I suspect that most Americans had never heard of Van Jones then, and were still unaware of him until he resigned. And then they probably breathed a sigh of relief that this "communist," "racist," "9/11 conspiracy nut," "enemy of America" had been ratted out.

I have a broad smile on my face today. At a meeting last night to discuss health care reform a paralegal addressed ERISA, the unfamiliar federal law that prohibits one from suing his HMO.

In the last four years I have discovered the most corrupt, ruthless health care system that no one of us would have imagined a few years ago. Now voices are increasingly being raised with personal stories of indifference to pain and suffering for the sake of greed.

I seldom tune into the debate about health care reform. There is not much truth out there, especially when I listen to people like Aetna CEO Ron Williams. Williams appeared tonight on The Online News Hour on PBS. I choked. Then I wrote.
