Yes. You have to give them credit for an incredibly productive start -- from the recovery plan, to more TARP funding, plus the housing program rescuing homeowners from foreclosure.

No. Obama and his administration have bungled everything from the AIG bonuses to the bailout, and what's been implemented so far will do nothing to fix the economic crisis.

I'm not sure. It's simply too early to be confident. It will take months, even years, to determine whether or not the administration's efforts were successful.

    Joe,

I know it seems counterintuitive to build up what seems to be a mountain of debt, but the taxpayers are going to come out on top, you wait and see. We have many previous examples to look at. The granddaddy is of course WWII. Huge deficit spending finished lifting us out of the Depression. The Savings and Loan and ConRail bailout episodes are both good examples of the taxpayers putting up cash and actually making a profit in the end. Also, please note, the banks are just about ready to start paying back their advances. Finally, this whole debt argument is a bit specious -- when the economy turns around, revenues will increase, cutting the size of both the deficit and the debt.

NHLucky, WWII got the USA out of the Great Depression not huge deficit spending. WWII put Americans to work in the factories to build up the Military as we were being attacked on two fronts by the Germans and the Japanese. It was not huge spending and deficits that got us out of the Great Depression. You leftist need to stop trying to re-write history like the Clinton's like to attempt to do. NHL, you could not be more wrong. The unemployment rate was at over 15% when FDR took office and over 15% before the USA entered WWII.

WWII started all kinds of new industry as wars usually do. The big spend government approach to get people on the Gov't dime did not work then. Unemployment skyrocketed to over 25% under FDR and FDR's own economist stated at the time that the big government approach used by FDR did not, DID NOT, get the USA out of the Great Depression. It was WWII and all of the results from WWII which pushed private industry to new heights.

You are trying to re-write history here, it is not working.

cjn, wars you say. Who attacked the USA on 9/11, it was Al Qaeda. Who were the Al Qaeda allies that gave them a save home and base of operations? It was the Taliban in Afghanistan. We have removed the Taliban from running Afghanistan and they now live in caves in Pakistan, and that is okay as it was the Pakistan Military that originally started the Taliban so I hope the Pakistanis’ final destroy them. And who was it that ignored 17 UN resolutions including resolution 1441 which stated that Iraq had to disarm or face consequences from the world? It was the dictator Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Who was firing at US and British pilots nearly everyday in the Iraq no-fly zone? It was Saddam's military. Who shot and gassed and murdered nearly 500,000 Iraqis, It was Saddam Hussein and his lackeys. Who was it that broke the cease fire from the 1991 Gulf war? It was Saddam Hussein and his lackeys. Who had weapons that were banned from their country due to the 1991 Gulf War and the fact that they were shooting them at Israel at that time? Again it was Saddam. Are you starting to get the picture? We did not want more war but when war is at your foot step you have to respond. And after 9/11 and the fact that we knew Saddam had terrorist allies we simply could not wait for another city in the USA to end up burning like New York, Pennsylvania, and the Pentagon had with our 3,000 dead.

Were we supposed to wait for a mushroom cloud over Atlanta, LA, SF, or some other US City before we responded again? How many dead Americans did we need to see before we started to fight back? No one wants war, but when you have to fight to save Americans lives and our interest I am glad there are many patriotic Americans like my family and myself who stand up for all Americans, even liberals.

    Godless Society,

You are an absolute moron. Raising taxes on higher incomes (1) does not make others richer, and (2) is morally wrong. Just because someone has made or makes more money than you does not give you (or the government, for that matter) the right to tax those individuals substantially more simply because they have been successful.

godless, your ignorant comments are just laughable. The USA has not tortured anyone, and waterboarding is not torture, heck it is not even illegal in the USA. Christians do support war if the war is to save more Christians lives. Hussein Obama is the one that is creating more poverty in the USA with his moronic policies he is pushing. Who started this current economic crisis we are in, it was Democrats that refused oversight and regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Dodd, Frank, Raines, Johnson, Clinton, and yes Obama all fought against oversight and further regulation of the two government run organizations that started this mess.

President Bush cut the lowest federal income tax rate for the poor from 10% to 0%, a 100% tax cut. The next lowest fed tax bracket was cut from 15% to 10%, a 33% tax cut. The next two average rates were cut from 31% and 28% to 25%, and average tax cut of 15% for the middle class, and the highest two tax brackets at 39.6% and 36% were cut to 33% for an average tax cut 12% for the so-called rich, i.e., the hardest working Americans. So who got the biggest tax cuts under President Bush? It was the poor. So when you make your false and ignorant 'jacked up' taxes comment be ready for someone like me with facts. Because godless society, you are clueless.

The thing I fault him for most is the polarizing effect he has had on Republicans and Democrats. I am neither one, but it saddens me to see the incredibly negative posts from both sides.

He needs to put his "Mandate" into proper perspective. In the primary he beat a woman whose husband was her biggest liability, and in the general election he beat an elderly war hero who had to add a whack-job running mate to his ticket to lose.

That is an interesting point seeing is how the top 2% foot the majority of the tax bills in our country. But again, no liberal ranting about how unfair the Bush tax cuts are to the middle class when they disappear next year. I guess the fact that the unemployed got a raise this year and I didn't doesn't mean much since I only make about 39K a year...but I am expected to spend this huge about of money that will equal 14.00 a week out of my check from the stimulus money. Yeah, I sure do have confidence in President Moronobama.

NHLucly. give up now. It's recorded FACTS that FDR tried to put money into America's infrastructure, but it was still a failure. Only when America went to war did the economy juggle back, because of the needed military building of bombs aircrafts, tanks, jeeps, clothing, food and more to mention. As Proud Verteran stated, get your facts right the first time. "It takes less time to do something right, than to explain why you didn't." What you will see in the future is a failed government, because it will grow into a mountain of debt and no one will take the job in government because it will be beyond repair. What do you think happened with this Presidential election? No intellingent person wanted the job, so they put someone in office that could fail and American can deliver the reason. No experience.

You really can't compare the two wars. In WWII we had the draft, and thousands of "civilians" went to war. We were largely a manufacturing country that now had thousands of vacant positions that were filled by women. These women were not already part of the labor force and employers paid them a fraction of what the men were making. Back then if you were wounded in battle, you probably did not live because of less antibiotics, more infection, etc. So when the war ended, there were more jobs available (less men) and women went back home. Our economy is totally different now. More than 1/2 of women are already working and we don't make anything here anymore. I know you learn from history, but saying what worked for one time will work now does not take into consideration everything that has changed. Vietnam did not help the economy at all (well then again, it was not a war, was it).

People! Whether the US Government goes into debt to buy guns and tanks or to build roads and bridges doesn't really matter. It is still D-E-B-T. The fact is that the government debt increased by factor of at least 5 -- that is it quintupled -- during WWII.

If you check your history, FDR's programs worked until he was leaned on by
Republicans to cut them back. Unemployment was cut in half between 1933 and 1936, when it rose after government spending was cut back because of concerns about debt.

WWII gave the US Government ample and justified reason to go to whatever lengths is took, including MASSIVE federal deficits and debt, to defeat the Axis powers. The fact that the taxpayers were paying for tanks, planes and ships doesn't mean it wasn't massive federal spending for which bonds, securities etc (DEBT) were issued to finance them.

It is the best example of a massive injection of cash in US history, and it worked. Serious times call for serious measures. President Obama understands this and the economy is already stabilizing.

The expanded manufacturing base was important --- I agree. But remember that inlcuded in the current stimulus and budget are strong incentives for manufacturing -- especially in the field of energy. It doesn't really matter whether we are manufacturing tanks or wind turbines, the effect is the same.

I hope that all of you remember this in a year or two when things are better.

Oh, well -- nobody is suggesting starting WWII again. It is offered as an example of massive federal debt that was necessary to handle a serious situation. To illustrate that injections of federal cash can be appropriate and highly successful. Just an example. You know, it is just a way to give some background, history, context? Get it? What Mr. Obama is doing has been done before with good results. That's the point of the example. Oh, and BTW, it is going to be succesful this time too.

You are correct Joe. The other person that said WWII spending lifted us out of the depression is wrong. The depression was over in 1931. WWII did not start until 1941 and hurt the recovery with the amount of spending. Same with all the other tax and spend governements we have had. People are preparing for the last Tax and Spend government type era we had... Carter... with 25% home loans. 90% on the 'rich' that stopped ALL commerce. No one could buy a house. No one could afford anything. Unemployment was at the highest since the Great Depression.

I am always amazed that people do not know their history. Anyone that is stupid enough to say WWII pulled us out of the depression should not be listened to for anything! They are just political drones... hacks of the biggest proportion!

I understand that Pres. Obama's personal approval ratings are high and his policy ratings a lot lower. I think I or anyone could help or solve economic problems for a SHORT time too if I had trillions of dollars to throw at it with very very little accountability. This is a budget that is bigger than all the budgets combined for the last 200 years. The money Govt. gives us or anyone, eventually has to come from us, watch out!

Also note that I became a citizen of the USA after coming from Australia 38 years ago. It has been wonderful to join in the patriotism that DID exist. Alas, now our leaders and many of the people living here hate one another. e.g. This administration trying to criminalize the proceeding admin. (note: not the one before that). No one seems to understand that it is Americans fighting Americans. A house divided WILL fall.

When DDE left office in 1960, the national Debt was 2.4 billion.
So he manged to pay that debt down, pluse what we borrowed to conduct operations, in Korea.
          Manufacturing works, bailouts, don't

Jerry, you reinforce my point. Debt financing is an instrument of public policy and finance. You run it up when you need to and then you pay it down. Kind of like getting a mortgage. Or are you against that too?

Debt financing isan instrument of public policy
You do it on an as needed basis, trying to hold it to a nore more that 3% maximum.
We will exceed that. Mr Obama, is trying to get all of these things done, now, immediately. He believes and is correct, that if he does not get committments on his "Green" programs, and Universal health ins. this year, he won't get it done.
He is correct. I'll refrain from commenting on his green program, and his insurance plan, becuse I believe he is deliberately low balling the numbers and what his actual intenntions are. We won't know till we are committed to the point, wherebwe can't back out, when we do find out.
Young, intelligent, charismatic men, like Mr Obama, seem to believe that they can jawbone any one around to his position.
Mr Obama, came to us as a short time politicias, via academia.
I'm sorry, neither of those are good preparation, for running a multi trillion dollars GDP econcomy.
That is about to be pointed out to him, in a very disturbing way, he is about to find out, that business and those people with money to invest, will listem]n to very little, he says.
Patriotic, I think I have a fair claim to that. I spent 4 years in the USMC 18 months of that, in Viet Nam, while my peers, were on their way to Canada and Jane Fonda was having her picture taken in an North Vietnames anti air craft, weapon.
I still have fantasies of her walking, in front of my vehicle at a stop sign.
Yes, I did support Korea, I suppoerte the attack on Iraq, but not the occupation.
I belive that George Bush should be in Federal penitentary, for the murder of the young people that were killed there.
I believe he should be sharing that cell with Barak Obama.
The one thing that the military deserves to know, is that, if their government, puts them into a place and a situation, where they stand a good chance of being killed, that it's important and can't be done, any other way and that their government will support them in every way with in the power of that country.
Whe they re killed so that G Bush, B Obams and H Clinton, will be awarded white hats from the rest of the world for being really nice guys, they shoud be in cells, till the ones killed, come back to life

NHLucky-661693 - Wait and see? If Obama had done that from the start without throwing $TRILLIONS$ away in a phony "stimulus", we'd already be in better shape than we are right now. Why do I say this? I say it because historically these situations don't last this long unless someone does the wrong thing. Obama's spending spree has placed more insecurity and fear into investors/Wall Street, and delayed our recovery.

Granted, something needed to be done, but throwing money into all of the useless and fruitless programs wasn't the answer. I'd elaborate on what should have been done, but I'd just be asking for more flames from the liberal flamers who jump on anyone with a different opinion.

I just don't want to see the Liberal Dems come back after a few more months and say "see....Obama fixed it", which would not be accurate. Anything currently in plan won't actually hit the economy until late 2010, if that soon. By that time, we would have already recovered anyway, without his "help".

Greg- thank you for proving my point - stay where you are please since you are obviously not who I am trying to reach out to as I typically seek adult conversation.

We can’t do anything about you or the republican party who crucifies centrist - BUT we can do something about the Dems. Which is why independents/moderates should join the Dems and influence their policy to the center.

                    The democratic party stands for:

                    - - Restoring our standing in the world as moral leaders

                    - - Restoring America’s economic strength by shoring up banks/auto/homeowners until they we bounce back – and we will

                    - - Restoring the our economy and taking advantage of the opportunities that it provides

                    - - Energy independence (finally getting out of bed w/Big oil and looking at long term green energy alternatives)

                    - - Correcting environmental issues that are damaging the planet for generations to come

                    - - Healthcare reform to prevent businesses from going bankrupt due to astronomical and unchecked and unregulated health care costs

                    - - Education reform so we can have more college grads than anyone in the world and stop shipping jobs overseas because of talent shortages on our own shores

                    - - National security - that doesn’t cost American lives to show "strength"

                    - - Effective “right size” government that works for the people and our interest

What is the republican response to all the serious domestic issues? Tax cuts, small government, spew silly scare tactics like “socialism” and saying NO to anything Obama says. Of course they don’t have to explain what that means in terms of solutions, policy, etc. for the American people.

That is why republicans spew so much negative toxic crap - because they have no solutions, no new ideas, no vision, no plans, no courage and hopefully soon- no new seats in the house or senate.

Because of people like Greg and the rest of the rabid “foaming at the mouth” republicans focusing on this so called culture war they have allowed the Dems to appear as the sensible ones. Dems are the new moderates - ok fine. I have no allegiance to either party so I will roll with them because they are the best thing for the country. They are the ones with the solutions while republicans are still looking for Obama’s birth certificate.

The republican party needs to get it together and start listening to moderates like McCain, Snowe, and stop attacking them - before they lose more independents and moderates who, like it or not, are the most important electorate.

But Greg- please enjoy your next tea party.

There's another major factor in the post Great Depression that you're overlooking. Back then, we still had an expanding population of working age. Now, we're just barely breaking even (and we're losing ground if you take out immigration). Russia, W. Europe, Japan, and I think even China have aging populations and shrinking work forces. So if the demographics show that your population is getting older, these aren't people who are planning to make lots of big purchases yet in their lifetime. We got out of the depression because there were people still looking to buy things. But what are we doing these days -- trying to discourage children (it's an expensive endeavor, so if I'm self-centered, I won't want many) and making it easier to kill them off.

We can’t do anything about you or the republican party who crucifies centrist

Am I understanding you correctly when you imply that a person who is in favor of "Partial birth abortion" is a "centrist"? If so, wow... you're WAY out there!

A political party that welcomes people who take full term babies that are still in the womb, and approves puncturing their heads and sucking their brains out, then whacking up the remaining pieces and throwing them in the trash... I don't think I, or ANYONE who has a heart or conscience could EVER be part of such a party. I don't hang with people who murder babies.

...just another politician, not a true leader, true leaders were Lincoln and FDR. Persons who had to make truly tough decisions. A very wise statesman once said, ".... all countries (nations) engage in propoganda....not just the communists, socialists, fascists....America is guilty of the same, and if you don't believe this is true it simply means our propoganda is working ...very, very well! He might be President Barbi, but he isn't a leader at all. He has done nothing but blame republicans for the countries problems. Yes the last president was republican, but Congress was predominantly made up of democrates. Maybe you should GET OVER your infatuation with Obama and his lies and wake the hell up!. This country is going done hill fast and the only cure is to take all those in Washington and kick them the hell out one way or another.

No, Emmy... Congress was "predominantly made up of democrats" only the last two years of the previous administration. Most of the last 8 years was a reckless train that brought the US (and the world) economy to the brink of collapse. Barbi is right... Get over it!!

The 'republican' congress was republican controlled in name only. The 3 repubs who voted with the dimocrats to pass the 'stimulous' bill without even knowing what was in it are directly to blame for it happening. Now, one of those has finally decided to be honest about his agenda, placing his reelection above everything, and changing parties because he would've been beaten in the primary election. I would guess the other 2 of those 3 may decide to be honest for once in their life and admit to being a democrat running as a republican so they can get elected. As soon as the republicans clean out those who campaign on supporting the Constitution but turn their backs on it as soon as they are elected, if that actually happens, then the US has a chance of surviving. If that doesn't happen, then we can all just bend over and kiss it goodbye.

Failure to appoint key positions. Failure to change the partisan power structure. Failure to protect America by weakening our military intelligence. Failure to impress our allies by showing weakness to our enemies. Mostly, Obama has a terrifying sense of megalomania, and an exagerrated sense of self importance. He said, "This election is about YOU." His ass-kissing to murderous regimes will only weaken America's reputation. So WHAT that we waterboarded only 3 people. Obama is much too focused on our reputation, and fatally UN-focused on protecting America. He is a clueless, hapless, feckless power-hungry egomaniac that will only keep going in this stupid direction. He is bankrupting America just so he can make a big splash in the history books. Personally, I believe my perception is 100% accurate: Obama wants to be the global community organizer - a foolish gamble that is putting our enemies at an advantage we can not afford. And, this is not what we elect a person to do. His only job is to protect Americans. Period. And he is NOT doing that.

The media is too funny. They get caught up in their own demise. MSNBC had a poll listed about a month ago and ran until 04/27/09 when the figure came out about President Obama having high numbers. Now below is what I want to show you. it is from the MSNBC page.

                        "Give President Obama a grade"

"The page you are seeking has expired and is no longer available at msnbc.com."

This poll was removed from MSNBC's page on 04/27/09
Now here is the story they posted today 04/29/09

"Poll: Obama gets high marks for first 100 days"

Now for those of you that did not get to see the prior poll, here are the numbers on giving President Obama a grade. Now also keep in mind, there were over 326 million votes in. A = 37% B = 3% C = 2% D = 10% F= 48% Now if you know anything about math, you can see 58% gave the President a failing grade, as D and F constitutes failure. Now imagine the embarrassment MSNBC would go through running this poll and a poll saying
"Poll: Obama gets high marks for first 100 days" which they ran today. too, too funny. Caught in the act. Too bad some people are smarter than them to figure it out. The media says a poll, such as the first one, is not a scientific poll. They want us to believe that they can contact 100 people, of their choice and call it scientific. Now think about 100 people as compared to 326 million people. Even if people got onto a different PC to vote, let's say they did and voted 2 times. That is still 163 million votes. Now you be the judge. If you want to believe everything the media is telling you, go right ahead. Your life won't change for the good.

You may say 8 years of bad governance but if you truly check it, we had six very very good years and we were not attacked again. Ask americans if they want their homes and their families safe and you will be truly amazed and the high percentage that would give the previous administration pretty high marks on this. The last time I looked Congress was in charge of the purse strings, not the president, and the Congress has been dominated by the Democrats since 2006. Lets not Jump to crown Obama King as yet, I really am afraid of what is to come with all of this spending. We will all, even our children and grandchildren, really have to pay then. So, no I dont have any confidence in what I see being done by the Obama administration because, even without all of this spending, America would have dug itself out. Now we have an enormous bill for all of it and we still have to go through all of the pain anyway????????????? So why are we dragging our kids and grandkids into the mix?????????????

8 yrs. is a very long time. the mess that was created by the pass president was done right from the start of his leadership up to the end of it. It just gotten worst and worst by decisions being made without careful thinking and considerations.

The blaim is not just on the leader though, but everyone around him and all of us who takes advantage of the system. Because the president should lead and make final decisions he should be held accountable by pushing agendas that are not credible, without careful that's why we are in this situation right now.

War for example, is damaging to one's family, imagine the whole country, and what about the whole world. I do not desagree helping others, but we also have to think of lost lives, lost future, and lost children of our so called great nation, or the amount of money being thrown away. These are money most needed right here inside our own backyard. Don't get me wrong, I do applaud our young militaries for going out there and bravely battling for a cause, but really, which cause is it? Bush created a war of the world and were in it for a very, very long time. President Obama will have to stop it but it is not gonna happen just like that. It took Bush 8 yrs to create it, I don't think Obama is a miracle worker. I'm really sure we voted a great President, but to end or change what was done by someone else's arrogance and mistakes in 100 days in office, lets give him a helping hand instead, then maybe slowly we can overcome and make some changes by giving him all the support he's gonna need to battle problems created by others. Pres. Bush, I considered a trigger happy, arrogant, yet should be known an okay president in some ways. But overall with the downfall of our economy and the constant war going on among other serious issues, became one of the worst president ever!

I will support President Obama and would pray that he will find solution to every problems were facing right now. We are at war not just in Iraq and other countries, but we are at war within ourselves. We create our own enemies. What we need now is to put aside our own political agendas and help out within our own backyard. Talk to our children about the issues, for I think the real solutions would start right inside our homes and our communities. We love this country so much as well as the whole world, we just have to help protect our children for they are the future leaders that will continue our legacy. God help President Obama!

In responce to this slanderous, opinionated, rhetoric. Yes you are correct Obama is the US President., it would be no different if it were anyone else. Republicrats, as I like to call them, have been dissapointing for a lot longer than the last 8 years. The reason we are in the current state in which we are is because we have been to blind to see that our vote actualy matters and we have not decided to vote for REAL CHANGE. We keep voting strictly 2 parties, and we have given the Republicrats the power to turn our democratic nation into a socialist government. The solution: Vote in a new party. Let's get back to basics and downsize our government instead of our workforce and monetary value. Suggestion: Take the trillions of dollars that we've given to failed giant corporations and disperse evenly amonst the tax payers. I garauntee if this was the answer it wouldn't have been trillions and still would have been enough to sky-rocket our economy. WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH $50,000 (enter your random number). You would not lose your house (Highest forecloser rate in over 20 years) and most importantly, you wouldn't lose your job (Highest unemployment rate in as many years) because you would spend some if not all of it and BAM economy saved. Simplicity has never been the easiest route for any politician, because its too hard to hide the rake and alterior motive.

Obama and his administration are saddling America with more and more debt. The first TARP bill written be Paulson, a Democrat, should never have been approved by President Bush. Bush authorized the first have to be spent, $350B, and Obama spent the remaining $400B. Now Hussein Obama has put forward a $410B '09 budget, a $787B so-called 'stimulus' bill, and $3.7 trillion in spending in 2010. He is going to bankrupt America. Obama is obviously clueless when it comes to economics as well as foreign policy. Heaven help us all as we will be paying for this outrageous spending for generations to come.

Nobody-87413, you answered the question. NOBODY. When you spend money and there is nothing to back it, what has been accomplished? When there are holes that need to be plugged, spending money won't close the holes. Find the root cause and fix it. Taking over banks, insurance companies, car companies, etc, etc, etc, is not the answer. Find the problem and you will have an answer. Does anyone put money into pockets with holes?

Interesting how the GOP are whining about all the debt

when they were the ones who started all the borrowing

to pay for their war. They sold out America to China and

                            call themselves patriots.

Their War? Someone has a short memory. By 9/12, this country was ready to bomb and invade anywhere that Bin Laden might have been living.

Remember the American flags being abused by people who flew them on their cars until they were rags? The problem is that when President Bush said it was going to be a long war, most people figured 8 weeks or so. That's not what he meant.

As an independant, I find it fascinating that so far, our current president has done exactly what he said he would (if you listen to his supporters) and exactly the opposite of what he said he would (depending on what that was). My point is that he said he would not need nor would he ask for additional money for the wars. (he has). He said he would bring bi-partinship (a promise he had no chance of keeping). He said he would stop pork barrel spending (then signed a budget that contained more than any previous budget). He said he would make government more transparent (then refuses to release memos from the previous administration). Just to name a few...

If you support him just because he isn't George W. Bush, then stop and realize he isn't running against the previous administration, he's not running against anyone or anything. He has not so far shown that he can run anything but a high-tech grass roots campaign, unfortunately technology and grass roots aren't what our country needs now. He promises, but does not deliver - seems like just another politician to me.

Sad that all that hope has been wasted, while nothing has changed. - and yes, I voted for him.

His election team is to be congratulated as they sold smoke a mirrors to the masses. Change? There has been no change. You have Clinton personnel in offices. What about the 5 nominees that are tax evaders? This man was sold and marketed as the Great Changer. So far he has entered us in a so called stimulus package the OGS audit group says will cost us $10 trillion dollars in 9 years. How is this recovery. All he is doing is rearranging the wealth. Hmm isn't that called Socialism? This president has no clue as to what to do or how to do it. America you got sold down the river to a bill of good that will never deliver.

I hope that all of you remember this in a year or two when things are better.

FormerSGT- The top 2% do not pay most of the taxes. Have you read Pulitzer-Prize winning authors Bartlett & Steele "America: Who Really Pays the Taxes?"? It came out around 1990-3 and is still available online. It details the massive shift of income tax burden from the wealthy and coprorations to the middle class during the 1980's. Also, don't forget the 52,000 wealthy Americans as well as corporations who offshore their income in the Cayman Islands and Swiss bank accounts to avoid paying any taxes.

Ask Warren Buffett if he pays a marginal tax rate higher than those who work for him (hint: he said no). Even Warren Buffett thinks the wealthy need to pay more taxes.

Ok... knock off the B.S. about, "our children and grandchildren will have to pay off this debt" is GOP propaganda crap you have fallen for hook, line and sinker! No one likes incurring more debt, but what you don't understand is that the past administration has left us no choice! This is the only resolution. Doing nothing or Not investing enough will not stop an economic downturn or spur economic growth. Once the banks stop lending the Government is forced to step in!

Moreover, This is an unprecedented calamity, and the most severe economic decline since the 1930's forcing the US Government to take extreme action in order to remedy our economy. Thus, forcing us into further debt! What you Don't Get is the US Government has No Choice but to invest Billions and Billions into America's economy in order to stop the downward economic spriral, and foster economic recovery and expansion. Every Economist knows that!! Send your Thank you Note to the Village Idiot no longer missing and residing in his New Home in Texas.... And Don't forget to send one to his cohorts the GOP while you're at it! Eight years of lax or void regulation and greed, has contributed to the economic calamity of today.

God bless Pres Obama and his team. They done an outstanding job in addressing the catastrophic crisises in such a short time. It will take much more time to fix the damage created over (8) years!

Common sense, you're talking nonsense, your writer was evidently, another quasi socialist.
The IRS posts the breakdowns on who pays what and when.
Last year all figures are in for, 2005, the top 5% of income earners, in individual income taxes, payed 95% of all individual income taxes.
                            53% of filers payed nothing.
16% of filers who payed no taxes, get refunds.
You don't like those numbers, talk to the IRS.

My wife explained "the Obama syndrome" the best.  You see, there is an extremely large segment in society; black, white, etc. who have been raised without a father.  Raised by women.  And because they were raised by women they have no recognition of what a father figure is or should be.  These folks reject Bush or any form of leadership.  They prefer a cult figure, a likeable person without military experience.  She told me that it has everything to do with being raised by a woman.  It's almost like watching Oprah or Dr. Phil.  They prefer their leader to not actually lead, but talk them through their problems.  It may work for a counseling session, but not for America.  It's absolutely pathetic that the liberals have created this quagmire of society.  We have homes without families.  Families without a moral foundation.

Notice all the republican morons who are bashing Obama about what he is DOING, are not saying that we should have listened to the republican leaders and done what they recommended!

Remember they only came up with their lame response after the president called them out. You see- its easy for the republicans to NOW focus on spending - but lets think about what the last 100 days would have looked under republican rule.

Imagine what our economy would look like if they were running the show – remember their stance has always been to "deregulate" which set up the circumstances for this mess!

Those same morons preached – do nothing! The markets will correct themselves! Let the financial industry fail! Let the banks fail! Let AIG (who insures everything including life insurance policies, businesses, etc).

They believe this would have worked because of the antiquated trickle down economic philosophy and the abysmal track record of holding business accountable.

Our markets were in a free fall, the entire financial system would have completely collapsed because the gutless wonders called the republican party didn't have a clue what to do. NOW- the idiots have become so called experts- NOT!!!

If we would have let the republicans have their way we would have been irreparably harmed. There is not a nation in the world that would have confidence we could recover and we would have been EXTREMELEY vulnerable to all kinds of attacks.

Now you have the sorry a** republicans are doing what they always do – spew a bunch of crap, play politics, manipulating the truth, lying and solve nothing.

Republicans are the party of NO
                                  No new ideas
                                  No solutions
                                  No taxes
No heart (The hypocritical so-called party of life supports guns, war, and torture – EXTREMELY un-Christian)
                                  No sense

The economy was doing just fine untill the Democrats gained control of congress..Then all hell broke loose...Show me how i am wrong...

Greg- that is your comeback??? I called you names????

No counter-point that discredits anything I said about the total lack of viability of the republican party??

What is the republican alternative??!! Because of dimwits like you - INDEPENDENTS don't have a choice but to go with the Dems who are trying to move this country forward and in positive new directions.

Republicans have gotten so arrogant and self-righteous that they forgot how to negotiate. Its either their way or the highway = well wake up republicans - most of the country would rather take the highway than follow you!

All you do is sit around and complain and are systemic of the desperate need for change in the republican party.

Until republicans can figure it out - all independents should close rank with the Dems!

                                          Pamela you are hugely misinformed!

Before you think anything I did not vote for Bush or obama!

The democrats in congress while B Clinton was in office started threatening Freddie Mac and Fannie May to start lending to less than worthy lenders! Not to mention the Interest only loans and the 5 year arms!

It is the fault of both parties! I am one of the Independant's and I for sure am not siding with the old repub's or the socialist democrats!

PWA- You are not getting it and I think you are to far gone for that fact to ever change. I am not misinformed - check out he headlines today - obviously the republican leadership is starting to hear me and others like me because they are now launching a National Council for a New America designed to win us back.

Let me see if I can explain it better - for every finger republicans point the dems can do the same - both have legitimate arguments. And guess what? At this point in the game most people don’t care anymore and are only interested in the best solutions our leaders can provide.

The Dems have laid their solutions out for scrutiny...Obama approached republicans, reached out to the country’s best economist and other business leaders. Uhmmm - that’s called inclusiveness. Like it or not, right or wrong -- at least they have a coherent plan.

What is the republican response? Start a culture ware, say no to everything Obama, preach small gov, tax cuts, and personal responsibility - how exactly does that help us address an economy on life support, energy, national security, health care, national security, infrastructure, job creation, the environment, etc? I'm talking specific policy, ideas and measures that resolve our MAJOR issues.

The republicans are giving each other high fives for every Fox News cheap shot to Obama and opposing everything he is saying, mudslinging, finger pointing and name calling. This fires up your so called base but what is this doing for the country’s perception of the republicans ability to solve anything?

For Goodness sake - republicans are the FISCAL conservatives and are supposed to have the brightest financial minds but they what are they leading the discussion with? Obama is a socialist and tax cuts! WTF???

Do you realize that only 25% of this country trust republicans to resolve - that is 14 points less than Dems??? Do you know why? I’ll tell you why - just read the crap on this post and it gives a clear indication of where republicans are - nowhere positive.

People like you and the others on this board are DESTROYING the republican brand. Republicans can not win elections because they are constantly attacking moderates and independents. Moderates and independents (a.k.a. swing voters) decide elections - period.

Unless you are a rightwing nut, then you are not welcome in the republican party. Fine - I, along with millions of other moderates will close ranks with the Dems until they can weed out the nut jobs.

What I am proposing in my posts are for moderates and independents to accept the fact and leverage our strength join a party where we can force them to the center of politcs At least we can influence them - because it is clear we no longer have a place with republicans.

Obama does not have a clue.  He is a joke.  His advisors reflect his lack of knowledge and experience.  Thia is sad but it is the price we pay when people did not demand answers to difficult questions during the election.  people were swept up by a news medis with "tingles" down their legs and no hard questions.  People will get the government they deserve.  Enjoy.

Your whole post shows your inability to understand how politics work in Washington or anywhere else. Just because he graduated from Harvard doesn't make him smart or intelligent. He can surely read off a TelePrompter.....but last I checked he acts like a college educated idiot that can't tie his shoes without Rombo's approval. What people need to understand is America USE to be the biggest manufacturing country in the world. We have grown our of that to the the least and to boot only a Servicing Country. When the the media makes a statement that Wall Street is drastically falling, the big investors begin pulling out. That is what hurts the economy. When investors pull out, companies lose there investors that help keep the companies afloat. When companies close, jobs are lost, and people tighten up. they don't go out and spend as usual. That, in turn, hurts the small business. They end up closing and laying off the few people they have, Then there are the people that get into a supervisory position. They don't know how to manage, and Pi$$ off the good workers, who leave. Then they hire more incompetent people. What you will see is a country run by incompetent people. It's already happened in Washington at the top.

                                              Three reasons, you say?

                                              1. He set a deadline for leaving a war based on lies.

                                              2. He met with world leaders at the G20 summit and, instead of dictating, he LISTENED.

                                              3. He understood that, by not helping the financial institutions, he would usher in a world economic collapse, and then appropriated funds accordingly. Which, by the way, was what Bush said would be needed before he (thank God) left office.

I can name more if you like.....

Harry Truman? LBJ? By turns, Herbert Hoover and then FDR? Seems to me that most Presidents take on a LOT of stuff. It's not what they have on their plate that determines whether or not they are up to the job - but how well they deal with it. So far Obama doesn't seem to be doing so well because instead of taking charge and LEADING the nation, he's bullying it and doesn't seem to care about the people and undermining the nation overseas. And he seems to be wanting to speak out about EVERYTHING - even though most things do not require him to say anything at all.

                                              Yep - Jimmy Carter II

He set a deadline. As i recall hae is fast approchingthe deadline set by Mr Bush, to leave Iraq. It's apparent already, he will be tthere longr than Bush's dead line. Which is okay, Bush's deadline was BS, also.
WE will be in Iraq, for at least another 10 years, there will be several presidents wiith deadlines for that.
He met with world leaders and listened. Now that, is something, we all listened, we didn't accomplish anything, either.
Mr Obama, gave away huge amounts of money to banks, he has yet, to accomplish anything.
The correct answer here would have been, nothing, he hasn't had time.
Yet you supporters continuee to defend him, as though he should have solved all the problems, already.
Here is some information, for you.
George Bush, did not help crucify Jesus.
George Bush, did not introduce Monica Lewenski to Slick Willy.
One of the reasons, you have no credibility, is every response incorporates the words "It was Bush's fault".

It seems the wingnuts have infiltrated MSNBC. Someone let them out of the sewers they were hiding in. Your President crashed our economy and you are badmouthing Obama? THIS IS THE WAY YOU GET OUT OF A RECESSION THIS DEEP. I hope you lose your job and house.

OUShark is an OU idiot. He went there 4 years to get another high school education! To put it simply, Obama bowed to the Saudi King. He might as well have put a bar of soap on a rope on his half-white self. ANYONE can apologize for someone else to make friends. I bet OUShark apologized for all of the OU fans when they lost to Texas last year. It made him a lot of friends in Texas, but his turds at OU didn't appreciate that. (hint: that's what Americans feel about Obama's betryal to us). Oh yeah, how's that friendship with the Castros? or Ahmadinejad? You see any improvement, you nimrods? You see? Your liberal professors were all wrong. You were decieved back in school. You were educated to be an idiot.

Well, first you assume I went to school at OU. Sorry, Tulane. Second, what Obama did is NOTHING compared to what Bush did to the Saudi King. And all he got out of it was a bicycle!!

Texas won fair and square. No arguments. Just Like Texas Tech. Except that OU was close for most of the game. Tech throttled the Horns for most of the game.

I was a lifelong Republican, like my father and his father. Until George Bush and the sellout to the lunatic fringe. And you just proved my point with your post. Thanks!

What would I have done. Simple, first cut government spending on unnecessary and unconstitutional social programs, second cut small business taxes and corporate taxes. Next cut the tax rate on Capital gains. Then cut personal income taxes on on the average citizen. Reduce regulation on business that are restrictive and prohibitive, but we need to keep the rules of law and oversight. These simple steps would help stimulate the economy a thousand fold over what Hussein 'the Kenyan Communist" Obama has done.

The GOP has had many ideas on what to do to stimulate the economy but if you only listen to Olbernazi on MSNBC and there other vile hosts that have tingles running up their legs you would never know as MSNBC and the other alphabet networks are all run by liberals who are incapable of telling the truth. All they say is the GOP has no plan other than to say no, what a bunch of lying leftists. These networks are more like an extension of the Obama administration. This Hussein Obamas economic plans, it is called Obamanomics, i.e. trickle up poverty.

You can look over the last 60 years of amdministrations and find faults and disagreements wether you are a Democrat or Republican. The left is always going to want to support what the left wants and the right is always going to support what the right wants and they are both going to lambaste the other party because it doesn't agree with their "Better Plan" It is time to put all this crap aside, quit the name calling erase the lines that have been drawn and work together to maintain this great nation of ours. I have served for over twenty two years in the military under both parties so no one can go out and call me unamerican for saying this. Democrats controlled both houses for half the time the last President was a Republican, so it's pretty hard to blame one party over the other for a financial mess that might have corrected itself had the government not made it a "Crisis".

To clarify, make no mistake that the loosening of the lending standards that led to this mess where implemented in the 90's long before any Republican took over in the Oval Office. Don't blame this on any party or individual, it makes you sound mean as well as stupid.

The lending standards being reduced is what got us into this situation, plain and simple. - the lending standards were not reduced by or even during the previous administration but the one that controlled the White House for eight years prior... This is fact, not folley so please be wise and act smart. Name calling is not the way to have a discussion that might result in us gaining a better understanding of each other's perspectives.

                                                      Former Sgt:

Hey, it's me, the person who got a job in Maine building that lobster museum that got me the extra cash I needed to buy the furniture made in Michigan that gave the guy who made it a job and the cash he needed to buy a meal in a restaurant that gave the cook, the waiter and owner the jobs and cash to buy the lawnmower made by John Deere that gave the lawn mower maker the cash to buy that half gallon of Florida orange juice. Or maybe take his kids on that trip to Disney. That's how the economy works and that's how it helps you in Florida, pal.

It is pretty shortsighted to say "How does that help me in Florida?" Putting people back to work, no matter what the work is, lifts the whole economy. Economics 101.

Whats your alternative to Obama 4 more years of Bush? Dust off McCain? How bout Bob Dole? How about a new idea from you clowns. Snarky quips about a person who is trying to get the country back where it should be from a bunch of losers who do not know how to win and now are showing us they do not know how to lose either !

What we ALL have to figure out is that the Libs must reject every single facet of the Bush Administration. (Iraq, the economy, etc).

What they fail to realize is that the economy has declined since November of 2007, which is the DAY the DUMOCRATS took over CONGRESS!!

Memory, it was not the GOP that landed us in the financial mess we are now in. More specifically it was Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who pushed for more home loans for those people who could not afford them. And then when they could not pay them back everything went into the crapper. They regulated to mortgage loans corporations that they were to make these bad loans and if and when these people that could not afford them in the first place and defaulted that Freddie and Fanny would by the loans. This is what started the whole mess and it was not President Bush, it was Democrats and a few left-wing Republicans, aka RINO's.

Also, it was President Bush who pushed for more regulation and oversight of Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac as that would have helped stop this mess before it started. But liberals socialist Democrats fought Bush the whole way and know we have the economy if a mess. Simple fact and truth, and you are wrong again.

And I am a Proud Veteran, I was proud to serve my country as was my father and brothers. However, none of us are proud of what Hussein Obama is doing. He is trying trying to turn our country into a communal-ism oppressive socialist country and away from an individual based free country. Obama is an anti-Constitutionalists by his own words as he stated that the 'The US Constitution does not state what the Government can do to citizens only what the Government can not do to Americans', and he said that in the context of wanting to do something to Americans. But he misses the entire point, the constitution was written that way for a reason as the US Government should not be imposing itself on Americans in any way by taking away more of our freedoms. Obama wants control of this country just like any third world banana republic leftist dictator. Obama has went around the world apologizing for the USA when no apology was necessary nor warranted. He has paled around with socialists and communist in an effort to get them to like him and all he is doing is hurting the people of those countries that are being oppressed and look to the USA for help and know they know that the Hussein Obama does not give a rats behind about them. And on top of that I believe he has committed treason by releasing the interrogation memos that are aiding and comforting our enemies. This aides our enemies as now they know what our interrogations included and comforted them by saying we are not going to use harsh interrogations to get information that will save Americans, our allies, or US national interests that may be attacked by our enemies. So no, I am definitely not proud of Hussein Obama, and that is the name he called himself while he was in Muslim countries last month, fact. Again, waterboarding is not torture, it is not even illegal in the USA.

I don't think the efforts of partisan politicians have ever or will have any real effect on the economy outside of slowing down the recovery. Increasing benefits for the unemployed are necessary but don't solve the problem. I guess if you want a government job the new plan is pretty good. The other herd can't fix it either. The blaming and posturing for rather dull reporters is lame and useless. We are being sold not led, this is nothing new both sides do it and their minions perpetuate the myth of governent, extolling the new state diety, cheering as we fall off the cliff.

Democrats have been running the House of Representatives since the end of 2006. And who has the purse in our government, it is the House of Reps. Also, The US Senate was controlled by Democrats in 2001, 02, 07, and 08 that is four of the last eight years. Obama signed and voted for the TARP bill so when he says he inherited a $1 Billion deficit he is lying! He did not inherit anything. He voted for all of the spending and the TARP bill. You take away the TARP bill and there was only a $100B deficit he had, but again he voted for the spending that got us to the $100B number. And when he entered office the deficit spending was $450B, not $1 Trillion like he keeps lying about. Obama is a lying embarrassment to the USA and the sooner we can get rid of this leftist radical the better off the USA will be.

Bush started it, but Oboma is sinking the ship. Everyone should put on their life preservers if they haven't already.

And name me one bill in the last two years that has been created that put out economy in this shape. Just one. And if any bill would have been passed by the Dems it would have been vetoes by Bush. The dems did not have power to over ride a veto.

Bush spent to much and was not a conservative when it came to spending, he was more like a liberal when it came to spending. That is why fiscal conservatives were never happy with Bush. I know I wasn't. While he did cut taxes, mainly for the poor, he did not cut enough social spending. The Federal Governments number One job is to protect eh US Constitution and the citizens of the USA, that means funding the military to protect the USA and our interest, which includes our allies.

And yes, this is again true fact, not folley. Check it out and you will see that when GWB inherited surplusses, the deficit was not gone, it just wasn't being added to, so when BHO talks about cutting the deficit, he simply means we won't be borrowing as much as we are now. As a nation, we'll be in debt for generations to come, just maybe not by as much when measured incrementally. Make Sense?

We have the same thing happening in our own state, they are threatening to "cut" services, when what they are in fact doing is not adding as much as they had planned. There is no cut, just not as much additional spending. Think of it this way, still three meals a day, but dinner will be meatloaf instead of steak. of teachers will continue to make what they do now, just not the 8% more that was in their contract.

                                                                  {"commentId":6735365,"threadId":"564188","contentId":"2737922","authorDomain":"davidppearson"}

Bush who is an oil man steals the election, then the next thing you know, we are attacked by "terrorist" So then we go over over to oil land to start a war, and THEY never even attacked us, but hey close enough right? Then Kerry was most likely bought off by the Bushes, because how on earth can you lose an election to GW, seriously. So the next thing you know oil prices go through the roof and then two years after that prices of everything except minimum wage go through the roof! Mean while back in the real world all the white people start to get a little more rascist. Thanks to folks like Rush. So out of Nowere like a shot to the skull comes Obama, check Einstien to see why this happened. So now you have the right with the hot VP running out of election money so then you have this bailout that needs to be done. The republicans are behind this crap. Obama is goin to make things equal again and so big business comes up with forums like this one cause they don't want it to happen. Big business thinks they run things people. As you will see. 50% are giving him a failing grade and that is out fo over 325 million people. Remember there are only around 350+ million people in America. People will whine that this is not a scientific poll. That is only because the numbers are rounded. As you know, they will whine about it being valid, until the number favor Obama, then they will back the poll 100%. That is the way they think.

                                                                  Hey memory, here are the facts on the Bush tax cuts that went mainly to the poor;

These are basic facts. I did not agree with the tax cut to the poor from 10% to 0%. I think everyone should have to pay some taxes. Perhaps he should have made the tax cut go from 10% to 5%, that would be a 50% tax cut but at least the lowest earners could feel good about giving a little something. Heck, the poor vote too and if you are voting you should be paying some taxes like the rest of us in America.

                                                                  {"commentId":6738882,"threadId":"564188","contentId":"2737922","authorDomain":"bhughes88"}

NHLucky, It is apparently that it is you that do not think outside the box as all you have are insults and lies. Every time you get smacked down with facts and truth you start calling names or screaming fox news. And there was nothing admirable about what the leftist socialist Terri stated above as there was zero meat to what she has stated. What was filibustered and why, she left out the facts behind her comment.

Under the plan, disclosed at a Congressional hearing today, a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry.

Among the groups denouncing the proposal today were the National Association of Home Builders and Congressional Democrats who fear that tighter regulation of the companies could sharply reduce their commitment to financing low-income and affordable housing."

''These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,'' said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ''The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.''

We already pay more in taxes than is reasonable. Now we are condemning our children and grandchildren to an unprecedented level of national debt and the requisite taxes that go along with it.

Let us keep our own money. We know how to spend it better than our fiscally incompetent politicians. Allowing them to engage in another spending frenzy to pay off their political benefactors is foolish.

This post hits it right on the head. Other than Al Gore inventing the Internet, where did Government ever go out and create wealth? When the economy is rolling, it is because WE the workers are producing, not because Congress and the President are setting ingenious economic policies. Listening to Clinton and Bush claim responsibility for the good economic years we enjoyed during their terms, and abdicating all responsibility for the economic disasters that hit us as they were walking out the door makes me sick. It was our hard work and genious that created wealth, just as it was our collective stupidity that put us in this mess by borrowing too much and living beyond our means. Why Congress and the President want to continue to borrow and waste more than we make is a gross misuse of their power.

Remember folks, WE THE PEOPLE have to pay back that ridiculous national debt gifted to us by BOTH political parties' overspending. The only thing that we can do to fight back is to kick them out of office.

I wished we would have learned our lesson from the last guy in office. It is obvious we didn't. We need to stand up and vote these clowns (both Republican AND Democrat) out of office and start fresh...all these ideas about government taking over private companies and our financial system is the wrong path to take. All of the spending bills, from both Republicans and Democrats, still have too much wasteful spending in them...I personally don't know how to change it, but we need to elect the right people in office who do.

Stop voting for a side and start voting for the person with sensible ideas. Both sides suck at the moment.

Wrong Eddie Driftwood!! In this type of extreme and dyer economic downturn, the only cure is for the government to pump billions and billions into the economy or face worse scenario such as a, depression !! Largely due to the fact that the Banks nearly stopped, and are still Slow in Lending!! Had the banks continued to lend, the government would not of had to spend nearly as much to stimulate the economy! The banks are in a sense the Central blood supply of an economy. When the blood stops circulating, (banks stop lending & money stops flowing through out the economy), then external measures such as the US gov't has to pump money into the economy to keep it circulating. Banks are the life blood of the economy, jand when they stop lending then the US Gov't becomes the bank of last resort! Ifwe have to borrow money to avoid an economic collapse, then so be it. We will do what ever we must to survive.

Too bad Bush spent our surplus left over from Clinton!

The last year he was in office he did not spend whet he forecasted as a deficit and called that a budget.
When Bill Clinton left office the national debt, was higher that it was when he went into office.
If you don't like that, don;'t blame me, I just read them them I don't vote on the spending.

The surplus deception was clearly discernible in the statistics of national debt. The national debt rose in 1998 (the first year of the surplus) from $5.413 trillion to $5.643 trillion in 2000. This was due to deficits of $112.9 billion in '98 - and $117 billion in '99.

                                                                                How you ask?

By partaking in the greatest grab into the "Social Security Trust Fund Surpluses" ever. Once upon a time – Social Security actually had a surplus too. The Clinton administration spent SS money and other trust funds, which were for obligations to present day and future recipients. Clinton consumed that money – thereby incurring obligations as binding as those to the owners of savings bonds. Yet – the Treasury treated this money from SS as revenue – and hails them for generating surpluses.

Slick Willie could not stand to see that money "go to waste." He robbed Peter (me) to pay Paul (his false legacy). If corporate executives were to engage in such deceit – the Commissioners of the SEC – would come down with both boots. But when it's the president of the United States – his appointees......looked the other way.

There are many ways to "tinker" with the numbers to make them read positively. Wall Street – Fannie and Freddie – the Banks....were doing it everyday...and just look where that got us? But don't believe the lie – Clinton robbed Social Security.....and created "that surplus"....in his mind!!

But what Clinton did do more than anything else – was benefit from the bubbling "internet boom", which grew into the trillion-dollar industry it is today. Clinton benefited from – "timing" and "stealing" - more than sound fiscal policy.

Bill Clinton benefited from Bill Gates.

And there is nothing wrong with good timing. There is nothing wrong with being in the right place at the right time, but to overlook the greatest invention since the wheel. Lip lock Willie benefited from timing, otherwise Monica would have stole the show....(lol)

And even with this great fortune (Gates not Monica) - Clinton himself has acknowledged that recession was creeping in during the final months of his administration.

                                                                                {"commentId":6754535,"threadId":"564188","contentId":"2737922","authorDomain":"olexart"}

True leaders were persons like Lincoln and FDR, people who had the fortitude to make truly hard decisions. A great statesman once said, "...all nations (countries) practice propoganda...not just the fascists, socialists, communists..but also America... and us to the greatest degree, if you don't believe we do then it simply means it is working very, very well!" .

Surprise. surprise....those same nuts are still in there and even more of them have been added due to the last election. And just exactly what have these bozos done? They've managed to spend even more money, get us more in debt (than any other congress), and for what? They're own personal gain..that's what.

I guess it's okay when your party's in charge, though, right? Just "par for the course".

Poor weather in Florida slumped sales, poor lending made it worse, construction market tanked and the Democrats scattered pointing the finger at Bush. Did he spend money yes but good Lord people wake up and smell the coffee. 9000 added pork bills in the plan...most going to Democrat sponsored organizations of communities.

Tools, at least the GOP has the nuts to stand up and say that we didn't agree on everything that Bush did. I called a insurance company to buy health insurance. The black lady on the phone started bragging how great Obama was. Then when she found out i was not agreeing with her she said to me (I am a devote socialists. i said do you mean communist socialists or just socialists) She said communists socialists and its time someone told the ignorant ones of this country what to do!! I said like Obama...she said yes. I told her i would contact her employer in the morning and report what she said to me and i would not buy insurance from that company.

Today's liberals are turning into socialist just like the Nazi's were. And how soon will it be before they turn into the soviet style communists. Hussein Obama is already paling around with brutal leftist dictators like Chavez and the Castro brothers, all of which are brutal left-wing socialists/communists that imprison their political opponents and rule their countries with an iron hands. Hussein Obama is turning out to be no different with his policies.

That's not the point of my response - We shouldn't be arguing, name calling, bashing our current admin. which is only into it's first 100 days because of past events or individuals. We didn't get into this mess within the last 100 days or 8 years it has accumulated of decades of bad policies. We need to be finding solutions!!!

We are a proud nation and everyone of us should be willing to do whatever! it takes to make sure that we stay the strongest! I don't mind paying a little more in taxes to make sure our country has what it needs to succeed.

That's right people, change starts here today, so everyone who agrees that Obama has done a good job, this is what you need to: First slam every single right wing nutcase on here, I mean badly, absolutely demolish them verbally. Then get out there in the real world and everytime you hear or see some dimwit at the gas station or the local dairy isle slamming Obama, let them have it, verbally, I mean really give it to them, verbally, and then as you walk away, point at them in a manner as if you are absolutely petrified of them and yell in a horrified manner, as you back away in absolute terror…"Nazi Republican! Bush came into office with a surplus from the Clinton Admin" it was not a true surplus as we still have never paid off the deficit. It's like saying everything is fine in your home finances because you can still make the minimum payments on your credit card bills and your mortgage - That's not okay. Anyone who thinks it is should, in my opinion, stop commenting on anything that touches on monetary policy from taxes to spending to how the current president is handling the economy. It's really not okay to plan to carry debt for the rest of your life. And that's what our nation is facing now with the current deficits. We not only have to stop overspending, we have to start paying down the principal and even Cliton didn't do that!

At some point we have to lock down spending enough to get ourselves out of debt, both personally and nationally...

Hey moderates and independents - take a real hard look at the comments on this and every other blog in the nation. These comments are the essence of what the republican party has become. These people represent who the republican party is today.

This is not just opposition to political ideas – this downright subversive, anarchist, unpatriotic rhetoric that republicans are now famous for – instead of common sense and solutions. Many of us who started out republican do not want any part of this horrible group of people – yes, we want a change we can believe in.

All republicans want to today do is sling mud, spread nasty and vicious propaganda and not provide a single solitary viable alternative solution - except tax cuts for the rich.

Republicans are now saying yes - to torture, yes - to assault rifles with no regulation on how to access them, yes - to starting wars with Iran and N. Korea and no to a woman's right to choose- because they are party of life.

Is that what you want to be a party of? Is that what you think will help this country address the economic issues (global and domestic), address housing, health care, education, energy?

Hopefully the answer is no – you don't and the good news is that you don't have to be!

We FINALLY have a president who cares about domestic issues and wants to address them. Take a hard look at the Dem party as an alternative – until the republicans can get their act together and get rid of the "good-ole-boy" relics and evangelical who have taken over the party.

Republicans are all hate and no solutions. Republicans don't have anything positive thing to say and nothing to offer. With that kind of negativity – there can be no optimism.

Be a part of the change – the Dems want to go centrist – lets help them.

                                                                                    {"commentId":6766893,"threadId":"564188","contentId":"2737922","authorDomain":"Pamela-Indiefox"}

Their style is to personally destroy anyone who opposes them. Just look at Sarah Palin. I have never seen a bigger witch hunt in my life. Republicans speak of family values. Democrats haven"t got a clue what that means. You wouls never see the GOP destroy a person the way thw Dems do. It all started with Clinton trying to destroy hid girl friends until the famoud dress showed up. And then there is the lying about everythin just to stay in power even if it means the down fall of the country. Again Clinton is the fatner of this tactic and the party is still following it today. Remember , you'll said the Republican Party was history afer the election of Johnson then 4 years later Nixon was elected. Look in your rear view mirror we'll be passing you in the fast lane as soon as the public wakes up to the mess Obama and his idiots are doing to this country.

The Dems capitalizing on the terrible choice of Palin over Romney has nothing to do with our economy, energy and other issues important to the American majority.

I just hope that obama does for the democratic party what Jimmy did for the reborn christians-eliminate them as a political force! Go give the Queen another Ipod and show the world that rap is your culture and only value. What an embarrassment- then for his woman to hug the Queen of England. I do not think the state dept apporoved that!

He has displayed the characteristics of a great Leader and Administrator. Evidence is clear that he walked in to a total disaster to have to clean up. The process will not happen over night and certainly not in 100 days. He is on the ball and has traveled to many countries showing the world that America is not the bad place Bush has made us out to be. Yes we have our downfalls as a country but he is showing the world that this country is in a position to change the mess we are in and it will take time.

Our children are excited about being an American. Are you seriously blind and stupid? Children are losing millions of teachers to educate them, their school days are being cut, many can't even learn because so much time is spent on the children who have legally and mainly illegally moved into our country and since they don't speak English teachers are being forced to spend more time teaching them then the children that do speak English. Their moms and dads are losing their jobs and most importantly their homes and having difficulty paying the bills just the basics like electricity and food and oh by the way the Food Banks shelves are empty. These children are watching as their pets they love are having to be given up because their parents can no longer afford to feed them or the vet bills. Now can you say that our children are proud to be Americans? What a totally crazy statement to make. Get real and learn the truth.
