NBCSports.com breaks down the qualities of the ultimate NBA player ... who best fits that description? Give us your take.
What Lebron brings to his team and his own multi-faceted abilities, makes him the Ultimate NBA Player
" 6'8" 250lbs " With such natural ability grace and power, he has incredible passion. Lebron has suprised me alot. he is such a good guy. his personality, how can you not like him, a real special person on and off the court. "THIS IS COMING FROM A DIE HARD 30 YEAR + LAKER FAN". KEEP IT UP LJ LA IN SEVEN
Just wanted to say that is so true and that's what's up.
Thanks
Coach
I'm not a fan of this guy, but he sure as hell is the best player in the game right now. Just look at what he just won (NBA MVP Trophy). And I believe he's the only player in the game right now who can play all five positions on the floor. He can use his brute force against smaller defenders, but he can also use his speed and quickness against bigger defenders.
My vote is for a very underated great basketball player...RAJON RHONDO OF THE BOSTON CELTICS
Rondo? Really he got outplayed by the rookie in Chicago. The only reason they survived that series is their inside game and Ray "Hit all the big shots" Allen.
I must agree that Lebron James is a freak and his athleticism alone makes him a top 2 basketball player right now... but 4th quarter, with the game on the line, I would want the best closer in the game and that is by far kobe Bryant... granted he has lost a step on his cross and his elevation is not as good as Lebron's but Kobe is by far the best shooter in the game with a hand in his face... ray allen is a great shooter but he is a spot up shooter he cant create the type of Jordanesque jumpshots/fadeways that Kobe can Lebron might get there one day but Kobe's jumpshot and fadeaway is by far the best in the game and that is why I would want him over anyone else right now (this is going to change probably in a couple of years when Lebron will be the single greatest player in front of Jordan and Kobe) but until he gets those rings and develops the fadeaway hes second to Kobe right now... and I know he won MVP this year
I think I misunderstood you here. You don`t mean he will be better than Jordon do you?
RE: Kobe, LeBron and Jordan. We KNOW that Kobe is not as good as Jordan was. We don't know that about LeBron. His stats at age 24 are light years ahead of Jordan. Whether or not he will continue to improve we don't know, but if he does (and my bet is he will - he was the most improved player in the league this year, and he will be better next year) - when his career is over Jordan will be reduced to the 2nd best ever.
Ray Allen is just a spot up shooter? Watch some film, he's not a high flyer that's going to try to get to the rim a lot, but he has a great repertoire of shots that keep defenders off ballance.
Kobe may be the better at shooting with a hand in his face in the last seconds of a game; but Lebron plays a team game that puts his team in the position to be up by 10 points and not even need the last second shot. Lebron is hands down the best player today and is a close close second to only Jordan. Lebron isn't lacking in any aspect of his game. Can you say the same for Kobe? Does he rebound? Does he feed the ball to team mates? No contest.
Yeah, I agree that Lebron will surpass even Jordan. We must remember that Kobe is getting older. Lebron at just 24 has many years to go. He does not get injured because he is a massive speciman. He is very likeable and he does involve his team, but much like Kobe, when it is necessary, he does take over the game. Hey guys, don't forget about Melo and Dwayne too. Both have upsides, especially Melo. He's pretty young too and what a shooter!!!
lebron is definitely good...but until he gets those rings, he will never be as good as Jordan. I don't think anyone will. btw, every time he took his team to the finals, they won. even kobe can't say that.
None of these guys will ever be better than Jordan. He won six titles, would have won a couple more (all in a row) if it weren't for the events leading to his first retirement. All he needed were interchangeable good role players with one exceptional side kick (who I think people forget was never any good without Jordan) and he was always expected to win and DID! He raised the league to a new level from Bird and Magic. Who was he compared to... NO ONE! He set the standard which all these guys will be judged against. He will be the most well rounded athletic competitor ever.
There is no argument to this question and there is only one answer: Lebron James. Right now he is the most dominant player in the league. Yes Kobe can be dominant but he is still a ball hog at times. And yes I know Lebron doesnt have a ring "yet" but kobe would never have one yet either if it wasnt for Shaq.
You haven't watched much NBA if you think Kobe is a ball hog. He tries to carry the team when they need it, or they're not stepping up.
Kobe has a history of losing sight of team play, which has little to do with his team mates. He has though, the past couple of seasons really shown a lot of maturity and seems to better understand how the "team" works.
Michael Jordan. Period.
i'm sorry but d-wade is better than lebron or kobe or even any other player right now. he's the only one who doesn't have a stellar supporting cast around him nd look what he accomplished ! kobe & lebron both have oustanding role players/vets around. Wade just has himself and maybe udonis haslem from that championship season. he single handed brought the heat back into contention this year plus the playoffs ! in my book dwayne wade is the MVP not Lebron james or kobe bryant. i didn't know you had to have the best record and a team of stellar role players to be named MVP of the League. obviously the cavs would still be a 1,2,3 seed without lebron. the same goes for kobe & the lakers ! without wade...the heat would not have made the playoffs again. any questions ?
When did D-Wade win a championship? When Shaq was on the team. It's pretty awesome what he did this year, making the playoffs. But him and Kobe both needed Shaq to win titles. If LeBron and company win this year. He will have to be considered better than Kobe or D-Wade due to a no name supporting cast.
At his age and with the list of accomplishments under his belt, I think LB will surpass Jordan at the end of his career in every way you want to tally the two. I'm a Jordan fan to the core, but what this kid can do is so reminiscent to Jordan at his best that all NBA fans should feel lucky to be able to witness sports history in the making in high def.
As for the other amazing players listed here, no doubt they are incredibily talented and individually amazing to watch, however to be the best you need to be surrounded by a great team (like Jordan had with his Bulls) to shine and a terrific personality and character, all of which LB is lucky to have.
Hmmmmmmmmm! And if the Rockets take it all...then who will you name? Hmmmm
John Havlicek----I can't spell it correctly but he is the best that ever played, by far.
Yeah, cause he was working with some bums. Was he even the best guy on his team?
LaBron by a long shot. A classy guy from A to Z. Whereas Kobe is a good basketball player but his attitude, smart ass remarks when unnessary and those awful facial expressions he constantly displays causes all the Kobe hater to grow and grow and grow. Almost like everything he has done negatively in the past is resurfacing again and it's all caused by that out of control EGO.
for real
Micheal Jordan CHANGED the game of basketball in a way that no other player has. LJ is terrific. A sure nuff STUD. Impact player DELUXE. But he isn't changing the game in the magnitude MJ did.
By far Lebron is the best on the court though he has to learn how to close the game and that is the only edge Kobe has over him.
LeBron, great player still maturing will not get title this year, Magic will finish in seven.
Kobe, egotistical, thinks he is the NBA. Nuggets will close them out this year. Five games, maybe six, but no seven..
Nash, great passer, maybe should've stayed with soccer.
Paul, inconsistent and still maturing. Would rather have Parker.
Wade, injury prone.
Tim Duncan is the man, solid basketball player with a beautiful bank shot that nobody comes near to. Not flashy like the NBA and TV want, just great basketball (scoring, rebounds and blocks) that gets results and respect from all players and coaches.
Look i'm going to put it like this Air jordan is the greatest ever. 28points a game his rookie year. dunk on more 7 footers then anybody his height 6.6 he also was the best clutch shooter in the games history, i mean they made a playbook to stop this man. He was great on both ends of the floor and always held the best player on each team if needed to. 6rings, some league m.v.ps and also 6finals m.v.ps. So please repect jordan. kobe, d-wade and lebron are great players and will all in up in the hall of fame barring no injuries. I believe lebron will pass jordans point total for a career because he came straight out of highschool and he is a beast but really watch film on jordan i mean really watch film, no one was more gifted then this man. So please respect mike and don't place people in front of him unless they are worthy and none of these players are worthy. I agree lebron is a beast and will continue to dominate the league until he retires. but you ask all those great players what man stop them from getting rings. What man had the whole world wearing his shoe, eating wheaties and singing if i can be like mike, and was more known threw out the world then the P.O.P.E Air Jordan 30point Career avg. Game over.
there is no one that played with such class, character, heart and guts as Jordan did. I watch kobe and lebron and never once do i ever get those chills that tells me i'm watching history in the making as I did when I watched Jordan. they are fantastic players obviously, but kobe has always had a great team around him even though he barely involves any of them and Lebron is still young and only time will tell. We can't predict the future, we have no clue that Lebron will better and better every year. only time will tell. I believe he will but without the championships, no player can ever be called the greatest. as for kobe, he's arrogant and makes my stomach turn every time I watch him.
72-10 what
Chauncey Billups is the best. He is underrated, but when the game is on the line, theres no other person I want my team to have the ball. The Pistons made a big mistake on trading him, and A.I was a waste, but the Nuggets made it farther than a lot of people expected them to because of the leadership of Chauncey.
KOBE BRYANT is the most versatile player in the world. He is a very smart person as well as a student of the game.... MVP and the BEST CLOSER !!!
Kobe Bryant is the most versatile player in the world. He is a very smart person as well as a student of the game... MVP and the BEST CLOSER!!! therefore, the Black Mamba.
Wait until the younger Jordan son comes to the game and is in his prime that is when we see the ultimate player. We are simply living in an age were your witnessing the pre-golden age of this century.
OMG so and so is the best! rah rah rah!
They did this and they will do that in the future!
My opinion is so important! What I have to say actually matters! This topic is so great.
Ugh.

I'm not a cavs fan, nor am I a fan of this guy, but he's probably the only guy in the league right now who can play all 5 positions.
