Repeat after me: Freecycle does not exist to give people complete furnishings for their house, gym equipment, cars, computers or anything else. It is not a place to just get lots of great stuff for free. It *is* for encouraging people to give away things that might have otherwise ended up in a landfill. It's about conservation, not getting more stuff. Everytime I see one of these articles I cringe, but they explain why we periodically get tons of people on asking for "computers, only newer models able to run Vista, please" and "need new car to go to job interviews". C'mon. Go to the library for the computer if you need one that badly. Take the bus to a job interview, or get a ride. Stop loading my mailbox with thinly-veiled demands for things I spend years saving for.
