Hilly Kristal, founder and owner of CBGB's, died Tuesday at the age of 75 after complications from lung cancer. And while the debate may rage on as to whether punk is really dead or not, one thing is for certain, the fabled Bowery music club will now live on only in memories.

I was sitting in a dentist's chair this morning when I heard that Hilly Kristal (owner of CBGB's) had died of lung cancer at age 75 and I felt "a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices..." had lost their power.

My Ode to CBGBs.

As CBGB's finally closes its overly stickered and sticky doors we have been bombarded with the usual "End of an Era" propaganda. This is the part where many of you will start to plot my demise. You are free to hate what I have to say but I'm going to say it just the same.
