I have been married for seven years and I have a daughter. I am close friends with a gay man who is incredibly charming and charismatic. Although I've shared every single communication I've had with this man with my husband (no secrets there), this man consumes my thoughts. I sometimes desire him physically more than I desire my husband. In some ways, it seems innocent because he is gay. Yet, I am wondering: Do I need to end the friendship?

Talk about insecurity! Facebook’s been trying so hard to look cool ever since that new kid Twitter hit town, it’s hardly recognizable. The euphonious “is” was dropped from status updates, the profile page is more like a laundry list of junk, and now Facebook is opening its infamously closed network to outside developers which will allow users to access Facebook without going to the site. It’s as if Facebook doesn’t even know who it is anymore.

There were 25 random things I needed to read about you and you and you. There were wall posts I needed to respond to, friendship invitations I needed to vet (wait, who are you again?) and instant messages that demanded immediate attention. There were vampires and zombies that had virtually bitten me, and expected to be virtually bitten in return. I’d been poked and the question begging to be answered: Would I poke back, or would I remove said poke as though said poke had never happened?

Of all Barry H. Landau's anecdotes about his friendships with presidential dogs — and trust us, he has lots of 'em — perhaps the best is the one about the time the Clinton White House called to postpone his playdate with Buddy. I have a good friend of 20 years who has always been more financially successful than myself. Because my hard times left me with lots of debt, I have become focused on budgeting. I won’t go to lunch with the work gang unless someone else picks up the tab. Usually I brown-bag it while everyone else goes to a coffee shop, but once in a while one of the guys says, “Come on, my treat.”
