The whole idea of being a citizen journalist is should not be orientated to making money. It is however to be ready to publish stories on your door step that simple get missed by the media or before they get to the scene of the news.

Let me start out by saying that I am against censorship in all of its forms. People should be allowed to speak. People should be allowed to say whatever they like. Certain places have rules, such as Newsvine, but those are community rules.

An early holiday present for Newsviners (or you could consider it a very belated holiday gift): comment editing is now live! Here's how it works:
Google News to publish agency storiesSource: journalism.co.uk
Google News has moved beyond simply linking to news stories by forging a deal with four news agencies to publish their stories.

I have been unable of late to spend as much time on NewsVine as I would prefer, owing primarily (I tell myself) to the required activities of work and school.

This weekend, we launched a small but important feature that we've been meaning to get to for a long time: post-registration commenting.

Alert baseball fans have probably noticed the MLB Scoreboard link that has made its way onto the left side of the screen recently.

I know that right before we (yes, we) went live, I wrote an article about the meta nature of Newsvine at the time, noting the omnipresence of Newsvine-centric material.

In the past few days, someone posted an opinion piece with which I did not agree. I found the opinion to be ludicrous, biased, not based on fact.

As some people have noticed, Digg launched a new commenting system yesterday, and it's quite nice. We like it a lot. Why do we like it? Well, cosmetics aside, it's eerily similar to what we've been drawing up over here.

Growing up, I used to play a lot of basketball at the local park (I'm sure this is not a shocking revelation). One of the games we used to play was called "Alley Oop," though I've heard it called "Tips" or "21" before.

The short of it: Newsvine is sorely lacking pingback functionality.
