    Of all time? Negative.

Tiger was out of whack today. He knew he was playing with a serious contender.

There are so many others from Appalachian state to NY Giants, and Mets not even considering the Red Sox coming from 3 down, not close!

This does not rank in the top ten. The US Hockey team beating Russia is light years ahead of this.

The 1980 US Olympic Hockey teams win over the USSR is far greater. This was actually inevitable... the rest of the field cant always choke.

Woods wasn't that far ahead. Red Sox win over the NYY after being down 0-3 or the US hockey team win over USSR were bigger.

Bveryone in the PGA would say that Tiger will be back next year. I will be watching Yang with interest to see how he fares in the future.

Not even close. U.S. hockey winning gold in 1980 and Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson were MUCH bigger upsets.

Yang played superb golf but this doesn't rise to to the level of a major upset. Woods does need to re-evalute his strategy.

Or the 1990 Reds sweep of Oakland. Being an A's fan, I have nightmares still of Eckersley slinging that pitch into Gibson, and that home run really was huge. It broke the A's mentally. Probably one of the best clutch performances ever.

Tiger doesn't win them all, he just wins more often than others. There is usually an opportunity for someone to get hot and win on any Sunday.

How about the Red Sox coming back from an 0 and 3 deficit to beat the Yankees

Sox upset was huge, but for me it was the 1961 World Series. Pirates winning over Yankees with the Maris/Mantle home run combination. Mazoroski, better known for his glove than his bat, parks one in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 - game over, series over.

I was 11, baseball was just coming into my life, but I look at that moment and say " That's when I became a fan".

Woods is a human being who had a bad day. The expectation that he would be perfect forever is simply, and obviously, unrealistic.

I agree 100% with Jarmo!!!  Team USA over USSR in 1980 was and still is the hugest upset of all!!!  Think about it; we had some undersized college kids that beat a professional team!!!

I really can not argue against this one either. Staggering upset. It began with coaching and team building, and a work ethic that just does not exist today.

                                                  Mike Eruzione... what a keeper.

Here is what was so awesome about the 1980 US Hockey team.  They beat the USSR in the SEMIS.  They still had to beat what many called an even tougher opponent in the Finns to win the gold medal.

OK, excluding team sports and comparing individuals vs. individuals, Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson was bigger than this.

The Red Sox coming back in 2004 was the biggest shocker I have seen. Tiger missed 7 putts that SHOULD have gone in and they didn't. Just wasn't his day, and everyone has those. He was due for a day like today. Even the greatest golfer of all time had a bad day today.

Bob - I feel your pain. I am a huge A's fan myself. I have to agree with you that losing against the Dodgers in Game 1 in 1988 did break the A's down.

Did anyone consider Boston College (with Doug Flutie) upsetting Miami to end Miami's 58 game winning streak in the Orange Bowl in 1984? It has to rank up there somewhere pretty high I would think...

I think this will be good for Tiger though. He was always playing on cruise control with a lead -- he needs to go back to the day when he put his foot on their throat. Instead of waiting for people to wilt, he needs to play for the 15-stroke win!

Among the bigger upsets: Michgan over Ohio State in November 1969, Browns over the Colts in December 1964, Appalachain State over Michgan in 2008, Boise State over Oklahoma a few years ago, North Carolina State over UCLA in the mid-70's. Ingemar Johannson over Floyd Patterson in 1959 or so. Nothing tops the USA over the USSR in hockey at Lake Placid. I do not see Tiger Woods 2nd in a field as tough as that in the PGA as being a huge upset. He hit lots of good shots - Y.E. Yang hit a few more.

No one else would even carry the betting line....Boston's win over the Yanks coming back from down 0-3....Nova over G'town and N.C. State over Houston....UNC's tripple overtime victory over Wilt Chamberlain's Kansas team in 1957. Pirates over Yanks in 1960. Yanks outscored Pittsburgh 55-27 and lost. Yanks won their 3 games by a 38-3 tally. Mantle once said this was the only time that the best team didn't win the Series. All are good. But the biggest upset of all was me getting my wife to say yes....Now that was a miracle...
