Apparently, doctor and team want to back-pedal a little from the AP story: "I would consider this a typical ACL-MCL football injury. Comments attributed to me that the knee injury was 'devastating and potentially career ending' were meant to describe such injuries in general.

I don't see how he can make it back as soon as they're speculating if the injury was much worse than expected. The doctor uses the word "shredded" to describe the injury.
