Maybe. But first she needs to explain her qualifications to the public, not just the governor.

While richers than most, she's been through hell. I think she'd be a great advocate to have in Congress, especially the senate.

Yes. As Gov. Bloomberg says, she's hardworking, honest and smart

Heck yeah - she has a lot more qualifications than the president of the last 8 years: intelligence, heart and common sense.

She is smart & politcally savy. The Kennedy's who have served, have done a wonderful job & there is no reason to think she wouldn't as well

No one should use a family name to boost themselves into a leadership position. Did she just start using the Kennedy name? Sad.

Dita, she started being Caroline Kennedy when it was helpful, like when she wrote books and was promoting them.  Now she is Caroline Kennedy because she and her husband are unofficially split.  I heard they don't live together anymore.  He just comes to the house to visit with the kids.

I am sure this is somewhat disappointing to those who have devoted their lives to public service.  There are many others who are also hardworking, honest and smart but do not have the Kennedy connection.  This doesn't seem fair but that's not how the Kennedys have ever operated.

Caroline may be making her opinions known to the higher ups in the Democratic Party but for the people it would be nice to hear what she has to say and for her to hear us.  She has spent her life avoiding answering questions on her viewpoints.  Some people surely voted for Hillary because of her view on the issues.  In choosing who to replace her, it would be nice for the govenor to choose someone with similar points of view.  In my case, I supported Hillary's desire to get universal health care.  Barack Obama has not made that one of his goals.  Caroline supported Barack Obama in the election -- but can she tell us where she stands on universal health care or any issue or will she keep dodging the questions?

There is not one negative word to say about Caroline. I'm sure the viscious likes of Limbaugh, ann coulter, hannity and the other right wingers will still trash her. I have very few idols but she is and always has been one of mine.

If she does become a senator, she will be outstanding. She is brilliant and a true patriot.

                                                Daniel,

Caroline Kennedy has lived in NY since she was 12 years old.  She is not married to the governor of California; that is Maria Shriver, her cousin.  She is probably more of a New Yorker than you are.  Granted, Hillary was a "convenience New Yorker" and will probably never set foot in the state now that she will be living and working in DC.  Caroline Kennedy, however, would be occupying a seat once held by her uncle Bobby, who was also a transplanted New Yorker.  She is, however, a very accomplished woman who has a lot of public service behind her, as well as a Harvard Education and a Columbia University law degree (that's in New York, right?)  She is also very active with the NAACP and with Education in the State of New York, although apparently, the system may have missed a few.  Get over yourself and read a newspaper sometime.  You may learn something.  Just sayin'

I think we already have too many people with the last name of Kennedy in office. If she is so interested in being a senator, why doesn't she do just like all the others have to do, mainly campaign, and run for it? Seems a bit fishy to me that she suddenly decides to enter politics after brown nosing it with Obama, him giving Hillary Clinton the SOS job and now her senate seat is open. I'm sure there are many people more qualified than her to hold that job. Seems only fair that someone more deserving and qualified gets it. The name Kennedy should pull no more weight than Smith or Jones.

The Kennedys have all served well, and their family has paid a huge price in blood for their dedication to public service.  Caroline has led an exemplary life, never making waves or causing scandal.  Those who raise the issue of experience are just silly.  First there is no particular experience to prepare anyone to serve in the Senate.  A good brain and a sense of decency is all that is really required.  Second, if you look at some of the yahoos and bozos who serve and have served there (on both sides of the aisle) she stands way over their heads in qualifications, temperament, character, and ability.

She is also an adviser to the Harvard Institute of Politics.  She has lived in New York the majority of her life, has earned a degree from Harvard and a law degree from Columbia.  She is a brilliant and accomplished woman and is devoted to improving education and civil rights.  I can't think of a better image for the state of New York than to send Caroline Kennedy to the senate.  Incidently, what did Hillary Clinton have except her name?  She has turned out to have been a pretty powerful force in the Senate and has represented New York interests pretty well.  New York voted for her twice for the senate and overwhelmingly for president.  I don't see why Ms. Kennedy is any less qualified.

Caroline Kennedy is as qualified, if not more qualified, than any of the other names being considered.  Just because she is quiet, doesn't mean she is another Sarah Palin.  I'm sure she has kept up with the national and international news and views and she is well aware of how to represent her constituents and the state of New York.  She will do well and you can bet on that.  I sure would.

Let's see... didn't President Kennedy election have scandalous talk that the mob got him elected and now we have Obama, elected out of the Chicago/Daily bunch? Up, let's compare Obama to the Kennedys.  And this is the first candidate Caroline Kennedy comes out and endorses after years of being a recluse???

I agree with others... she doesn't have the experience, other than her name.  Enough with the dynasty of Kennedys.  In fact, why doesn't Ted Kennedy resign because of his health, and go home and enjoy his family.

It's all about power.  Maybe Caroline Kennedy could be crowned Queen!!!

Wouldn't it be great to have a little known, qualified person appointed to NY's Senate seat?  Some fresh person with fresh ideas.  We can dream I guess.
