The video title said it was a Megalodon but since share this video with others people seem to think it's a greenland shark but a very big one though, the source of this info about it being a greenland shark was the IMDB.

I haven't really seen any ratings breakdowns for NBC's Surface, but given my track record with new SF shows, I imagine their less than stellar when juxtaposed to the show's production costs.
