This is a very closely contested series. I'm looking for Orlando to pull it out on the road. The Lakers WILL beat the Rockets.
Lakers will blow the Rockets away. The Celtics, on the other hand have struggled at home as well as on the road -- but will win by a little in the end. Both the Celtics and the Lakers will be demolished by the Cavs (and this from a Laker fan).
The Spurs were sent home early this year, so I'll be ok with any team winning the NBA title...as long as it's not the Lakers, LOL!!!
yes...pushed to Game 7...totally blew the Rockets away...
GO ROCKETS!!!
They were supposed to blow away the Rockets a long time ago.
Reminds of the 95 - 96 rockets where Hakeem Olajuwan (who I went to UofH with - class of '84 before moving to California) was told by there coach (Rudy I think it was), "never underestimate the heart of a champion" ... Even if Rockets lose ... they have won my respect.
Laker fan ...

TY!
GO ROCKETS!!!!
Very admirable of you to say this as a Lakers fan. This Rockets team is exactly what your statement is about. I'm a Rocket's fan but I was not expected to push the Lakers into game 7, hell hardly anyone was. This team has put together instant chemistry in the absence of 2 of their stars. Even if we lose I hope game 7 is a close and exciting match.
Go Rockets!
Sweating it Lakers fans aren't you? I expect the Lakers to win but I hope the experience has humbled Kobe and his squad. I doubt it though.....
Yeah, the Cavs will win it all. Now that the Bulls are out of it I will be rooting for them.
These games have been brilliant no matter the outcome; I myself am a Rockets fan and would like to see them win, but it is an uphill battle. Kobe is a great player (especially at home), but the fact that it has taken 7 games to win the series proves the perseverance of the Rockets. If it does end up being a "Kobe/Lebron" showdown, I think the Cavs will take it. They have blown past the first two series without a problem, whereas the Lakers are taking their sweet time to win this second series. I myself am indifferent to the Magic/Celtics game as far as the winner goes, but hope the Celtics can take it to prove that although Garnett is a great player, in reality it takes a great TEAM to win a championship. Whatever the outcome, a great 3rd series is in the making!
Go Rockets!
Basketball is respectable, but it isn't hockey. Hockey requires more skill (they shoot the puck 100mph while skating on ice!), better-conditioned athletes (if you're out on a shift for more than a minute at a time, you'll hear it from the coach -- that's how intense it is) and greater physical toughness than basketball (there's no checking in basketball, much less at high speeds). Playoff hockey is the greatest time of the sporting year.
You said it man! Go Red Wings!
Hockey requires more skill? Are you kidding me? To throw a ball in a whole 10 foot above the ground 50+ times a game with 6 to 7 foot guys jumping in your face, running steadily for 48 minutes and having the hand-eye coordination to handle the ball away from ppl without looking down at the floor i think requires a lil more than hockey does. Not to take anything away from hockey but basketball has more skilled and trained athletes. Sorry dude
Hockey is awesome! Stinkin wings took out my ducks last night in a very tough series so, yeah, go wings! ....and bouncing a ball without looking to me would be allot easier that controllong a puck with a 6 foot stick without looking. Plus, those 6 and 7 foot guys whilke bumping and grinding still are not slamming you into the wall at 15 MPH! So, sorry dude I agree with the hockey dude statement!
Like I said, no disrespect to basketball, but you can't really believe that argument you made. "The hand-eye coordination to handle the ball away from ppl without looking down on the floor...". You mean, um, dribbling? Try skating at 25mph through opposing players all while 'dribbling' (stickhandling) a tiny frozen piece of rubber. And those 6 to 7 foot guys you speak of, jumping in your face? Hockey players will, without hesitation, lie down on the ice in front of a 100mph slapshot just to stop it from even getting near their net, much less in it.
Or you can think of it this way. If basketball required more skill than hockey, then why don't they all celebrate after each basket like hockey players do after every goal? When you're hitting 50 baskets a game, it kinda takes the 'skill' and achievement out of each one. I'm pretty sure no team has ever scored 50 goals in one NHL game.
And as far as the training/conditioning goes, an average hockey shift is just under a minute. One minute. Basketball players might be out there for 20 minutes at a time. The reason? Hockey is just more intense. If you're on the ice for more than a minute (unless you're on a power play), your body is already starting to crash and you better come to the bench to get the next shift (fresh legs) out there. Anyone who's ever played hockey knows how true this is. In basketball, unless it's a fast break, you often see them just jogging up court with the ball, setting up around the perimeter, eating time. You just don't see that in hockey. Why? Cuz your opponent will be on you like white on rice -- it's too fast a game. You don't have time to hold onto the puck and wait to find an open teammate like basketball players do, just standing there with one foot planted hoping a teammate will come around so they can dish off the ball. If that were hockey, your ass would be slammed to the ice and you'd likely get up just in time to see an odd-man rush headed back toward your goalie.
So again, with all due respect to basketball, hockey is athleticism at a higher level.
The Fakers are just like their Hollywood fans, all show and no go. Very hard to take them seriously, especially their goofy coach...what a putz!
feh...not getting too into this discussion...But I wanna say...
GO ROCKETS!!!!
Finally some love for the Cavs from y'all. Thank you for at least giving Cleveland credit for running with these great teams. It didn't quite feel like we belonged losing to the Spurs in 4 a couple of years ago. No matter who we might play if we get to the finals this year, the Cavs will compete. Go Cavs!!!
GO ROCKETS!!!! They have my respect. Lakers better humble themselves!
Hockey is more fun and more exciting.
Go Pens!!!
Pens??? Like Cindy and Jenny? No thanks. Go Red Wings!!!!
Hockey is the more exciting, even though my Bruins lost last night.
Hockey RULES! ...and my ducks fell last night as well. :(
Lakers all the way of course we are at home and they just let the Rockets have their fun, so guess what the Party is over.........
I don't think that the Lakers "let" anyone have fun. It certainly hasn't been fun for them. If you are truly a champion, act like one. The Lakers should have been done with the Rockets by now, if they are a "championship team". Guess not huh!!
They will always be Champions in my book and it's all in the sport I just believe that who would have ever thought either of the two will take it to game 7 well none of us did so we will all just enjoy the moment and watch the Champs play on Sunday....I know they got everyone attention now.....always a fan and will continue to be no matter what, or who will be on the team next year.Lady Laker for LIFE........
Although the Lakers will be at home for game #7 against the "Resilient Rockets", please be mindful of game #1:)!
Rockets all the way. I believe in miracles.
Neither of these games really matter. Denver will crush LA or Houston and Cleveland will sweep Boston or Orlando.
Both of these series should have already been over. Boston needed their gremlins working all their magic to eke out a home victory on the last shot of the game, one where they were outplayed for most of the game.
The Lakers have been playing when they feel like it; Bynum's back and the Rockets, without McGrady AND Ming, force a game seven? Please...
I agree with Tom; whoever wins these games doesn't matter. Denver and Cleveland are playing the best basketball and should steamroll their way to the Finals. Should make for an exciting series.
LeBron has been the "MAN-CHILD" since his High School games were wisely $$$ televised and the team has been built around him that will win 3 out of 4 of the coming NBA titles. He even enterviews with great confidence and presence.
"GO CAVS"
Blah..blah..blah oh the Lakers are gonna win is what everybody thinks!! I mean come on now The Lakers were suppost to sweep the Rockets and here we are waiting on game 7!! The Lakers are so overated and the only reason why they are hyped up is because of Kobe Bryant! I don't really care too much for Kobe cause he has this arrogance about him but I love basketball! Hate him or love him-Kobe can ball!!! But a team needs more than a star player to win a championship! The Lakers are getting exposed bottom line..they are not a consistent team and really lack defense. I'm going to give it to the underdogs and I take the Rockets in game 7! That would be the biggest upset this year..in fact that would be a devastating upset to last for a long time if the Lakers lose!! If they do grind it out and win then I definetly don't see them winning the championship! The Nuggets are a way better team all the way around!!! So to all the Laker fans..please give the Lakers their "BALLS" back because they are really going to need them to win game 7!!!!!!!!
for all those koby and lakers haters, go lakers, nba champions.
Im old as Bill Rusell and I love the Celtics. However, I think this is the year of the CAVS and LAKERS in the NBA finals. Not caring for either team, I am already shifting my emphasis to other sports once the next round is over. Unless the Nuggets and Celtics could pull it off.
Celts of course and if we don't make it, then I rooting for the CAVS, can't stand Kobe
Whats with all the Laker haters?? Just jealous i guess...
ps. i didn't even know who the rockets were - until they played the lakers... OF COURSE the lakers will win game 7 - no contest.
You're in Easy Mode. If you prefer, you can use XHTML Mode instead. |
Unless the Rockets pull off a miracle and beat the Jekyll/Hyde Lakers. All the stars will be out and Kobe will feel all chushy...
