My husband's grandmother was like this and when she died, his family is still not sure we found everything she'd hidden.
You
What money....??? I wish I had some to stash....? lol
Agreed, use to have a good amount hidden around for emergencies, but don't have the "extra" funds to hide anymore. Have had too many emergencies over the last few years.
Ditto. Used to keep a stash for the collapse of western civilization, vehicular catastrophe and such. Back when there was money to stash.....
This will be a question on the next census. Obama wants to know who has money and where. Expect his goon squad, the new black panthers, to show up at your door and demand you hand it over.
If you were born here you are a native, put that on the census questionaire. Be interesting to see the Native American population increase to 100 million, that'll screw up Obama's redistricting plans.
Captain Marv, Paranoid are we..just a tiny bit?
Got my start with a "stash" when I was in process of escaping an abusive marriage - now I just have "mad" money - and not much of that as well! Rixar13 put it well!!!
I keep almost all of my money in a credit union who I have dealt with for several years. We do keep a gold coin in a safe deposit box for sever emergencies and I keep a $20 bill together with an extra ID in an inside pocket of the coat I use most of the time. I also keep a credit card I pay off every month (which Iuse for emergencies).
I stash cash but under lock and key or in a safe. I also keep all change and throw it in jars, of course seperate jars according to coin value pennie's, nickle's dime's etc.
I have about $15K stashed around the house - and will have more. Have to keep it out of the bank, so I can get grants to put my 3 kids thru college. We sacrificed & saved this money the past 8 years in case both of us lose our jobs. I already lost mine. So when filling out the financial aid forms & $80K 'emergency money' is listed, it's assumed that we have enough & should use it for their college tuitions. NO!! It's specifically so we won't lose our house. Sounds to me like damned if we do & damned if we don't. Oh - I have it in a fireproof safe that weighs a ton.
LOLOLO I wish I had extra money to stash!
Stashing cash became a habit as soon as I was old enough to receive an allowance as a child. I'm a saver by nature (not a hoarder, just a saver). Not enough stashed to compromise income from lost interest (in the zero percent interest world of today) or investment but enough to get by for several months in case of local/national emergencies. Stashing a cash reserve is not unlike storing food/water/first aid supplies or keeping batteries in flashlights & smoke detectors in good operating condition. It just makes good sense to keep extra cash on hand and quite frankly I beleive it to beanother trait of being a responsible citizen. Always prepared!
I don't currently have any money stashed..but, considering what is happening to the economy I may have to rethink this...

I always stash cash. You never know when you might need it, but it's rarely over a hundred.
