The Activision/Vivendi merger is big news. From big mergers like this comes a flood of paper work and press releases, and in those papers sometime comes nuggets of interesting news. This isn't one of those times.

Our favorite paid spokesman, Major Nelson, announced on his site the creation of the Arcade Hits program, a permanent price reduction on some Arcade titles. While the price drops are nothing stellar, they're still reductions in seemingly overpriced products.

Apparently EA, Interplay, Atari and some lesser-known publishers will end their affiliation with the service December 11. GameTap Editorial Director Douglass Perry says GameTap signs contracts with a publisher which have a beginning and an end.

I hope everyone who wants a Wii already has one. With more reported "shortages" this year it appears that the only way to get one will be through the gray market. If that's the case then be prepared to pay more.
