I don't even know how it's legal for them to charge a cancellation fee even after they've re-sold your room.

Undiscolosed internet fees are the worst. I've been billed when the internet is down, double-billed, etc.

They have minibars in NY that charge you just to put food in the fridge... Automatic sensor... Now that's offensive!

What about "resort fee"? If I don't use it, I shouldn't have to pay for it!

Tips for the room cleaners? You must be joking. Let the hotels absorb these costs into their already stratospheric fees

My schedule frequently changes so now I only stay in hotels with liberal cancel policies- a far cry from yesteryear when hotel loyalty mean

Internet fees. Cheap motels can afford to give me high-speed wireless for free, but classy hotels need $20 from me? What a crock.

If I stayed near London airports more often, your #1 would be my #1. It's not often an issue in the US; the only cost is a tip to the drive

Why should I be charged for an in-room safe or contents of the mini bar if I didn't avail myself to either?

Who doesn't take their own cell phone these days? The in-room phone is unnecessary and, thus, should not be charged.

Every one of these, except the cancellation fee, are offensive. You should not be charged for something which you do not use/request.

I actually stayed at a hotel in Hawaii years ago that required a deposit before I could use the phone in my room. I would think they are setting themselves up for a liability law suit if I were trapped in a burning room and couldn't call for help.

Nah! None of the above...It's the Occupancy Tax (read local area tax to boost revenue and not upset local residents) Typical political idiocy that short changes democracy. (There's no way the traveler can vote on this outrage)

How about the "resort fee" that some places tack onto their rates just because they have a tennis court or golf course next to it?

I spent several days at a hotel in Traverse City where they did that for each room, whether you used them or not. That sounds like a fee for the hotel existing...it should only be applied to the people who use them. Better yet, just raise the price of the golf game so that the golfer pay for their own course.

BTW, there is no mention of the "resort fee" when you reserve your room, it shows up at the end of your stay.

All those hidden charges on top of the diry linens at one Best Western Hotel at Spokane Wa. What an experience when my son develop hives when he used the blanket and when I spread out the blanket against the sunlight , there was so much dust that flew out in the air.

                          Shame on you BWH..........

I never had it happen to me. However, while on a cruise, a friend of mine moved a bowl of fruit (that had grapes) and a few broke off from the stem. They actually charged her that she consumed the grapes, but they were still in the bowl.

I am more careful with the minibar situation because I really don't use the other things.
