There's no such thing as God.  God is supposed to be all perfect (which means God has no human traits such as: vindictiveness, arbitrariness, judging, joy, hate . . . )  McCain wants to be president because of ambition and he has some serious daddy issues.  Obama just wants to set things right and help people.  And this spread the wealth talk needs to stop.  Bottom line: the rich need to pay up their fair share.

Ever heard of Rob Bell?  Google his stuff called "Nooma" and watch a few on youtube.  Not saying it'll change your mind about God, but it clears up alot of tarnish that wild-eyed psycho Christians (includes: you're a fool! poster) tend to dirty up their faith with.

That said, if it were a moral question, I don't think McCain is all that bad a guy.  Honestly.  But I'd much rather see Obama's couth attitude at the helm, considering the rough waters we are in.

No perfect being would have anyone's interests at heart because that is a human characteristic.  God, a perfect being has NO human characteristics, traits, etc.  To feel anything is human.  A God would feel no anger or compassion.

Scriptures?  Written by a bunch of crazy people.  There were mystery cults that featured a savior ascending to heaven blah blah blah.  There were many other people claiming to be the son of God or a prophet at the time of Jesus.  It's all Paul's and Augustine's (who was a Manichean and a lover of whores) and Constantine's and Theodosius II's fault.  God was invented to explain existence because people were too stupid to understand existence otherwise, and it seems they still are.

When you place something you have no empirical evidence for in a position of reality of realness . . . and try to convince me or anyone else of it . . . TALIBAN!  You are no better than the Taliban.   There's more evidence for UFOs and Ghosts than there is for God.  And pointing to scriptures is about as stupid as pointing to an easter basket or a christmas tree for proof of the easter bunny and santa claus.  Humans invented those just like they invented all the nonsense (Gilgamesh anyone?) in the bible and the Koran and the Torah.

You just can't see that everything you have said shows you are basing your views on positions and facts that most of us see as completely wrong. It is what happens to narrow minded fools who trust in belief systems for irrational reasons. It is what happens to those who can not reason at all.

You are bound to be incorrect in almost every situation for your whole life.

The only real shame of that is that you can't do it quietly. You need to run around chanting USA waving you bible, thumping your chest and showing, loudly, just how someone like you acts to make a point...

Take off the dark glasses and the funny hat, and listen to someone different today. Obviously you're on a liberal web site. Why?

Read some of the commentary and think (if possible) what others have written. There is something afoot here that is much bigger than your current view. The world as we know it is changing from mechanistic to systemic processes, including leadership.

Step into the 21st century. There you will find a world leader named Obama, respected by virtually every culture on this earth, save those who respect no one.

I voted for John McCain because he has far more experience and does not still around his house with terrorists. He has no problem letting you and I know how he received his education and that he has always been and will always be a United States citizen. So most of you out there must not realize that Obama got his funding for college from the same people that bombed the twin towers and killed Americans. Obama has not been a US citizen his entire life either. Most of you need to get your facts straight and realize you are voting for a Muslim to run a Christian nation. That is what we fought the Revolutionary War for, but thats ok because most of you do not care to know the truth. You just see a black man (minority) running for president that supposedly will lower your taxes. Well good luck to this nation if that man gets elected.

To: "Anyone but Obama"...Barack Obama is not of middle eastern descent...his father was from Kenya...that's in Africa...and is "middle eastern" descent a bad thing?  There are plenty of patriotic American middle eastern folk that live here in this country...and plenty overseas that want democracy and to see this war ended.  Remember separation of church and state.

OMG!!! Do you people never stop?!!!! The lies are still spewing out of so many people's mouths. Give it a break!!!  I grew up with a Dad who was a preacher and I voted for Obama. And am glad I did!!! He is not the Messiah nor the anti-christ, nor a muslim or whatever lies have been spread about him for meanspirited, angry, hateful, and yes I am going to say some racist people. What he... is a man, USA Citizen with message for change in this USA, a new direction, new hope that is looking out for the middle class, small businesses finally after 8 years of the rich getting richer, greedy getting greedier that has led to the current crisis on Wall Street that has filtered down to Main street. And the division that McCain's campaign caused is right here in these comments, we are allowed our opinions, thoughts and comments and having the respect that we deserve to for those comments but we own it to others to show them the respect as well. We are all people of the USA and each of us want our candidate to win. But due to this campaign and if you are truthful most of it lies with the McCain/Palin not only will the new president have the current problems in USA to deal with but the healing of the people of the USA due to the hateful, ragefilled presidential campaign that it has divided people to this extend. God Bless America and the Next President of the USA.

Even if I am wrong I'll still get to step into Heaven because if God does exist then God wouldn't be so stupid to deny someone who didn't believe only and grant it to a pedophile even if that pedophile repented and asked for forgiveness.  That's just crazy.

This election isn't about God or any other diety.  This election is about bringing in someone who will not be afraid to do the right thing, who will not falter in the face of adversity. McCain is not that person, he has faltered throughout this campaign. He has made so many missteps that it is obvious he is not prepared for the challenge.  Heroism is admired, but not a qualification for leadership.  Obama has remained steadfastly planted in the present with a keen vision of the future.

You betcha, what I don't like is that Obama said that he wants to follow in Bill Clinton's footsteps. this means that the Clinton Medicaid Estate Recovery program that Takes family farms away will be expanded by Obama.  The "socialized " healthcare plan is to expand this to take more city homes away from familys who have a Social Security recipient as the home owner. This law was from 1996 and Joe Biden was an important "player" in this and the 1995 gun ban "crime bill". you vote for Obama/Biden you might get them and lose your home. your children will suffer more if you die before you can change ownership of the property.  the states call this the "state" Medicaid Estate Recovery Program . this is why democrats want to give Illegal aliens Drivers licenses so that the chance that you will get hurt will increase and you will have to use medicaid or medicare to get treatment after the accident. (and so they can vote.) and to YOU Kathy the "Change" will be from YOUR property to Government property.  wise up. look it up.

i mean its starting to sound like you think you know what he is thinking and also how you percieve information is simular to how much you endorsed the pick of Palin... which was the biggiest joke of this election

John, the few among us realize that not only will our lives be affected in a very negative way if Oboma wins, but almost anything we value is at risk. While those who do support Oboma believe otherwise, the disappointment for them will be far greater than for those who support John McCain. The world is rooting for Oboma to win, but it is not for the same reasons the American people who voted for him do.

These pro-obama people are funny. THEY are calling the pot black. Hillary Clinton called it a "vast right wing conspiracy" when the real fact is that it was the TRUTH.  I challenge anyone of you Obama supporters to prove me wrong.  the Brady bill which Joe Biden called a "crime" bill was just a gun ban like the one the supreme court found to be "unconstitutional". Now, more Title 42 chapter 1983 usc, violations if Obama wins. and No One can use a law to deprive you of your Rights.  even if you don't know what your rights are yet.  I betcha, all of you who voted FOR obama this time WILL be voting against him in the next presidential election. if you want your rights you will. your right to own real estate. like a home, a farm, or a condo.

I haven't read all of these posts b/c I'm trying to remain optimistic, although I'm sure plenty of hate can be found above...

I read reply one and I just find logic like this silly. First, if you have to scare people into voting for your candidate, that's not a good sign that they have much to offer the country besides four more years of fear. Secondly, why do some turn to "the terrorists" to guide our election? I heard McCain argue that since bin Laden said Iraq is the central front, that's a reason to stay there, he's trustworthy suddenly. But when al qaeda endorses McCain, it's b/c they're playing reverse psychology and they really want Obama?

I want Obama to win. He's run the best campaign, he's had the most to prove and rose above and beyond the challenge, and he's had the greatest impact on America. People voting for McCain are voting against Obama. People voting for Obama are (for the majority) voting for positive change to come into effect for our country.

Let's get ONE thing straight !! it is not Obama it is the truth. Joe Biden wants to continue to persue the laws that the republicans stopped during the past four administrations. I am an Independant NOT a republican. I was a Democrat untill the democratic party "changed" <----- I do not aprove of the civil and criminal acts. by either party but the republicans are the lesser of the two evils right now. you can believe it.  Obama said that, He "wants to follow in Bill Clinton's footsteps". Joe Biden,Hillary and Bill Clinton, John Kerry,John Edwards, Colin Powell, ALL said in public that, Barrack Obama "is not qualified to be president". They said it during a lot of the debates and public apearances.  it is not MADE UP or lies. Obama did lie too many times. I cannot, in good faith, support anyone who Lies that much. rep or dem or ind !! some of my best lifelong friends are black, hispanic and other americans. NOT semi-american. If you call yourself african-american you degrade yourself. Are you American or Not? would you set a bomb in the capitol ?  Obama's "good friend" (as per Obama ), DID, and you can't see through the bull race fog. he is NOT QUALIFIED not my opinion. just fact.

As bad as I want Obama to win Im scared of the reaction that people will take if they feel that their "Freedom is at stake". Just know I have reviewed and reviewed and reviewed McCains proposed policies and changes and honestly it WOULD NOT BE ANOTHER 8 YEARS OF BUSH IT WOULD BE WORSE. The rich will continue getting richer. the poor poorer, soldiers dying (possible draft), the sick sicker. Open your brain, not your eyes and just look at the facts. Im not saying that everything Obama states is good and perfect but I am saying he is the better of the two evils.

Tired of everyone saying we don't know about Obama.  He has been in the vetting process since his '04 DNC speech.  Then even more vetting when he announced he was running.  YOU ARE SO STUPID TO THINK THAT MCBUSH AND AILIN PALIN HAVEN'T TAKEN A FINE TOOTH COMB TO OBAMA??  How stupid of you.   WE need change in America. I for one am tired of the GOP, Greedy Old Party.  WE need someone with a brain in the white house.  Cowboys and Mavericks need not apply.  Been there and done that.

We already voted for Obama/Biden.  He is smart and will seek input from others if he needs advice.  Something the shrub couldn't/wouldn't ever do.  Good riddance to the GREEDY OLD PARTY.

God will support a country that does as Jesus taught, Love God and love each other.  THAT'S IT.  You were told to take care of the least of these.  Anything else and you are "too much in the world."

The church will lose because you have lost sight of what Christ told you to do.  God IS making a judgement here and you are one's who have followed false prophets who have turned you away from the love of Christ.

Maybe you'll repent and go back to taking care of people.  Or maybe you won't and you will continue to live in your sin.

                                Anybody but Obama,

Have you done lost your mind or are you just a victim of some fool's deceitful misuse of God's word??

As a black Christian voter very much in support of Obama I take a serious offense to "Christians" misusing my God's word for their own hate-filled ambitions! For you all to suggest that now that we have a black candidate with strong chances of becoming president of OUR nation he must be the anti Christ, for you to diminish his value like that is very insulting! Heck why no one ever said that about Bush, after all he is the one that protituted the word of God to sway voters as does Palin, they have misrepresented God in every fashion imaginable. What say about that? God does not use lies, hate and fear to accomplish his objections! It is true that whomever is elected will be ordained by God for whatever reason he chooses, whether to bless or curse a nation, but God does not use Satan's methods nor does he encourage us to do so either! Though God may very well want us to do away with abortions, gay marriages and many other things that are against his principles he will NOT have his children incite hate against each other, lies against a fellow Christian nor fear of unknown. All these things they have done!!!

For you to say that the word of God even leads us to a man of the Middle East shows that you are NOT STUDIED in what you profess. Now out of all the years I HAVE STUDIED the prophesies I have NEVER heard such, But if you will not take my word on this then take the word of even the Republican Christian leaders such as Pat Roberson, John Hagee, Jack Van Impe and many others that will tell you to expect this anti Christ to come from a European Nation! They have been saying this for years upon years! Who are you studying with? I study with these and others as well as by myself! I do not agree with them on a lot of things, but I do appreciate their knowledge of the word of God and do not appreciate them being attacked because of their faith. There are so much about God that WE do not understand, his ways are not our ways so I really try to be very careful before I speak against anything or anyone, but I do study for myself and trust God to lead me so that I am not mislead and strongly urge all to do the same!

Barack Obama in no way fits the description of the anti Christ! If his appeal to the millions is what confuses you then consider this that MILLIONS have SUFFERED under the hands of the Great Republican Party!

Barack Obama has stood before the world professing Christ as his Savior and Lord, he has told you that he is a Christian, now unless Christ himself tells you otherwise YOU are guilty of a great crime against Christ in saying that Christ has not accepted him! If you have studied you would have found that the anti Christ will NOT profess Christ as Lord, BUT will profess himself as such!!!! The anti Christ will NOT baptize his children in the nave of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit! The anti Christ will NOT abide by God's holy union of marriage!

The anti Christ will deceive people by urshing in three years of false peace, before he reveals himself and claim HIMSELF to be God!

I do agree a lot of prophesies have been and are being fulfilled in keeping with the word of God and that the time for this anti Christ to position himself are close, but there still remain some other prophesies to be fulfilled before he is positioned to take his place AS BEST AS I CAN UNDERSTAND!!. For one thing the temple has not been built in Jerusalem nor has the wall, they are only just talking about building both.  Remember the anti Christ will sit himself in the temple and proclaim himself God? It is NOT OBAMA! DO NOT BE DECEIVED WITH FEAR, HATE AND LIES!!!!

The anti Christ will have a great appeal, this is true, but he is more likely to be a Republican than a Democrat if he is to come from America which I do not believe he will! I believe he will come from Russia. Remember according to prophesy Russia & China will be the two super powers! The one world order still needs to take place with America's money losing it value! These are just some that I and many others have been waiting for for about 15 years now and they are just now taking effect.

If you are truly interested and need scriptures that back up these things please feel free to email me OR better yet you can go to the sites of those I've listed and many others to see that what is taking place now throughout the world has be foretold about in the bible and are not just things that we are coming up with off the top of our heads as they appear!

I do realize that many will not be accept this for different reasons, but that really does not matter to me, it does not change the word of God one way or the other, but I am addressing those of you that proclaim to be Christians, but are distorting the truth for lack of understanding or  deliberate reasons such as to scare voters from Obama!

That is the Kind of attitude America can no longer afford.  I served in this countries military for years and my wanting Obama to win does not make me or anyone else an enemy to the state.  In fact it is you who would be considered an enemy to the state.  You are calling people who don't believe as you do an enemy and thats not what America is suppose to be about

If Obama gets elected, we will know what living in hell is really like.

I JUST WATCHED JOE BIDEN ON NBC TV NEWS BROADCAST VIDEO. HE WAS SHAKING HANDS WITH SOMEONE WHO WAS STANDING IN LINE WAITING TO VOTE AND JOE BIDEN WAS SAYING, " ARE YOU READY TO HELP US WIN IN THIS ELECTION?". this is ILLEGAL and it is called ELECTIONEERING . nothing will happen just as nothing is happening about the ILLEGAL campain contributions that Obama got from Japan. if that was a republican there would be an arrest made. look at these people who you are voting for, they don't care about the laws. they care about getting your money. biased law enforcement? Do any of you care about honest government? or is the "go d d am america" a democrat standard now. WAKE UP PEOPLE, THEY ARE CROOKS.

Why would anyone who works for a living want their wealth "distributed?" At least if McCain is elected the whole country will be safer. Obama has never served our country nor does he have the knowledge to do so. Only lazy people who do not want to work for a living should vote for Obama. At a time when small businesses - which make up 90% of America - need tax breaks to hire workers and keep competitive, Obama does not support that. Small businesses drive America and if we are going to get out of this recession, McCain is the answer, not a pro-union, socialistic liar.

PA 4 - You have been fed a real potent pack of lies from the master....Carl Rove. I'll bet you didn't know that Rove and his team, who helped elect Bush, also arranged the McCain campaign. McCain was a maverick 10 years ago, but has gradually fallen in with the money-power seeking Republican machine. I am so very glad I voted for Obama/Biden. That ticket will go a long way to keeping us safe and bring back the prosperity we've lost through the last 8 years.

I could have this election go on for years more if it weren't for the savagery from the side with nothing to offer. It's too frightening to endure.

The new line is wealth redistribution & socialism. Most ppl barking these lines don't even know what "socialism" consists of. I've never heard such a heated debate over taxes, so funny. The majority of the people complaining don't even fall into an income bracket that wouldn't benefit from tax breaks. But instead they listen to extremely wealthy people like Limbaugh convince them that they are gonna go for broke if the wealthy don't get tax breaks...

                                        sheep.

I hope everyone who voted Obama/Biden remembers that if they win this election,  our support doesn't end at the polls.  Anyone who has been listening to Obama should keep in mind that we will be called upon to help push this country forward, not just with our vote and words but with action.

I also think that starting tomorrow work begins also for election 2012.  Everything about the next election will hinge on what we do this next 4 years.  If we want real change every day of the next 4 years is going to count.

YES you betcha "cracker" I voted for BARACK and am a "cracker"! NO regrets! Race does NOT matter. If you want to get technical, Barack is not 100% "bro" anyhow, or did you fail to realize his mom and grandparents are "crackers" too. But like I said before, "bro" or "cracker" it really does not matter. BARACK is qualified. Character, integrity, intelligence, poise, polish, his ability to unite people. Plus he has had a great team of people in his campaign. Very professional and put together. What a professional package! The world is waiting for a leader they can respect. (Bush ie: "Lame Duck", has been a joke to the world and frankly an embarrassment to the U.S.) Barack give us hope, hope that has all been washed away in war, deficits, incompetence, ignorance, unintelligence, poor choices and HUGE mistakes the past 8 years. The world wants Barack and NOT another Bush in a McCain body. And Palin a possible President? Really? Is THAT a joke? BE serious here! China, Russia, Pakistan, Iran, etc would chew her up and spit her right back out. Or worse, she can you see HER taking a phone call from someone claiming to be Putin and she made the decision and executed pressing the NUKE button? Ugh! I am am GLAD that all whites do not all share common threads. THAT I am elated for.

Curious, if you have ever read a history book, that's what was said about a leader voted in to change another country, Germany, 1938, the non-citizen was a well spoken statesman, promising change and a stronger Germany for all. We all know how that turned out. Those who fail to learn from history ar doomed to repeat it. Like you have repeated several years of grade school. Have you read the constitution of the United States of America(not the Obama version) and all of it's articles? Why this nation was founded and on what principals? Own a company, and look again at what Mr.Obama wants to do under his "plan". Under it I will be forced to lay off 1700 workers in 3 states. He wants big government to take care of it's people? But out of work people can't pay the taxes to support his plan.

Oh, please, david phd...your attempt to compare Obama to Hitler is as empty and vacuous as every other post of yours I have seen here. Just admit that you are frightened out of your little mind that you and your fascist conservative friends might not be able to throw rocks at those you hate from behind jesus' apron for very much longer.

And as far as your promises of layoffs...sounds as if your business is and has been shaky for a while. Stop laying the blame on Obama's plan, when it's your business plan that has failed.

Hmmm, "learn from history" you wrote. You might want to check the date that your hero Adolph Hitler was elected in Germany before you start professing your historical knowledge. And yes, I have read the Constitution, all of it. Not just the part that most interests me ( I am sure you are holding dear to only the 2nd amendment), Like the parts about "due process." You are obviously a poor manager of your business or just unlucky due to the economic downturn resulting from George II miraculous reign. For this I am sorry for your 1700 workers. It might be a bit premature to blame it on someone else at this stage.

I shudder to think where and in what subject you earned your PhD.  It certainly wasn't in history.  Hitler was voted into power in 1933 not 1938 (he had already taken over Austria and Czechoslovakia by then).  And to compare Obama to Hitler is just ludicrous.   Obama, if only because he is non-Aryan, would have been shipped off to a concentration early on by Herr Hitler.  And where, pray tell, can I find a copy of this purported Obama version of the U.S. Constitution?  I know it won't be on FactCheck.org.

Yours is just another pathetic attempt at fear mongering by unsubstantiated  association - the Republican Party's dirty campaign tactic of choice.

Perhaps the first thing will be the repeal of the MCAIN / feingold campaign finance reform law.  Obama went for the big business money from the "bailout" recipients too.  I can just hear it now, from Obama, "go d am america" again.!. Obama is a 20+ year true believer of that sh t. what did Ayers REALLY do? the fund raiser that Michelle Obama held last week had a lot of recipients of the 700 billion dollars and more who want a 50 billion dollar merger of two car companies to be paid for by you and me. 25,000 to Obama for 50 billion? cheap.and it only cost you your future and your kid's future. ( the obama effect is already showing up. on saturday I went to the atm at my bank and got a receipt for a withdrawel and NOT the money.  we will see the jury's decision.

David PhD...  Here's a radical idea for you.
If your business cannot do what it takes to take care of its employees, then let the market prevail.  That's what Free Market Caplitalism is all about. You have no God given right to own a business.

Frankly, if you expect us to cover your losses with our tax dollars, then you should give us back some of our tax dollars when you are doing well.  Sorry if your "Socialism" only goes one way but hey....life is hard, right?

to DBar,  and how do we take care of our employees?  From the womb to the tomb?  I am part of a small business that has health insurance including dental and vision for my employees and a defined pension play.  If it were up to your hero BARACK we would give more to them, perhaps my salary, too?  No one said there is a free lunch but there are rules in place that allow some small businesses with a specific number of employees to not provide health insurance or pensions which I believe is perfectly fair. Why bankrupt a business for the employees?  Barack's plan calls for penalizing businesses that do not march to his tune.....shame, shame on this liberal ROGUE

                                                  Michele,

Give up.   There's no sense trying to communicate with these people.  They are so full of Kool-Aid and the network news propaganda that they have no ability to reason.  If Obama becomes the president, the country will soon remember Jimmie Carter's debaucle and finally figure out how an economy operates.  The trash & filth that has become the entertainment industry got that way because people accepted and demanded it.  These same people are now able to vote for the President of the United States.  Lord help us (and he will)  I was in Vietnam, have paid more taxes than 85% of these folks have and was born during FDR's presidency.  I am college educated, God fearing, flag waving right wing fanatic.  I was called a baby killer in 1965 and just recently an un-American!  (by a 23 year old snot who claimed to be on the Board of Directors of a major savings and loan company)  Yeh, right, and I am trying out for quarterback for the New England Patriots.

These same Kool-Aid drinkers are usually below average wage earners and think that the Democrats can provide them with a free ride (on my money)  They've been thinking and voting that way for years and nobody's come through for them yet.

It doesn't matter what the truth is.  Their minds were made up the 1st time Obama made his 1st speech that promised change and said absolutely nothing.  Remember, this country made Jesse Ventura the Governor of a state and laughs and mocks a God that decides whether or not they can have one more breath.  Look at the teenagers, the high school graduates and listen to the filthy disgusting music they listen to.  Look at their idols.  Brittany Spears, Lindsey Lohan, Brad Pitt, Oprah Winfrey, Dr Phil etc etc.

                                                  Don't waste your breath

In reply to American-660477 It is not fair to say that. I think it is not good to label anyone. Obama supporters have the right to support who they want - however - CerroJim up a few post has apparently come off his meds. The are supporters for both McCain and supporters  for Obama that have embarrassed their themselves.

ABETTERLIFE  and all you obama fanatics, watch out for this, it is real and the democrats are doing it now. MEDICAID ESTATE RECOVERY extension law, it will take your house if you have one. Obama wants to "socialize" healthcare like the 1996 law that democrats passed ( Bill Clinton ) and obama said that he wants to follow in bill clinton's footsteps. obama wants to extend this to include city homes too. not just the farms like where the super wallmart is now, where the family farm of a Social Security recipient used to be. if you get in a car crash and not have full coverage, or if you are a victim of a crime, and you need medicare or medicaid, the us government can and will take your real estate to get back the money so it can be used for someone else. look it up in your state laws. Your last will and testiment won't mean anything. the heirs can only keep up to 5,000 of the estate's value. including million + dollar properties.  for further information contact your state's health and family services department. ESTATE RECOVERY PROGRAM this is true.

Screw last will and testament! You NEED to talk to a lawyer! Put your assets (property, bank accounts, etc) in a TRUST. Designate a trustee and NO ONE can touch your property. PLAN you estate in ALL TRUSTEE form! Also...If the house deed says "tenancy by the entireties" or "joint tenancy with right of survivorship," your spouse will get the home free and clear of Medical Assistance claims when you die. If the deed is in both of your names but does not have these words written on it, talk to a lawyer. Just like the fat cats on Wall Street that had loop holes, SO DO WE!

Barack - John McCain worked for the United States of America when he served in the Viet Nam War- He did not lose the war. Read your history.

When the Vietnam conflict started, John F. Kennedy was president. Lyndon B. Johnson was president when it became full scale and Richard M. Nixon was president and responsible for bringing our troops home.

So - if you are going to blame a "party" for that war - you need to blame the Democrats.  But, John McCain served anyway to protect our human rights of Freedom for all and so did the father of my children.

Thank God for our service men and women. Without them we would never enjoy the freedom of reading idiotic postings on the Internet

No one won that war....The Vietnam. It was a very political war that we had no business being in. I was a teenager during that war. It was a sad war for the American's that fought in it. They were not given a hero's welcome home they were treated like scum. That was a very sad war and was a terrible way for our Troops to be treated on their own country's home front when they arrived back here. The sad thing now is that we ever went to war with Iraq when they were never responsible for 9/11. And look how many people America people died in this war...but bin laden is still alive. Figure that one out. We need someone who is going to do the right thing for our Country and the people in this country. I voted for Obama/Biden cause I think he is the best for our country/.

Shawn, McCain never said the economy was doing well two years ago; on the contrary he warned that the subprime mortgage crisis would occur if we didn't take action. Well, we didn't, and now we are in the mess that the uncontrolled subprimes brought us into. Let's remember that those loans were mandated by the government under Pres. Clinton, and that Obama was the lawyer for a group that was making banks institute those loans - ACORN.

And how did McCain fail when trying to emulate his father's example? By surviving a time as a POW that most men would have given up and died during? Tortured for 5 years? And then coming home and becoming wonderfully successful, and continuing to serve his country where virtually everyone else would have thought they had given their due and earned the right to take it easy?

I don't think Obama can compete with that kind of success.

I agree that abortion in the case of incest, rape and for medical reasons are ok but should not be paid for with tax dollars.

Obama's record in Illinois represents that of a pragmatic progressive, who pushed for moderate reforms and opposed right-wing legislation. In the IL legislature, voting "present" is the equivalent of voting "no" because a majority of "yes" votes are required for passage. Many IL legislators use the "present" vote as an evasion on an unpopular choice, so that they can avoid being targeted for voting "no." During the 2004 Democratic primary, an opponent mocked Obama's "present" vote on abortion bills with flyers portraying a rubber duck and the words, "He ducked!".

In 1997, Obama voted against SB 230, which would have turned doctors into felons by banning so-called partial-birth abortion, & against a 2000 bill banning state funding. Although these bills included an exception to save the life of the mother, they didn't include anything about abortions necessary to protect the health of the mother. The legislation defined a fetus as a person, & could have criminalized virtually all abortion.

Partial birth Abortion is an abortion performed on a mother that is in her last term of prenancy.  If the baby had been born through a C section ( in order to supposedly save the mothers life ) it would at the very least have God's chance at survival and a large number of premature babies survive and flourish with His blessings.  Partial birth abortion is where a doctor inserts medical appliances into the womb and kills the brain of the baby so that it will not be born alive.

May God have mercy on their souls.

After 8 years of Republican rule - abortion is still LEGAL.

There are certain circumstances that happen - In the case of a tubular pregnancy your baby would never had survived. And if you waited until you were almost full term then I can only assume two things - You didn't know you were pregnant-- 7 or 8 months along or you for what ever reason did not have medical attention from the beginning or this condition would have been addressed much earlier.  My statement was regarding late term normal pregnancies. If a woman is carrying a child and gives birth prematurely that is not partial birth abortion.  If a doctor induces labor on a woman or performs a C-Section on a woman who's life is in danger prematurely - that is not partial birth abortion. If yours was a tubular pregnancy this procedure was not done on you.

It STILL wouldn't be any of YOUR business as to why it was done.  Everyone's circumstances are different and you are not one to sit there and judge.

There are no numbers on partial birth abortion because it is - for now - illegal.  Other forms of " right to choose" are legal in defense of a mother's life .  But, not the procedure of Partial Birth Abortion.  This bill was voted down.  But, as stated earlier - In 1997, Obama voted against SB 230, which would have turned doctors into felons by banning so-called partial-birth abortion, & against a 2000 bill banning state funding. Although these bills included an exception to save the life of the mother, they didn't include anything about abortions necessary to protect the health of the mother. The legislation defined a fetus as a person, & could have criminalized virtually all abortion. The US Supreme Court uphelded this bill and this procedure is still illegal. And I am sorry - if it isn't our business as human beings to look after other human beings that can't look out for themselves then who's is it.  We might as well be all out for ourselves and no care about anyone but big I and little me.  I thought that was the reason why we voted in the first place - was because we care.

I just hope that no man wants to see his child killed by someone who swears an oath to protect life. Dr. Death is in prison for that. by the way, Did you see the vote for obama airplane fly over when you were standing in line to vote?

For someone to dictate what medical procedures can be done when and how is arrogant to the extreme.

Yay for you for your kids and grandkids.  How about putting your money where your mouth is and help those kids already here and do not have the same opportunities as your kids and grandkids have.  How about funding education to help PREVENT the need for any abortions?  How about funding safe sex and contraceptives?  You know as well as anyone that yeah, you can preach "no sex before marriage" but we all know how well that works.  Ask Bristol Palin.

In addition, the many threats that were made regarding the 9/11 attacks were overlooked by the Clinton administration. I just wish people would look at the big picture. Yes our country needs change but I'm not sure we need this change at the expense of our freedoms and foundation. Our foundation being a christian nation! When Obama went on a live interview with Stephanopoulos and slipped by saying "my muslim faith", I lost trust because he has been posing himself as christian through his entire campaign. I'm sorry, but being christian and knowing my faith, I would never have a slip in affirming my religion. I am not saying I am against muslims, I'm against being lied to about something so important.

Under Bush Social security is now in jepoerdy of going bankrupt. Gas prices under Clinton were around $1.50 a Gallon under Bush Gas prices went over $4.00 a gallon. Under Clinton unemployment was around 8% under Bush unemployment has went up as high as 12% Under Clinton Stocks were seeing there highest numbers ever. Under Bush Banks and finacial institutions are going under forcing the goverment to bail them out. Under Clinton Homes were affordable and interest rates low. Under Bush More homeowners are in forcloser than ever before in history. I personally have had to cut back on things such as groceries and sold my car due to the rapid rate in which prices have gone up while my personal income has stayed the same.

It should be a no brainer to anyone who has lived over the past 8 years that we need a change. Barack Obama is the one who will bring in that change. With McCain it will be Buisness as usual. with the ultimate result of our country suffering and bankrupt while regular people suffer.

According to Congressional Record dated August 4, 1994 -  Clinton actually wanted to impose a 23% usage tax on all Americans to fix the deficet.  The House majority and Senate ( Pubs...) voted that down. Think about it. 23% on every thing you use.  The House and Senate did not feel that was fair to younger people with families who's income was not very high.

The claim is generally made that Clinton had a surplus of $69 billion in FY1998, $123 billion in FY1999 and $230 billion in FY2000 .  Clinton claimed that the national debt had been reduced by $360 billion in the last three years, presumably FY1998, FY1999, and FY2000--though, interestingly, $360 billion is not the sum of the alleged surpluses of the three years in question ($69B + $123B + $230B = $422B, not $360B).

While not defending the increase of the federal debt under President Bush, it is aggravating seeing Clinton's record promoted as having generated a surplus. It never happened. There was never a surplus and the cold hard facts support that position. In fact, far from a $360 billion reduction in the national debt in FY1998-FY2000, there was an increase of $281 billion.

With a 4 trillion dollar deficit - In no year did the national debt go down, nor did Clinton leave PrThe growing deficits started in the year of the last Clinton budget, not in the first year of the Bush administration.
esident Bush with a budget surplus that Bush subsequently turned into a deficit.  Verifying this is as simple as accessing the U.S. Treasury

Clinton borrowed from Social Security to pay down some of the public debt - not the total National debt- but, because he borrowed from itself ( Government borrowing from Government ) and among other things the Total National debt never came down.  He also imposed higher taxes on Social Security payroll taxes to help offset this. We all know now how that story ends.

During the Clinton years, the total national debt increased every year. Only in Washington D.C. would that somehow be considered a "surplus."  source - ustres.gov -   SLICK TALKING POLITIONS!

I am independant NOT republican. there was this thing called Desert Storm that flooded the economy with optimism, remember when saddam hussein invaded kuait? then used poison gas to kill 200,000 people in iraq. this training grounds for terrorists had some good people and was asking the UN for help to be rid of saddam. now you all think that there was no reason to help them? You, who are saying "wait and look in 10 years" to see what the USA did. I hope that iraq is not like Iran in 10 years. your kids might be old enough to be drafted like my brother was during the nam. we will watch as obama is tested by the enemies and you will see that he is not qualified.

Let us all work together to create a non-polluting, justice seeking society rather than the greed and arivice of the past eight years. McCain did not distance himself from the Bush policies of disputing science, using justice dept. and others to procecute political freedom, and manipulating the press. May we rise from the shame of Lee Atwater and the Repulicans who sat and watched.

If Obama gets elected - we have two more years before some of the senators and Congressional members can be voted off again.  Not enough seats up for grabs this year in those races. Any if the dems win any of them tonight that means they gain that much more corruptive power. Listen I wish it could be a mix - Get rid of Pulosi and Dodd!

That being said, I voted for Barack Obama because I'm tired of some of the very well written pea brains in this country spouting off about how the USA was founded as a Christian nation (no, it was founded as a SECULAR nation-where all religions would be afforded respect and tolerance) and those same men made it a point to write up a Constitution that said that SEPERATION of church and state was the wise way to run this new government.  They knew what at least half of this nation now has forgotten, that fundamentalist religion is why people ran from the countries they were from to come and be safe in the USA, where all religion is kept separate from government and all men and women are free to worship or not worship in any manner they chose.  There were also a lot of other good ideas in the Constitution that were totally trampled by the current administration and I for one am tired of our country's ideals going down the tubes as the neo-cons play to the fundamentalist Christians concerns to garner votes, while raiding the funds of this nation to play war games and keep Haliburton making money.  And I believe in Jesus and my son is a 22 year old Marine Corp. Reservist.   So spare me the patriotism.  I love my country and it needs President Obama.
