Kobe & Lebron are nearly neck and neck on this one however Kobe's got the multiple rings to solidify his place as "the best of today"

He is in his prime, fresh off leading his team to a championship. You would have to tip your hat in Kobe's direction. Lebron is a close 2nd

It's really no contest. LeBron on the Lakers and Kobe on the Cavs . . . the Lakers might never lose.. LeBron is still just 24 yrs old.

I'll make it simple, Cavs without Lebron are @!$%#, Lakers without Kobe could still make it..bottom line Lebron is better because he's alone

LeBron single handedly dominates other teams. Kobe, while very dangerous, can't do that without a really good big man inside.

For the most part your list is a joke. For example, rating Blake Griffin who has never played in a regular season game makes no sense.

Kobe has 4 rings and has proved his longivity.

Are you kidding? LeBron humble, the guy is a sore loser, tries to pad his stats(like the rebound that he made sure he got over Ben Wallace even though Wallace actually grabbed the rebound at MSG for a triple double), or shaking hands with the winning team after the game. Or like having Nike confiscate a tape that had him being dunked on. Oh yah the same LeBron that throws fits for TMZ to catch in New York nightclubs like a spoiled valley girl. Hes good but hes not humble. He is so full of himself that you cant measure it!

I believe the question was who was the best player not who had the best attitude!! The best player in the game by far is Kobe Bryant period. Lebron is not close like Vincejr79 said you have to get a ring first. Kobe works harder than anybody else in the league and it shows in his performance. The coaches and players were polled on who you would want to take the last second shot with the game on the line overwhelmingly they all said Kobe Byrant. How is the Lebron going to be the best player in the league but not picked to take the last second shot??!!

THat's because Kobe is a better shooter than Lebron. But as far as all around player, Lebron is the man. James out-rebounds Kobe, he out-assists Kobe, and he out-defenses Kobe.

Swap out Ilgauskas and Ben Wallace for Gasol and Odom, and watch Lebron rack up the rings. Kobe has the best surrounding cast in basketball. If he didn't win the championship, he'd be a joke.

Kobe by far is the best. His work ethic is top notch and unmatched in todays game. How do you discount Phil Jackson stating Kobe works harder than Michael and not say Kobe is better right now. Kobe improves every season even if he is declining. Lebron James fans, I am sorry but that "poor sport" that Lebron is as demonstrated last year, shows what kind of "ego" and "attitude" he has. No player can come close to Kobe right now in work ethic and killer instinct!

I agree that kobe is the best player. A whole lot of people is leaving out d wade. How can any one do that? He`s in the top 3,no doubt. He won a championship really all by himself. This guy can see the next play be for it is even ran. he won a championship against the best defense in the league. He had help as far as passing the ball in but, that was about it. 1 of the greatest display of talent in a championship game ever. And let not forget james when he scored 28 straight points. even though he didn`t win the championship. Anybody can score but these 3 can do it all.

Kobe is the best player in the game, Le Bron will not be there ....he is a bad loser and an arrogant young player. Don't forget he just walked off the orlando magic last season without shaking their hands. He said he is a winner ..Michael Jordan lost to the pistons year after year after year. he walked off a great loser that led him to be the greatest winner. Lebron won an MVP and wore a shirt MVP..he should wear MCP Most Choke Player ..I hate his ego his style ...he is no winner even he wins a championship for me he is just a pure loser with a BIG L!!!

He scored 80 points in a game that the Lakers won from behind. And let's not forget the 4 Championships and counting with two totally different team members(except for D. Fisher). 'Nuff said.

Right now (in my opinion) you have to give to Kobe simply because of what he accomplishes on the court coupled with the 4 rings he has earned. For those of you who get down on Lebron about being a choke artist and attitude and so fourth....I would ask you all to consider his age and how long he has been playing. The man is (in a way) still just getting started. And as a footnote, I have to throw this in. Although I agree fully that the 80 point game Kobe had is one of history's gems in the NBA ( and this is mostly for the people I hear say it is a better performance than any MJ had) he put those 80 pionts up against one of the weakest teams in the league and against a team that the league considered to have the weakest defense for that season. The night MJ poured in 63, it was against the Celtics........oh yeah and if I'm not mistaken.....in a playoff game:)

The only way to find out who is the best player is put Gasol a top 15 player with both of them. Since that won't happen we can't say. I can't even tell you for sure who the 2nd best player on the Cavs is for sure right now. Phil Jackson has had 2 of the top 15 players for so many years, that I am not so sure he is as good as we all think. When Kobe had no top partner, the Lakers were just above .500.

Kobe has ALWAYS had help, and LeBron, well you can't even name the best player that he's ever played with. I would love to see how many rings LeBron would already have if he had any help at all. Charles Barkley said it best, "The NBA is in TROUBLE if LeBron ever gets any help, because he may never loose again"... The numbers that LeBron puts up are staggering considering that he is constantly double and triple teamed. All his stats and percentages are better than Kobe's. You can't say that Kobe's the best just because of the rings. Robert Hory has as many rings as MJ.....

Kobe averages 4.6. And James does it with an inferior cast around him. Remember, it's only an assist if the guy makes the shot.

James is noted for his UNselfishness and his passing ability. To say that he is ballhog is simple ignorance. Try using some data next time instead of whatever BS pops into your head.

Its 1 and 1A, but Kobe beats out LeBron James. Kobe has won more rings than Lebron (0).

That may change soon, but Kobe is a great team leader and his team plays well when they are on the floor with him. Kobe has great talent and Lebron has unbelievable talent. But Kobe is a great closer in the final minutes. Right now, that's the difference.

At the end of the day its about winning and how many rings you have thats how great players are measured!! Lebron let his far better team get outplayed and lose to the Orlando Magic!! You mean to tell me they were better than the Cavs?? I don't think so!! The best player in the game by far is Kobe the Black Mamba Byrant!! The coaches and players were asked a question with the game on the line who would you want to take the last second shot?? They all said Kobe Byrant!! How if Lebron is the best player is he not going to take the last second shot??
