He's making a fool of himself and the television stations should refuse to let him continue his lies.
He's being treated a little "too" fairly -- it's been common knowledge in Illinois for years that he was being investigated for corruption / selling jobs / pay to play, etc. He should have been impeached long ago; instead it took Fitzgerald arresting him to get anyone in the state legislature moving on this.
Agreed. Besides, in the impeachment case he ignored the deadline to call witnesses. So for him to act like he's the victim here is nonsense. Sure looks fishy.
Illinois politics have a bad enough reputation as it is, and Blago is dragging us through the mud and doing it at taxpayer expense. What a slime ball.
Ga-Toe-Mighty this is Re-Damn-Diculous! I just figured out why the media "glorifies" Dems....they put on a good show. I think the party's entire agenda is to create a Hollywood soap opera style government with scandal and intriguing story lines. Forget being responsible for governing a nation, let's watch the Donkey Show!
Um, we Dems do something about our corrupt politicians. We get rid of them. Too bad the Repubs can't say the same thing, otherwise Bush and Cheney would not have finished the first term.
Get out the fly paper!! I agree with "oldguru": All the tricks, lies, and secrecy of the Cheney Administration and you STILL sing that tired, OLD song? At least the Illinois Legislature (bi-artisan) is doing something about it.
Cut me a break here. This clown should have been gone long ago. Typical liberal to defend their own by bringing in false allegations against conservatives. Now we have one more clown to deal with in office
Will you people stop claiming the higher moral ground based upon with which political animal you self-identify? Republicans get rid of their corrupt politicians likely with the same degree of success as Democrats, but that's only the ones that get caught (on either side). Both parties probably have the same incidence of corruption - and since there are more democrats to begin with, there are probably more corrupt democrats than republicans! P.S. oldguru and marty550911 are two fine examples of why ultimately President Perfect will fail - because people don't focus on common goals as much as they focus on how "their side" in a 2-party system is right and the other is wrong (and corrupt!)...
Amen!.......i would look carefully at the comment "ultimately President Perfect will fail", though....it smacks of the same faulty thought process as it was meant to expose.....short-circuiting mental energy by "dissing" whatever.......millions of us are now redoubling our efforts to engage in "community building" and developing "sustainable" systems and processes that transcend both the dem/rep dissfest, as well as crippling cynical notions of anybody being a "President Perfect"..........people ARE focusing on common goals more and more by the hour, and finding some refreshing inspiration in what that can bring..........of course, dissing those that diss, or to address my own comment here, which may well be dissing those that are dissing those that diss, is a sweet and sticky trap, so i will now log off and go outside to work on the community garden we are developing here...........
Fair comments PageOne, my reference to President Perfect is not a slam against Barack as much as an expression of the frustration I faced during this past election where I had zero choice in this "either-or" political system, yet anyone I spoke with then (and now) says that if I don't support Barack then I "just don't get it" and why he deserves the highest approval ratings in the history of tracking them without having done a thing to govern! BTW, if people were focusing on common goals more and more by the hour, we wouldn't hear comments like the one from Harry Reid that he "doesn't work for Pres Obama [he] works with him."
Where was it ever written that anyone (a citizen, mayor, governor or even the president) was guilty before a fair trial. He has done some very good things for Illinois and I also believe that these proceedings are a sham (long before he decided not to participate). Wait until the people of Illinois see what they will get in the next governor. I can guarantee that taxes in Illinois (just like Chicago) will lead the nation. I don't know if Governor Blagojevich is innocent or guilty but he has not been treated fairly in any way, shape or form.
How can you think he was not treated fairly? Every elected official goes into office knowing how these type of hearings proceed. It wasn't like the legislature changed the rules to rush an impeachment. His behavior followng the charges (refusal to answer them) forced the hand of the Illinios state legislature to act. I applaud their actions.
Don't let this clown's retoric fool you. Impeachment is not a criminal trial. It only serves to determine if a person has and still can perform their ELECTED duties honorably and effectively. It truly is mostly about perception, character, and trust. No matter if Balgo actually did any of the things he's accused of, the fact that it even LOOKS like he did is enough to concider impeachment. He still has real criminal charges to face down the road, but the institution of Government can't put everything on hold and wait for the results of a criminal trail that will take months to get started and may take YEARS to resolve. His show of "contempt" by not "defending" himself in the impeachment hearings demonstrates his lack of respect for the system of government he swore to uphold upon taking office. It's also a wild slap in the face to the people of Illinois.
Turtledude, with a vote of 114-1, who's showing who contempt?
It is amazing that he doesn't see himself the way others see him. I think he has mental issues and agree that television has given him a spotlight to show the rest of the country how unstable he is
This man lives in another world that only exists in his mind. With his mindset he will likely dig his own grave by doing the talk show circuit. The man is an idiot! Why anyone would elect this man to public office is beyond me
The question should be "have the people of Illinois been treated fairly by Blagojevich?" The answer is a resounding no and as a resident of Illinois I suggest that the TV and blogs stop giving this super egomaniac a forum for his delusions and stop being enablers for his continued disrespect of the people he professes to be fighting for. The only one he is fighting for is himself.
Nail on the head! Add Anne Coulter to the list of buffoons who do not deserve 1 more second of "air" time.
Typical liberal trying to drag someone into the fray. Turtledude ...........get a life! Your liberal lies fool no one but other half witted liberal.
Turtledud, what "electorate" did poor Anne betray to not deserve air time? At least Anne adds rationality to her arguments, something clearly not shown in your passionate partisan postings...
He's a lunatic. Illinois voters (at least, those who voted for him: I did not) should hang their heads in shame for him, and for the other career kleptocrats that we've elected and re-elected in state and Chicago municipal government for decades. The Republicans have been willing coconspirators---so long as they got their scraps from the table, they've rarely made a substantive challenge to Business As Usual in this state.
People get the government that they deserve. We brought this idiot upon our own heads.
Blagojevich, what in the mother of hell is wrong with you? You have been exposed as a liar, but you still are in the news, which blows my mind away each time. As much as I dislike Oprah, keep her out of your pathetic pity mongering whiny drama, and everyone else who you are trying to grab on your way down, as you drop lower and lower into your own little bottomless pit of shame and corruption. Why don't you write a book while your at it too. Get the hell out of the media spotlight. No one likes you, your inflated ego, and your abnormal eyebrow comb over toupee forehead growth. Each of which are separate entities on their own.
We need to remember that ALL politicians are theives, liars, cheats, and basically low-life criminals. That said, the Democrats tend to be quite a bit better at theiving, cheating, etc. than Republicans.
Blago, as bad as thngs appear, has not actually been convicted (though the press seems to have already had their way with him). He has every right to appeal to the left-wing talk shows and what he hopes is a sympathetic left-leaning media in NYC for a platform.
Is Blago's behavior over the top, whiney, and a disgrace? Of course it is. However, he was legally elected to office and he did, at some point, have the IL voters behind him.
As I'm sure we'll see in the next few years, people get the type of government that they diserve.
I guess by that logic, some people"deserved" the economic collapse, 911, and other catastrophes of the Bush administration.
Yeah, there's NEVER been a corrupt Repub, EVER. And all the Dems I know and all the reports from lefty publications have unwaveringly embraced the angelic virtues of Mr. Bragofanitch! Disgracing a Dem is obviously a left wing conspiracy to to make the Dems seem sympatheticin order to further the covert plan of making the GOP look good. Duh! As for this phrase "getting the government you deserve"... WTH does that even mean. Do idiots really deserve an idiot government? What about the last 8 years? Are you willing to call yourself an idiot?
Turtledud, Blago's predecessor is a Republican still doing time so stop being blindly supportive of your democrat colleagues and James-838697 what do you base your assessment of Democrats being better at thieving on aside from YOUR purely partisan views? If the Democrats were truly better at thieving, no one would know that they're thieves! The real problem here is the 2-party system which pits too many of us against each other rather than against the problems we need to fix... And, Turtledud, yes, I am an idiot because for years I helped perpetuate poor policy by buying into the 2-party system - this last election opened my eyes that people like me had no real "choice" between a senile fool pandering to anyone who'd give him a vote and an unproven enigma with zero governing experience but a great record of voting "present" who wants to turn us into a government-run country...
The biggest question is: Why does this man get so much air time and coverage? He was afforded an opportunity to defend himself (see article 2 days ago) and would have been able to call the majority of his witnesses. Instead, he chose to seclude himself and only come out to talk to the media.
Sadly, it doesn't matter which political party you belong (subscribe) to--one is as bad as the other and neither has any ethics or morals or really gives a you-know-what about the people they are supposed to represent. Until that message gets through to our shameless elected officials, we will continue to have the type of government that has been exposed as corrupt, swindling, and self-serving.
Blago is just the tip of a very, very large iceberg!
this man has mental issues. I live and work in illinois in construction and he has blocked all new projects even though the federal funding was there. We have hardly any work due to the gradeschool antics of this man.He argued over our state budget and left friends and neighbors without an income for months until it got settled. He dares to compare himself to those who were oppressed? We in Illinois are the oppressed and we want him out. If a special vote were approved, he would be gone.
The only other person with an ego (delusion) as big as his is Gov. Sarah Palin. Neither of them are EVER the one responsible for anything except furthering their own public persona.
right on, "Mountain Woman"!! The whole Palin thing set American women back about 50 years.
She was a woman??? I thought she was Blago in drag!
Newsvine rules say "short and classy"- considering the subject, Blagojevich- short is possible but classy he does not deserve. The man is a crook and a BOOB. His insistant and shrill whining never ends. I think the Ill. legislature is on the right path to get that done. Hey, G.O.P., this is what you do with corrput politicans: you go by the rules and get rid of them if warranted, not reward and protect them and trash and/or spy on anybody who says a contrary word.
Hey Marty550911, where does "BOOB" fit into classy? If you want to lecture the GOP about going by the rules, then you also need to lecture the Democrats who complained that Roland Burris was a "tainted" appointment and refused to seat him at first, which was a fine example of public opinion driving our country today rather than being the country of laws we claim to be...
He is crazy as a friggin loon!
His Ego is Sooo big I think it will explode before he gets booted out. He cares only about how he appears in the public. As a Illinois citizen I can only hope we finally get someone who is not totally corrupt!
i dont get this issue,i am asking the difference between Rod and Barack asking donors to help Hillary pay her debt for her support during the elections-is that pay to play or not?
I think Mayor Daley said it best.... "the man is cuckoo!
The sooner we get him out of office, the sooner we
can tackle more important issues.
The guy needs to be put away!
thats not the deal, we need to know if he did anything wrong in the leveraging of the seat
The Gov. and his garbage mouth wife are making their last stand. He will be impeached, he, and probably his wife will do prison time. No question, they will play the martyr role and wait for the book offers to come in. Certainly, they will do the Talk Show circuit and milk their fifteen minutes of fame for all its worth. Essentially, he and his wife are abysmal failures. But on the other hand, they have brought the image, held by most of the nation and world of Illinois to an all new low (if even that is possible). Gee, does he still rate and official portrait in the capital??

HELL NO, THIS IS ONE SICK PUPPY. And all of thoses shows that he goes on should shoot their directors.
