Sounds like a typical Phillies fan. Can't even string together a coherent sentence. Even Red Sox fans have more class!

I fail to see how that statement isn't coherent, maybe you need 8 more years of new york public school. NY fans know absolutely nothing about class so that statement doesn't hold any water coming from you. Be ready for a little more humble pie, like the kind you had when Boston came back from 0-3 in the LCS to beat your sorry, overpaid, schlub of a team and then be ready for the champs to beat up on you like your name was the mets cause you don't have a chance. I hope all you new yawkas have the class to give philly the credit it deserves when we go back to back and beat up on the perceived best team in baseball. LETS GO PHILLIES!

Ah! Yankee Stadium. Quite a history. The house that "Ruth Built". No longer exists. What has replaced the house that Ruth built? Why the house that Steinbrenner stole from the taxpayers. Wow, New York just bleeds greed! Here in Philly we built a house. A very special house. One that all the taxpayers agreed to build. The house that our beloved "Liberty Bell" lives in. The world series trophy deserves a friendly place to be, like Philly!

To diamondduchebag , that was 40 yrs ago a-hole, let it go already and snowballs were thrown at him because he was coming on the field for kids and he was falling over drunk so they threw snowballs at him because HE was the disgrace, not us, again, better have all your facts right before you step in the ring with philly fans you uneducated, know nothing wang yanker. As for the batteries, what sports team hasn't had a moment at one time or another, where their fans gave them a black eye also, I noticed you don't mention when we pelted cowgirl coach Jimmy Johnson with snowballs during a game at the vet but I guess thats ok and you don't mention that because everyone hates the cowgirls. Looks like the case is reopened, diamondduche, and the ball is in your court, GAME ON! GO PHILS!

Wow, what a surprise. The Yankees make the world series. This league is catered to the Yankees. Baseball, unlike Football & Basketball, does not enforce PARITY, no salary cap. The yankees are the only team that can truly afford to buy as many superstars as they want. There is absolutely No excuse why the Yankees can't win the world series every single year. That's the real surprise to me. They have every advantage over most other teams, yet they can't win it all every year! Much less, not be there!!?? No excuse.

Good point dhoung! Yankees fans are proud of a team that is EXPECTED to win year after year, yet can't do it! I SO hope the Phillies shut the Yankee fans' pie holes up quick. With Lee pitching game one...that's one win. If the Yankees are so wonderful, why is it they couldn't even sweep the Angels? The NY Prima Donas should win, but it's going to be so great when they don't. The Phillies are on fire and too good.

Dhoung - The Yankees are NOT the only team that can afford players. Atlanta Braves were owned by Turner (AOL). I can guarantee you they could buy the Yankees three times over if they wanted to but they never did. I can guarantee you that the owner of the Yankees is not the WEALTHIEST baseball franchise owner! Don't hate on a team that chooses to take their profits and invest on their team. It's all fair and no rules are broken!!! Did we forget how much the Red Sox paid for their pitcher? Stop finding excuses to hate the Yankees. We all know they are the Superior team!

The Marlins ,Royals, Pirates, etc..... only exist because of Revenue sharing. If these types of teams used the money as it was intended there would be more Parity in Basesball. The owners of these teams only care about profit not winning.

The Phillies will easily win the WS .... although they don't have the million dollar players the Yankees have .... and they will win the series in five games. Yankees are not a team. They are host of ego filled males that will not play as a team.

Yankees are a great team, but the Phillies will not be intimidated and they're not like the Dodgers and Angels - laid-back ballclubs from LALA Land. Phillies are hard-nosed scrappy group that will do whatever it takes to win. Key for the Phillies is staying patient while staying disciplined.

The Yankees have a slight edge in starting and relief pitching.

The Phillies have the offensive advantage, I mean, who do you pitch around to get too? Solid hitters from 1 to 8.

The Phillies are more of a team compared to the Yankees.

I watched most of both LCSs and the Phillies played more fundamentally sound baseball. The Yankees made a lot of mistakes baserunning and fielding.

My gut feeling tells me the Phillies have an edge in the WS and will repeat.

If you look at the every day line up of both clubs, third base is the only position where you would start a Yankee over a Phillie. The Phillies bench is a minus but their bullpen is sneaky good, and if Lidge is back.... The balls will be flying out of both parks with the Phightins' doing most of the hammering. Phils in 6.

I hate to tell you but the Yanks have the advantage at C, 1B (If you don't believe me then ask yourself who would start at 1B if Howard was on the Yankees? He'd be the DH.), 3B, starting and relief pitching. The Phils have the advantage everywhere in the OF, 2B and SS are essentially a push (Jeter gets the edge at SS on intangibles but Utley gets the edge at 2B with consistency) as are the benches because they both suck. The Phils have to hope Lee can out dual Sabbathia (last year is old news and he's not throwing for the 5th consecutive time on 3-days rest), Burnett has one of his awful starts rather than one of his gems and that Hamels and Lidge can perform like they did in last year's World Series, otherwise I have the Yanks winning in 6.

I think the Yankees will win the World Series in six games.  The Phillies don't have the starting pitching that the Yankees have but as far as the regular lineups, the two teams are pretty evenly matched.  The Series will come down to "PITCHING!!"

Wow... I wouldn't have expected this many Phillies Phans coming out... The interesting thing is how does one become a Phillies Phan in the first place, and beyond that , how does one remain a Phillies Phan once one realizes that this has happened... It's kind of like having athlete's foot and doing nothing about it... I mean, they play in Philadelphia fer crissake... They eat bad meat smeared with canned cheese on horrible "Italian" rolls and call it a delicacy... and if that weren't bad enough, the Eagles play football there... That would seem to be enough to turn any rational human being away from this irrational state of being a Phillies Phan...

RichB - What a GREAT post!!! The Yankees will easily beat the "Filthydelphia Fillies". The "Fillies" lineup & pitching is no match for the Yanks. GO YANKEES!!! Number 27 is just around the corner...I can see it now!

It's not necessarily about being a Phillies fan but about NOT being a Yankee fan.

How about the slop vendors serve up on the streets of NY, huh? Nathan's Famous are good, but not exactly a culinary masterpiece.

The 2009 Phillies are as solid a team as one can assemble without spending $200 million per year on free-agents. If Lidge and Madson hadn't struggled, the Phils would have won 105 games, just like the Yankees. Also recall that the Phils led the Yankees all three regular season games between them, at Yankee Stadium, including a start by CC Sabathia. This means the Phillies are likely to be leading as the game gets late, so if the bullpen holds, Phillies in 5 or 6, probably.

But this WS is a pick 'em, no question about it. Expect a surprise hero to emerge -- someone the Yankees don't expect like Shane Victorino. He's the one who hit a salami off CC last year in the playoffs. The Phils will not lay down nor overly respect the blue pin-stripes. If the Yankees think they can intimidate the Phillies, they will lose.

It's easy to root for the Yankees. Phils fans are true through bad and good. Rich, you'll be sucking air when the Phils win it in 6.

I'm not a Yankee fan or a Phillies fan, but when it comes down to who's gonna play better baseball, it almost has to go the Yankees. By no means are the Phillies a bad team, I mean they really have no weak spots in the batting order anywhere. But with a line up like the Yankees have, it's just to hard to say they will play bad baseball in a situation as big as the series. It will go to 7, but Yankees will pull it out.

As a Twins fan, I'm rooting for the Phillies. As a fan of fairplay and accurate umpiring, I'm rooting for the...well, again the Phillies.
