Canon reports 13 percent drop in profit

Canon Inc. said Thursday its second-quarter profit fell 13 percent from a year ago as a stronger yen chipped away at the value of booming overseas sales of color copiers.

Canon Inc. said Wednesday its profit edged up 1.8 percent in the fourth quarter from the year before, helping it reach a record annual profit for the eighth straight year.
