I live in Kansas and we generally solid red, but the number of republicans voting for Senator Obama is pretty amazing this time around.  Midwestern Voter...a moderate  for Obama!

Hey, abortion is ALREADY legal, in case you missed it.  It is none of your business unless YOU are pregnant. Then it is UP to YOU to decide what to do. NO one else should have the call.  I am NOT PRO- abortion. I think it is terriblel-but so is having a baby you don't want. Try that sometime.

Gay rights are human rights-they HUMAN-SEE? What you get, I should get-no matter who I sleep with. (Even if I don't want to watch, I am glad people have lots of sex. It is GOOD for you.)

Most people who have guns also have good sense. Then there are idiots who give a child a machine gun, or drink and hunt at night and kill pet goats. Then there are people who have guns for protection or as a collection. Good fro them. Then there are millions who have illegal guns, felons, maniacs- There need to be laws to protect people from idiots.

I said something similar a week or so back in a discussion about Palin, but after reading the posts on that topic I began to feel quite lonely. These diversionary tactics to get people arguing about everything BUT what is really crucial in today's America. Once we get the economy back on track, address our foreign policy blunders and make our country safer again, THEN we can argue about Roe V.Wade and Gay Marriage till the cows come home. (Of course, the cows are married lesbians and their calf Lesbianna is pregnant and isn't sure what to do...)

I agree with some of what was said about both candidates, but I am not voting for Obama because of what he stands for.  I learned this last week that he taught Constitutional law at a college and now he wants to go in and change the very laws of the land that gives us the freedom to make our own choices.  I am voting for McCain not because he is the ONE who will change it all, but I believe he will hold to fundamental moral values.  Sodomy is wrong morally, and so is Abortion, they are not theocratic issues they are MORAL issues.  The largest percentage of pedophiles are Sodomites.  Not to mention they were not born that way, in most cases you will find they had someone drawing them into that moral depravity, whether it was by molestation or other.

Abortion should be done away with, yes the child may be unwanted but aside from rap victims, they made the choice to have sex, and for the rap victims as well don't punish the innocent child for somthing they had no control over.  If you are of the sort that thinks the fetus is not alive or that it does not "Become Alive" until the baby exits the mother, how many dead things have you seen and done teasts on that have become alive given long enough opportunites in a well managed and healthy environment?  No woman or man for that matter has the RIGHT to say this child dies because I don't want it.  That is morally wrong.

You can vote any way that you want to, but know this, it is not up to the president to determine who should be rich and who should not, nor is congress to pass laws limiting how big you can grow in the economy.  What government is for is to enforce the moral laws on those who refuse to abide by moral laws.  I have nothing to fear from the authority as ling as I do what is morally correct, and if you don't know what that is go back to what the founders of the United States said was right.  Take their word for what they meant in the Constitution about representation in government and how bad big government would be and why they declared and fought against England and its regulations that limited their freedoms to prosper and worship as they pleased within the confines of moral values.

On this pre-election day and tomorrow before you vote, get a dictionary and thgen pick up the CONSTITUTION of the United States of America and see what we need to do to ensure a free America for our future generations.  Obama wants everyone to have healthcare, but what he is not saying is that by any examination you and I will be paying double what it would be if we got it ourselves.  Nationalized healthcare has not benifited anyone, call a few people in Canada and see what they have to say about the system, and how much they pay in taxes.

                                                            Please don't vote Obama

My brother was car-jacked and subsequently paralized by an armed (unregistered) gunman. Ironically he shot an armed (unregistered) gunman entering his home several years later from his wheelchair. He is a (registered) gun owner!

#1 - YOU should read the Constitution.  It is designed to provide what is called "negative" rights - rights provided by what the government WILL NOT do - such as limit your freedom of speech, your right to bear arms, not house soldiers in your home, etc.

The Consititution was written as a LIVING document meaning that it could be amended (with the consent of all states) as our country grew and matured.

You state the Consititution provides us with the freedom to make our "own choices," yet you go on to state several things that limit choice.

Perhaps you should also read some laws created by Congress and signed into law by the President - laws quite frequently have an effect on the wealth of particular groups (earmarks are notorious for that).  The tax reduction that Bush & cronies put in place for his base "the haves and the haves more" is an example of that.

It is not the job of government to enforce "moral laws" - you need to see your minister on that one.  It is the job of government to enforce the laws enacted by that government and to provide for the needs of its citizens for those needs that individuals or individual states cannot perform - such as national security, treaties with other nations, etc.

The health care that Obama proposes is nothing like Canada's.  His proposal is not a single payor systed (like Medicare - anyone in your family on that?).  He's in no way trying to cut on the insurance industry from making a reasonable profit, but he wants them to provide insurance to everyone who wants it (and make it affordable), and to force carriers to cover pre-existing conditions.  The goal is the more people that are insurance, the more the risk is spread (like your car insurance), and when there are more to share the risk, the premium can be lowered.  You chose your own doctor and your own insurance carrier.

Now if you want to talk about the Consititution - your rights have been reduced in the last 8 years by Bush.  In laws passed by the Republican Congress after 9/11 and in one signing statement after another we have lost habeous corpus and the right to privacy among others.

I want the Constitution back and I want the hypocritical Republicans that have hijacked my government out of office until they rid themselves of their divisive politics and extreme right wing leanings.  What happens between you and your church and God belongs in church, not in our government.

The "we" you refer to as being "stunned" in 2000.  2000 must not have been the benchmark in 2004, then.  Were "we" stunned then, as well, when Bush had a comparably larger victory in 2004 than he did in 2000.

Obviously, I'm not one of the "we" you refer to.

As far as the polls go, the Obama big lead in the polls didn't happen until the news in September about the Fannie and Freddie fiasco and the resulting Wall Street failures.  Suddenly, Bush has been bad for his whole 8 years.  Apparently, not enough believed that in 2004.

The rhetoric in this election from all sides (democrat, republican, independent...et.al.) has been as much ridiculous as the historic value the result of this election will record.

Wade can't be overturned.  Obama/Biden are for gay rights, but are against gay marriage.

                                                                        Here's a dirty little secret:

Repubs don't really want it outlawed - they just want your votes."

darn right, BJs65.  The religious folks are played like a fiddle every election year.  Abortion, gays, and guns..........are WEDGE issues, very useful for the politicians to win over the masses of religious folks.

NOTHING will ever be done about them! Abortion will never be made illegal.  NOBODY will ever take your right to own a gun away from you.....ever.

oh, and being gay is not catching. It isn't a disease. Contrary to what your freaking holy book says, it isn't a "sin" or an "abomination".  Your disgust stems from a combination of fear and the "ick" factor .  Get over it.  Homosexuals have been here since time began.

Politicians like to get your emotions running, get you all steamed up, so that you'll vote for them.  Got it?

What part of "global warming" don't you understand. We can do a big polluting dance to try to make burning carbon less lethal. It is a better idea to pursue non-toxic energy. The strip mine appeals to those who strive for dominion over the earth. The earth doesn't care about ideas or what looks good on a corporation balance sheet. It is a system that we have screwed with and is now showing us how strong and stable it is.

To Mygirl34, what may be your truth blocker or the reason you are so skeptical is because you DO watch Fox News!  Fox news as everyone knows is the most racist, biased and unamerican network there is in the U.S. of A.!!  They are strictly for the upper crust, captialist society that cares not for middle or lower class America!  Fox News is pretty much owned by the Bush Clan and so if you are getting your information about Obama from them, it is unfortunate because you are getting faulty data.

Check out MSNBC or CNN, read Time Magazine or something that is a little more objective in thier journalism.  Fox News is not even considered news but it is a cult, brain washing tv station at best.

If you are at all informed, you would know that Obama is sincere in his desire to make this country a place were we ARE ALL ONE together, not divided.  I do have one question for you though....  Do you ever, ever hear McCain talk about assisting anyone other than the "small business owners"?  He does not talk about his health care plan because it is crap.  He does not talk about his tax plan because it is crap!  He was endorsed by Dick Chaney for pete's sake!  That says much in itself!  Dick Chaney made himself rich during his time running the country in the ground, with Bush being his puppet.

Try to be a little bit more objective, or better still..  Just wait and see how Obama fixes things, because he will.  And then you will be able to sigh a sigh of relieve as your life improves and no will say, I told you so...  we will all just be happier!

                                                                                      Peace!

BTW-  Fox?  Ha!  That Sean Hannity is a real paragon of truth telling.  And all their polls remind me of the tobacco industry research that showed smoking isn't harmful.  They'll be shown for the fiction they really are on Tues. night.   They just had to tell you a hopeful story for the GOP to keep the conservatives glued.

Common sense moment here - Do you really think Obama, while campaigning in a coal town, would say "My energy plan will put all of you out of work."  "My plan will cause fuel prices to go through the roof."??????  Think about it!  Then, go to one of the factchecks that are readily available online to anyone who wants to think for themselves (I don't think FOX has one) and see what was really said.

Pot - kettle - black.  Time after time McCain has made one accusation after another that he himself has done or has done something similiar.  Like his association with G. Gordon Liddy.

And let me tell you, the joy I felt as I turned in my Obama vote. Never before have I felt so strong about a candidate and the direction this Country needs to go. As Obama says, "power will not give up easy", or something to that effect. We should never put the Republican voter suppression methods behind us. They will do all they can to make sure you don't vote. Tuesday, the lines will be long, your patience will be tested. Please don't give up. Please don't get lazy. Please don't assume anything. We must have a large turnout in order to combat the Republican suppression tactics. If you get out and vote we can win. We can take back our Country from the ones who reward the rich, and say screw you to the rest of us. TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY!! VOTE OBAMA!!!

It was nice to cast my vote for Mr. Obama, though in my opinion the real agent of change is Dennis Kucinich. What i really enjoyed was NOT voting for the Incumbent who voted to pass the BAILOUT! Though i have been a lifelong Dem, i could not in good conciseness vote for Mr Wu again. Do NOT re-instate any one who voted for this bill. Obama supported it and so did McSame and the only reason either got my vote is that my candidate encouraged me to support Obmama. Don't get me wrong voting for Obama was a good thing, but his support of the BAILOUT was WRONG!

I moved to Oregona a few months ago. I filled out my ballot as soon as it arrived in the mail and sent it off a few days after that.  So nice to be in a state this election where I was able to read up on the propositions and really check out the wording of them and not feel pressured in the polling booth for taking long trying to get it all straight and maybe getting confused over the language because of the time factor.  Also nice to not have to wait in lines, especially since I'm nine months pregnant!

Maybe after this election more states will go to mail ballots.  No machines that can be tampered with and you can take the ballot to the courthouse yourself if you want to if you don't feel comfortable mailing it back.  It seems like a very smart system.

As you said, "This is the beginning of a long recession."  What will keep that "long recession" from becoming, as I said, "...continuing recession pushing into depression"?  My prediction is, with Obama as President, and with both the House and Senate becoming "rubber stamp" democrat majorities, may possibly mirror the FDR period in history; the "new ideas" (New Deal) did not resolve  an already depression economy but only extended the Great Depression until WWII (Roosevelt's 1st TWO TERMS) in office.  There was even a recession within the deprression (1937).

The "short term selfishness" I eluded to in my original post evolved from my belief that voters supporting Obama believe that recovery will be swift based upon Obama promises such as "spreading the wealth by decreasing taxes on the middle class and increasing taxes on (the wealthier)".  They (voters who are dominantly middle class and low income) think that they are going to get richer overnight, hence, my "short term selfishness" comment.  I think successful recovery requires collective improvement in capacity for everyone to invest and/or spend, not just attempts to better the middle class.  For those who think I must be one of the rich that Obama will increase taxes on....Not.  Far from it.....

I totally agree with you that neither McCain nor Obama are the cause of the current "crisis".  But I also do not believe that Bush is the cause of the crisis.  Despite the campaign rhetoric that the "Bush Tax Cuts for the rich" are part of what "put us in this mess", I challenge anyone in the middle and low income classes to show that they haven't benefitted significantly in their comparative federal income tax bills since 2001 and the acceleration of the 2001 tax cut legislation in 2003.  I doubt that many middle and low income people would say today they would rather not have had those tax cuts that were virtually voted "NO" by nearly all of the House and Senate democrats in both 2001 and 2003.

                                                                                                  {"commentId":3866847,"threadId":"407497","contentId":"2066664","authorDomain":"jayanddeb1"}

So for those naysayers of Obama, and other Democrats of whom we need to elect, this is the only solution as to how best to govern in a global market and make America what it once was. We have lived through 8 years of a Republican Presidency, with a Republican lead Congress for the last 11, of the 13 years and we are due change.
