I just had that thought when I saw her pitcture here a minute ago. Not the hippo part, but that her arms had an unnatural level of muscle, so I wondered if she was on steroids.

You know....  She is buff but she is shaped very much like a typical Black woman.  Shapely with muscles...  I rather like her figure!

How can she be a hippo with the athleticism that she displays?  Besides, steroids typically cause breast shrinkage.  Professional Tennis has a more intense drug policy than many other sports.

Oh wait, who gives a crap, this is women's tennis and it hasn't been good since the 1990's not to mention every single commentator must push as hard as they can for the all William's final. As if Wimbledon didn't do enough favors for the US by putting the two on opposite sides.

Oh, I forgot, the ignorant ones come out, too!

But, just so you know, they are tested for steroids and other banned substances. A couple of female tennis players were disqualified earlier this year because of it.

These girls have been playing since they were small children. They have a daily workout routine that most of us, I dare say, would kill us to even watch it.

They were raised drug and alcohol-free. That's the kind of lifestyle they lead. Focus on that. I don't know many sports figures who can make that claim.

Thank you Kat. Some of us aren't happy unless we're being crass.

Even though I'm the kid sister, I'm rooting for Venus. In a youth vs. experience match, I could make a case for either side. However, in this instance, I'd like to see the more mature, gracious opponent get the win.

#7: Surely, you cannot be a stupid as your question. Maybe you believe that because these two incredible female athletes play with such an uncommon strength and intensity, they play like men. They have literally grown up before our eyes since they were 8 or 9 years old. Anybody that has paid attention knows that their potential has always been unlimited. If they focus on their training and desire to dominate, they will join or pass Billie Jean, Martina and Chris as the greatest to play the game.

Although Venus seems to be playing better this fortnight, Serena is not far behind. Her match with Elena today was legendary. Venus' game on grass (5 plates, count'em) may give her the edge but you can't deny Serena a fighter's chance.

I only hope the match compares favorably to the Serena/Elena slugfest.

Serena lacks sportsmanship when she loses. She never gives the other player credit and always says she lost because she didn't play well. Venus is more mature and much more gracious in defeat. I hope she soundly thrashes her little sister.

I love them both but I hate when NBC tells the score before the end of the delayed match that they are showing! That is very unprofessional and they do it all the time! If you know Venus' match is over in real time but you are showing it in delay, don't put Williams vs. Williams in Wimbledon final on the MSNBC homepage! Anyway, go VENUS!

I want Venus to win as Serena shows a distinct lack of sportsmanship - her screams when she wins a point are almost an insult to her opponent "Ha, take that", no-one else does that Serena, so why you? She needs to learn how to respect her opponents (and the viewers' eardrums). In a sport that is supposed to be classy, she (in my opinion) makes it rough and decidely unclassy.

yes, others to that as well. Have you seen the latest news reports? Martina Navratolova even made a comment about the screams. She also made a great point that it's even more subversive to scream when you serve or return because it keeps your opponent from hearing the raquet hit the ball, which is an important part judging what the ball is going to do. As far as her "distinct lack of sportsmanship," I'd have to respectfully disagree. She as never blamed others for her loss. She does, however, point out discrepancies in calls the judges make (which have been proven) and calls out players for not acknowledging it (when it is so obvious).

i understand what you are saying but the fact is that they are not the only one who screams. Am black but i like sharapova and have u hear her scream, if u have then you know that serena's scream is mediocre compare to that. i dont think serena is not humble, i just think she's a perfectionist and she try to tell what she didn't do wrong. yesterday she said that dementiava played well and she do comment but since people want to hate her, they will hate her nomatter what they do.

I love both of the sisters so it is challenging to decide. I used to think that Venus was arrigant and cocky (Does anyone rememeber when she jioned the top 10 and stated that she would be #1 and her sister would be #2 by the end of the 2002 season). Now I relized that it was just sure determination. That fire and determination now sits in Serena, and has for a while. Although i like the way that Venus looks on grass, I have to root for Serena. She has the determination to be #1 again, and another Grand Slam will give her the ranking. She is the US' hope a legacy of the WTA. Venus is injured and frankly cares more about her design agency then her tennis. She even stated last year that she was more concerned about her future then her present tennis situation. Bring it on sisters they are 10 and 10 against each other. They both haven't looked better in quite a while, so eather sister wouldn't suprise me. But go Serena.....
