‘State of Play’ has all the twists fit to print

The new political thriller “State of Play” almost immediately dates itself — not because its protagonist is part of that dying breed, the dogged newspaper reporter, but through the film’s obvious disdain for online media. Characters tend to pronounce the word “blogger” with the disdain normally reserved for “booger.”

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck apparently looked to the heavens for inspiration for their new daughter's first name (Seraphina) and back down to earth — in the garden, specifically — for part of her middle name (Rose Elizabeth). Woof! Westminster Dog Show must-see TV

TelevisionAfter having seen “Best In Show,” it’s difficult for me now to watch a dog show without imagining Fred Willard cracking jokes as the analyst or Eugene Levy trotting his dog around the ring with two left feet. But I’ll try, because when the 132nd Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show kicks off this week at New York’s Madison Square Garden, the furry four-legged prima donnas are the real stars. There probably won’t be a lot of laughs, but definitely a ton of smiles as 169 breeds and varieties will be judged in seven different groups over a two-day period. And here’s a bonus: Four new breeds — the Plott, the Tibetan Mastiff, the Swedish Vallhund and the Beauceron — will be competing this year. I’d love to see Willard have fun with those names. (USA, Monday, 8 p.m. ET, then continuing on CNBC at 9 p.m.; USA , Tuesday, 8 p.m.)

The Affleck Brothers, Boston Gothic, and Gone Baby Gone
Source: CC2K.us

Gone Baby Gone, by my count, is the third recent and most extreme film in a new sub-genre I'd like to call Boston Gothic. It started in Mystic River, possibly reached its peak in The Departed, and finds its purest expression in Gone Baby Gone.

Sue's Reviews: The Last Kiss
