Shaq is past his prime, with a healthy Garnett nobody can beat the Celtics

I love Shaq but he's aging, injury prone, and in the end he'll hurt the cavs...

Shaq's only 60% of what he was. Cavs already have Big Z. Another old, slow big won't help.Cavs need someone like Tyson Chandler.

I think it potentially improves them a great deal and puts them in much better position, but I don't think they're favorites yet!

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic will not buy Cleveland an NBA title. They need a Dwight Howard-like tall man instead of Shaq.

Defenses are cramming the lane already. Lebron needs a consistent PERIMETER threat next to him, not a 2nd paint clogger. Cavs failed.

He's way past his prime. He couldn't do anything in Phoenix and he sure won't be able to do anything in Cleveland.

Absolutely not! Shag has never been the main man. Without a Kobe or Dwayne level player he wins nothing. He stole 3 MVP's from Kobe.

I don't understand the logic of this move. Maybe Cleveland is waiting to, hopefully, resign LeBron and get more players next year.

Shaq should be with a team that work with a half court offense. Which Cleveland might be able to adapt to. The nice thing about this is Lebron will still carry the load for the team. Shaq body size will be able to help with the certain things... Overall, I don't think it hurts the team but at the same time I don't think they'll gain anything from it either. Don't expect a Shaq and Lebron combo like Shaq and Kobe. Shaq is just over the hill.

Kobe and the Lakers will dominate again. Shaq should have retired two years ago. LaBron needs to move on. Celtics are getting old. Watch out for Denver and New Orleans. Orlando, huge maybe to repeat in the Championship. Via the NBA.

Shaq won't hurt them but at the same time he can't help them enough to win a NBA championship. I think they need a Ray Allen type 6'5 or 6'7 shooting guard that play on both ends of the floor. Or a allround P. Forward a Chris Bosh, L. Odom, A. Jamierson, L. Powe just to name a few.

The team that employs the best player in the game today and possibly the best ever, should be able to put together a half decent supporting cast - better than what the Cavs management has strung together so far - come on....! Shaq will be welcome, given his experience calming qualities on the young and/or inexperienced players, albeit very expensive and only short term given his age. Shaq can still bang, but he will be prone to injury and needs to ensure he is in top shape. It will be interesting to see what happens.

If Shaq is able to repeat his performance from last year then the Cavs have a legitimate shot at the title. The bottom line is there is still no one in the league that can handle Shaq 1 on 1 regardless of his somewhat diminished skills. Of utmost importance is a continued effort by Shaq to improve his free throw shooting as the ability to make free throws is crucial to winning games (ask D. Howard if this is true). The reality is that at the ripe old age of 37, Shaq is still a better player then B. Wallace could ever dream of being. Great deal for the Cavs and their fans!

The CAVS were hurt also by the size of their guards. They need a shooting guard that is at least 6'5" who can defend KOBE. Shaq addition plus a big guard would allow James to play the power forward or small (shooting forward). This would give the cavs a better chance to win. But the Lakers and Celtics will still be tough to beat. The NBA will be very exciting to watch next season.

That's definitely the wrong move for Shaq. I would Love for him to go back home in Cali, he is a Laker and no matter where he goes he know for himself it will not be the same.

So true. Instead of being remembered in his soon-to-be-retirement as the "Big California Kid" he'll be tagged as another "Mistake on the lake." Bad move Cleveland.

Sasha should do well if Amare stays with the Suns. Big Ben Wallace showed his true grit and earned his championship ring with the Pistons; should seriously consider retirement.

What's not to like? Cavs is losing an injured-prone Wallace and Pav --who didn't play much. All they have to do is rest Shaq the 1st part of the season and let him come to the playoffs "ready-to-play". Does the trade make them a championship team? not sure? Does it make them better? ABSOLUTELY.

Perfect fit, Cavs will win it all, Shaq can still play but he needs motivation, on the wrong team he is a waste, on the right team with the right player he can dominate as he will this coming year, I expect that he will be at the gym tomorrow once deal is official and everday afterwards. Novemver he will be in the best shape of his life....for all you people who thinks this is a bad move, I gaurantee you this deal works very well for the Cavs.....

It looks good on paper and will give the media plenty to talk about. Will it work? Sure didn't happen in Phoenix. Didn't last in Miami either, although they did have that one good year. Shaq is to the NBA what T.O. is to the NFL; a big personality who can't seem to stay in one place because he craves the spotlight and can't get along with anyone who dares to share it with him. Just think how many more rings he would have had if he had stayed in L.A. and had not "feuded" with those who helped him win 3 titles. LeBron, I don't know whether to congratulate you or shake my head in condolence.

I don't recall any problems that Shaq had with Wade. Please refresh my memory. I think that both he and Kobe had problems sharing. Both have egos, but to blame it all on Shaq seems to be a bit much. He also did not cause any problems in Phoenix. There was just no chemistry there. I think that it is really unfair to compare him with T.O. Terrell is just self destructive, not so with Shaq. He is aging and would fit in with a team that does not need him to be the focal point of the game. He would though be a perfect fit to a team that is missing just one or two parts, case in point, Cleveland.

Coaches are in the spotlight just as much as the "superstars" of each team. If Shaq wasn't the problem he wouldn't be on the trading block so often, would he? You have to have an ego to play any professional sport. You just have to learn to put that aspect of your game in check to benefit your team, not disrupt it. Sound familiar? I scratched my head too when PHX got Shaq. End result? A fast, fun, run and gun team that was nipping at the Lakers heels went to hell in a handbasket in short order. If Cleveland really believes he's the missing piece of the championship puzzle then kudos to them for making the move. Only time will tell if they were right. Or not.

When Shaq is motivated he works hard. Kobe winning #4 may be the motivation that he needs. He will want to have won a championship with the best 3 players in the game: Lebron, Dwayne, and Kobe. What more motivation do you need? Go Cavs in 2010!!

The Cavs were supposed to win last year. The reason they did not win is that Lebron Choked in game 6 vs. Magic. They still won't be able to defend the Magic, will be worse with Shaq since is slow to react to everything and is foul prone. Choker Lebron will still be there, that is why they won't win.

Shaq is old and washed up! Lebron is super fast and motivated and all shaq is gonna do is slow him down. I am so disappointed in the Cavs, that is one of the worst trades ever. Are they trying to make Lebron leave after next year? That's an insult to pair him up with such and old and washed up player, i hope Lebron leaves the stupid Cavs after next year. He's an amazing player and deserves to win, and the franchise is a joke. It's their fault Cleveland hasn't one a major sport title since the 60's, appreantly no one in Ohio gets it.
