They totally gave the Cardinals the shaft. Why did number 92 of the steelers not get kicked out of the game?? Personal foul??
Was that not an illegal block by the Steelers on the hundred yard return???... Happened around the Arizona Twenty.
Yah it was, but the refs were out of position, so they made an honest mistake.
I have watched that illegal block around the twety several times. How did they MISS that one??
an honest mistake? after watching the game and the way it was refed there were no honest mistakes.
Remember, the only official on the play was the ref, since all the other officials were on the line or in the end zone. Harrison is not that fast, but he was faster than the referee (the one guy with a white hat). It was bang bang. Give it up Card fans. Warner shouldn't have made the throw. Nuff said.
I saw a block and a hold on the play never mind the 1/2 yard line.
=
no, it wasn't an illegal block. he clearly had his hands on his shoulder.

The officiating is so one-sided its pathetic. Where did they get these goofs.
The same community outreach program where they teach dolphins to retrieve nukes from the bottom of the ocean. Except these guys were the rejects.
worst refs in SB history, bad calls and miss calls/ not what should happen in SB
I think these were the same blind morons from the Seahawks and Whiners Super Bowl game from a few years ago. At the very least they were paid off by the same dbags.
Players effort 100% Referees effort 20%
The referees were obviously determined to see the Steelers win. The roughing the passer call against the Cardinals was unbelievable. I think Obama told the referees to make sure Pittsburgh won the game.
Really funny - for now on when a qb is going to get sacked all he has to do is move his arm and thow the ball a yard or two to avoid the sack? At least that what the Cards think - they got away with it once but not the second.
How about the ref calling the holding call in the end zone - he was 15 yards away and behind the play -
Oh, so Warner should have just intetionally grounded it like Ben did two or three times and never got called.
not to take anything away from Pitt as they deserved too win (but so did Ari). However, the refs gave Pitt the game with the bogus fumble. Warner's arm clearly went forward. The game should have gone downn to a last sec hail mary.
Yes his hand did come forward, but his hand must have total control of the football of which warner did not have there call on the field was the correct call
ted,
You may be correct, but why didn't the crew review the play? The roughing the passer was bogus. The refs have to understand that the QB is a 245lb player who is more likely to run you over than slide. When you have a play that close, you have to take all of it into consideration.
The morons didn't want to review the play because then Arizona would have had a chance to win. The NFL is going to make more money off of a Crapsburg win than a Arizona win....
the better team won! the sun birds got a few plays that went their way! like the hold in the end zone that went for a safety. the DL dozed over hartwig and fell on top of him he didnt drag him to the turf.....bad call! LIKE I SAID THE BETTER TEAM WON!
they would have had a chance in hell!!
Go ahead and tally the questionable calls on both sides. Clearly favored the Steelers. The Birds got the shaft.
The ref's were horrible. The Cardinals had to use two challenges to correct them and on the game winning TD, Holmes said his feet never left the ground. There is a still shot on this site that clearly shows his right foot is not touching the ground, it is on top on his left. Hard enough to beat the Steelers by themselves, beating them and the refs is impossible.
I agree totally with you that Holmes' one foot was not on the ground. All the views that I saw on TV showed only one foot touching the ground.
One would think with so many officials on the field someone would get the calls right.
Another example of poor officiating! When will the NFL realize that the constant "Yellow Flagging" by their referees is destroying the flow of the game?
No one here has mentioned the h0rse@!$%# holding call in the end zone for a safety that for all intent and purpose could have gave Arz the game. Lets talk about that one.. Holding? WTFE Steelers win because Ben is great.. Stop complaining Arz maggots or Steeler haters.. Most likely all of the whiners here are Ravens fans. 2 feet were down for Holmes.. watch the replay with your glasses..
this is exactly why i hate steelers fans more than i hate the team.
Yeah, emotional people such as yourself always hate facts and logic. I guess the reversal of the Steelers first touchdown and the holding call in the endzone were all part of the master plan to give the Steelers the game. I agree the referees were bad but they were bad in both directions.
By the way, the last play of the game was reviewed upstairs and determined it was the right call and didn't require the referee to look at it on a tiny hooded screen.
As usual, the Sttelers stole another one. They get the playoffoffs in their house and the refs. Now it is Superbowl and they get the refs again. It is something to see what money can't buy. I am really getting turned off with football. They are ruining this sport like they ruined boxing.
Do you even watch football? Just about every call in the AFC Championship Game went for the Ravens. That's really the only reason they scored in that game. Great teams overcome bad calls, good teams lose and whine.
The poor officiating all over the NFL is starting to make the whole league look scripted, like the phony wrestling of yester-year. The league, through the officials, are pulling strings to create more drama and try to pull in more fans. The script yesterday went much like this: Steelers are the favorite, so they get all of the early breaks, but the drama is slipping away, so lets help AZ with a couple of calls. Nice work, the underdogs are on top, but the clock is running out, so we better find a way to make sure the Steelers get the win. Hey, we did it.....in fact, we think we created the most exciting, best Super Bowl ever.
I had no dog in the fight, but this was the worst Super Bowl refereeing in history, and clearly the Steelers benefited. The interception return should not have counted due to holding, the "roughing the passer" was utter fiction, the "running into the holder" was due to a block, Harrison should have been ejected for clearly throwing a punch -- which was before the change of possession, not after -- Santonio Holmes' right foot never hit the ground on his TD, and it is downright astonishing the refs did not stop to at least look at the final turnover, which I still find to be a questionable call. Congratulations to Mike Tomlin and his team, they played a great season and deserved to be there. Too bad the officiating creates a stink around their title.
I believe that James Harrison should have been ejected from the game for his flagrant fouls and forearm smashes. He makes Ray Lewis look like a saint thanks to the refs.
what about the hit on the steeler punter when he held the ball for reed on the fg
why was he not ejected as for ray lewis go to texas go bye
Word on the street is that he took a shot in a very sensitive area from the Arizona player, I don't really blame him for retalliation.
really the officiating had to much influence on the game...the roughing the qb on the Cards...help us. I'm a steeler fan from youth and I thought the game was poorly called in favor of the Steelers. want a game not a give away
I definitely agree that the referee was incorrect on calling Kurt Warner's incomplete pass a fumble. Also, earlier in the game the multiple "unnecessary roughness" calls against the Cardinals when they went after the Steeler's quarterback was incorrect. In fact, the referees decided the game by giving so many penalties to the Cardinals!!!! It is a tragedy when referees are given this much power that they abuse and anyone can see the bias that makes the winner. I was disgusted with the referees and they were definitely biased against the Cardinals, who hardly had any penalties during the regular season and the playofffs. God bless the Cardinals for tolerating this defeat. They WON according to Marie in AZ and all my family!!!! and to Kurt Warner -- YOU are the GREATEST EVER!!!!
Kurt Warner was cheated by the referees on the erroneous call of a fumble instead of an incomplete pass near the end. It is tragic that unfair, erroneous calls are made on athletes as great as Kurt Warner and some of the other Cardinals. The Cardinals struggled throughout the game with this. They are usually the ones who are sportmanlike. They usually do not get so many "calls" on penalties. This was a tragic mess up on the part of the referees! Marie in AZ
he did not have control of the ball when his arm came forward therefore FUMBLE
When was the last time anyone saw roughing the holder called? The refs were brutal!!!!

I didn't see any questionable calls. I think they did a very nice job.
