Today had all the makings of yet another long and unbearable day. Somehow my squad got the double whammy of Command Sergeant Major Detail (CSMD) 2 weeks in a row, and guess who was on deck today to pull it.

Today while driving int to work I was listening to some local talk radio people. They where talking about politics, no not arguing about who was qualified to be president. No they where pretty much talking about the stereotypical Republicans and Democrats.

OK, many might know me as that dude who wrote about Iraq. Well I have been home for approximately 2 months and I have noticed that although I missed home like crazy I have found a ton of things that drive me batty.

Recently on another thread I was asked a series of questions about the Armed Forces Network (AFN) here in Iraq, and because I am not in the business of thread jacking I decided to write a little article about it.

There are days here it seems nothing goes right. Days that seem to last forever. Days where all I want to do is curl up in a ball and sleep away the time. Days when I miss having the option of a sick day.

OK I know that people think I am crazy but last night it snowed here in Baghdad. OK it did rain more than it snowed but the temperatures dropped into the low 30's causing the rain to change to a snow like substance. I couldn't believe it untill I saw it with my own eyes.

A few might have noticed there is another soldier lurking and writing articles here these days. His name is jnealis and he joined a few weeks ago and started writing a few days ago.

As many who might keep track of my writing might know it has been quite a while since I have written or seeded anything here on newsvine. I didn't intend on being gone so long, but as many know something called life gets in the way of even the best laid plans.

How many of us are tired of getting slapped in the face with partisan BS on every issue?
Well, if that's you here is a group for you.

As many may know I am currently in the National Guard. And in the coming months there is a very high probability my unit will be deployed to Iraq. Now where does this leave me? I can E.T.S.

***In 2003, my unit was sent to Iraq at the start of the war. This is a short article of a night spent while an overnight shift on an overpass. This is in no way political it is more or less a series of thought and feelings of boredom and a longing to get back to "real life".

Am I the only one intimidated by a lot of the other authors on newsvine? You see there are some great writers here and then there is me. I have never thought of myself as anything other than a sub par writer/commenter.

Back by not so popular demand, not to mention I couldn't think of anything else to write about, comes another Hot Chick poll by name. This weeks poll is Jennifer. So make your voice known and vote for your favorite Jennifer. So without further ado here are the competitors.

There are actually a lot more than five reasons I hate elections but to save space and boredom I will just write about the first five that come to my head. I would like you first to realize these are in no particular order.
