I don't have a problem with 4 of them but how do you take Bill France Jr over David Pearson who has the highest winning percentage ever?

I agree with you. France Sr. was a correct choice, he started the opeation, Jr over Pearson, no way.

There are several drivers I would pick before France Jr.. And David Pearson is on the top of that list. But when the organization is owned by the France family, who do you think is gonna get the votes?

I agree David Pearson should have been included in the inaugural year.

Bill France Jr. undoubtedly deserves inclusion for his contributions, but I would propose that in the future that only 1 non-racer should be elected in each year. That way some of the old-timers who paved the way for NASCAR's success might be honored while they're still alive.

Of course it's too late for one of my favorites, but how about Fireball Roberts next year?

The first bunch should have been just the dead guys.

Totally agree with four inductees. David Pearson should have been #5, not France, Jr. Since it was the very first year, I think they should have at least inducted 10-15 and 5 every year after. The HOF will be a long time catching up to where it should be with so few going in the first year. IMHO !!

I agree with all of the picks but one. Seriously, France Jr. over Pearson, "Fireball"? Probably several other drivers that should have made it in before France Jr..

How can you leave out David Pearson?!?! Obviously the 'voters' were scared to vote against the Family France. That vote really is a metaphor for why NASCAR is one or two steps away (right now) from WWF.

I like that Bill France JR. was elected in the first vote. It clearly shows from the beginning just how much credibility this "Hall of Fame" has NONE !!!!!!!!!!!

Who ever came to a race to see the track owners ?

The first class should have been much larger. who goes to a Hall Of Fame to only see 5 people?

There are a lot of drivers and others who should get in while they are still alive to recive the honor.

Why Bill France Jr???? Track owners should not be considered. David Pearson contributed more than young Bill ever will and to not consider Fire Ball Roberts is just not right. There are also several other great drivers that deserve to be considered.

With all the future Hall of Fame names on the inaugural list it is hard to pick a first five. David Peason should have been ahead of Junior Johnson but the remainder of the five are deserving. Without France Sr. you wouldn't have NASCAR to begin with. France Jr. brought NASCAR to where it is today. Richard Petty is the career wins leader with a record that probably won't be broken. David will be enshrined in the next group for sure.

David Pearson Yes, Bill France Jr. No. The way NASCAR is run now, however, the fan base will diminish greatly. COT - Boring; Races - Boring; Same Teams winning all the time - Boring; State of Nascar - Boring. How is that Hendrick cars win day in day out? You can't tell the difference in the cars, same cars, different decals. Bring back the old way of having the cars be stock from the manufacturer. What they have now will kill the sport...They lost me has a fan...Ever since Dale Sr. went down, so has the sport. I like Dale Jr. but if he can't win in a Hendrick car, what does that tell you? No offense to Jimmie Johnson, but watching him race is like watching paint dry or grass grow...Boring, Boring, Boring...

Aero push; clean air, blah blah blah. No more slingshot to win, no bumping or your fined and suspended. The excitement is gone...BORING.........

I agree with most of the replies, that David Pearson should have been added instead of Bill France Jr. What I don't get is, why only put 5 people in the hall of fame? Almost, if not all of the nominees are "hall of fame" drivers or personnel. I know, delay the entries to create interest in next years(?) vote, etc.... But only 5 names to start with? They should have started with at least 15 - 20 names (would make for a much nicer visit). It's almost impossible to compare drivers of the beginning of NASCAR to the more modern drivers. The rules, the cars, the tires, the times, etc... So why couldn't they have included more names from like each decade, then add more later.
