Roger Federer

Sadly reality and talent clearly means Federer will win, but this Ugly American wants Roddick to win this one.

I really like both players, would be happy with either of them winning, but think Roger will prevail again.

      Andy Roddick

If Roddick plays the game he played today, he can beat Federer. Go Roddick!

Not necessarily what I'm pulling for, but Federer is the more complete tennis player.

I think Federer will win. But I have a lot of Swiss friends, so I'm betting on Roddick (I'm American) to keep things interesting!

                    Roger Federer

Federer has consistently shown more wherewithal and skill than Roddick in pressure situations and he usually wins when it counts.

Those same aces Federer has handled so comfortably in their past 20 meetings, of which he's won 18? Those aces? You DO know that Fed almost always has a higher ace count than Andy in their matches, don't you?And that Andy's ace numbers drop significantly in their matches

What a Joke! Went from the greatest match of all time last Wimbledon, back to where tennis was before Nadal came along, which was Fed just putting on regular beating on inferior players that lack any championship qualities. No intrigue or excitement with this match up. It's back to the past, another blow for tennis, except for Fed fans, who have to be excited about him getting back to playing a one dimensional scrubs.

Thats what being the best "EVER" means. It is sort of lack luster when players come up against Roger. Cuz they have no game against him. And last years final went 5 sets with Roger still recovering from illness. That's the only reason Nadal won. Yes, he's good, but he has had to wear out his knees doing that well. Rogers been injury free! It's not a blow for tennis, it makes others try harder. Rogers greatness has been the best thing to happen to the sport.

I assume your critique of the Fed-Nadal matches at Wimbledon include the two that Fed won, including handing Nadal 6-0 in the first set in 2006. I guess since he beat up on Nadal in those two Wimby matches, Nadal was one of the "inferior players".

As for your phrase "until Nadal came along"... well Nadal came along, won 4 FO's on the trot and still ended up spending 160 odd weeks as the No 2 to Fed... that's more than 3 years!!

Either pete sampras or andre agassi would have put a licking on federer all the time. the swiss is talented, but he's playing at a time of no competition, just like heavyweight boxing. But there's something about the yank spirit, such as demonstated in soccer last week. If Andy sticks to piston pete type aces, he'll do just fine.

Andy may be an improved player since he last met Roger in the Wimbledon final, but has he improved enough? Grass is Federer's surface. Those who say Roddick can win by sticking to aces and his power game clearly didn't see the previous match-up where he did just that and was humiliated by a far more nuanced game from Federer.

I vote Federer in a somewhat closer match than the 2005 final.

i would like to see Roddick beat Federer so Sampras can still have a piece of the Grand Slam record, but I do feel that Federer has the incentive to step up his game to break the record and win at Winbledon. Winning Winbledon is the most special of the Grand Slam events. I'm not a real tennis fan and I don't watch the events on television but I think Wimbledon is the oldest of the stadiums which they hold the event. Good luck to both of them.

Go Andy! You stood up for what was right in Dubai when no one else would. I was always a fan but now I have respect for himyou as a person. I hope God will bless you with the win. Serve well! Shalom.

Congrats to Andy for beating an opponent that has had his number.  Unfortunately, Roger on Roger's best surface is almost impossible to beat.  Look at what it required of Rafa last year to beat him, it will take more game than Roddick has.  I'd love to say I think Roddick can win, but I don't really believe it.

Everytime they tell us it's the best Roddick is playing and they think he can challenge Federer. And everytime Federer sweeps past him. This time is no different. Federer in 3. Easy.

First of all, for the person who said that Nadal is the only one that can stop Fed, no chance. Not any more. I guess that's just more hate. You see he would have beaten Nadal at the French Open this year. I saw more changes in his game this time. Obvious changes. And there's no way Pete Sampras or Andre Agassi would have had a chance against Roger. Are you kidding me? You must don't know Tennis. Right now, Fed is all the way back, and it's over for the rest of the tour once more. Even NADAL. So deal with. But I know there's going to be some hate on my comments. But you know if it wasn't for haters, people like Fed wouldn't assist. Boy you all trip me out. Hey just wait and see as the majors continue on. Trust me.

                                                                  Roddick or Federer?
