My first Twilight experience was the less than satisfactory movie. Sookie had me the moment the "vampires came out of the coffin."

She takes a backseat in early episodes but takes control at the end. She gets what she wants.

Not every person in every movie/book is meant to be a role model. This article is ridiculous.

My roommate is a fan of the books, so I watched the movie with her, and was horrified with the lack of character in the characters

Bella doesn't know what real love is.
being 17 is hard. Bella hasn't really experienced "real life yet"~She thinks she
    loves Edward.

Yes, she does cede her power to Edward, but she is a poor role model because she is suicidal-losing her mortality and jumping off a seaclif

She's a poorly written fictional character. She's just another in a long line that make real life fall short for the misguided readers.

Why these days does entertainment always have to be more than just entertaining - who cares if the character is a role model?!

Bella's fiction. But girls see her as "real"! Very BAD RM! Controlled! Passive! No identity! Thinks of suidcide? Reprocussions concern me!!

Twilight is a good story that was poorly written. Still, I'm pretty sure Bella was not supposed to be a role model.

Twilight has been like crack for me - but there is NO way I'd let my 12-year old niece read it! Bella sucks.

If you read the other two books in the series, you'll find that she DOES assert herself.

It's not all about being born extroverted but overcoming the tendency to give up ALL power over oneself. Besides an introvert can be happy.

I've read all 4 books and i think most girls would find better values in a can of creamed corn.

Edward never pressured Bella, he fought her on immortality the whole Saga. Bella is strong, independent & won't settle for the next best

Bella is willing to stand up for herself and what she wants. There arent many girls that will do that.
