Here is a small feature request for the folks at newsvine - it seems like it would be a fairly small and easy to implement request too - so it's my hope you can comply.

Ok so this is a fluff article - sue me. I was pleasantly surprised to see a fourth branch sprouting off my vine today - it still isn't for having a bunch of friends (i have few) but for "lifetime achievement". Cool.

I know I am not alone in my desire for Newsvine to grow and become still greater than it is.

When "Newsvine 2.0" launched, users were provided with a limited set of front page modules, one of which was used to give existing groups a bit of (random) added exposure.

There has been some complaint about long comments. As someone who writes long comments, this gives me some pause. Personally, at least half of the comments I find most valuable are longer ones.

Author's Note: This article will be presenting my vision for Newsvine's ideal role in my life. As such, please expect some small rants and a lot of wishful thinking. This is an opinion piece (an explanation of mine, not a prescription for yours) and should be treated as such.

I recently noticed the addition of a new button up in the News Category topbar. I'm sure you've noticed it, too. It says "More +", and when you hover over it, you can see links to six more news topics:

I explore Newsvine when I have the time, the urge, or an overabundance of opinion. My daily consumption of Newsvine occurs mainly through my favorite RSS aggregator. I've been annoyed by the percentage of content I've received that has to do with sports.

I would like to see Newsvine add an external "blog this" feature to the current feature set.

We all know that voting an article up the vine (or Digging an article in Digg-speak) is a compelling feature that has more or less driven the whole idea of community driven news sites. But should there be an 'anti-vote?'

I really like newsvine for reading AP news and interesting link that others post. However, I would really like to be able to incorporate some of my own feeds so that I can read those too without having to go to a different site (Bloglines, Google Reader).

Newsvine is looking really exciting so far. There's always room for improvement though, right?
