Limbaugh is what Steele noted, a talk show host that entertains a conservative base. problem is , Limbaugh represents the old base which is outdated, and out of touch of the new conservative ideas which are arising in the country. Rush is a pedant ho enjoys hearing his own voice, not able to objectively discourse new ideas and ideals. He should stay in his arena and definately exit the political scene as his ways have been slaughtered at the polls. Only a miority of Americans will follow him as we have been recently reminded in the last electorate.Move over Rush, and let the new Republicans rescue the party.

Perhaps only a minority of Americans will follow him, but it doesn't take a whole lot of people to get fired up to start a civil war, or to try to assassinate our new President. Rush's words are incendiary, and for someone who should be in jail for drug possession, he gets entirely too much attention for me. He is dangerous and he should be gagged immediately! He's a Republican leader, and he is leading the whole country down the wrong path. "I hope Obama fails"? is not what I need to hear with so many in our country suffering! Rush isn't suffering; he's still getting high, and he's making $100 million a year, something most of his listeners will NEVER see in their bank accounts-yet, they "support" Rush? I hate to ask but, how dumb can a person be?

Gigi Jones, have you actually ever listened to anything Rush has to say or are you a typical liberal who only hears seriously EDITED versions put out by the MSM and Dimwit Democrats? I too used to despise Rush Limbaugh and called him a windbag, etc., and voted Democrat in every election since 1992; however, during the past 3 years I actually started to listen to him and HEAR what he has to say, and he's usually RIGHT.

"He is dangerous and he should be gagged immediately!" MORON!!! Have you ever heard of the FIRST AMENDMENT???? Rush has every right to say what he does; where was your condemnation during the past 8 years of Democrats, Liberals (usually the same entity) and the MSM for DAILY smearing ANYTHING President Bush did or said. I have also listened to liberal talk radio and was stunned at the vileness and utter FILTH spewed forth on those shows (Sarah Palin referred to as a b****, c**t, etc., Bush referred to as Hitler, war criminal, and other “four letter words”; people on those shows ACTUALLY calling for Bush's assassination). But this is OK as long as it's a despised Republican in the White House. Dissent is patriotic, that is until a Democrat is in the White House, then if you’re a Republican or Conservative, you’re being partisan and part of the problem. Hypocrites, each and every one of you!

Rush NEVER said he wants Obama personally to fail, he said he wants Obama's SOCIALIST POLICIES to FAIL, and so do I! For you to suggest that Rush is trying to instigate an assassination of President Obama is disgusting, but typical for a liberal. Rush has done no such thing, nor would he ever condone it.

BTW, Michael Steele did not apologize TO Rush; read it again without your biased mind interfering (if possible). "To the extent that my remarks helped the Democrats in Washington to take the focus, even for one minute, off of their irresponsible expansion of government, I truly apologize." What he's apologizing for is his remarks being used (which they are) by Democrats to shift people's focus OFF THEMSELVES. This is nothing more than a propaganda ploy by Democrats.

The Limbaugh style is intended to attract an audience. It appears to have succeeded. However, in this sound bite society we should try to get more of the message.

"I hope he fails" is about the new administration trying to get Congress to spend trillions of dollars on bailout plans that aren't firmly established. I heard the same thing on NPR this morning. We are pumping money into institutions that are still run by the same people who got them there. Until the leadership is changed, I hope he fails too.

Hey DittoHead - You are a Limbaugh apologist! What's with this parsed nuaunce about Limbaugh not wanting Pres. Obama "personally" to fail - just everything he was elected to do by the large majority of people in this country? Give me a break - you have been suckered, played, duped, fleeced, etc. Unfortunately the Republican party has been taken over by the extreme right-wing led by that drug addicted, unAmerican Rush Limbaugh who spews "I hope Obama fails" when America desperately needs our president to succeed for the sake of our country - if you WANT your President's efforts to rescue our country and its people from near Depression to fail then you want our country to fail and for what? - for the sake of your extreme right wing philosophy? Real Americans support their Commander-in-Chief when America is threatened and what we face now is an economic Pearl Harbor. Instead you back Fat Boy Limbaugh who hopes Obama "fails" to prevent another Great Depression? Limbaugh doesn't care because he has a $400 Million contract and this drug addicted elitist claims to represent the hard working little guy against the "lazy" poor people - he and the others like him are so self-serving by wielding distraction and division to keep their audience voting Republican so they can pay lower taxes on their exhorbitant income! The lemmings that listen to them don't see the hypocrisy and manipulation. Ignornace is such fertile ground for propaganda!!

Limbaugh is a scary entity and won't go away, he is inciting hatred, violence, and intolerance, my parents and brother listen to him everyday, they used to be of a Christian mind but that has been erased as they get brainwashed each day by this man. This country needs to call a truce to the WAR BETWEEN THE DEMS & REPUBS. This must stop now. We are breeding hatred and intolerance and worst of all, an I'm RIGHT You're WRONG mentality and it's starting with kids. Who will stop this war and soften those extreme edges, which are no different from the extremists on the side of the other war we are fighting. Fanatics cause panic and Rush Limbaugh is half an inch from telling his followers to drink the kool-aid and kill anything that doesn't agree with his machine. We have many interest groups in this country, how do we come together to keep things rolling without all this in-fighting?! We are a beautiful people in the USA and we can do such good but when those who want to keep us in the dark ages so that their pockets remained lined in gold -- ON BOTH SIDES -- then we suffer, is this the nature of a capitalist civilization? Times are changing, once again, and we are all on different pages. Seems impossible to fix.

Talk about greed. All of those that want something for nothing. You are the real greedy people. Having a driver's license is a privilege, going to a good school is a privilege, being able to afford good doctors is a privilege. Living in your own home is a privilege. As a whole we are a privileged nation because so many before us have worked so hard that they themselves might live better and in doing so make it that the society’s standard of living goes up. My cousin has free health care, free schooling, free condoms and free just about everything else and spends her days wandering aimlessly on the beaches in brazil. If we are going to demonize success in this country then I might as well move to some other utopia where global warming is actually a problem and as such I'll be sure to see 90 degree weather everyday as I wander aimlessly about the coastline comforted by the thought that I have the all benevolent Brazilian government to support me. I swear if half of Obama supporters took 5 years to live in other parts of the world they would not want to “change” America so drastically.

Extremists have taken over both parties and have put this country on a ever more erratic seesaw.

To DB-934151 - You're a perfect example of what EAA-934078 was talking about! All you want is to kill and to maim those who don't see things they way YOU do. There is nothing in the Constitution or elsewhere that gives you the right to harm someone just because he/she does not look like you, or you don't like their politics. How dare you call treating another human being right, CRAP? Do you call yourself a follower of Jesus Christ? Hurting and killing others was not in Jesus' teachings-where do you get your attitude from? Are you illiterate? Are you uneducated?

It's people like you who listen to people like Rush, and then go out and do something to hurt someone-you'd better hope you pick the right one, or you'll find yourself in the condition you hoped to put someone else in!

Autos are just a convenient target because they are big and expensive.

When was the last time you looked at a clothing label to see where the garment was made? Is a pair of pants really worth $100, especially when a third world worker made them?

Until we are all able to accept some level of responsiblity to where we are as a nation, we will not be able to take the deep breath and move forward. They put Steele in there to pacify the dems. They knew he would not take a stand either way. As far as Rush, he is using his right to free speech. The republicans have run on hating and demonizing all those who oppose them for so long that they know no other recourse. Politics are politics, and I'm sure there are there is a lot of stone throwing on boths sides. But Limbaugh takes it to a new level where he actually wishes ill-will to the American public who would surely suffer if Obama were to fail. Steele should grow a pair and publicly disown Limbaugh. The Republican party could do a lot better without his vile comments.

But if a conservative expresses an opinion or doesn't agree with you - that's HATE or VILE !! Excuse me?? Guess what it goes both ways - difference is conservatives handle criticism with grace and professionalism - liberals simply attack and make comments that cannot be backed up. ---> and by the way Barack will fail, it's already begginning...... like it or not.

we are all DOOMED!!! Give me a break. What is this truth you speak of? Rush and hard core conservatives constantly chage the facts so they point to the answer they want. Very unscientific. Rush himself and Hannity as well say it's just their "opinion". And now I'm supposed to trust you Bernie... why. Do you know why we had a housing bubble, do you know why we had a credit crunch, do you know why are economy is contracting, do you know why we have extremely high debt after a surplus just 8 years ago, do you know why the American standard of living is down. If you do some research you will find that a lot of it has to do with conservative ideals. Whether you believe the facts you will find IS the problem, it's sad to say.

Thank you Anthony for being a true American. No one should WANT for the President to fail. I didn't like Bush at all. But that didn't mean I didn't want this country to do well. What true American wants this country to fail simply to get your people back in office??? That makes absolutely no sense. And it shows a complete lack of patriotism and a lack of respect for the Office of the President. Regardless of whether you like who's in office or not, you should be respectful and do your part to make the country better. It's like you cut off your nose to spite your face when you wish failure on those running the country (be they democrat or republican). You might argue that the policy won't work but you should never wish for failure.

DB934151. There is a vast difference between criticising the POLICIES of a President who LIED to the American people, took us into a war that has caused way more harm than good, a war that has caused more Iraqi deaths than Saddam ever did. You and your ilk are hoping for the failure of this Administration. That failure would mean the failure of the United States. We would not come out of that disaster in your lifetime, if ever. He flunked out of college his mother said he got all F's only lasted 2 semesters. His three wives all left him and drug abuse played a large part. But only the third wife had the facts, abusive nasty attitude and controlling ways of Rush backed by drugs he admitted taking but he did it for 5 years even before he married her, longer than they were married. He was and is a paranoid weak jack ass only performs well in his glass radio room and even transmitted from his home for awhile so he didn't have to be seen in public. That is your Republican leader nice huh.

Well,, let's see Ronald reagan was an entertainer, So why not Rush Limbaugh? He is a completely selfish jerk and will say anything to make our president and country look bad. His ranting and raving has me a little worried. I must ask this question, has anyone done a drug test on him lately?Look at pictures of him, he seems to be either obsessed or possessed.

A drug screen might be in order, he has a history you know.

                DB:

I hate rush because he is a racist, sexist biggot who breeds and spreads hate in any way possible. remember when he was doing some work with the nfl until making a racist comment about the highest payed black player at the time(donovan mcnabb). I also hate that any decent point he has ever made has been made in a hateful manner.

but lets not be crazy and say it's just rush.......these political talk shows are almost entirely the same on both sides......had the misfortune of hearing a liberal talk show host refer to the governer of louisiana as "the governer of new orleans".........no mind that new orleans is a city rather than a state......and not even the states capital(baton rouge)

people really need to turn this garbage off and form a real political opinion.....one that actually represents them rather than what someone else has said......

....if you spend too much time agreeing with these people, you're proving just how empty your head is........left or right

I have to agree with Craig Face, too. I had the misfortune opportunity to listen to some talk radio on a crank radio when a windstorm knocked the power out for a week. The standard of evidence on talk radio is whatever the host pulls out of his butt. It's not a good way to get accurate information about anything.

I consider myself a conservative Republican but I also want this country to be pulled out of this horrible recession. Why would anyone, Democrat or Republican want to see President Obama fail, to me that is counterproductive. Granted, I don't agree with his policies but unlike Limbaugh I don't want to see the President fail simply because he is a Democrat.

Now that makes sense. As an independant who voted for Bush the 1st time but not the 2nd time - I never wished Bush to fail. I stood behind him when he took us to war. I did not nor do agree with his policies but I never wished him to fail. This is insane!! The economy, the state of the nation is in the shape it is because of both parties. But do not forget who was in charge when this really happened. Obama has only been president for 1.5 months.

Wake up - our system is failing. We can change it and it does not have to be socialist - but change is needed. Stop labeling and stop hating and start listening and giving up real ideas that will save this nation. And look in the mirror - Republicans placed the leaders that truly caused most of this to happen. Democrats need to do the same because Clinton had some issues that helped the down fall too.

The truth is that the "dittoheads" are a small faction of low information, low intelligence people who live in the paranoid, fear induced cowardace that is Rush"s world. The majority of the American people voted AGAINST that attitude. Rush may have a large audience, but that does not mean that all those people agree with him. In most areas, his is the only program that is on the radio for hours at a time. I used to listen to him just to keep up with what the crazies were up to, but we finally got another, good station, so I don't have to listen to his drivel any more. DB934... and Bernie are just remanants of the discarded GWB/Dick Vader hateful world. They are the children who got left behind.

Rush Limbaugh is not a leader, if he is, I'd like to see him do something in the political service arena that will benefit the country, bring people together and strike a chord with the majority of Americans.

I don't think that he can pull that off, his only outlet will be his show.

Rush Limbaugh is a fat instigator that only embarrasses the Republicans more than they have already been embarrassed. Intelligent people would be wise to not react to Rush's incendiary comments. As for Michael Steele, the only reason he was selected is because he is black and the Republicans thought that no one would be able to see through their transparent strategy of trying to increase black support by picking Steele as the GOP head.

I am glad the Republican party has Rush Limbaugh because they certainly need help. The Democrats are not helping this country one bit. What happened to FREEDOM OF SPEECH?

Lately with Obama elected if something is said---it is racist. Everything is racial now. Durbin, and others have now been chastised by Burris supporters so they are changing their tune about Burris stepping down. If it was a Replublican, white man, he would have been out a month ago. What is going on? Is racial a one way street?

They need someone with vast experience. Like Gov. Sarah Palin with John McCain to back her up. Or maybe Rush is the voice of the GOP with Ann Coulter right behind him. As a democrat, I can only sit back and love this mess.

Palin needs to stay in Alaska, and never be heard of again!

It seems obvious to mt that Steele's not leading the Republican party, since a simple Republican-on-the-Street Poll would probably reveal that most Republicans know who Rush Limbaugh is and what he stands for, but few would even recognize Steele's name.

You are probably right. From the misinformation coming from the Reich Wing posters, it is pretty clear that they do not really pay attention to events. They just parrot the talking points that Rush and Billo and Sean spew out.

Russ is not a Republican, but rather a Conservative. The discussion about who runs the Replublican Party might be better defined between Steele verses McCain/Romney; but certainly not Rush. Yes, the Republican Party needs a leader and one will naturally emerge

Correspondingly Obama is not a Democratic, but rather a socailist. Within two years this will become much clearer. We are already seeing issues in the Democratic Party over the Spending Bill.

Rush has his followers and his opinions; Obama has his followers and his opinions. Obama's crowd is much bigger; I'm not quite sure why anyone on the Democratic side is listening or even cares! Maybe Rush makes too many people feel just a little nervous.
